Kiefer Sutherland is a free man. Not only has he been out of jail since January this year, but now he no longer has the ol' ball and chain.

The "24" actor is finally divorced from former model Elizabeth Kelly Winn Sutherland -- four years after they filed papers, reports People.

A Superior Court judge signed off on the petition on Friday, May 16. According to court papers, his ex will drop the "Sutherland" from her name.

The couple married in June 1996 and has been separated for nine years. Sutherland, 41, filed for divorce in 2004, citing irreconcilable differences.

He was previously married to Camelia Kath from 1987-1990.

Sutherland will return to TV with a two-hour special premiere of "24," which will lead into the long-awaited seventh season of the FOX drama.
