HOLLYWOOD -- Barbra Streisand thanked songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman for "their wisdom of life and love" as the pair was presented with the Founders Award at the 23rd annual ASCAP Film & Television Music Awards at the Beverly Hilton May 6.

Special presenters included Bergman's other long-time friends including Quincy Jones and Norman Lear.

"I consider Marilyn and Alan Bergman to be the best songwriting team to ever sit in front of a piano or a microphone," Jones said.

The three-time Oscar winning duo was saluted with a video tribute of selections from their contributions to the Great American Songbook complete with performances from pianist Mike Lang, Siedah Garrett and Lari White.

The black-tie gala also handed out nods to composers for the top box office film music and most preformed television music in 2007.
