Embroidery Journal 2025 Finally Finished

Hello,

I finally finished my 2025 embroidery journal. It feels so good to finally complete this personal projects. I can't wait to start for the 2026 journal.

I have to admit, I don’t embroider every single day. Some days I simply sketch the idea directly onto the cloth, and other times I jot it down on my iPhone or iPad. Keeping those little notes helps so much—when I finally sit down to stitch, I can look back at them and draw the design with clarity.

Some months feel wonderfully chaotic—especially when I’m traveling and wishing I could stitch every little moment into my embroidery, even though the space never seems quite enough. Other months are quieter, filled with everyday rhythms like house chores and sewing. But no matter the pace, there’s always something small and meaningful worth capturing.

When I first started, I hadn’t done embroidery in ages, so everything felt a little rusty. But stitch by stitch, it slowly came back to me. I’ve noticed my mood shows up in the work too—some months look a bit rough around the edges, while others turn out surprisingly refined, as if I had extra patience to spare. Among them all, the Durian (July) and the Avocado (August) are the ones I’m especially proud of.

I bough the book 365 Days of Stitches by Steph Arnold from Amazon India. It has a lot of pattern that you can refer to. I also use free icon from Flaticon. And sometimes also from my iPhone emoji!

Mini Backpack

Hello friends,

I wanted to share a quick personal update about my pattern shop. Because of some unexpected compliance issues with the Indian central bank (RBI), I wasn’t able to renew my old webshop on Ecwid —even after several back‑and‑forth conversations with their support team. This caught me by surprise too.

As a result, I’ve decided to move my shop to a new webshop powered by GoDaddy. It’s a platform I’ve trusted for years to host my main site, and it offers secure payments and SSL protection, so your data stays safe. Since GoDaddy is one of the world’s largest and most reliable domain providers, this transition feels like the right step forward.

This moving is also an answer to year long wish to simplify my small business. As much as I love Ecwid's simplicity and user friendly features, I think it's time for me to move on. In the new webshop, even though it's simple, it works out well for me. Less fancy app but more reliable.

I will only list my patterns in the new webshop for now and for Handmade, Quilts and Fabrics will be available only on my ETSY SHOP.

Since this transition happened quite suddenly, I truly appreciate your patience and understanding if a few small bumps pop up along the way. I’m currently working on adding all the patterns—both paid and free—to the new webshop, and everything will be fully in place soon.

Delhi Trip 2025 - Aerocity Hotel and Airport Photos

In the Pride Plaza Hotel Lobby

Two weeks ago we went to Delhi to see off the sons. They are going back to their Uni and since the elder one has spent a year in Singapore, he has a LOT of stuff to take back to UK. Luckily the younger one is a minimalist guy, he didn't have many things to pack! After 1 weeks of packing and repacking, finally 4 suitcases are filled!

We decided to stay in Pride Plaza Hotel in Aerocity, New Delhi. The hotels at Aerocity are only 5 mins away by car to the Airport. Although the hotel price is at the higher end - starts from around INR 10K (USD 112 before tax) if you get a good discount. But it's convenient for us to go to the airport. There are also lot's of restaurants and some Indie shops selling all sort of stuff nearby.

We took afternoon flight so that we will have time in the evening to visit hubby's aunt in Gurgaon. It's a little bit far but via the Dwarka underpass toll road from Aerocity to Gurgaon, it was quite fast. Of course the uber driver drove like he was in Paris Dakkar rally!

The dinner went off well, we were all well fed with delicious home food and pudding! It was nice to see DH's aunt and cousins after a long time. So much to talk about but we had to head back to the hotel.

Next day was just relaxing, having good breakfast at the hotel. My MIL (she's 82), always enjoyed hotel buffet! It feels so good to see her eating heartily and excitedly shopping at the Woolmark Mall in Aerocity. She was hesitant to come with us but wanted to come to see off the grandsons too. We assured her that she will be able to go. It was a nice short break for her. Meanwhile, the elder son spent the night at his friend's place and busy meeting his Uni friends who already graduated this year. The younger one is also meeting his high school friends who are now studying in Delhi.

After early dinner, we went to see off the boys from IGI Delhi Terminal 3 and went back to the hotel for late night sandwich club, because I cannot go to bed hungry!

Like other good parent, we tracked the flight!

For the hotel, the room size is okay, enough space for 2 luggage and the amenities are also sufficiently provided. It's has a vibe of oldish hotel with fully carpeted room. I did not take photo of the room, somehow. There is an arm chair at the corner near the window with small table and then there is a medium round table with office chair on the other corner, which make the room quite crowded. But the office chair is quite useful as my MIL can use it when she reads her prayers. There is one big TV screen (not smart TV, I think it's cable TV), but we don't use it as everyone prefer to watch YouTube on their phone.

Last year when we went to see off the younger son, we stayed at Roseate House Hotel (we got it on a really good bargain on Make My Trip). It was a really great experience. Maybe when I have time, I'll write a blog about it!

Handmade Wallets for Men

My FB friend sent me a message that she wanted 2 handmade wallets for her husband and son. After discussing fabric option, we agreed on the herringbone tweed and black jute fabrics. The wallet should be minimalist with only 4 card slots and one is without flap.

Working with tweed and jute is pretty tricky. I used all purpose interfacing for both wallets which turned out better than I expected. The fabrics are also fray a lot, so I usually cut it bigger than the actual intended size just to be on the safe side.

For the measurement and construction, I basically follow the Nuno Wallet Pattern, I reduced the size a little bit since it's only 2 card slots on each side.

After receiving her wallet, she messaged me on Whatsapp again and wanted 2 more of the same wallets but with divider for the bill compartment. Sometimes, the best ideas are from your customers!!

With the second order she also wanted the mini backpacks! She wanted in pink floral and after she chose her fabrics, I got to work immediately as I have to finish the order before Monday as Tuesday I was leaving for Delhi to see off my boys!

The viola mini backpack is very easy and quick to make. And I love making these cute little backpacks!! I carried one myself to keep my air buds and chap stick, very practical and cute accessories for everyday.

Family Passport Wallet

I recently received a message from a longtime customer who purchased a family passport wallet from me eight years ago. She’s still using it today — and now she’s ordering two more for her children. Moments like this mean the world to me. They’re a quiet but profound affirmation of my dedication to slow-made craftsmanship in a world driven by fast fashion.

This time, she wanted Ohana Passport Wallet with 4 passport slots. After choosing the fabrics, I made 2 same wallets with different combo, red and black. I really love how these wallet turned out, I hope she will love them too.

If you already have the Ohana Wallet pattern and want to make 4 slots version, simply omit the middle card slot instruction from the original pattern and reduce the height by 1 inch.

I also made this Safari Travel Wallet still in the same theme. I got a few Disney fabrics when I travel to Japan few years ago. Now it's time to start using them. If you're a fabric hoarder like me, sometimes there are fabrics that you don't have the heart to use!! But this year, I am changing (or rather trying to change) my POV.

The Safari wallet has 2 passport slots, 6 card slots, zipper pocket and 2 slip pockets. This wallet is my personal favorite when I travel solo. It has pockets to fit in all my travel documents, cards and cash. My boys also use this Safari wallet to keep their travel documents as students organized.

I made a dress!

After ages I made a dress for myself again! I keep buying clothes patterns on Etsy but always hesitate to start. I used to sew my own dresses back when I was in college and then again after I got married, I tried a couple of times making dress for myself and for my sons. Afterwards, I just stopped and recently I've been itching to start making again.

The fabric is block print cotton from my ETSY Shop.

The pattern is from Aura Patterns on Etsy . I make size XL which turned out very airy. Maybe I will make L size next time.

With my rustic dress making skill, I'm happy with how it turned out! Here's my review about this dress pattern:

1. The photo on the pattern and the actual pattern is different. The actual pattern is for a drop sleeve dress. Which I love!

2. Another adjustment I made is the neck line. I found the neck line is too wide to my liking. The bodice pattern is completely different then what's shown in the pattern photo!

3. The pattern is easy to understand but there's no actual photos. There are only very simple diagram. Some instruction, like attaching the pocket, I find it's lacking. If you follow the instruction, you will end up with puckered pockets. Luckily there are many tutorials on Youtube like THIS ONE that I can refer to.

4. The sleeve turned out good and the length is just perfect. I love the airy sleeves especially in this hot and humid weather.

I wish the pattern had more detail photos or diagrams in the instructions. This pattern is good for someone who already know how to at least read a pattern and make adjustment if necessary. If you're a newbie, I'd suggest to look at others who provide video tutorials. This particular pattern shop, don't have any social media presence or video tutorials.

I'm happy with my first trial of the pattern and want to make another one but with a few adjustment, like the bodice length and also the pocket depth. I've been watching and learning from a lot of YouTube Videos. Let's see.

Finished 2 Table Runners

Hello,

It's already the end of August and my boys are getting ready to go back to college. Summer breaks came and went pretty fast. In between, me and my younger son, we went to Indonesia to visit my family. It was rather unplanned trip, as we saw the Malaysian Airline ticket was pretty reasonable, we quickly book the tickets just a few days before we left. Alhamdulillah, I can meet my mom, my sisters and their family in Indonesia even though it was a short visit. I met a few friends from my working days in Jakarta and few college friends too. It's always nice to be able to meet and catch up with family and friends personally, even though we keep interacting via Whatsapp or social media.

And of course I went fabric shopping in Malang and Jakarta! Luckily our tickets includes 25 kg baggage allowance, so I can pick up few fabrics!

After I came back home, I can't help feeling "guilty" for buying so many new fabrics! So the next best thing I do is taking out one charm pack from my stash and make them into table runner!. I always think of making more table runners for my small quilt shop in Etsy. I barely get any time to refresh the shop hence the sale does not happen every month! But I love making small quilts and put them in the shop. Many I ended up gifting them to my family and friends :).

I also finished the block print table runner! The plan was to start quilting a few UFO that I already basting, but I always end up doing something else.

This time, I am happy with the result. I quilted them in my Husqvarna Viking machine using my fave serendipity stitch lines!

This modern table runner size is 14" x 39" which is prefect for kitchen table or even long coffee table.

I used cotton batting for both runners and it turned out very soft, especially the block print one. The skinny block print table runner is finished at 9” W x 37” L (23 x 94 cm). It's great for those narrow side tables or foyer tables.

New Fabrics

In the past few weeks I've been busy with updating the website and my Etsy Shops. After the Etsy glitch which resulted hundred of my listings were made expired, I decided to take this as a chance to refresh my listing photos and optimize the listings.

It's not an easy task especially since I am working solo, but I am happy to be busy!

I group similar fabrics together in one listing, which previously I listed individually, to save some listing fees. Etsy sellers in India have to pay quite a lot of fees, beside the listing fee. And on top of that the conversion fees too.

I Made Boxy Pouches Again

Quirky Keychain Mini Boxy Bags

It's already mid of May. How time flies! Since my last post, I've been busy with a couple of things! The most recent ones, I am having fun making quilted boxy pouches. It's been ages since I make one!

There are so many ways to make boxy pouches or bags! One of them is like in this video.

Mini Keychain Bags

I made 3 sets so far and all of them are available in my Etsy shops. While making the bigger boxy bags are easier, but I enjoyed making the small ones more, the smaller ones bring a delightful sense of accomplishment!

These boxy bags are very handy. The spacious size is literally great for any storage like make up, crochet or knitting projects, to gym bag. I gifted my sister one a few years ago and she used it to keep spare clothes whenever she went out of town on work.

And now sneak peek to my personal project! The embroidery journal. I am finishing April right now but here's what January and February look like. My plan is to work on it in the evening before bed time and during weekends, but that's not always happening. So now, the progress is a bit slow! I keep adding icons and when I get time and mood I will sit and embroider.

Last month I went to Singapore again to help the son with the move. He's completed his international study exchange program in SMU Singapore. During video call, it looked like we could easily fit them into just two suitcases, but it turned out we had to fill in 2 big suitcases, 2 small ones plus backpacks! With the new travel restriction regarding hand luggage or carry on, somehow we manage to "not be caught" carrying more that the allowed weight on Singapore-Kolkata flight, but while boarding from Kolkata, his carry-on was taken to be checked in. But without additional charges! I guess now I have to learn to travel light!

It was a short trip, but I managed to go to SMH for a few minutes and bought very few fabrics! The rest of the trip was just packing and having fancy lunch and coffee and strolling around Bugis street. This time, my legs and back did not give trouble. I guess, the protein diet and weight exercise that I've been doing helps and of course the glucosamine! Welcome to menopause life!!

So more or less that what has been going on in my life. Another thing, I try to start journaling on my iPad. I realized my hand writing is so bad! We are so used to tapping on phone/iPad or typing on keyboards. I mean I always send hand written note to my buyers, but it's a short note. When I have to write longer, it's getting worse and worse haha. So now I really enjoyed writing on my iPad Notes. Nothing aesthetic right now, just simple one writing my fave quotes, or song I listened to, or how I feel and stuff. By the way those aesthetic notes like on YT takes a long time to set up. With digital journal, I can easily copy paste photos or quotes or song. So it's been fun so far!

DIY Labels and a lot of quilted bags

Hello,

Guess what? I finally made DIY fabric labels! Yes, using my the new printer and the iron on heat transfer paper. The paper is actually vinyl. So once you have your design in place, all you have to do is print it on your Inkjet printer, peel off the vinyl and iron it on to the fabric! It's such a quick process. The paper is available for laser printer also, but the result is not as good as inkjet. What's more, you can even draw on the vinyl - maybe using fabric pens. It's fun project. I bought the paper from Amazon (not affiliated link).

I put a short tutorial on my YOUTUBE channel.

On the video I iron the labels onto fabrics. I also iron it directly on the wallets for personalization, like in this post.

I love how I can customized the labels according to my liking ~~(mood).~~ And of course I have to start using the labels! I have many prepped pouches in my WIP bins, so that would be great projects to utilize the labels. It's fun because I can use the color that match the fabrics. Maybe next time I will make labels with colored background!

Quilted Coin Purses

For the small makeup bags and pencil pouches, I made folded labels. It's 1" x 2" labels but it was a little too big. Next time, I will make 1" x 1.5". I wanted folded labels for a long time but could not find vendors who can do for a small quantity. I guess, good things come to those who wait is true!!

And, my happy mail this week is this book! I decided ( a little late) to join the embroidery journal bandwagon on my Sewing Circle whatsapp group. I am so bad at drawing icons and whatever I drew looked so weird! This book is a gem. It has so many designs! I will share my progress next time, for now let me catchup on the embroidery! I try to work on the embroidery before I am going to bed at night unless I have orders to finish.

Kalamkari Passport Holder

Last month, Etsy sent email stated there was a bug on Etsy that they belatedly found and as a result a lot of my listings were not charged for renewal for the past year. So by April 1st, Etsy deactivated all the affected listings, and I did not realize it until a few days ago when I saw my shop were practically empty! This both affected my fabric shop and my handmade shop! Now I have more than 200 listings to relist and as I am on it, I will rework on the SEO, etc before put them back on the listing. I think it's a blessing in disguise also, as I have been wanted to work on the SEO on some of my listings. But yeah it's a lot of work - I will do it one step at a time!

Anyway, I have been busy making a few passport wallets last week. This time I am using block print fabrics! They have been on my WIP bins for a couple of months and finally I got time (and the mood) to finish them!

I am super happy with how these kalamkari passport wallet turned out. I have made only the rustic indigo color in the past and as I got order for the same, I might as well finish the rest!

For the kalamkari wallets, I offered 2 closure - zip around or snap button in my ETSY SHOP.

The next are these red and blue-ish grey floral passport holder. I really love these floral fabrics and I love how the wallets turned out. They are so unique and light weight, you can keep upto 4 passports in it.

I still have the fabric, maybe I will make something else. Let's see!

So that was quite productive week for me. Batching work really works for me, especially as I am going through perimenopause stage now with all the weird symptoms and swing of energy level! When the mood is good and everything is prepped, I can complete more work in less time.

Recently I love watching these small (sewing) business vlog by many young women (college girls) on YouTube, and I marvel at how they organize their work around the school work, online shop and even doing crafts shows! I do learn many things from them and it's lovely to see how enterprising they are! Very inspiring!

Hello April

Hello,

How time flies! We observed Ramadan and celebrated Eid last month. This time I did not do much cooking since the boys are away in college. Feel a little bit sad especially for the younger one because he spent Ramadan and Eid away from the family for the first time. The elder son went to Indonesia to spend Eid with his grandma and aunts (my mom and sisters). He went for a week and had a blast! Alhamdulillah for the internet, even though we celebrated Eid in different countries, we still able to see each other on facetime.

During Ramadan, I did not do much sewing except for a couple of custom orders. So after Eid, I am eager to start making a few things.

This curtain for the side table is the first one. The main purpose is hide the ugly sights behind the curtain hahaha. The table has all sort of things, including my sons gaming consoles and accessories. I was inspired to make the curtain after watching Chiyo Kezuka post on Instagram. She had a small TV behind the curtain!! I love watching he video on Youtube too but never thought that there's TV behind it!

I got the block print fabric from Meenakshi (Rustic Origin) maybe around 2years ago. I wanted to make noren curtain in between the TV room and my sewing room. But afterwards I am not so sure , maybe later I will find an inspiration and make one!

Last month, I've been sending quite a lot of these cute keychains! I need to make more variety! I wanted to make a trip to the market to get more laces, but I always ended up buying online. It's more practical that way, plus there are more choices online.

I also made these crossbody phone bags for order. One is regular size that can fit smart phone upto 6" Height and the Plus size can for smart phone up to 6.5" height. This time, I used thin batting to give more structure since the linen is thin. Unlike the one I made last month.

And I am inspired by Rebekah's post on Instagram, I made a DIY note card using flash card and left over fabric from the bag. I cut the edges of the card and fabric using pinking scissors and then simply glue it using fabric glue. it makes pretty cute little card note, don't you think?

Phone Crossbody Bags

Corduroy Crossbody Phone Bag

Few days ago I went through my WIP drawers for the phone bag. I've been wanting to make a few bags for the shop. I have prepped a few and even sew the the flaps but somehow never got around to finish it. Here are the first 2 crossbody phone bags that I finished last week:

The corduroy bag!

I have the corduroy fabric for a long time, I think I made something with it but could not remember what! The corduroy is pretty study, so I decided to skip the interfacing for this bag. Instead, I used the interfacing on the lining just to give it enough structure but not too heavy. The flap I used indigo block print fabric. It's leftover fabric from making this quilt. For the strap and the D-ring tab, I also did not use interfacing and I kind of liking it! I was thinking to use faux leather strap that I have but somehow the color does not match. The result is roomy mini crossbody bag! I love it!

Another thing I tried, is doing the drop lining method to put the bag together. This method will be easier for those with wrist problem like me! It's easier to "birth" the bag this way. I will try to record the video and take proper photos on my next bag.

OK, next one is this Denim combo sling bag. The denim was already prepped with all purpose interfacing, so I just used that. But I did not use batting this time. The result is good and sturdy denim bag. For the strap, I did not use any interfacing since the denim is pretty heavy one.

With zipper pocket!!

The corduroy bag does not have zipper pocket because I forgot to add one! Thanks to my perimenopause brain. But if anyone want with zippered back pocket, I'll be happy to make one. This is how it looks on my dress form!

This mobile sling bag is my go to bag when I go for a walk, for a quick errand and even when I travel. The pattern has 3 sizes and the phone bag is the smallest size.

Passport Wallet & Mini Keychain Backpack

I have so much fun making this set of travel wallet and mini backpack! I have completed 2 sets now and have a few cuts and ready to sew. So stay tuned for more.

This orange crazy patchwork print fabric has been in my stash for a long time. I found it in my stash and I know instantly it's going to be great for Voyage wallet and the Viola mini backpack! Now I am thinking of making a big or medium bag in the same print! Hmm...let's see.

I made family passport wallet with the same fabric a few weeks ago and after making the small passport holder, I have a small piece leftover which is just enough to make the mini backpack! I did fussy cut for the backpack. I really love how this set turned out! Now I wish I have a trip planned haha!

Last week has been pretty busy for me. I finished a few order, working on a new stuff and also working on my website.

1. This Sunbonnet Sue wallet is now done and delivered to Tamil Nadu. It's been a while since I made Nuno wallet. I was looking at my Nuno wallet WIPS yesterday and I really need to start making more!

2. Trying out a couple more of DIY packaging for the keychains. I got the ideas from Instagram reels and Youtube Shorts. I think I like the one on the right with the part of the keychain exposed in the middle. What do you think?

3. I finally bought Eco Tank inkjet printer and also bought HTV paper. Now I can make my own Iron on label and also do personalization for wallet. Here's the first one! I kinda like this result.

I was thinking to buy Cricut but it's a bit too high for my budget right now. This Epson printer works perfectly for me for now. Can't wait to do more personalization!

Trying out new Indonesian Caramel Cake recipe I saw on Instagram! It turned out well and hubby loved it!

Had a meeting with Indonesian ambassador when she visited my city. She wanted to meet a few Indonesian who lives here (there are only 3 of us!!) and received lovely souvenirs from Indonesia! We had a lovely dinner and catching up on several news and issues. I am feeling very grateful.

Crafting Faux Leather Keychains: Simple & Fun Tutorial!

Hello,

I've been a little bit under the weather in the past week. February weather is chilly and dry in here. This is the time when you feel warm and cold at the same time!

I made a few keychains for orders a few weeks ago and took photos and videos as I go along. So this time let's learn making keychain using faux leather!

If you're in India, you can purchase high quality faux leather from furnishing shop. There a few online too but in local shop, you might be able to purchase their sample pieces at a reduced price.

Materials:

- Faux Leather 2" x 12"

- Embroidered lace 1" x 12"

- Key fob - 1" wide

- Pliers

- Fabric glue (optional)

- Size 16 needle

- Teflon foot

Let's start:

1. Cut the faux leather and lace according to the measurement mentioned above. For keychain I would recommend a high grade sofa leather, because it's more durable! I have tried using cheaper one and not happy with the result.

2. Mark and draw a line at the center of the faux leather. Then fold the edges to the center and pin using wonder clips. DO NOT use pin. You can use alligator hair pins or paper clips too.

3. Using a teflon foot, sew along the edges of the faux leather with 1/8" seam allowance from the center.

It should look like this when finished and the width should be 1" wide.

4. Now carefully place the embroidered lace in the sewn faux leather panel. The lace should be placed on the side where the raw edges are sewn. Secure with wonder clips and top stitch carefully along the sides.

5. Put the short end together and sew with seam allowance of 1/8". Back stitch at the beginning and end. Then apply fabric glue (optional). I like to use the glue to add additional strength and it also work great to prevent the lace edge from reveling.

6. Install the key fob carefully and use key fob pliers to finish it. If you don't have key fob pliers, you can use any wide mouth pliers and cover the key fob with thickish fabric (flannel or scrap batting worked best!). I have key fob pliers but the rubber came off :D.

Yay! Your keychain now is done and ready to use.

A Few Passport Wallets

Disney Passport Wallet

I just finished making this the cute Mickey Mouse family passport wallet. It's been on my WIP boxes for months waiting to be sewn and finally it's now ready and listed in the shop! The fabric is licensed Disney fabric I bought from my trip to Japan a couple of years ago. I bought a few Disney fabrics and my regret is I only bought half yard each! LOL. Come to think of it, I think I better start cutting and making something with those fabrics!

BUY THE PATTERN

I am trying to building my ready-to-ship stocks in the shop, especially for bigger and more complicated projects. I cut and prepped so many wallets and keep them in separate bins. And when I am done with my custom orders, I pick up one project and finish it.

When I'm working on a custom order, I usually cut a few more of the same project. Sometimes, I cut 2 or even a dozen more, depending on how complex the project is. By cutting out extra projects, I will always have ready-to-sew projects available to quickly sew when I don't have a custom order.

Making wallets is time-consuming. However, if I prepare several projects at once, I can save a lot of time, energy, and money. I use a sublimation heat press to iron the interfacing, which makes preparing multiple projects efficient and practical. Cutting fabrics, interfacing, and ironing is sometimes a full-day job. My heat press was definitely worth the investment!

So many pouches

Trapeze Zipper Pouches

This week is all about pouches! Not your regular zipper pouches but the FUN nested pouches, the kind that you cannot make just one. At least for me!

It's been a while since I make this trapeze zipper pouches. I usually make only one size, but this time I made more.

First is the black and white set, it was a custom order and I decided to make 2 full set. The customer asked for only 3 sizes. For the whole 4 sets, I only need 1/3 yard of each exterior fabric, lining fabric, interfacing and batting. I used cotton batting here and of course zipper of your choice. I used metal zipper to give a rustic look.

Then I decided to make another set in this pretty leaf fabric. It's a digital cotton fabric I got from local shop a few months ago. I only bought 1 yard, maybe I will ask them if they still have a few yards in stock. I really love it.

I really like using these trapeze zipper pouches to store things like pencils, crochet hooks, reading glasses, and wrist watches. I think they’re super versatile and you can do so much with them. As much as I love my bags, I've also made them as gifts for friends and family. If you're looking for a quick and easy sewing project, I highly recommend making these. The pattern includes 2 video tutorials for making quilted pouch and faux leather pouch.

And look, I got new heat transfer label!! I've been looking for this kind of label. You can find all sorts of fancy labels, even in small quantities these days. Sometimes they’re expensive, but if you’re like me, then anything is better than nothing! I ordered some multicolor ones and I think I'll get black and white later on. They stick great, and all I have to do is iron them. A decade ago I have to order from Indonesia for my labels in a small quantity. I even tried making my own label like in HERE and HERE (this is like 15 years ago!!)

Quilted pencil pouches and more

Custom made quilted pencil bags

Finally these pencil pouches are done and delivered! I love to gift handmade stuff to family and friends. Few weeks ago I gifted a quilted pencil pouch to my friend's daughter and she called up a few days later placing order for 5 pencil pouches. Apparently her daughter's friends wanted one too. Alhamdulillah!

She leaves it up to me for the fabric choice, so I went ahead and made 7 pouches. Actually I started with 8 pouches but I cut one a little but wonky so I cut and made a small coin pouch with it!

These pencil cases measured about 8" W x 4" H. It's perfect size for pencils and other stuff too, like crochet hooks and spectacles! It's multi purpose. It's fun and easy projects to make. I made a work flow video HERE when I was making the previous pencil pouches.

To make this pencil quilted pouch, here's what you need:

Exterior fabric - 9" x 5" - cut 2

Lining Fabric - 8.5" x 4.5" - cut 2

Batting - 9" x 5" - cut 2

Lightweight fusible interfacing 9" x 5" (only if you are using lightweight fabrics- optional)

9" long all purpose (size 3) zipper.

If you want to make Non quilted version, you can skip the batting and use all purpose fusible woven interfacing instead.

For the construction, please refer to THIS VIDEO of making coin purse. Well, quilted pouch takes a little bit of time to make but I find the result is better.
