There is news that BBC Radio are reporting that Stoke City are getting close to signing Senegal International defender, Abdoulaye Faye, from Newcastle United.
Abdoulaye Faye – hopefully going nowhere
That has to be nonsense surely.
Abdoulaye Faye was a stalwart in our defense at the end of last season, and his ability in the air is second to none.
There are reports that Faye trained with Stoke City on Thursday, and then even held talks to agree personal terms with the Midlands club, so the defender could make the switch to the Britannia Stadium.
We are assuming this is all nonsense, but if it is true it will not be good for the club, as Kevin Keegan has said more than once, that the last thing he wants (apart from perhaps Ameobi) is for any of his current crop of players to be leaving.
Faye joined almost exactly a year ago from Bolton Wanderers for a fee of around £2M, and was a good buy by Big Sam.
Usually the BBC is a valid source of news, so the fact they are reporting this leaves us just a little bit concerned.
