Weighing Your Options?

Weighing Your Options? It occurred to me the other day what I forfeit when I sin. We all know that life is about the choices we make but how often do we consider the implications of our choices? Especially in that quick second when it comes down to, “to sin or not to sin?”

I have found that the only way that I can defeat sin is to be ready before it hits. I have a “weighing the options” base that I retreat to whenever I am tempted. In other words, instead of just thinking am I going to do this or not, I am thinking, “am I going to worship the Lord by claiming obedience of more value than the temporary pleasure of sin?” I cannot claim title to this aid in fact it goes back to good old Moses…

“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.”
- Hebrews 11:24-26

So what sins are you facing today? Where do your values lie? Are you weighing your options?
