Team Europe is bringing Ruud reckoning in its quest to reclaim the Laver Cup.

Former French Open finalist Casper Ruud was named as the sixth and final member of the Team Europe roster by Captain Yannik Noah today.

The 2026 Laver Cup is set for London’s iconic O2 Arena, September 25-27th.

The 2026 Laver Cup is set for London’s iconic O2 Arena, September 25-27th.

World No. 13 Ruud joins No. 2 Alexander Zverev, reigning US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, No. 9 Flavio Cobolli,17th-ranked Jakub Mensik and No. 24 Rafael Jodar to complete a formidable Team Europe. Four of the six Team Europe players are either Grand Slam champions or major finalists.

Having narrowly missed out on the title in San Francisco last year, Noah has retained the core of his squad, with rising Spaniard Jodar the only new face for Team Europe as they look to reclaim the Laver Cup in London.

“The Laver Cup is one of the highlights of my season,” Ruud said. “There’s simply nothing else like it in tennis. The team atmosphere is incredible, and representing Europe always means a lot.

“We came up short last year, so there’s definitely extra motivation to put that right in London. Playing at The O2 again, with the British fans creating such a fantastic atmosphere, will make it even more special.”

Ruud will make his sixth straight Laver Cup appearance, having previously represented Team Europe in Boston (2021), London (2022), Vancouver (2023), Berlin (2024) and San Francisco (2025).

The three-time Grand Slam finalist, who lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the 2022 US Open final, will bring invaluable experience to Noah’s team. He boasts a 6-3 win-loss record in the competition and has enjoyed doubles success alongside Alcaraz, with the pair unbeaten in two Laver Cup matches together.

Team World Captain Andre Agassi and Vice Captain Pat Rafter return with several familiar faces on their roster.

World No.6  Alex de Minaur, former US Open semifinalist Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, who toppled Alcaraz at the 2025 Laver Cup, No. 11 Alexander Bublik, No.16 Learner Tien and No. 21 Tommy Paul lead Team World.

The Laver Cup returns to London and The O2 in 2026, the venue for one of the most iconic moments in tennis history, when Roger Federer played the final competitive match of his career alongside his great rival Rafael Nadal and fellow “Big Four” members Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in 2022.

The Grand Slam king and world No. 1 queen will join forces in a US Open mixed magic doubles pairing.

Former No. 1 Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka headline a star-studded field for the 2026 US Open Mixed Doubles championship.

Former No. 1 Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, who were 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles runner-ups to Italians Sara Errani and Andrea Vavasorri, will reprise their partnership. Former Indian Wells champion Jack Draper and former US Open finalist Jessica Pegula are also slated to partner for the second straight year.

Lululemon ambassadors Leylah Fernandez, the 2021 US Open finalist, and two-time semifinalist Frances Tiafoe will play together for the first time.

“We were trying to think of different partners, maybe who I can message. Frances was definitely at the top of my list,” Fernandez said.
“When I first messaged him, I knew he was playing with Hailey, and it was unfortunate that she sustained an injury at Roland Garros, but yes, I was kind of waiting a little bit.

“I was also trying to look at different options, but Frances came back to me and said, Yeah, let’s do it, let’s play, and
hopefully we can do well. It’s going to be a great atmosphere. I know he loves the energy, and I love it, too. Hopefully we can go far.”

De Minaur’s title defense will get underway against Gstaad champion Stefanos Tsitsipas. That’s a marquee matchup on paper, but Tsitsipas had been slumping in a major way prior his Gstaad success. Jakub Mensik or Brandon Nakashima could give De Minaur more problems in the last eight, while Fritz, Learner Tien, Tommy Paul, and Jack Draper are all in the top half. Paul, Draper, and Alex Michelsen are all unseeded in an extremely deep quarter of the bracket.

On the other side, Shelton and Tiafoe are on a collision course for the quarterfinals. They also squared off in the last eight of this event a year ago, when Shelton got the job done in straight sets. Both Americans have favorable draws and should be able to set up the rematch without too much trouble. Musetti’s comeback from a thigh issue will start against fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi, and another must-watch showdown in the opening round is Arthur Fils vs. Rafael Jodar.

As an ATP 250, the Los Cabos draw is understandably much weaker. However, it also has one can’t-miss showdown in the first round. Dimitrov and Moise Kouame, who are separated by 18 years, will go head-to-head right off the bat after both receiving wild cards into the tournament. The winner will face either Corentin Moutet or Jenson Brooksby before possibly running into Lehecka in the quarterfinals. Francisco Cerundolo and Martin Landaluce also find themselves in the top half of the draw.

Shapovalov is a horrendous 9-14 for his 2026 camapign, but he will try to find some form at an event that he won last summer. Rinky Hijikata is up first for the Canadian left-hander, while Darderi is a potential quarterfinal foe for either one of those two players. Darderi will be making surface change and also a quick turnaround after losing in the Estoril semis to Alexander Blockx on Saturday.

The famed Waldorf Astoria New York, which has been home to royalty, diplomats and Cole Porter’s piano, will welcome some of tennis’ top stars for a one-night exhibition next month.

Americans Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul, former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez and Maria Sakkari are scheduled to play the Waldorf’s Ballroom Tennis Invitational on August 27th.

A riveting rivalry was revisited by its iconic champion.

Twenty-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer visited the newly-rennovated Rafa Nadal Museum at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca.

Eight-time Wimbledon winner Federer returned to the Rafa Nadal Academy one year after his last visit and almost a decade after attending its official inauguration in October 2016, although this time Rafa Nadal was unfortunately unable to join him.

During the tour of the new Rafa Nadal Museum, Federer was accompanied by Sebastián Nadal, Rafa Nadal’s father, Gustavo Marcaccio, Tennis Director of the Rafa Nadal Academy, and Gonzalo Pérez, Manager of the Rafa Nadal Museum.

Federer, who has spoken enthusiastically about reviving the Fedal rivalry in a future exhibition tour, spent time in the gallery dedicated to the Big 3, one of the most representative spaces of the new exhibition. There, visitors can discover personal items donated by Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, as well as enjoy exclusive audiovisual content in which the three legends look back on how they experienced firsthand one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sport and the legacy they built together over more than two decades.

Afterward, Federer said he was emotionally moved revisiting the Big 3 rivalry.

“It’s wonderful to see everything. It’s beautiful,” Federer said of the musuem. “There’s an incredible amount of work behind it, but above all, it’s very emotional.”

Next month, Federer will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Seeing some of the racquets he used and apparel and shoes he wore in various Big 3 battles at the Rafa Nadal Museum brought back positive memories for Federer.

The Swiss Maestro was impressed by the transformation of the new Rafa Nadal Museum.

“I remember what it was like at the beginning, but now it’s truly spectacular,” Federer said. “It’s beautiful, it’s really very well done.

“It’s a very special place. Congratulations to the whole team. I’ve already told them personally: you’ve done a fantastic job.”

Youth Tennis San Diego will honor iconic champion Stan Smith and celebrate the 1970s in its annual Gala.

Organizers have announced the Dress Code Reveal for the 2026 Youth Tennis San Diego Annual Gala and will encourage guests to embrace Formal Retro ’70s Attire for an unforgettable evening celebrating tennis heritage, iconic figures, and the impact of Youth Tennis San Diego.
 
The Annual Gala, which will honor tennis legend Stan Smith, will take place from 6-10 p.m. (PDT) on Saturday, September 19 at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W Point Loma Blvd, San Diego, CA 92107.

Attendees will be asked to take a step back to the 1970s and dress in vintage-inspired suiting, elegant jumpsuits and flowing maxi dresses with bold prints, rich textures, and retro patterns, along with platform shoes and statement accessories.
 
“We are looking to have a lot of fun at this year’s YTSD Annual Gala. It’s going to be an unforgettable evening,” said Barnes Tennis Center / Youth Tennis San Diego Chief Executive Officer Ryan Redondo. “Everyone at the Gala will have an opportunity to show their Disco-era glamour with a polished, upscale touch.”

The theme of this year’s YTSD Gala is “An Evening Celebrating Tennis Heritage & Legends.” In addition to a special appearance by Smith, the evening will include a cocktail reception, dinner, silent and live auctions and a program highlighting YTSD’s community impact. The Gala will also   honor individuals who shaped the sport while celebrating the next generation of young people YTSD is helping to grow.
  
The Gala, the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, helps YTSD to continue serving more than 15,000 youth annually across more than 45 San Diego County community sites. YTSD also awards $500,000 in annual scholarships, and provides more than 500 hours of tutoring and academic support each year.
