CARDS POISED TO PROMOTE DAVIS

In the wake of the Cardinals’ surprise decision to part ways with defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast, we heard that linebackers coach Billy Davis was the favorite to land the job. But then Mike Jurecki of XTRA in Phoenix reported that the Cards had received permission to interview Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler. But then Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Cards hadn’t even sought permission to interview Butler. Now, KTAR in Phoenix reports that Davis is getting the job.
