Zucker Slams Fox Biz: "Not In The Same Universe With Us"
Zucker: "It has focused us and made us better. Really, at this point, Fox Business Network is not in any way a threat to CNBC. It's not even, frankly, in the same universe with us."
Meanwhile, Zucker says, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, who represents the network's attempt to lure Fox News viewers, is tearing things up: "Morning Joe" is "probably the most underestimated program on that network." Take that!
OK, says a Fox spokesperson responded via TVNewser: "In Jeff's universe, where his entire career has been based on failing upwards, CNBC's performance would be considered a success."
Standard inter-network bickering, with a little extra edge: Fox News is basically at war with NBC U, with Fox & Friends' Steve Doocy taking on MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Fox News' Bill O'Reilly slamming NBC U parent GE for its business ties to Iran.
Apparently, Zucker talked about a lot of things with Charlie Rose, including (according to the metatags) Hulu, NBC, Saturday Night Live, and the Internet. The video below:

This is a guy who got promoted after running NBC into the ground and apparently thinks the network's continued hold on fourth place is a sign of success. His equally nasty protegee, Ben Silverman, has kept up the Zucker way at NBC...overseeing the continuing decline of a once proud broadcast network that now counts a game show hosted by Howie Mandel as its biggest audience draw. Wow, that's something to be proud of.
Zucker also has the proud distinction of having perennial third place cable news network MSNBC under his purview. They have tried to copy every one of CNN and FOX News' tricks and they still can't dig out of their hole. I see how it works in the Zucker universe...last is new first!
I laughed out loud when he talked about the Apple controversy. Yeah, that HULU is really a huge hit. Don't believe the PR spin numbers Zucker threw out her. They are questionable at best. Have you been to the site? It's a random mish mash of old junk and new junk. The video quality pales in comparison to what you can get on iTunes (paid) and the always excellent ABC website (free) and, being part of Zucker's "who cares what the consumer wants" empire, they don't make entire seasons of new shows available. While NewsCorp is indeed a part of HULU, unlike NBC they were not arrogant greed mongers and continue to offer content on iTunes. I love that Zucker had to cave and put NBC clips back on YouTube because HULUs traffic took a nose dive soon after its debut (post the safe halo of initial curiosity seekers).
I can think of no television executive less deserving of his position that Jeff Zucker. Oh, in case you are wondering, I have never worked for the guy or one of his networks or his direct competitors. I'm just sick of the verbal vomit spewed by the least consumer friendly executive in the television business.
