No Such Thing As An Accident
Have you ever stopped to think how even Christians can be superstitious. We use words like luck, chance, fate, and fortune even in meaningful contexts. Its like we unwittingly are acknowledging a power apart from God that influences and affects our lives.
A few weeks ago I began reading, The Mystery Of Providence by John Flavel. His exposition has led me to an earth shattering conclusion: THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS ACCIDENTS. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. For a believer all circumstances are by divine appointment.
One of the great challenges that Flavel makes is that we should remember and meditate on every time God has intervened on our behalf. I did that for a few minutes yesterday and it was like a domino effect. It will open your eyes to think how God has orchestrated even the tiniest of events to bring you to where you are right now. I am much comforted by the fact that as sinful as I am, even my sin cant thwart the kind providence of a holy God.
I challenge you to pick up Flavel if you get a chance (see I’m doing it already) and I leave you with this little nugget:
He that will watch Providence shall never want a Providence to watch.
- John Flavel

And as I read this morning - in this matter (as with all) - God does not err.
Brilliant!
