Wuz up to all my buds out there... or at least to those who are still subscribed. Hard core man, hard core. Well I know it's been awhile but I'm back. Yes that's right, I'm back. A couple of years ago after "The Brunette's" passing, I took a left when I should've gone right. I walked toward the light, when I should've gone the other way, I said yes when I should've said chill and deal. So what's the result of all of these poor decisions? Well I was engaged and now am flying solo almost $10,000 later and a hard lesson learned. But... and that's a BIG BUTT, I am much wiser for it. Soooo that being said, I am here enjoying one of the few things that settle me down and that's the music. Specifically my 70's classic rock. I've got the live version of REO Speedwagon's "157 Riverside Avenue" blasting on the headset right now. Kevin talking to Gary, voice versus licks, amps versus decibels. Ya gotta love it!!! Hey people, welcome back for our 4th concert of the season. This week we are honored to bring you The Who. I am honoring the memory of my wife and best friend, Karen Barrett-Lopez (aka The Brunette), who I lost this past June to a severe asthma attack. A true classic rocker, Karen loved this group and especially their frontman Roger Daltrey as exhibited in the sidebar at the bottom.

Triumphs of the mid 60's to today. What's your favorite Who tune? For me it's "Baba O'Riley (Teenage Wasteland)". An awesome tune in it's own right, but that's just the start on a list of about 20 plus incredible chart-topping hits from this group.

Well, you know the routine... get the brewskies and headphones set up. Kick back and enjoy the show.

Welcome back everyone. We're excited to throw down this week with an awesome 70's classic rock group, Thin Lizzy. The tunes of this group ring in my ears stepping me into a time of headphones blasting and me performing both air guitar and air drums in a one-man show with a very high-spirited audience of one... myself.

Get the ice bucket filled and the headphones properly placed as we get down with one of the early gems from Ireland's submissions into the hard rock arena. I personally, though a little rusty, will be jammin' as I did back then with nothin' but... air.

What's up people? Artster is back and has just pressed the "play" button on the ol' VCR. I've got the Zep in mind to start our "Weekend Concert Series". Full, live concerts every weekend to get you back to a more chilled state of mind.

Today we present "Led Zeppelin - Live at Knebworth Festival (August 11,1979)". One of my favorite Zep shows after their historical The Song Remains the Same Tour of course. Spark up the incense, draw the shades and grab a brew because this will slip you back in time to a more chilled and mellow state. Get your chores and errands out of the way because if you're like me, I was in a trance for a few... hours afterwards.

Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day

As you may have heard, Led Zeppelin has been posting on their Facebook and Twitter about a huge announcement coming today.

On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature blues-infused rock ’n’ roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock And Roll,” “Kashmir,” and “Stairway To Heaven.”

The film of Celebration Day will see a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories on October 17. The theatrical screenings will follow premieres in London, Los Angeles, New York, and other major cities. Tickets for the public screenings will be available on September 13 via ledzeppelin.com.

On this day of the 11th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, I'm taken back to that morning at work, when a broadcaster broke into my morning music announcing that a commercial airliner crashed into the World Trade Center. Raising the volume so I wouldn't miss a detail of the report, I was able to pickup the anxiousness in the speakers voice.

We immediately turned on a small tv someone had in their office and the 20 or so employees all assembled around to view the live report. Gasps, cries and prayers filled the small office as the second plane was shown crashing into the other tower. An uncomfortable lump in my throat traveled down to the pit of my stomach where it sat all day.

Time stopped. Life stopped for those few days after the attacks. A variety of emotions surfaced. Anger, distrust and worry turned to supportive, unity and good 'ole American pride.

Here's a selection of videos that stir different emotions for me, but in the end the strength of the message rings clear as only The Who can play it.

Van Halen, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, will begin their tour on February 18th, with special performances from Kool & The Gang on select tour dates.

Van Halen debuted the first single, “Tattoo” off their new album, A Different Kind of Truth, set to release on February 7th. This is their first original studio album with singer David Lee Roth since the band’s classic multi-platinum album, 1984.

We're going to make a pit stop to visit one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. That's right Stevie Ray Vaughan is from big 'ol Texas and just north of San Anton in Austin is the SRV Monument. Now we can visit his tribute website any old time, but the Austin riverfront is definitely a Sunday afternoon must do.

Ahhh, great times on the cruise this week. Here's a little chit-chat for the ride home. Vinyl records. The smell. The clingy saran wrap that wouldn't let go of your hand as you flung it about. The awesome pix in the center of the "double album" sets. So what you say, well I'm getting to it. I recently heard from Mark over at VinylSearcher.com. He wants to share with you vinyl die hards an option to getting your hands on new and classic albums. They cover just about every genre you can imagine and some I've never heard of before. They specialize in hard-to-find LPs, so if you've searching and searching buhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gift just can't find that favorite album, drop by Vinyl Searchers and see what they can do for you.

Alright we're back. Hey thanks to you all for taking the cruise with us. We'll be doing more cruising in the upcoming weeks to share some great info and sites with you. Be sure to subscribe to our feed to be sure you don't miss anything. Also, keep an eye out for the "Concert Series" returning. The amphitheater behind the house has been remodeled and we'll be looking forward to the masses visiting and digging the classic rock line ups.

Hey guys, how's everyone been? It's been a while since I've posted anything of substance and well I guess I've let the creative juices get overtaken by an inherit handicapping work ethic and health issues. But I'm looking to get back to 70's Classic Rock blog and radio. If you haven't noticed the dot com is in use and the plan is to make it a full fledged website, which would include of course this blog, a forum, Classic Rock news, concert updates, record reviews and a token head shop (retail outlet) for starters.

70's Classic Rock Radio will be moved from LIVE365 to it's own website. It's been a hit with the music lovers, however only those with a VIP membership have been able to enjoy it. Once on it's dedicated website, everyone will be able to tune in and listen to 24/7 of the best, commercial-free Classic Rock on the web.

Until we get our licenses in order and make the switch over, I am going to give you a taste, of the great playlist we've put together, in the form of videos. Everyday until we have the station running on it's own dot.com.

I want to thank you all for hanging with us and I look forward to re-communicating with many of our old friends here.
