When I was a kid, my MamMaw put up a tow sack swing in her mulberry tree. We cousins had may hours of fun swinging in that tree. Well…the Tech Rescue guys here at ALERT graciously gave me an old rappelling rope and I bought some burlap from Hobby Lobby. I was able to talk Nana and my wife into sewing me a couple of sacks and I made a swing of my own. We have already made some great memories…here are the pictures to prove it!

Savannah turns six!

Savannah had her sixth birthday last week and she told us she wanted to have a princess party! After tossing around some ideas, Catherine finally came up with a plan. The invitations were sent out, and although there were many we wanted to invite, our living room would only hold so many, so we weren’t able to invite everyone we would like to. So, her friends arrived, and we started opening the gifts. The first gift she received was a pink nerf shotgun! Hmmm….well….it goes nice with the dress! Next was paper dolls…that’s more like it. Finally, she got to the last present…the one from Daddy and Mommy. The treasure chest!!! Just as she started to open it, there was a knock at the door. Savannah went and opened the door and you should have seen her face! Lo and behold, there were two REAL princesses at the door (Katharine and Siobhan two of our friends all dressed up as princesses). Savannah said with amazement…”you’re a real princess!!!” It was so cute. Katharine and Siobhan had a princess skit all arranged, and the little girls sat at their feet just mesmerized. It was really cute to see the sparkling eyes and pretty smiles of all the girls. I think the day was a success. I included some pictures…enjoy!

Another day in the life of Zoe!

Today, a precious neighbor of ours gave us fresh vegetables! Catherine put them on the front porch until she could bring them in the house. Well, Zoe found them and before we discovered what she was doing, she had eaten one whole tomato and taking bites out of all the other tomatoes. I guess she likes fresh vegetables!

Big sister helping Little Joe

Catherine asked Savannah yesterday to go see if she could comfort Little Joe because he was crying. When Catherine came to check on them a while later, this is what she found:

Savannah had propped Joe up on pillows, and tucked him in with a comfy quilt, and then snuggled up beside him and held his hand. I think Savannah is going to make a GREAT big sister!

Yes! We have cool kids!

Another great 4th of July in Big Sandy Texas. These pictures were taken while we were driving a fire truck in the Big Sandy 4th of July parade. Savannah is in the back of the truck so we didn’t get a good picture of her.

Day Four: Kindness

Day 4: Today, I’m thankful for kindness. For words spoken with love and gentleness. For peaceful spirits. They are precious!

AND, since I don’t have a picture to go along with that, I’m thankful that “milk’s favorite cookie” is mine too!

Day Three: My Grandma Clara

Day Three: Today I’m thankful for my dear Grandma Clara. Yesterday was her last day in this world with us. She was a sweet Grandma. She always had a lap open to sit on, and arms ready to hug. She loved people, most of all she loved her kids. Growing up, she loved to spend time with us – talking about family, shopping, going out to eat, and snuggling watching Wheel of Fortune. I will miss her very much. I’m so thankful for all the years I had with her, and so thankful that my children got to meet her. I’m so thankful to see her in heaven one day!

I love you, Grandma!
