Off To All Points West

thumbnail icon: Off To All Points West

Hi guys. Sorry to do this, but we must interrupt our regularly scheduled blog day to head to Jersey City for the All Points West festival. (Here are the timetables.) Hopefully we'll see a bunch of you there, and if not, tell us how 88 BoaDrum is tonight, or Grizzly Bear is at their post-APW MHOW show, or, whatever you do in your hometown. We'll be back tomorrow with photos and the lay of the land as long as there are enough ferries to bring us back to the city. And sadly, it's been a great festival summer, but this is the last weekend we have together for Jack Johnson punchlines. So if the mood strikes you, we won't stop you. Have a good one, and be mellow to each other. (By the way that picture is Brandon's new avatar, and boyfriend.)

^^ Added a bass player, Dosh's new stuff is sick. (From what I saw at Mile High). amrit - you should get us some good reviews of The Roots and Trey sets. I'll promise to buy some neat Converses or an HP if you do.

I live in Jersey City and still don't want attend this shit festival. Who wants to stand amongst 10K people and end up watching Girl Talk on a television screen. I'll save my money and go to SXSW or CMJ where civilized folk go.

Went friday, it was the worst rock concert I've ever been to. Buying a beer was a horrendous ordeal, which pretty much crapped the whole day. Radiohead was OK. Girl talk and CSS and Grizlly Bear were awesome. Underworld was ok, but would be best at night. In the future, avoid APW at ALL COSTS!

APW was a horrible experience through and through. If it wasn't for a mega act like Radiohead to relieve people of all their stress at the end of the night there very well could have been small scale riots. The overall vibe until Radiohead took stage was overwhelming frustration and loathing. The facilities were about two thirds too small for the amount of people. There were only two bathroom clusters and three beer "corals" that where incredibly too small. For a concert taking place in Liberty Park I have never felt so many of my freedoms and liberties repressed at a concert. Also, Radiohead doesn't get off the hook either. They love to sell themselves as a band for the fans and very conscience about big business etc, yet they had no qualms with allying themselves with the money whores at APW.
