The adaptor itself is fairly easy to use – just plug it in and it works well. It has shown promise in powering multiple small devices, such as GPS machines and mobile phones. Maintenance of the product is fairly simple. It has no moving parts, which means that it should not break unless it is mishandled or intentionally damaged. Of note is its sticker or mounting tape, which lets it supposedly stick securely to your dashboard. It is quite weak and will lose its adhesive properties fairly quickly, so a savvy consumer might need to plan for that.</p>

Throw in the fact that this battery charger is solar powered and you have a handy tool.</p>
<p>The Scosche SolBAT II can fully recharge many of today&#8217;s cell phones with some charge left over, due to its 1500mA lithium-ion battery capacity. The adapter for the charger is a type A USB cable, which is the standard size for most USB ports. The SolBAT II can be charged through a USB cable connected to the computer and can also be charged through a solar power panel.<br />

The Scosche SolBAT II, having dimensions of 1.9 x 5.4 x 8.5 inches, is very compact and easily carried. It is light-weight weighing only 5.6 ounces. It has a carabiner clip to connect it to your backpack or belt loops. It also comes with a clear plastic case equipped with suction cups so that you can connect it to a windshield or window for solar panel charging. It does not require any special care and thus is a low maintenance device.</p>
<p>The Scosche SolBAT II performs the job that it was designed to do. It&#8217;s battery charges up and it discharges well to charge other devices. It is very affordable, priced at only $20, and for that price it does a pretty good job.</p>
<p>The only set back found with the Scosche SolBAT II is the charging times. When connected for charging to a computer it can take up to four hours of time to fully charge. Whereas solar charging can take up to four to five days to fully charge the battery. The small design is the reason that the charging takes so long. In order to reduce the solar charging time more solar panels would need to be used thus making the charger bigger.</p>
<p>Overall the Scosche SolBAT II lives up to its calling. It does what it is supposed to and does it well. Anyone looking for an &#8216;off-the grid&#8217; charger for a great price should get the Scosche SolBAT II. </p>

It supports up to 150W for 12V and 300W for the 24V panels. It&#8217;s four stage charging mechanism conducts equalization, Pulse Width Modulation, Boost and Float, and temperature compensation. It has a regulations point voltage of 14.4 volts with a low voltage disconnect at 11.1V and a low voltage reconnect at 13.1V</p>
<p>This controller also has some other features you won&#8217;t find on similarly-priced models that make it easier to use. Osprey-Talon has designed this unit to allow you to turn the load off and on directly from the controller, whereas some other similar products require that you manually unplug the unit. It also gives you the ability to use up to 6mm2 or 10 guage wiring at the solar panel terminals; many others only allow for up to 4mm2 or 12 guage wire.<br />
<span id="more-443"></span><br />
Maintenance is pretty much automated with the HQRP solar power controller so you won&#8217;t have to do a whole lot at all to keep it up to specs. The automated load control is great and will save you from having to plug and unplug the unit when needed. </p>
<p>Also the electronic protections include lighting protection, short circuit and over current (solar and load), high voltage limitation to protect loads, reverse current at night, and a tropicalization conformal coated circuit board which helps to protect the circuits from extreme environmental conditions.</p>
<p>Those are just a few of the positive things to say about this controller and as far as drawbacks there are just a couple that should be mentioned before you consider purchasing. The included instructions in the package are minimal and simply show a diagram of the wiring connections. </p>
<p>If you are comfortable and knowledgable enough about your equipment this will not be a problem. Also the &#8220;LED Digital Display&#8221; as it is called is simply LED lights and not a &#8220;Display&#8221; as the wording might lead you to believe. This isn&#8217;t really a problem either considering the low price and you may already have a meter or another display wired into your circuit already. Overall the HQRP solar power controller does its job and does it well. It would be hard to find a better product for the price. </p>

I eventually decided on the Go Power! GP-RV-95 95-Watt Solar Kit with 25 Amp Digital Regulator, since its smaller size fit nicely with my smaller RV. </p>
<p>This solar kit purports to convert solar rays into free DC power, allowing you to charge electrical devices and batteries without relying on a permanent/grounded energy source. When you&#8217;re traveling cross country, having a reliable power source is a godsend, so I was more than happy to try this bad boy out.</p>
<p>The Go Power! GP-RV-95 95-Watt Solar Kit with 25 Amp Digital Regulator is one of the efficient models on the market, providing one of the highest power rates for a monocrystalline solar panel with the smallest amount of space. This particular Go Power! unit provides, on average, 5.45 amps of power per hours to charge your batteries with.<br />

It can also produce a bit of a charge when the clouds are out and the sky is a bit dull and grey as well, although not up to the 5.45 amps of a sunny day. The kit also comes with all of the wiring and mounting hardware needed to get it up and working right out of the box.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re new to the world of solar power, you may have a bit of difficulty setting the unit up, but I got the hang of it after consulting with my local automotive dealer. Maintenance is very easy, and luckily enough the kit comes with a 25 year warranty in case anything goes awry. I&#8217;ve had very good luck with mine, and haven&#8217;t had a problem as of yet. It does exactly what it says it should, and charges up my portable devices quickly and easily without having to stop and charge at an outlet.</p>
<p>The only downside I can see with this unit is that the size is a bit small for those needing more heavy duty charging. However, this unit is modular and easily expanded through the purchase and installation of additional panels. All in all, this thing has saved me a nice chunk of change as I travel cross-country and I couldn&#8217;t be happier with it. I give the Go Power! GP-RV-95 95-Watt Solar Kit with 25 Amp Digital Regulator my highest recommendation for anyone looking for solar power on the go. </p>
