Fast National ratings for Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006

Ratings for Game 2 of the World Series Sunday jumped significantly from Saturday's opener, leading FOX to a ratings win for the night.

FOX, which also benefited from late-ending NFL games, averaged a 10.2 rating/16 share in primetime (with those numbers subject to change because of the live telecast). ABC and CBS tied for second at 8.4/13, with ABC having an edge in total viewers. NBC ceded the night, scoring a 3.3/5 with reruns. The CW posted a 1.6/2.

The margin among adults 18-49 was narrower, but FOX still led the way with a 5.4 rating. ABC was right behind at 5.2. CBS, 3.7, took third, followed by NBC, 2.1, and The CW, 0.9.

NFL overruns and the World Series pre-game show scored a 9.6/16 for FOX at 7 p.m. CBS got an 8.1/14 from "60 Minutes." ABC finished third with "America's Funniest Home Videos," 5.5/9. "Football Night in America" put NBC in fourth, while The CW went with a "Smallville" rerun.

Game 2 of the Detroit Tigers-St. Louis Cardinals World Series earned a 10.5/16 for FOX at 8 p.m. ABC moved into second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7.4/11. "The Amazing Race," 6.8/10, finished third for CBS. The first of three "Heroes" reruns on NBC was fourth, beating "7th Heaven," 2.1/3, on The CW.

"Desperate Housewives," 12.4/18, won the 9 p.m. hour for ABC and was the night's most-watched show. The World Series scored a 10.7/16 for FOX. "Cold Case," 9.2/13, kept CBS in third, while "Heroes" drew a 3.5/5 for NBC. The CW went with an "America's Next Top Model" repeat.

FOX returned to the lead at 10 p.m. as its baseball coverage earned a 10.1/16. "Without a Trace," 9.5/15, was second for CBS, beating ABC's "Brothers & Sisters," 8.3/13. "Heroes" delivered a 3.7/6 for NBC.

On Saturday, Game 1 of the World Series won the night for FOX with a 7.3/13. CBS and NBC tied for second at 4.0/7, while ABC trailed at 2.9/5.
