More Money for Mose at 'The Office'
Writer-producer Michael Schur signs with Universal
Michael Schur, a writer and co-executive producer on NBC's Emmy-winning comedy -- and the occasional portrayer of Dwight's (Rainn Wilson) beet-farming cousin -- has signed an overall deal with the network's studio sibling, Universal Media Studios. The two-year agreement is worth seven figures, the showbiz trade papers say.
His primary concern under the new deal will be developing and producing the Amy Poehler show with "Office" executive producer Greg Daniels. That show, which grew out of talks for an "Office" spinoff but won't be connected to the older series, is in the process of hiring writers and is set to begin filming early next year.
Schur will also keep a hand in "The Office" and may reprise his role as Mose, who has developed a cult following among "Office" fans over his four appearances on the show.
Prior to joining "The Office," Schur worked as a writer and "Weekend Update" producer on "Saturday Night Live" from 1997-2004. He also worked on the HBO comedy "The Comeback."
