If one were to look at my “computer room”, what you would see is a conglomeration of components sitting on various computer desks.Â

It is quite functional and actually looks rather techie, at least to me. But I do have to admit that it is a rather hodge-podged assortment of furniture and components. One of the neat things that I would like to do, but would cost a small fortune, is to obtain a nice server rack, dump all my various boxes and replace them them rack mount cases. Nerd nirvana!
Â
I doubt that I will ever be able to afford such extravagance, but it is quite cool to see what can be done for the connected home. So, if you are a closet fan of server racks, look no further than this CEDIA News post. My favorite is the following.
Hello. I’m from the heartland of U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PC’s since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.
I’m not 100% positive, but I think that they are on swivel bases. iirc, some of the other racks did require some “inventive” methods to gain access to the wiring/components.
For me, I would love a rack. My problem, tho, is that I like to rearrange my HW. Kind of like the way my wife likes to rearrange the furniture. Rack = cool but Rack =/ flexible.

Any change you could post a higher resolution pic of the rack? Would really love to see what equipment is inside.

Sorry, I “ripped” these off the CEDIA site. What you see is what you get. Unfortunately…
But it would be nice to get a closer look.

some good racks on those sites… If only I could figure out how to win the lotto, or invent something everybody has to buy.

“Some people have way too much disposable income!”
Agreed. Unless I had that much disposable income. Then of course, I would be right there with them.

It is amazing how one’s perspective changes depending on where one is sitting! lol
