iGoogle for iPhone released, and it’s pretty good

Google has been launching stuff for iPhone like mad these days, and now they have finally released a version of iGoogle for the iPhone. Google also recently launched an updated interface that acts as a “Google Control Panel”, making it easy to switch between their popular services. Unfortunately, this new interface doesn’t yet give you access to iGoogle — something that I find a bit strange.

Since the new version of iGoogle is still stand-alone (visit http://www.google.com/ig on your iPhone or click here), and there haven’t been any official announcements, I am thinking it’s probably not 100% ready for production. Once it is, It would be nice to see it as part of the sexy “control panel” you see when visiting http://m.google.com on your iPhone.

How well does it work? It’s pretty good — in fact, I’ve set it as my homepage on my iPod Touch because it puts everything I use in one convenient place. However, there is one thing I wish it would let you do. It would be nice to have control over the order gadgets are displayed. As it stands, my Gmail is at the very bottom of my page, but that is something I would definitely like to see at the top — currently there is no way to change it.

Overall though, the new interface is functional, and user friendly. For anyone using iGoogle and has either an iPhone or iPod Touch, I would definitely recommend setting this as your default browser page.
