Blog Trafficking

Filed Under (Blogging, Social Networking, Traffic Generation) by Zacky on 27-04-2008

blogtraffic.png Want more traffic to your blog? Who doesn’t! All of us want to pull all and as much traffic as we can as long as we can. I have put together a list of several sites I use to generate traffic to my blog and these are my best method of getting good flow of traffic to my blog.

After blogging for awhile, I found there are several things users can do to help generate quality traffic to their blogs from other websites and search engines. One of the most important things you can do is to create incoming links to your blogs through various Web 2.0 sites.

This is what I usually do. Organize all the various web 2.0 sites that you have signed up into a folder in your browser. As soon as I have a new post in my blog, I just need to make my way down to the list in the folder and create links to my post from each of the sites.

Below are the sites I often use in getting traffic to my blog.

1. Facebook.com – This is one of the best ways to get traffic to your blog. After creating an account, search for groups on your topic and join that group. You can join as many group and you can often add your link to the group page. The key is to not spam the group! Make sure you post quality, relevant comments that add to the group. Remember that both your name and your blog are at stake. You don’t want to get chastised for posting spam comments with links to your blog. This will really look bad for your blog and is a BIG NO-NO.

2. MySpace.com – MySpace is another popular way to gain traffic and links. Post a link to your blogs in your intro or any of the other About Me modules. Start a blog through MySpace and leave reviews of your blogs as you create them. Again, the key here is to add quality content and only then other viewers will take action by visiting your blog.

3. YouTube.com - It is so easy to make a video and post it on YouTube. Sign up, add your video, and insert several keywords and keyword phrases to attract viewers from search engines and YouTube searches. Add a link to your blogs and give a call to action in the video’s description. YouTube is well loved by the search engines and a great way to pick up traffic.

4. Del.icio.us - Del.icio.us is a popular bookmarking service. Wordpress makes using this site easy – there’s a Del.icio.us button on every blogs! Just put the relevant tags and submit it. Just in case you don’t have this buttons on your blog, you can download the plugin and install it. Download here. You can see example of it in my blog under all my post. It makes it so easy to add your links after you write a new post.

5. digg.com – On digg.com, people share what they feel is the best stuff on the Net. Again Wordpress has a digg.com button on each blogs. You can download the plugin if you don’t have on your blog. You might generate a little bit of traffic through digg, but the trick to getting real long-term traffic, and links from blogs that pickup on digg, is by putting up plenty of quality links and news stories. You want to digg not only your own blogs. digg whatever you consider to be the best of what the web has to offer and others will soon follow you by digging and reading your posts.

6. Faves.com – Faves is a really easy way to pick up links, and it also offers a browser button. After publishing a blogs, just hit the Faves button and add it to my list. When you Fave your blogs, you can rate it, add tags and leave a review. Take note for Wordpress users - If your blog is hosted by WordPress, for security reasons, you are not permitted to add JavaScript to your blog. This means that you cannot add the slick JavaScript version of “Fave It” to your blog. You can add the ‘fall-back’ version of “Fave It”, by hand, to each post, but you cannot pass the url and title parameters so the user experience is not good.

7. Entrecard.com – Entrecard is a must now if you want loads of traffic. It’s easy to use and it’s using a drop system where you will get credit to advertise on other blog. Open an account and start dropping.

8. Reddit.com – It is very easy to add your link, a quick review, and keywords with reddit.com. Submit a link to the mix for others to vote up or down and leave comments. This site is extremely easy to use and it only takes a moment to add a link. Remember to use good keywords when submitting your link, as this helps the right people find your blogs.

9. Stumbleupon.com – There is a Stumbleupon button on each blogs and you can also add Stumbleupon to your browser. Give a blogs a thumbs up or down, add keywords, and leave a comment. Stumbling your blogs can really bring in a decent amount of traffic if used effectively. You can get others to stumble your blog too. Do a stumble exchange in your group and you will see good flow of traffic to your blog. Again, if you don’t have the button on your blog, you can download the plugin and install it. It will be very useful and you will love it.

10. Zimbio.com – Zimbio is great! It is very easy to submit your blogs and add it to a related group. After creating an account, you have to browse for wikizine and join before you can post your articles for others to read. You can also use your RSS feed to put your blogs on autofeed - bonus!. Search engines like Zimbio, so you should be able to expect loads of traffic coming from zimbio.

There are of course other sites you can use to help build links and traffic for your blogses, but these are some of my favorites. You can use these to help your blogs to get indexed quicker, to gain traffic, and to become more search engine friendly.

Please remember that people hate spam as much as you do. So do not spam, and do not pester others. Instead, contribute with quality content. Be nice to others and leave comments and reviews of others work, as this will help to gain the trust and have others follow your work in return.

You should try it..Facebook is one of the biggest social networking site now and just think what kind of traffic it can bring to your site if you know how to pull them the right way.

Cheers!

Internet marketing is all about 3 things; traffic, traffic and traffic :) My favorite is Blogskinny.com. When you submit post to Blogskinnny and approved you can submit to Digg directly through them. They will also submit to Del.icious and Technorati if you have account with them. I notice that Google index my posts through Blogskinny many times, so far it’s been useful source for me.
