What If You Only Subscribed to FILTERED Shared Item Feeds?

Louis Gray said that "humans can still play an important role in filtering out the best of feeds from the rest". He himself is an example of a great human information filter with more than 2,000 shared items in Google Reader.

Louis Gray is a prolific Google Reader sharer. In fact, he shares more items than I could ever possibly read. So, I filtered Louis Gray's shared items and subscribed to a feed that only includes items that have also been shared by at least five other people.

I made a RSSmeme User Filter that takes the items shared by a specific Google Reader user and filters them by the number of shares. Enter a Google Reader user ID number (Louis Gray: 05763917848110205585) and the minimum number of times that an item must be shared in order to appear in the filtered feed. You can subscribe to the filtered feed using your favorite RSS reader.

This post intends to encourage RSSmeme and ReadBurner to provide an easy way to combine filters. RSSmeme is already working on it and I'm looking forward to using this feature when it's available.

UPDATE: This story is now obsolete because RSSmeme has an API.
