I can lean forward on my smart crutches and because the weight is distributed between my legs and my arms, they afford immediate relief, helping my posture.

As a woman who has had multiple sclerosis for over twenty-six years, I finally decided after a series of falls that I could no longer rely on walking safely on my own.

As it is important for me to keep my independence, I wondered if crutches might help. I went online to see if I could find anything suitable. I already had a pair of standard grey crutches, but they made my hands sore and they slipped in wet weather.

I quickly found this ‘Cool Crutch’ website and thought the Smartcrutch, with their lower arm support, might help me. I rang them in the UK and spoke to a very helpful man who answered all my questions and was perfectly happy to let me try them for a week after which I could return them if I didn’t like the feeling of walking with them.

On the contrary, I find them comfortable and easy to use. The sloping forearm with the handle makes a huge difference compared to my original upright forearm crutches. On days when my legs feel heavy and I need to rest frequently and there is nowhere sit down, I can lean forward on my crutches and because the weight is distributed between my legs and my arms, they afford immediate relief. I don’t hunch over with this design, as the crutches offer support which helps my posture.

Thank you for your help in my selection and final decision to buy the Smartcrutch

Bridgit is a unique mobility aid with an X Shape design that allows you to attach it to a single or pair of SmartCRUTCH’s that prevent them from falling over while not in use.

It also allows you to free your hands up and safely store your crutches out the way, preventing the need to bend down to pick them up.

Better than laying the SmartCRUTCH on the floor, Bridgit joins your two crutches together in an upright, stable X shape to rest against a wall in a safe and convenient manner.

It can also be used to hook your single SmartCRUTCH over the back of a chair or hand rail, keeping them out of the way but still within easy reach.

Bridgit is easy to use and suitable for all crutches and sticks between 18 – 25mm in diameter.

Hi Jason,

I hope all is well at Smartcrutch. I just wanted to tell you how happy I am with my crutches, I have purple and green ones which I use daily, and also to send you some pictures of the silver ones which I have decorated (with the help of some friends) ready for my wedding on 29th March.

I have always been very happy with Smartcrutches and I recommend them to anyone, particularly with EDS as they can be adjusted to different angles depending on what is hurting.

Thank you for all your help and advice, I’m sure I’ll be after another colour before long!

Best wishes

I’ve seen a few people using them, mainly at HMSA events, and envied others posting online that they have placed orders over the last few months. So now I’m excited to write this review after finally investing in a pair for myself!

I decided to go for purple, to match my boots. I wanted a fun colour having spent the last 3 years using ‘boring grey’ traditional NHS crutches. I particularly enjoyed the description that comes with each colour on the Smart Crutch website! I chose the Petite crutches due to my short stature, which came with extra foam pads to stick inside the cuff for additional support and ensuring a snug comfortable fit.

Oh My Gosh.

My Smart Crutches have seriously helped my walking. Like Seriously.

I could not be more happy with these and the customer service was a big 5 star! They are so nice and helpful!

My Smart Crutches are in the short leg size, even though people comment on how tall I am… yeah… I’m not tall. Also my hips do this funny thing where they like ‘sink’, I dunno, but they make me a good few inches shorter than normal, so the short leg size is perfect for me. When I am standing ‘normally’ I am around 5ft 5″

So with the Smart Crutch you have so much flexibility and no I don’t mean you’ll suddenly be doing the splits, there is just so much you can do with them!

Dear Jason,

Firstly I wanted to say I am really sorry for this taking me so long to write. I don’t really have a good enough excuse for leaving it quite this long.

I want to say a massive thank you, for your kindness and effort helping me get smart crutches and always answering my calls and questions.

Testimonial:

What can I say? These crutches have changed my life. They reversed my trapped nerves in my elbows, leave me in no added pain to my shoulders elbows and wrists. I can walk a lot further with these compared to the NHS crutches, which to be quite honest left me in agony. Before being recommend smart crutches by a fellow Ehlers-Danlos sufferer I was close to a wheelchair. But with smart crutches I still have my freedom. I’ve been using them for 3 months now and they haven’t really worn except the bottom bungs (or whatever you call them :)) I plan to use these until way after my hip replacement, which I’m sure they will help my recovery.

Many thanks Jason, you really have changed my life.

SmartCRUTCH Review for EDS User

So after much deliberating I finally bit the bullet and ordered a set. I had read reviews and seen so many other Ehlers-Danlos sufferers say good things, that I was really getting a little bit jealous of these amazing crutches.

Colour Range

The colour choice wasn’t difficult for me, but they have a glorious range to choose from. So once the order was placed the first of the emails started to arrive, first the confirmation of the order, then confirming payment. It was all very efficient. I was so excited I updated my twitter to let the smartcrutchuk team know. The next morning a flurry of emails, my parcel had been dispatched along with the tracking number being issued to me so I could monitor my delivery.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for setting aside the crutches yesterday and putting them together for me as well. Paul’s been trying them out and is delighted with them.

He had ligament damage to his hand but with these crutches he’s not got any pain in his hand. In fact he’s just gone out to throw the ball for the dog which is the first since his accident as he’s simply not been able to walk that far due to his hand.

Thank you and if you ever want a testimony I’m sure Paul would be happy to provide one.

Kind regards,

Namuni
