In the Alara Reborn novel and in promotional material around War of the Spark, Ajani is said to be unable to use magic on himself. Explicitly, he cannot heal his own wounds as his key iconic weakness. This creates dramatic tension in his fights. So when he started healing himself in the Secrets of Strixhaven, I took that as a hint that he wasn’t the Ajani we know. Should I wait for Reality Fracture to explain this imposter, or did I miss when he overcame his weakness?

A lot of characters have overcome early limitations on their own powers. Kaya can phase her whole body out, for instance. Ajani isn’t the Wolverine, healing still takes time and effort which isn’t usually possible mid-fight.

Just a bit of curiosity on Capenna When the Archdemons and Archangels created the original tower was it essentially a pillar like magical construct that survivors then escaped into and and then climbed via the elevators? always imagined a piercing shard of earth rising to the heavens and then that same pillar of earth is how they built the city atop.

In “The Contract Breaker” Perrie climbs down the length of a girder that juts straight out of a broken castle. The implication being the foundation of the city at least appeared directly, breaking through the old country below.

It didn’t do great across the board, so not like Time Spiral.

This might be one of my deepest disappointments in Magic, cause man that set rocked. Would have loved to get more "early Magic set re-dos" in that vein.

On the flavor text for Giant Badgers it mentions Karli, the desert mage. Is she a mage from the desert, or does she have desert powers like Hazezon?

Hi Jay, been loving all the cards from MBC and all the deep cuts to older characters and lore. There’s also a handful of new characters that I’m excited to learn more about as well like Homer, the Hermit! Is there any lore you’re able to share about him? Is he from Nautcis or some other plane? Or are the newer MBC legends similar to jumpstart ones and don’t have a lot of lore to them yet?

I wasn't involved with MBC and so I don't have any information that isn't public knowledge.

For Homer, he has a scale Homarid on his claw, which seems to indicate Dominaria or Nauctis.

He's also a Tarot reference (the Hermit), like Flubs the Fool and Massimo the Magician.

Alara, Arcavios, Avishkar, Ixalan, and Innistrad probably. Based on Astrolabes and Orrerys and such.

There’s a number of other planes that probably have one but it’s never been confirmed in fiction.

So, “no Bolas, no Eldrazi, no Phyrexia” – like, at all? Does it mean that in Echoverse there was no Talon Gates, no Demon-Leviathan, no war of Elder Dragons? Zendikar is free of hedrons and of the Roil? The Thran Empire wasn’t destroyed? The Brothers’ War never happened? Or did Jace just remove them all from some point in time, like, prevented Karn from bringing oil to Mirrodin, so Phyrexia wasn’t reborn?

In the “Reality Fracture | The Story So Far with The Magic the Gathering Podcast,” beginning around 2:03 it says that “The elder dragon, Ugin, watches over his brother, Nicol Bolas, who is imprisoned by Jace himself.” I thought Ugin had imprisoned Bolas, so is this a mistake, something else, or were they just trying to say that Jace fooled others into thinking that Bolas was dead?
