Journal of French Language Studies, Volume 25 Special Issue 02

Journal of French Language Studies , sponsored by the Association for French Language Studies, encourages and promotes theoretical, descriptive and applied studies of all aspects of the French language. The journal brings together research from the English- and French-speaking traditions, publishing significant work on French phonology, morphology, syntax, lexis and semantics, sociolinguistics and variation studies. Most work is synchronic in orientation, but historical and comparative items are also included. Studies of the acquisition of the French language, where these take due account of current theory in linguistics and applied linguistics, are also published. Issues include survey articles reviewing the state of the art in a major field, as well as squibs on modern usage in French and a major book review section. As from 2004, one issue in three will be thematic and devoted to broad topics such as the acquisition of French, discourse or corpus-based descriptions of the French language.

Phonology , published three times a year, is the only journal devoted to all aspects of the discipline, and provides a unique forum for the productive interchange of ideas among phonologists and those working in related disciplines. Preference is given to papers which make a substantial theoretical contribution, irrespective of the particular theoretical framework employed, but the submission of papers presenting new empirical data of general theoretical interest is also encouraged. The journal carries research articles, as well as book reviews and shorter pieces on topics of current controversy within phonology.

ReCALL is the journal of the European Association for Computer Assisted Language Learning (EUROCALL). It seeks to fulfil the stated aims of EUROCALL as a whole, and more particularly to promote the use of foreign languages within Europe and beyond, providing an international focus for the promulgation of innovative research in the area of computer-assisted language learning and technology-enhanced language learning in education and training.Typical subjects for submissions include theoretical debate on second language acquisition and development in technology-rich learning environments and their influence on design; practical applications at developmental stage; evaluative studies of the use of technology in the teaching and learning process; assessment of the potential of technological advances in the delivery of language learning materials and enactment of language learning activities; exploitation of on-line information systems; and discussions of policy and strategy at institutional and discipline levels. Survey papers are welcome provided that they are timely, up-to-date and well-structured.

English Language and Linguistics , published three times a year, is an international journal which focuses on the description of the English language within the framework of contemporary linguistics. The journal is concerned equally with the synchronic and the diachronic aspects of English language studies and publishes articles of the highest quality which make a substantial contribution to our understanding of the structure and development of the English language and which are informed by a knowledge and appreciation of linguistic theory. English Language and Linguistics carries articles and short discussion papers or squibs on all core aspects of English, from its beginnings to the present day, including syntax, morphology, phonology, semantics, pragmatics, corpus linguistics and lexis. There is also a major review section including, from time to time, articles that give an overview of current research in particular specialist areas. Occasional issues are devoted to a special topic, when a guest editor is invited to commission articles from leading specialists in the field.

Bilingualism : Language and Cognitionis an international peer-reviewed journal focusing on bilingualism from a linguistic, psycholinguistic, and neuroscientific perspective. The aims of the journal are to promote research on the bilingual and multilingual person and to encourage debate in the field. Areas covered include: bilingual language competence, bilingual language processing, bilingual language acquisition in children and adults, bimodal bilingualism, neurolinguistics of bilingualism in normal and brain-damaged individuals, computational modelling of bilingual language competence and performance, and the study of cognitive functions in bilinguals. BLC carries articles and research notes on all aspects of the bilingual person, including articles presenting research methods and research tools pertinent to the field of bilingualism.
