So far in 2026 the Blues have 4-0 first quarter and 4-0 first half records, but they have only won one game. Adelaide, in contrast, have been slow starters this year. The Crows have a 1-3 first quarter and 1-3 first half record this season. Carlton will have to make do without key defender Jacob Weitering, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they again lead at halftime but fail to lose the game.

North Melbourne vs. Brisbane

Brisbane in the head-to-head at 1.17 (Dabble)

Brisbane suffered a shock draw against North Melbourne last season, so there will be no complacency this time around. Prior to that, the Lions had mauled the Kangaroos 156-48, 152-77 and 112-42.

Essendon vs. Melbourne

Essendon can probably thank the mounting injury list for the Western Bulldogs for keeping the score line somewhat respectable last week. The Bombers were down by 30+ after just one quarter, however, and they are now riding a 17-game losing streak. The new-look Demons bring wins over Carlton and Gold Coast into this game. They don’t have a track record of thrashing Essendon, however. With the data set I have at hand (which goes back to 2009), all ten of Melbourne’s wins over Essendon were by 1-39 margins. Over the last twelve months, eight of the Demons’ ten wins were by 1-39 margins too. My lean is towards a competitive win for Melbourne.

Geelong vs. West Coast

Geelong in the head-to-head at 1.10 (betr, Dabble)

Geelong will be keen to bounce back from their one-point defeat to Hawthorn last week. Unfortunately for West Coast, Geelong have gone 5-1 on the back of a defeat over the last twelve months. West Coast haven’t beaten Geelong outside of Perth since 2006. With the data set I have, 9 of West Coast’s last ten defeats to Geelong outside of Perth were by 40+ points.

West Ham vs. Wolves

Draw at 3.75 (Dabble)

It’s hard to find a lean for either team. West Ham are unbeaten as the home favourite over the last twelve months, however they have only won three home games this season. They are also sweating on the fitness of Crysencio Summerville. The Hammers are winless in the six league games that he hasn’t played this season. Wolves bring season-best form into this game, however they have yet to win an away game this season and they have a terrible record at Olympic Stadium. Despite having a tricky recent fixture list, Wolves have only lost one of their last six games, so I will back a stalemate. West Ham’s last three home games resulted in a draw and their home FA Cup game against Leeds last week was also drawn at full-time.

Burnley vs. Brighton

Ten out of Burnley’s fifteen home games this season went under 2.5 goals and the same can be said for their last three games against Brighton. Brighton’s last three games coming into this fixture went under 2.5 goals. Those looking for less risk should consider Under 3.5 goals. All six of Brighton’s previous EPL visits to Turf Moore went under 3.5 goals.

Liverpool vs. Fulham

Fulham +1.5 at 1.52 (bet365)

This fixture is sandwiched between Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final midweek games against PSG, while Fulham have no midweek commitments before or after this game. Liverpool are winless in their last three league games and they were hammered 4-0 by Man City in the FA Cup quarter-finals last week. Fulham have only lost one of their last five and you have to go back to 2018 for the last time that they failed to cover the +1.5 handicap at Anfield.

Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle

Newcastle +0.5 (double chance) at 1.46 (Betfair)

This is bet is based primarily on circumstances. Crystal Palace are into the quarter-finals of a European football tournament for the first time in the club’s history. They play midweek UEFA Conference League fixtures against Fiorentina both before and after this game, while Newcastle have no midweek commitments. Newcastle haven’t won at Selhurst Park since 2020 and they have only won four away games this season, so I will play it safe and take Newcastle in the handicap rather than the head-to-head. Palace have only won three home games this season, so I’m confident that Newcastle can avoid defeat, especially given Palace’s European circumstances.

Chelsea vs. Man City

Man City are unbeaten in their last nine EPL fixtures against Chelsea. City bring an eight-game unbeaten streak into this game, while Chelsea have lost three of their last four.

This venue has an average total score of 52.0 and the Force’s two previous visits to this venue averaged 44.5 total points. The Drua’s three fixtures at this venue so far this season saw 46.0 total points, on average. All three of the Force’s previous games in Fiji went under the bookmaker’s total.

Hurricanes vs. Blues

This is the best game of the round, given both sides bring four-game winning streaks into this fixture. My lean is towards the visitors in the handicap market. With the data I have at hand, Sydney have gone 13-0 in their last thirteen meetings as the favourite against West Coast. Seven of their last eight wins over the Eagles in Perth were by 25+ margins. West Coast bring rare back-to-back wins into this game, but they were over far weaker opposition than Sydney. In both of those wins, the Eagles were behind by 29+ points at one stage. The absence of Errol Gulden hurts Sydney, so I will shy away from the line market. Given the Eagles’ 0-3 first quarter and 0-3 first half records this season, I will back Sydney in the SGM market.

Melbourne vs. Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns have gone 13-4 as the bookmaker’s favourite over the last twelve months and that includes a 5-2 record as the away favourite. Over the last twelve months, 12 of Melbourne’s 13 defeats were by 1-39 margins. The Dees covered the line in their last five home games and over the last twelve months they have gone 4-1 at the line as the home underdog. The injury absence of Christian Petracca (1-3 weeks) will further dent the Suns’ 40+ chances.

Western Bulldogs vs. Essendon

Western Bulldogs 40+ at 1.18 (BetEstate)

When the Western Bulldogs win at home, they tend to win big. Over the last twelve months all seven of their home wins were by 40+ margins. It’s no coincidence then that the Bulldogs have gone 7-3 at the line as the home favourite over the last twelve months. The Bulldogs played Essendon twice last year and they won those fixtures by 91 and 93 point margins. The 1.18 odds quoted above may seem miserly, but the 40+ with other major bookmakers is as low as 1.11 at the time of writing.

Brisbane have won seven in a row against St Kilda and that includes five consecutive away wins over the Saints. The Lions covered the line in all five of those away wins.

Fremantle vs. Richmond

Blues vs. Fijian Drua

The Blues have gone 5-0 as the home favourite over the last twelve months. Thee Aucklanders have covered the line in their last six home games as well as their last six games, both home and away. Over the last twelve months, five of their six home wins were by 13+ margins. Since the Fijian Drua entered Super Rugby their away record is an appalling 1-30. Spanning this season and the last, they failed to cover the line in their last six away games. Over the last twelve months, all four of their away games resulted in 13+ defeats. All five of the Drua’s previous five games against the Blues resulted in 13+ defeats and their last three defeats to the Aucklanders were by 24+ margins. The 13+ odds quoted above might not last. Force vs. Chiefs

The Force have been fast starters this season. They dominated the first half but somehow trailed at the break against the Brumbies in Round 1. They will be well rested following their bye, while the Chiefs have lost lock Tupou Vaa’i, centre Daniel Rona, and outside back Lalakai Foketi to injury last week. I’m not prepared to back the Force to win at fulltime, however, given they failed to cover the line in their last four home games and they have lost eight in a row to the Chiefs. The Chiefs blew a 17-point lead last week to lose to the Brumbies, but the Hamilton side has gone 5-0 in the head-to-head and 4-1 at the line on the back of a defeat over the last twelve months.
