Bush Plan: Pull Out 5700

President Bush, in a prime time address tonight, will propose pulling just 5,700 troops out of Iraq by year's end, ABC News reports. The move is certain to anger Democrats, who will call it too little.
Bush's plan includes drawing the number of troops in Iraq down to 130,000, from 160,000, by next July, the New York Times reports. The number led to a nasty exchange between Bush and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who refuted Bush's claim that he was beginning a redeployment. "No you're not, Mr. President," Pelosi reportedly said. "You're just going back to pre-surge levels."
Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed will offer the Democratic response after what is expected to be an approximately 15 minute address from Bush.
