Wants site to somehow inspect every single uploaded file to make sure that it's not copyrighted. There's some interesting news out of Germany today whereby the District court of Dusseldorf has recently ordered the popular web hosting site Rapidshare to immediately begin blocking the uploading of copyrighted material to the site. The decision isn't final for if it decides to appeal the decision, which it obviously will, it will be several years before it reaches the Federal Court and a final conclusion on the site's fate is made. What makes the recent court decision so troubling for Rapidshare and so devastating if upheld on appeal, is that there is no way humanly or technologically possible for it to inspect each and every single uploaded file to make sure that it's not copyrighted material. Aside from actually sitting down and both listening to and watching every single music and movie file that graces its servers there's no way it could ever accomplish what the District court of Dusseldorf is asking it to do. Short of that it would mean the end of Rapidshare, which has quickly become the powerhouse of file-sharing for bloggers and others looking for an easy non-P2P method of sharing content.

Yes, have seen many times. They break em down BitTorrent style (14MB chunks) and created a series of links.
Yah Ive never liked it either - hated having my DL's limited and refused to become a premium member.....
You guys have no idea what you are talking about.
What do you expect. Free service? No one is going to do this for free. At least not giving unlimited bandwidth i.e. your maximum download rate.
I hope nothing is going to happen.
the only one that has managed to stay in business is mediafire and they delete links all the time and won't allow password-protected files, encrypted files and have no trans-load feature. you are a complete idiot to say there are so many services that are better than RS , because there are not, hence why you couldn't name any.
RS provides great service and value, for those willing to spend a couple bucks. If you are so cheap that you refuse to buy a 6-month account for only 30-euros, for unlimited bandwidth, privacy and speed you will never see on P2P, then you really should just stfu.
There are comparable services to rapidshare, but none with as many files. The closest would be megaupload, who has almost the same limitations and has similar prices.
Before you accuse someone for not doing their research, make sure you do your own.
