Financier interested in Pittsburgh Steelers: report
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Financier Stanley Druckenmiller has confirmed his interest in buying the Pittsburgh Steelers U.S. professional football team, the Wall Street Journal reported on its website on Thursday.
Druckenmiller is described in Forbes magazine as a billionaire who runs Duquesne Capital Management, an institutional investment manager.
A call to Duquesne was not immediately returned.
On Monday, a statement on the Pittsburgh Steelers website said Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney and his son, Art Rooney II, the Steelers president, are arranging a financing plan to buy the shares of Dan Rooney's brothers in the football franchise.
The plan is designed to retain substantial ownership of the franchise by the Rooneys, the website said.
