GoLive2 reveals wireless Stix, we can't quite pinpoint the inspiration
Oh, that's right -- the Wiimote! For the second time in as many months we've got ourselves a bona fide Wiimote wannabe, except for the PC. GoLive2's Stix collection (200 / 400) are wireless motion-sensing controllers designed to play PC and internet-based games, with Games for Windows titles and "thousands of free web-based games" called out in particular. According to Brian Zheng, the president of Plahut, Stix will "completely change the way people experience online and PC gaming," though we definitely have our reservations about that. The Stix 200 will supposedly be compatible with just 2D games, while the Stix 400 gets down with 3D titles; pricing has yet to be disclosed, but feel free to waste your time check these out in August.

Will @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:59PM
That looks nothing like a wiimote. The A button is much too small.
Zed @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:13PM
i don't see the resemblance...
Greg @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:30AM
I've been using a wiimote with my computer for months now.
What idiot would waste their money on this?
Oh, right, the American public. Never mind...
DelSource @ Jul 3rd 2008 7:32AM
I know.
It's a copy of Sega's prototype Dreamcast motion sensing wand from 1999:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jakeway/Pics/GreenHillZone/DreamcastWond.jpg
Or it's a copy of GameTrak's motion sensing remote for PC (including gaming) which Eliot Myers started work on in the early 1990s.
Or it's a copy of Gyration's and Bridge Design's motion controller that they pitched and sold to Nintendo in around 2002.
And it's not far off those motion sensing controllers that fat American guy in shorts was using in that YouTube video (posted last year) to play a game very similar to Wii Sports Boxing in.....about 1999.
Take your pick.

deyanimay @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:48PM
Its a nintendo - sony hybrid. It has an "A" button and both the "X" and "O" buttons.
Jhongerkong @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:16PM
Its obviously a rip-off of the 360 controller.
BigD145 @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:45PM
I can't buy it. Whatever shall I do?
*wanders off to play on his Wii*
z0phi3l @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:49PM
I could use something like that, I want to use a spare PC for the kids and hook it up to the widescreen TV, already have a wireless keyboard for it, just need some sort of Mouse like device, and since the kids are used to using a Wiimote, this would be great.
deyanimay @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:02AM
why not just get a bluetooth adapter and use the actual wiimote since you already have one.
Shadyman @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:48AM
"thounsands"?
Nytrojen @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:22AM
this is *clearly* after the much sought after, yet misundertood stroke of genius: the Nintendo Dreamstation. Or maybe the "Vii". Either way, I died a little on the inside.
Zorque @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:50AM
"thounsands of free web-based games"
Oh, so it's a mouse. That you can use with Flash games. I never thought I'd see the day.
Jerome @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:08AM
Oh, you've gotten it all wrong. nothing like the wiimote. it has the ability to have GREEN light
dimension @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:10AM
That´s no Wiimote - Looks much more like the "Hagenuk Stick SR!" !!!
dimension @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:16AM
And even the Name is me-too !!! Life can be so simple !

I will not blast out the "W" word so I can be more sane an original then even this company. Seems like any propspective company these days will latch out on a hot idea and make their version nothign like it in quality. Where is the innovation these days? This remote better not slip off my writst and punch through my nice LCD screen...
Im surprised nintendo didn't have a ludicrous patent so they can sue the pants off these wanabe's...
Fruition @ Jul 3rd 2008 11:08AM
I read the title and thought "wireless Styx" and I was expecting to hear "Mr. Roboto" or "Come Sail Away".
tech_boy @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:32PM
wiimote. but i doubt it will ever b the same as the original.
