I don't normally write reviews so this is a first for me. I felt compelled to write because I love the product, I appreciated the other customers' generally-positive reviews for this product but was also touched that the vendor took the time to include a note of appreciation for my business. I was impressed that they shipped it to me with such haste I had to double-check I did not pay for priority handling. I checked the product's functions with my new ipad 2 and everything seems to work well. I was primarily interested in the SD/microSD card compatibility and composite AV connectivity to the TV and they work great. It is really a handy little "pocket-knife" kind of AV device and does what is claimed. Thanks for a positive buying experience.

This connection kit made loading pictures from my camera extremely easy. I have not tried the AV output, but the inputs work great on the the ipad2. I tried it on a ipod, but it did not recognize it. All in All I am happy with this product.

This is the perfect iPad carrying case. I already use the official Apple iPad Case that folds over to protect the iPad from daily use, but now I will be able to carry it without worrying it will slip from my hands. I have been searching for a quality made carrying case with handles that would make it easier to carry my iPad from place to place. The AmazonBasics Netbook bag has been the answer. Unlike other iPad carrying cases I have been eyeballing, this Netbook bag is extremely affordable. The rubber grip zippers operate with ease and it is padded for added protection. I can even fit my iPad in it's case inside this bag without having to jam it in, there is plenty of extra room to spare. The side compartment is great to store my portable AC power adapter and digital camera. Great product.

Well I am simply surprised. I have 4-5 other netbook cases and this one is significantly better than all of them, for a lower price (a word on pricing later):

* The handles are the right thickness and "feel" - they aren't just webbing that seems like an afterthought and feels uncomfortable, they appear to be made of a thinner Neoprene style material with stitching on the "grab" area to create a nicely-formed, nice-feeling, handle. At first I thought there was a "stiffener" inserted in the handle area to give it more shape and "grippability," but apparently its just a good choice of materials and a well-executed design. You won't need any additional handle wrapper to be comfortable!

- I have another zipper case with a handle but would never feel comfortable carrying it by the handle around town. The handle is too flimsy to be comfortable and I don't trust the security of the construction/stitching. This AmazonBasics case is completely different. I feel like I can have my normal day back and carry this one by hand for quick and easy access on a commuter train or bus.

* The zipper, which runs only across the top and down each side about 2", is robust-looking - it isn't one of those "narrow gauge" flimsy looking zippers (technically, it is a "coil" not a "flat lock" design).

* As another reviewer mentioned, the zipper tabs are large enough to find and operate quickly and easily, and they are a "soft rubber" that feels good to the touch. One minor negative is the large "amazon basics" lettering on the zipper pull. Actually it is beginning to grow on me - yeah baby, I am too cheap (and too smart?) for Belkin or Built! (And got a better designed product.)

* There is NO zipper or "single stitch seam" at the bottom of the bag. Look carefully at some other designs. Make sure that when you send the bag down there is actual padding on the bottom of the bag so the netbook won't "slam" down hard on the table top, floor, etc. Some bags are just Neoprene panels that are sewn together at the seams along the perimeter, and the stitching compresses the Neoprene at the perimeter so it can't do its cushioning job.

- My netbook nestles between the "panel seams" (the bag has two flat side panels, then a perimeter panel to give it width, just like a "normal," larger bag) and rests on normal thickness Neoprene.

* Because the zipper isn't full length on the sides (you only need the zipper across the top, it is plenty wide, for getting the netbook in and out), there is less risk of failing to close the zipper completely and having the device slip out one end.

* The inside of this bag is ORANGE so you can easily make sure you haven't left something inside.

* There is a zippered side-slot on the exterior of the bag which may, in fact, be large enough for a Nook as another reviewer noted. There is ample room for a typical power brick with cord, although that would pretty much ruin the appearance of the bag for carrying, but would be helpful for transiting security (if you have to remove power bricks as well as small computers).

- I checked this side-slot for use with both an external DVD player and with a couple of external hard drives. All fit with room to spare (well, not at the same time!).

- My preferred use for this side slot is to carry memory sticks and an older (3rd gen) iPod Touch. The Touch "boots up" much more quickly than a netbook for quick email and Facebook monitoring.

Recommended modifications/usage adjustments:

- I will put some orange duct tape on one handle so I can keep a better eye on this through airport security (although I try to put my computer bag under my shoes and jacket in the bin through security).

- If I end up not liking the Amazon zipper pulls, it is a simple job to cut them off and replace with lanyard style zipper pulls from REI or other sources. But I think I will keep the stock zipper pulls.

- I will probably find an extra microfiber cloth and roll it up length-wise and lay it down across the entire width of the bottom seam to add extra padding there. It's always handy to have a microfiber cloth around anyway, for wiping the screen on the netbook (not required often) or for wiping my iPod Touch screen (required more often).

- I won't store the power brick in the side slot. I don't like the bulge, not for appearance reasons so much as because it creates a potential pressure point against the netbook side. I will store a DVD player or external hard drive if I decide to carry one (the DVD player is useful for playing DVD's purchased on a trip, the external hard drive is useful if I am taking a low-capacity netbook in which I have installed an SSD - solid state drive - instead of a conventional hard drive).

Since I bought my netbook, I've been on the hunt for the perfect small case to tote it in. Almost every case I've used has been lacking in some way, but the AmazonBasics Netbook Bag with Handle comes the closest to the perfect case for me of anything I've tried thus far.

Yes, I said it comes the closest, which implies there is something missing, so I'll start with that. It's a pretty minor thing, really, which is why I think the bag still deserves 5 stars. The only thing I would change is I would add a detachable shoulder strap. It's a small detail and one easily remedied by purchasing a universal shoulder strap to it. But if it already had that feature, it would be perfect in my eyes.

Let's move on to what I really appreciate about this case. First and formost, it fits my 10" Asus 1000HE very well while maintaining a small form factor that easily fits inside a larger case. The handles make it easy to pick up and run with when you want to leave the larger case behind and just tote the netbook with you.

On top of that, the zippered side pocket is roomy enough to hold the power adapter for my netbook without `squishing' it. Similar cases have had pockets that were too tight and worried me that they may damage the cable if I stuffed it in them. I have used the 4 hour Chlor-Trimeton for years. I live in New York City and have discovered that the drug stores not longer carry it. Don't know why. I was pleased to see it still for sale online, but am wondering if it is still being manufactured. Does anyone know?

I like the 4 hr tablet, so I can take it at night and do not have the effects of it in the morning. I am sensitive to medication and most antihistamines make me very sleepy. This tablet is just mild enough and just strong enough for my allergies and when I have a cold.

I've tried all the latest and greatest allergy medications on the market, and I always fall back to this reliable solution. It's been around for years and works great everytime.

As soon as I feel my allergies are going to get out of control, I pop one of these and boom, everything dries right up. Does bring you down a step, with regards to drowsiness, but nothing as bad as Benadryl. I can definitely take it in the morning and work through my morning without it "affecting" me.

Definitely recommend this. At least give it a try. It's not terribly expensive.

I've extensively used a lot of tablets, due to both longtime interest in mobile technology, and my line of work. To give you an idea of my frame of reference, I've either owned or used the following tablets: Ipad 2 (owned), HP Touchpad (owned - 2011 firesale!), Motorola Xoom / Galaxy Tab 10.1, LG G, original Asus Transformer (work). Heck, I've owned the following Windows Mobile / PocketPC devices from back in the day - HP Jornada, Toshiba e800. My phone is the iPhone 4.

With that said, this is one of the best tech gadget I've ever owned. The unanimous rave industry reviews (and very positive end user reviewers, even taking wifi issues etc. into account) aren't wrong.

* BUILD AND FORM FACTOR: evocative of but actually feels higher quality than the Ipad 2 and Macbook Air, which is a minor miracle at this price point. Beautifully machined aluminum, minimalist but not cold. The resolution of the screen is the best out of any current tablet, and can be crazily bright enough that it is useable outdoors in sunlight. It's definitely a fingerprint magnet though.

* COLOR - for those deciding between the gray or champagne, I received the champagne, and I actually called to confirm that I received the right one. It's much more silver than gold, it's basically silver aluminum with some gold highlights when the light catches it the right way. This is *exactly* what I wanted - it's reminiscent of the classic aluminum MacBook Pros, but with a touch of warmth from the gold. In short - it's not very gold at all.

* PROCESSOR - the Tegra 3 quad core processor is noticeably snappy, making the whole experience (even with Honeycomb) feel next gen. I've been getting great battery life, ~ 10-12 hours of normal mixed used, on balanced setting. With the dock, you're at 18+ hours. The NVIDIA fifth "stealth core" does its job seamlessly. It just works. For a quad core tablet with blazing power, this is again pretty mind-bending and next-gen. Is a quad core necessary? Strictly speaking, no. The Tegra 2 / OMAP / Snapdragon tablets do just fine, for the most part (although the un-overclocked Touchpad is noticeably slow), but every non ipad tablet lagged behind the iPad 2 in terms of real world performance (opening menus, browsing, launching apps). This isn't because Apple's processor is faster, but rather because if the sheer level of optimization between Apple hardware and software, which is industry-leading. With the Tegra 3 processor, though, this is the first non Apple tablet that both objectively is, and also noticeably feels, faster, more responsive, and more powerful than the iPad 2. It just brute forces past all of the Apple optimizations. For me, that is huge, especially if I'm going to be spending over 0 on something. Slowly but surely, more and more apps are optimizing for quad core (especially games), but even without that, I'd get a quad core for the general performance benefits alone, as it translates across every app.

* OS / SW - I really like the iOS UI for phones, it's simple yet powerful, but for a tablet it's always just felt incredibly limiting / frustrating / slightly condescending. I even prefer WebOS to it. Android Honeycomb is a nice balance between power, customization and being relatively easy to pick up, just perfect for the tablet form factor. My 2 year old toddler figured out how to use it in about 20 seconds (similar to WebOS and iOS). That being said, I'm looking forward to ICS, which should make things even more stable (HC still crashes occasionally)and uniform. The fact that the Prime gets an ICS in a month or two is fantastic. The pre-loaded Asus apps are relatively minimal and unobtrusive, and some actually are quite nice, such as the Asus cloud. Polaris Office is solid. The Android Market could be improved though, especially in terms of sorting and organization. Finding the right app can be a bit of a crapshoot.

CONS: Basically the same nits as others have pointed out.

* SPEAKER: the rear-facing speaker placement is a bit dumb, because it gets covered up relatively easily by your hands or when you set it down. However, you can still hear it even if it's completely covered, it's pretty loud, and it's located where the tablet tapers inwards so it doesn't get completely covered by a flat surface when setting it down. I don't mind the lack of a second speaker per se, as you hardly get stereo sound from any of the other tablets that have two speakers. I would say the sound quality of the Prime is on par with any other tablet, but it is just a bit easier to muffle. A jawbone jambox bluetooth speaker or the like works beautifully to supplement this tablet. It's certainly not needed, but it's a nice addition.

* CHARGER - the proprietary charger really annoys me. Until Asus comes out with more accessories, I'm basically stuck with using my one charging cord. Even charging via the dock... Read more

****Update January 23, 2012: I thought I would post that I have decided to return my Prime TF201. I'm on my second one actually because of a few problems. I still think that this is a great device for those that aren't having the problems. But for me, it just wasn't worth the hassle.
I have 2 problems. First are the physical defect on both that I received. The first one, as I mentioned below in my initial review, was the scratch on the Gorilla Glass. Had I put the scratch there, I wouldn't have a problem because it isn't scratch proof, rather, it is only scratch resistant. So I went on to tablet #2 and there are no scratches on the screen this time, however, there are dents on the silver border around the screen when looking at it straight on. One at the top and 2 at the bottom. While this may not bother some, I'm paying good money for this and I want it as close to flawless as possible. Also, the port for charging seems to be dented a little as well. It still fit the charger, but it looks like someone pressed really hard on the metal around the port and bent it downward. AGHH
Problem 2: The second problem, on both devices is that once upgraded to ICS, I have numerous lockups and reboot problems. Too many to consider keeping it. I feel that this isn't really the Prime's fault but more an ICS problem, and may be fixed in a future update, but I can't take it. On the first tablet, it happens while doing any simple task, like scrolling thru a page on the default browser, or playing a simple game, or using the camera. It is just not acceptable for me. It locks up for about what seems to be 20 seconds, then automatically reboots itself. Then it is good for a short while, like 15 minutes, and then it does the same thing. I really hate making this decision but it just has to be done. Also, for those concerned, the GPS update seemed to help mine slightly for locking onto satellites with no WIFI turned on, but was still not very strong. And the Wifi strength, after careful testing and review, was just too weak. Dropping it a star due to both of them having physical defects.

****Update January 9, 2012: I just received my Ice Cream Sandwich update to 4.0.3 and it went smoothly, plus there was another camera update as well right afterwards. When the tablet boots up now, it gives the option to unlock and go to the main screen if you swipe to the right, or go straight to the camera if you swipe to the left.
I was hoping for the ability to move apps to the SD card, but no such luck yet. Mine is not rooted. Although my bootup time went from 3 mins 30 secs down to 1 min 31 secs with ICS then even down to 1 min 20 secs the next time I booted up. I like the long hold on the main screen for Live Wallpapers and plain photo wallpapers.
For those that thought ICS may improve GPS functionality, it did not for mine. I figured as much, but thought I'd test it out. Wifi seems the same as before the update. Though mine seems very good cause I'm always near the router. (But like I said below, I'm NOT using this for GPS functionality. If you are, and you like the Prime for the specs, wait for the new Prime TF700t. Even though in my opinion, it doesn't look as nice and it costs more. Or wait for the smaller 7" tablet, unnamed as of yet, which will also run ICS and have the Tegra 3 processor. ANd it will only be 9.00. Or look around. Lots to choose from.)
Looks like they also included an updated version of the web browser. I also see a Downloads App in the app section.
I like the transitions from screen to screen in the app section as well. Although, while scrolling to the Widgets section after the apps, mine just locked up and this was after 5 mins from a fresh boot. Not sure what that was about. I couldn't do anything but the tablet rebooted on its own. I'm sure there will be updates to come to clear any glitches.

****Update January 3, 2012: for those concerned about the locked bootloader, Asus made an announcement they they will provide an unlock key to allow root access at the risk of the user voiding the warranty. Here is hoping that Asus holds true to their promise, but they usually do. GPS is another issue for those concerned about it. I put my star rating back to 5 because Asus has been very good with updates and listening to the buyers. I just wish there was a way to get a plastic backing to replace the aluminum one for those that need GPS fixed to their wishes. I hope you all are enjoying your Prime as much as I am. And those of you waiting for yours to arrive, I'm sure you will enjoy it, just be aware of the issues before getting it. Or cancel your order and wait for a better option. Don't forget CES 2012 is right around the corner Jan 10-13. Maybe there will be something more suited to your needs.

Hi guys,

Figured I'd stop by since this is the hot toy for the Christmas season !
I purchased the 32GB champagne color. I havent put T201 thru its paces yet but
did perform some testing.

Quality =
Fit and finish is 100%, Very solid feel.

Size =
Very thin, kinda difficult to hold in hand, I'd recommend purchasing a gel case
or something similar.

Gaming =
Played the pre-install games and they both ran with 0 stutters and were
extremely fluid. did i purchase a a multipurpose tablet or a gaming tablet... i think the latter :)

Performance =
Tablet was completely fluid when changing from one screen to the next, i especially like the multi window
tab on the bottom left, it will allow you to select anything previously opened (and will allow you to close too)

Built in music player seemed basic and didnt appear to have the ability to download album art. I'll stick with
amazon cloud mp3 player.

Web =
(subjet to further testing) web browsing seemed to be alittle slow, this was experienced with java enabled... with disabled performance was snappy and good

YouTube & amazon streaming =
using the youtube app , it was a beautiful display and worked flawlessly. Amazon needs to make an app to stream their prime videos instead of going thru the web... however once a few buttons are pressed the video does fill the entire screen and works. Please note imbedded youtube in web DID NOT display any stutter or frame drops.

Sound =
Unfortunately this is what caused me to give 4 instead of 5 stars. The audio is quite loud and clear
however only being emitted from a single speaker port does not provide the spartial/stereo sound. perhaps
blue tooth or headset will eliminate this concern.

Camera =
Front facing 1.2MP camera provided acceptable image quality, however white balance should be adjusted to fully ensure quality (dont use automatic) , rear facing camera provided a good quality picture with decent focus and brightness... even in poor lighting conditions however any zoom used the image would be blurry depending upon x2 x3 etc. video mode was tested with low movement and provided a better quality then my nikon p500 (p500 seems to be abit jumpy).

Battery life =
Unable to report at this time since testing was limited to less then a full charge.

Display =
Was very colorful and bright, 600 nits of brightness will make it useable outside. normal amount of backlight bleeding (almost none but there's always some). backlight bleed test was performed and two hot spots were identified one on bottom and other on right side. As mentioned previously the amount of light imo is quite minimal and i've seen far worse on other items. one of my apps displayed a completely white page and there was two hot spots (white slightly brigter then the rest of the page) this may be a fluke or not... i was able to duplicate the brighter pixel, its barely noticeable however is visable on default screen in other colors... not a deal breaker its about the size of a pin head with a slight glow around it, clarification you wouldnt know its there unless i told you to look for it.

WIFI Range =
two apps were used to test the wifi range speedtest (same test server) and wifi analyzer. I've only compared the two and not a laptop.. plus my house has about 800watts of electronic interference :)

Best reception i got was 5/9 stable 4/8.
UPDATE: Reports have been surfacing GPS isnt working or isnt working properly... When I performed the test it did find 4/8 and continued to have the searching graphic. Honestly I dont know what is normal for GPS reception with this device. Will compare against phone later.

Operation & bugs =
With any new device there will be patches and bug fixes, I dont assume any different with the prime.
while transferring pictures via usb , i was viewing the pictures and multiple times it froze and displayed
error resulting in restart of picture viewer. Another item was installation of a large gamesoft game dungeon
runners 2, I had music playing in the background and every 15 seconds or so the music would stutter for a second or two
and then continue playing. I'm sure this will be addressed with ICE and the use of 4/5 cores properly.

I'll update this review as time allows

I am struggling with adult-onset acne... the kind that attacks the chin & t-zone and creates small painful mountains on my face. I started taking this a few days ago and the 1st day I took it the nodule on my nose shrunk and was no longer painful - now day 3 it is almost gone and although a few newbie zits have popped up on my chin, the big old ones are shrinking and are no longer painful. I estimate that in the next week my acne should be gone. 2 - 3 tablets every 4 hours, I take them 3 times a day.

I've had terrible acne from being on the pill and wanted to try something new. Honestly, I didn't really expect this to work, but many reviews seemed positive, and I really like that it is homeopathic and isn't bad for your skin or your health! Well, the first few weeks, it seemed like it might be working, as I had no new breakouts (it didn't really affect the breakouts I was already in the midst of). But then I went on a trip and ran out and wasn't able to buy it at any local stores. That's when I realized how effective this stuff was: nothing else had really changed, and suddenly I was breaking out again. This is by no means a miracle, but it DEFINITELY makes a big difference in my skin, and it's totally natural and safe to use. It's a little bit pricey, but compared to acne meds like antibiotics or accutane, it's a great deal and soooo much better for you!!

I suffer with reoccurring acne and I've tried all sorts of pills, creams and supplements, all with very little or no luck. I started taking these 4 months and Ive notice a very stable, clear, consistent, difference in my skin; for the better that is. -along with these pills I use, both "Clean and Clear, Benyonzol peroxide face wash & Neutrogena 2.5 BP Acne Cream (2x a day, once in the AM and once in the PM), this makes up my regimen and it works quite well, i've spent 8 years trying to find a routine that is simple, cost effective and one that works. --This works for me and maybe, just maybe it will work for you too. --Getting back to these tablets, I take (3) every 3-4 hours and make sure not to miss a so-called dose. Doing all these things that I mentions, worked for me. I use to buy and wear a power foundation that would cover up blemishes, but because of these tables, I no longer use that power foundation. I am pleased with this item, it seems like it is just what I was looking for but I just got it and will test it some more, but from first glance it seems great, fits snugly, blocks no ports, speakers or cameras, and even has a slot for the stylus... So far pretty durable. Stylus holder not in an ideal location if you are using one. Wish it had more than one spot for micro sd card, also very hard to get in and out. Holds tab very secure and doesnt block any functionality. Good job.

I have not been this excited about a cell phone since waiting for the original iPhone one to come out. Yes, I am a early adapter.

I love the huge screen. Yes it is big and to some that is a draw back, but I use my phone a lot, but rarely to make phone calls. I am going to school and like to place my PDFs, books, Tabers medical dictionary and other school books on the phone. It really beats having to carry them around, or carrying a separate phone and tablet. I am a little older and my vision is not sharp as it used to be, but the screen is really clear and easy to see. The phone will fit in my dress shirt pocket and any pants or shorts front pockets that I wear.

As for the "wow!" factor. If you remember, I said that I was attending school. The younger students thought the phone was huge and the females thought it was to big for them to carry. But when they saw the PDF notes and the information for the classes I was able to keep on the phone, there still wasn't a "wow" factor or even an "I am impressed" moment, but maybe they understood a bit more. But I did not buy the phone to impress a bunch of young 20 something ladies. So, minus one star for the pretty ladies being unimpressed. LOL

I use the phone a lot for the GPS function. The GPS is very fast to pick up the satellites and find my position. Since the screen is so large, I can easily see where I am going. The screen has wonderful sharpness and contrast. I will not comment of the color quality since I cannot see colors.

Processor speed: I did a bench mark test on the CPU, and CPU coupled with the GPU is fast. Bench marks do not mean to much because they are just numbers, but the dual core processor is pretty quick once in the application and out of the touch whiz interface.

The Samsung interface is a real let down, especially with the included bloatware provided by our friends at ATT. If you are willing to root your phone, you will pick up speed in the main screens and apps screens. I had mine for less than an hour and rooted the phone. I have also modded the lock screen, it is not hard to do. With that mod I can get to my text messages, camera, main menu or adjust the ringer settings with a swipe of the finger instead of having to get to the home screen and then choose what I want to do. But regardless of rather you root your phone; from time you press on the app from the time it launches is fast. My last phone was the infuse, which is very slow and the GPS is even painfully slower.

Stylus: I have played with the stylus a bit and I really cannot see a real use for it except maybe jotting down a short note. I am not going to use the stylus to scroll through screens and pick apps to launch. I makes a nice easy way to write "I love you" to your wife during church. Other than that it is not very useful to me.

Battery: The battery is more difficult to get to then the other phone that I have owned, save the iPhone. Plus, getting the battery cover back on is even harder. I have been playing with my new phone like a child would play with a new toy, so the battery does not seem to last long, but longer than the Infuse or the Skyrocket II. I really wish Samsung would have used the extra real estate, due to the [hones size, to put a little beefier battery.

Conclusion: I really do like the phone. More icons per screen and larger items are easier to see. I spend a lot of time on my phone with internet, apps and texting so ease of use is a huge bonus. I no longer need to carry around a separate tablet or laptop, I have all the information in one place. With the few customizations that I have done, the phone is fast and user friendly. The phone is wide and the need for big hands is a must. The stylus for me is a big looser.

Update:

After have the phone now for almost A week, i had some extra thoughts about the phone:

The stylus is about worthless, I used it once to make a short grocery list and that is it. But i really do like the phone. I also purchased the car dock for the phone and "Waze" GPS application (free) from the android market place and the GPS is really neat and easy to use. I can also put some of my school books on the phone too. Ice Cream Sandwich is supposed to be released in March. I will post another update then.

It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This, February 25, 2012

I pre-ordered this device through AT&T on February 5, 2012 and have been waiting for it to come out since it's release in Asia.

***Screen***
This is obviously the highlight of the device. You can't see any pixels to the naked eye and contrary to many of the reviews, none of the colors appear "burned in" or over-saturated. From my bed to my dresser, I have been able to prop up my phone and watch Netflix relatively easily.

The brightest setting on it is tremendously bright, almost to an uncomfortable degree, but this makes outside viewing very easy. As with any Android device, I am not a fan of the "auto-brightness" battery saving feature since it can be erratic in situations where the light is constantly changing (such as in the shade of a tree on a breezy day... sounds romantic, right?). By contrast, the dimmest setting is incredibly low which is a big feature to me. Sometimes if I am checking my phone late at night, I hate being blinded by a phone set to it's dimmest setting and still being bright enough to see in a well-lit room.

No complaints.

***Handling/Feel***
Holding the device with one hand isn't a problem for unlocking and scrolling between screens which is much of what I do throughout the day (checking for updates on my home screen widgets or for e-mails. I have "average" sized hands (about 7" long) and I can "just barely" manage opening apps and typing with one hand, but I don't feel comfortable enough to do this while standing or over a hard surface. Fortunately there is a significant number of "swype" styled apps to make "one finger" typing just as fast and easy.

I've never used "split keyboards", but every review I see says it's a "must".

The white Galaxy Note has the glossy, smooth backing on it but isn't so slick that it falls out of your hand. It's extremely attractive and is actually keeping me from slapping a cover on it... why would I want to cover up something that sexy. Making phone calls feels perfectly nature and doesn't seem awkward at all. This is one of a few unfounded criticisms I have seen about this device. If anything the larger profile of the phone actually makes it much EASIER to hold to your face.

***Stylus***
Cool gadget that is useless is 90% of what you do, but if you experiment with it there will be things you do, apps you operate, and games you play that you can't believe you every used without it. I actually like the stylus less as a writing device (which is how it's being marketed), and more as a "precision tool". A good example is a tower defense game. Having the larger screen allows me to play it in "zoomed out mode" the entire time and just use my stylus to select different items and perform functions that would otherwise be too small on such a high-resolution screen in the mode I'm using. That's a very specific example, but it let's you know what kind of utility the stylus has.

A criticism I've seen of the stylus (even before the phone came out) is that it's moving technology bad to the days of the old Palm Pilots. This is a load of biased crap that I can only explain as individuals with agendas trying to make fun of something they haven't used. I would urge readers to think of the stylus less as a "out-dated Palm Pilot" device and more as a "Nintendo DS" device. If you don't like the stylus; don't use it. It's an amazing device without it. By stepping outside of the box and experimenting with the stylus you're liable to find something you like about it.

***Battery Life***
With average use, I unplug my device at around 7AM every morning and still have a charge on my device into 9PM and 10PM at night. That "average" day includes leaving Bluetooth off all day (I don't use it), and turning WiFi off when I'm not in range of my home network. I sync my e-mail and weather every 30 minutes and social networking every 15 minutes. If the battery life isn't good enough, Mugen Power manufacturers a battery with 80% more capacity than the standard Samsung provided battery.

***Appearance***
Everyone has the same reaction to the device. "Holy crap, that's a big phone......... wait, where can I get one?" The initial shock freaks everyone out, but I haven't had anyone look at it skeptically and when I've had it to my ear, I didn't notice anyone staring at me (I paid attention to this the first few days I owned it). In my humble opinion, people think the white one looks a lot more attractive than people who have seen the "carbon blue" (whatever.... it's black) model.

CONCLUSION: Great phone. I am going to give this 5 stars, but not because I'm a 'fanboi' or just opened it 10 minutes ago and wanted to brag about my new toy. That line I read could have come from me. But it did not and I give credit to a post I read on a forum that said that succinctly.

Let me just say this right upfront :
It is NOT the best of a tablet and the best of a phone. It is the best CONVERGENCE implementation of a tablet and phone.

I'm going to be covering several aspects : Pocketability, Performance, Display, Stability, Camera, S Pen

If you're reading this review or any other reviews about this device, chances are you're seriously considering the device. You WANT a big screen. So is it big ? Is it huge ? Is it a phone ? Is it a tablet ? My God, somebody shouted "phablet" !!!! Grab your children and run.

There is no simple answer to to this. You'll hear critics saying it's too big to be a phone and too small to be a tablet. They'll even point to their Exhibit A evidence : Look, this is what the official Galaxy Note ad claims. So why do they advertise it as such. Because there is no other device like it on the market that does the things it does and would get scored at the same level. But we must score devices in the same category. You cannot rate a sedan, race car and hybrid at the same level. They all perform a common primary function : Transport. This is a new pseudo-category of device. I say pseudo because there is no law that says what a tablet size should be. Unless it was written on Moses's tablet. You could say it's the large SUV of the cell phones. They offer you a very good mix of 2 critical functions : transport and cabin space. The more cabin space you have, the better it is. You will still be able to park it in a parking spot. In terms of size alone, It won't be as easy to park as a Camry (Galaxy Nexus), a Corolla (Skyrocket, Lumia 900 and other good phones with a nice size) or a Minicooper (iPhone). But the mini cooper sure looks cute. Dinky and cute.

We've covered pocketability. But to be more explicit, it will fit in your trouser pockets easily. It will not bulge because the phone is beautifully slim. You can fit it in DRESS shirt pockets that are even of M/L sizes and have the phone completely fit inside it. That's not a typo. It will jut out of T shirt pockets for sure though. So yes it is big in that sense. If you're a woman, forget about putting it inside your smaller pockets. If you shop in the "Boys department", then it might not fit. It will fit in skinny jeans. Here however, YMMV. You need to test it yourself.

Phones like iPhones are not the perfect size FOR ALL. They are simply built for the lowest denominator. Even a child can hold it. That makes it easy for the mfgr to keep things simple for them and costs down. They benefit. You lose. If you were to like a larger device. You may think you do not like a larger device and you wonder why others do. Then you should watch the Malcolm Gladwell TED talks show on spaghetti sauce. It will make you understand this once and for all.

Performance :
---------------
The AT&T version features a slower CPU than the international version. It was done because the Exynos chip does not support LTE. So the Snapdragon processor was used instead. On paper, it has a higher clock speed than the Exynos. However, the clock speed is not the ultimate decider and it IS slower than the lower clocked Exynos. But what does that mean to a user. Probably not much as some might make it out to be. Especially once ICS (Android 4) comes out that will support hardware acceleration. As it stands, you might see some lag when you move between HOME SCREENS that have widgets. If you go to the app drawer mode (which is like the boring grid of icons in the iPhone), it is flawless and has zero-lag.

Display:
------------
At first, when reports came out that the display was an AMOLED Pentile display and not AMOLED Plus (true RGB), there was a lot of scepticism. Well now that has been laid to rest. The screen is simply gorgeous. Colors are vivid and saturated. You can even control the saturation (in the International models). They may have already done this with the AT&T version. Or there might be an app that controls this. I've not checked. If you're a purist, then AMOLED does tend to have slightly saturated colors. It won't look bad; on the contrary, it will look stunning to the avg user. But technically, it's not the most accurate. This difference however is marginal. AMOLED panels also have another drawback. In bright light, they deteriorate more. You can always use the "Auto brightness" adjustment feature to compensate. This will consume more battery power. I've used this product for years and found it works well when taken with a glass of water. HOWEVER, each tablet is 650 mg. 10 gr means 10 grains (a unit used more commonly in the UK). A 10 gram pill would be too big for normal humans to swallow.

If you have trouble with indigestion or any minor stomach ailment go ahead and try this. It sounded expensive initially, but the bottle is HUGE! It is 10 grains not grams per pill. I have no problem swallowing them as they look exactly like aspirin.
I have used baking soda for years as my "go to" for stomach ailments, but this is much better than messing with all of that. Neat and quick, and you will get that "burp" of relief Arm & Hammer used to brag about on the side of their box.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. Ordered on 12/15, delivered on 12/21.

Our intentions for the unit is to have something portable to store family pictures and videos. The wife also wanted something to hold and play music while at work when connected to speakers. She wants something to occasionally surf the web and check email too. This thing fits all our requirements.

The item is good out of the box! This play mpeg4 files straight from our high def camcorder without the need of any conversion. It runs Angry Birds but the wife won't play it at all. It has a bigger screen than the 7" Cruz Reader she gave me which made her happier. I also bought a tablet holder and with nice speakers on each side it looks great! My wife is having fun with it!

I don't understand what the others are complaining about. Don't expect it to be what it's not. If you want something more, get an ipad or a laptop.

I've read a bunch of very negative reviews on this and other Coby tablets. These tablets are actually very good for the money! The problem that most reviewers are having has to do with the Gingerbread OS, or Android 2.3. This OS doesn't run the most current programs like Netflix. If you want Netflix, you need to find and download the 1.2.1 version of that program. There is an easy way to get Android Market (see Youtube for it) and Netflix and even Flash on this but one must do some web surfing to find out HOW. There are also some great Android Tablet forums out there with people who do all kinds of great things with the Coby Tablets.

I have 4 Coby Tablets that we got for Christmas, and all of them are running Gingerbread. All have Netflix, Flash and the full Android Market and Amazon Apps Market on them. All the apps we have play perfectly well, even Angry Birds (which does not need flash) You DO get what you pay for. And for the 0 that this tablet costs, you can make it do just about everything that the tablets with Honeycomb (Android 3.2) on them. I watched two movies on Netflix this morning on my 1126.

One must also understand that not all apps that work on your phone will work on the tablet. Some are just not written for tablet. I have several on my phone that will not work on my tablet because of the coding.

Also, one must do some research on the different types of touchscreens. Some are Resistive (use a stylus or fingernail for these, perfect if you have fake nails) and some are Capacitive (the smooth screen and easy swipe type). You have to understand how these work before you decide which touchscreen you get. Resistive is older technology and less expensive, but works great for some (I have fake nails). For others they can only deal with the type of touchscreen as they have on their phone. If this is you, get a Capacitive (Coby Kyros 1125, 1126, 7022, 7127, 8127) as they have the smooth swipe screen.

So, please don't discount the Coby line (especially since they are going to come out with a set of tablets that will have the very newest Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich very soon) just because they don't spend the extra money to advertise all over the media. This is a well built, user-friendly, happy line of tablets, and they have something that will fit everyone! Just do some research to get the most out of it. And, no, I'm not a Coby rep, LOL!

I bought this talet as a learning tool for my 15 month old (and for future use for my 3 month old). I couldn't justify spending 0 on an iPad when there are thousands of free android apps that would be appropriate for toddlers. So I was excited to buy this for 0 on Cyber Monday! It came by Saturday.

This is a nifty little gadget. My son already loves it- there are tons of apps on amazon that will teach letters, numbers, colors, animals, etc. We also love the musical ones like the mini piano and finger drums. I spent a great deal of time searching through the free apps and found 120 of them that seemed worth trying out.

Here's the part I hate about this tablet: it takes FOREVER to get it all set up. Here's what I had to all do:
-set up email account through the device (HINT- if you enter it a million times and it says username/password incorrect, you probably have to change your email settings to enable IMAP)
-go to amazon, choose apps.
-download amazon AppStore
-download each app one at a time. This takes a while.
-install each app once they're downloaded. This also takes a while.
-the internal memory will fill up quickly. So I put in a micro SD card. I then transferred the apps to the card (one at a time).
-continue downloading/installing apps now that there was more memory available.
-eventually the SD card was full. So then I went through the apps that were installed. Mayn didn't work, so I deleted those. Then I was able to download more (and transfer, and check to see if they worked...)

So in general, the PROS would be:
-it's fun, lots of apps to check out
-pretty inexpensive

CONS:
-It is super slow. Probably takes about 1-2 minutes to start up (like a computer; I know iPads are pretty instantaneous).
-It's annoying to have to download everything item by item.
-The information guide is a joke. It just tells what the buttons are (in 3 different languages).

It fulfilled my need as an educational tool for kids, but if you're looking for something hardcore (or if you don't have a weekend to waste setting it up), you might want to keep looking.

***UPDATE*** I'm returning this, and changing my rating to 2 stars. I thought I was willing to deal with its slow speed, but half the apps don't work, it keeps exiting apps on me, and there's hardly any memory space on it, even with a memory card. I think I'll get a kindle fire instead. This tablet is just poorly made, and isn't worth what they're charging for it.

My general experience with this device was good. It has a beautiful design, simple and useful.

Pros
- Very easy to use.
- Excellent and modern design.
- Good sound quality.
- Excellent keyboard until... (see my comment below "After a Year")
- Good Touch screen.
- Other applications included like: GPS (using wi-fi), compass, etc.
- It has a slot for inserting a celular phone SIM card, however it is not ready to be used. I thing this will be available in the future.
- Good colors and screen resolution acceptable.
- You can use the computer with the keyboard and the touch screen at the same time. Awesome.
- Good webcam included.
- This is the few net computers with Windows 7 home edition.
- Silent and quite.

Cons
- Few information of this computer in the DELL site. I hope to have more information from DELL.
- Acceptable performance. Nothing too fast, nothing too slow.
- When used for long periods tends to generates a bit of heat.
- It does not have a flashlight on the keyboard to work at night.
- It has a lot of useless DELL software installed, most of them "LITE" versions constantly requiring purchase of the full "PRO" versions.
- USB port cover is not practical to use when the computer is on a flat surface.

Other comments:
- I like Google Chrome, however for this software the Touch capabilities are not good. I'm using IE 9, it uses the touch screen capabilities in a good way.
- I was very dissapointed when I received the computer in a box where you can see in a picture the computer inserted in a Dell station, however when you open the box, you only find your computer alone. The Dell station is sold separately.
- Have not a cover included. I bought a Belkin cover.
- Strange behavior when the computer enters in Stand by alone. After this, you can listen some "beeps" and you need to try starting up the computer with a forced start up.

After a year
- Problem issue with the keyboard. With a few utilization in general terms of the computer, after one year the keyboard presents problems with the following keys:
2, W, Backspace, \, Enter, PgDn, PgUp and Space. I run the Support Center Software and it indicates that everything is ok, however, the problem persists. You know, the computer is out of the original warranty.
- All the other computer parts are good.

I recently bought this computer, I had it for two days and decided to return it. tooooo slooow. I love the idea behind it, but dell needs to do more work on it before it could charge up to 0 for this computer. I did everything I could to speed it up, but there just isn't enough ram. HP also has a similar touch laptop, but is more expensive, but has more ram, I wonder if that will have better results. I would have loved to keep it, I really do think it's going to be the next norm in computers, but it's just too soon maybe.

At first I was disappointed in this computer because it was purchased for me and I was told I was getting a laptop. To me a laptop is something with a bigger screen and keyboard. Also to me a laptop means that it has a CD-ROM drive. However, once we set up the house for WIFI and I downloaded flash and figured out how to use Word on it, it has become a good little computer. In fact, I'm typing this on it right now. I get a lot of use out of the flip screen when I play solitare or any of the touch games included in the computer. Even without a CD-ROM and and DVD player and the small size, it's a good little computer.
