Webb visits Letterman

Virginia Sen. Jim Webb showed off his comedic skills Monday night when he appeared on the ``Late Show with David Letterman'' to promote his new book, ``A Time to Fight."

When he came out to greet Letterman, Webb found the carpet in front of the chairs to be a wet mess.

Letterman's first guest, actor Kevin Spacey, had asked for a Jamba Juice and then purposely spilled the entire cup over the carpet in a surprise gag.

The mess didn't seem to faze Webb, who was ready with a quip when he took the stage.

Webb promptly told Letterman he didn't want any Jamba Juice.

As for the mess, the senator said, ``We're the new Democratic party. We're used to cleaning up other people's messes."

The book tour continues today, with appearances scheduled on CNN's ``Lou Dobbs Tonight" and MSNBC's ``Countdown with Keith Olbermann."
