This week we start to delve into the fun stuff a little more with intro to Periodization. Periodization, while tough to type repeatedly, is a fairly straight forward concept. We set up some vocabulary and some basic concepts so that we can come back in the next few Fridays and really get into how and why to design your cycle plan. 
This is one of the biggest concepts in programming training for powerlifting and for athletes. We will look at why some sports like strongman and Crossfit could stand to incorporate more of this.

This week we start to delve into the fun stuff a little more with intro to Periodization. Periodization, while tough to type repeatedly, is a fairly straight forward concept. We set up some vocabulary and some basic concepts so that we can come back in the next few Fridays and really get into how and why to design your cycle plan. 
This is one of the biggest concepts in programming training for powerlifting and for athletes. We will look at why some sports like strongman and Crossfit could stand to incorporate more of this.

We don't delve too deep into lever physics, but focus on how it applies in the body to move the musculoskeletal system, and how small changes in individual anatomy can have affects. 
This is by no means comprehensive, but an intro to the concepts of biomechanics. If you are taking a Crossfit certification, strength and conditioning course, or are looking to become a personal trainer this info may help you pass your exams. 
Be sure to review previous episodes in this series for information on muscle structure and basics on the neuromuscular system. In the future we will get further in depth into the mechanism that is the human body so that we can get to the fun stuff.

We touch on some of our usual topics: Highland Games and Training, Grip Strength, Powerlifting, and Strongman. We also had to bring up the remarkable accomplishment of Russian lifter Andrey Malanichev, who this past weekend recaptured the Squat world record with a 1047 lb lift. He also broke the 2500lb total mark as a raw lifter.

This fist episode covers the basic info on muscular structure and how those structures create a muscle contraction. In future episodes we  will review and refine on topics to make them understandable and absorbable. 

Hopefully this is useful and enjoyable. We are keeping em kinda short so we don't overload on info.

He sits down this week to give us some of the highlights and nitty gritties of pulling off the trip. Leaving his job. Selling all his stuff and taking off. We also talk about how cheap and easy it is with modern tech to reach an audience with consumer created content. In a humorous turn of fate we encounter our own technical hiccups including Tim's mic not being turned on. After switching computers I forgot to reset the default audio driver setting to two channel so the preamp can pass two mics. Woodsy. After 90 mins of editing you can hear Tim but sorry the levels jump around.
