Teach Your Kids or Grandma to Make and Sell Websites
UPDATE: I just uploaded an exclusive audio interview on How to Build and Sell Websites. It's FREE!
Now that I think about it, teaching kids to build websites is not as far fetched as it first seemed.
Kids are so comfortable with web applications, and putting up a self hosted website using Wordpress or a Wordpress.com hosting site is so easy, a kid can not only do it - but do it really well.
So when Mark Ress started teaching his kids they jumped right on it.
The big difference was that the kids were not trying to build complex authority sites, or write high converting sales letters, but a simple website with the right features and tweaks that could be easily SOLD for a tidy profit!
I listened to Mark talk about this recently - he even put his 9 year old daughter on the phone to talk about how she chose a market. She had built and sold websites on the popular program "High School Musical."
Once he began to share about how his kids had a contest with each other, resulting in the winner selling 7 websites over a weekend for a profit of more than $2500, I knew this was not just child's play.
Different from site flipping, creating sites in the right target market means you only spend less than $10 for a domain name - install a blog and configure it with some content, images, and monetization - and sell it without having to go through the cost and time of finding the buyer and making the deal.
If your site doesn't sell right away - it goes into your inventory of VRE or Virtual Real Estate and grows in age and value. While you are waiting to sell your property you add a little content, do a little marketing, and you'll have page rank, links and traffic, making it more valuable and monetizing it with any of a number of forms of making money passively.
Mark has taught his methods, which includes a step by step system for choosing markets, creating a site that sells, and his secret stash websites where you can quickly sell your creations quickly to a hungry market.
I'm going to be attending this class, as is my daughter Rachael, for a very selfish reason…
This sounds like a fun way to make money to me!
I wanted you to know about this class because it looks like an awesome business model for anyone who knows the HOW of putting up sites - and can follow directions on how to sell them.
If you have had limited success in making money on 1 site - or 1 method, you should consider taking this terrific training so you can start making and selling sites right away.
Whether you want your kids to start making money (less out of Mom or Dad's pocket) or if you can use a couple thousand or more dollars per month - then you should really check out this new audio interview How to Build and Sell Websites (even kids can do it!)
See you in class!

Believe it or not, I've already TRIED to get my 18 year old to do this. He spends hours a day on Myspace. I offered to "front" him the money for the domain name and even offered to install it for him.
It sounds great, but it requires something few 18 year olds have… (at least mine doesn't have it) discipline and drive. Sigh. I'm learning that everyone doesn't come equipped with those traits. I wonder how far my foot has to go up his arse to install that…

The fact that I can't afford it is proof that I need it. However, the fact remains. I can't afford it.
Being a Dad myself and knowing what freaks are on the internet. I do not feel its safe for Kids to be online….
Especially under the age of 15 with no supervision….
I think 15-18 could be good training years if your kid
really has interest….. Just my 2 cents
Not quite the hands-offs systematizing we were discussing last night - but definitely has the potential.
A little pricey for me - but when you can outsource with child labor (OK - Rachel doesn't fall in that category) it does become more appealing.
Be sure to do a follow up post.

I think it's an excellent idea. For the summer, my kids (12 and 10) are maintaining my blogs, managing my social networking profiles, and even starting their own monetized blogs in the children's niche.

Rick,
In the future could you provide an early warning…something like "this is a bit pricey for some" or "might be considered expensive" you get the idea.
Went through the whole sales letter (excellent) and then had "sticker shock" at the end. It is probably a great return on investment. However if you don't have the investment, the exercise of looking at a program, then geting excited with the possibilities is depressing. Actually it Sucks out loud.
I expect that I will reach a level where spending a thousand bucks or more for a program, system, software, etc. will be easy…but I'm not there yet.
Good product if one doesn't want to take the time to "do it themselves".
Regarding the Price:
Most people who are attempting to "make" their mark on the Internet fail to engage two Important assets they already possess, dedicated Time and Energy.
And still continue to pay ridiculous Cable and satellite TV subscriptions and drink way too much Star-too-many-Bucks.
