'Terminator' Sequel Employs Common Sense
Rapper-actor Common joins Christian Bale and Sam Worthington
Halcyon Pictures is producing the latest entry in the "Terminator" franchise, which will be distributed domestically by Warner Bros with McG directing from a script by John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris, with a polish by Paul Haggis.
Christian Bale leads the cast, playing a 30-something John Connor, finally past his mopey teenage years and ready to lead the human revolution against the machines.
Common will play a member of Connor's inner circle, according to Variety.
Sam Worthington was previously announced for another lead role.
A May 22, 2009 release date has already been staked out.
Common's eighth album, "Invincible Summer," will open later this year. As an actor, his credits have included "Smokin' Aces," "American Gangster" and the upcoming "Wanted." Common was also attached to the on-again-off-again "Justice League" film.
