Ready for some fun finds this week? I love this cooking bucket list from Pinch of Yum. It is so approachable with only eight things to make and then one task to share a meal. Totally approachable! You know I love a good kitchen accessory, so I am all over Joy the Baker’s list of kitchen splurges. I have always loved bulbs in the Spring and am enthralled with the beautiful planter the Tello and Rose shared. I may have to whip one up this weekend! Moving on to finds from this week for you. I love, love, love grilled cheese sandwiches and think that sheet pan grilled cheese from Baker Mama is pretty much genius. No need to stand over the griddle flipping when you can do it all at once in the oven. Dusting Wand

If you’re doing extra dusting with spring cleaning, you might suddenly feel like your home is super dusty. Spring cleaning has a way of showing you all sorts of dust in places you didn’t know were dusty. After the house has been closed up for a season, dust can definitely make an appearance in areas you didn’t know could get dusty.

How to Remove Dust from Your Home

There are all sorts of ways to remove dust from your home – here are my favorite multi-purpose methods.

• Vacuum Cleaner – vents, fans, corner/edges, light fixtures, baseboards, window treatments, furniture
• Dusting Wand – ceiling fans, corners, vents, surfaces
• Dusting Tools with Extendable Handle – high and hard to reach areas
• Cleaning Cloths – surfaces and walls, bookcases, furniture, cabinets
• Blind Duster – blinds
• Lint Roller – use on lampshades and tough to dust spots
• Beeswax/Dusting Polish – finishing touch to give your surfaces a shine

I keep my weekly dusting essentials in a little caddy – I like having everything at the ready for Tuesday (Tuesday is Dusting Day) and I’ve found that keeping it all in one place is convenient and keeps me from wasting time looking for supplies and tools.

Why dust on Tuesdays?

Dusting should always come before vacuuming because you are whipping up dust as you dust and you want to be able to vacuum the dust up.  New to the Clean Mama Cleaning Routine?  Go here. Curious what products I use? Go here.

3 Tips to Keep Up with the Dust

1. Dusting consistently is key to keeping up with the dusting. I find that weekly dusting works for this – if I see a little dust on a table during the week I either ignore it or do a quick wipe down.
2. Keep less on the surfaces so it’s quick and easy to dust.
3. Change furnace and air filters when it’s recommended for your home system.

Tips & Tricks to Eliminate Dust and Keep It Away

For weekly dusting, use a dusting wand and quickly move through the house dusting each and every surface. When surfaces need a little more cleaning and polishing (every month or so), use a Clean Mama cleaning cloth with a dusting and cleaning spray. Need a dusting spray? Try this one – it’s awesome!

On to my finds this week. We made some absolutely delicious chocolate chip cookies this week from Joy Food Sunshine that were a snap to make. Highly recommend! I also love the market bag decorating ideas from Liz Marie, especially the wreath. If you have followed me for any amount of time, you know my love for cookbooks runs deep. I preordered and can’t wait for Love and Lemons new cookbook. Lastly, if you haven’t hopped on board spring cleaning just yet or wondering where to start, it is not too late to start. The focus for this week is bedrooms and you can find all the information linked in my blog post from this week.

We had a hankering for some chocolate chip cookies this week so after a quick search on Google, I found this one from Joy Food Sunshine. I figured with over 7,400 5 star reviews, it was worth making. So, so GOOD!

We are not strict vegetarians, but I do enjoy a meatless dinner a couple times a week. I have and love Love and Lemons first and second cookbooks and have prepordered and eagerly awaiting this one. Perfect timing for spring and summer produce on the horizon!

I have a hodge podge of finds for you this week, including a delicious cream cheese frosting glazed lemon poppyseed cake from The Vanilla Bean Blog and an Easter tree from Martha Stewart that would be so cute on a table or counter. I also appreciated the quick and easy tutorial on how to clean stains on your enameled cookware from Staub. Lastly, I started a new spring cleaning series on my blog that you need to check out. It is manageable and effective, I promise!

With the forecast predicting more snow, I am leaning heavily in to the promise of Spring one of these days. In the meantime, I will just make this lemon poppyseed Bundt cake from The Vanilla Bean Blog to make it feel a little more Spring-y inside our home.

Methods to Simplify Spring Cleaning

There are different ways to spring clean effectively but the only way your spring cleaning will be effective is if it works for you. Choose a method that makes sense for your home, your cleaning style, and the amount of time you have and want to spend on spring cleaning.

Choose a method:

1. Room by Room: This method works well if you want to deep clean a room from top to bottom. This works best if you have a larger chunk of time that you can dedicate to spring cleaning and/or you don’t want to spring clean your whole home. Want to just spring clean living areas or bedrooms?  Spring clean room by room. This method works best if you have all your supplies gathered in a caddy and ready to go.
2. Assembly Line: This method is my favorite method and what I personally use for cleaning and spring cleaning. I find it to be the most time saving method and it allows for cleaning one specific area, like the baseboards, and crossing that off the list. Instead of having all your supplies out and ready, you’ll just need task-specific supplies to get started.
3. Pick and Choose: This is the best method if you don’t want to go room by room or assembly line and clean larger areas. Want to clean the blinds in your house and wash the windows?  Game plan those things and get them done. Just need to clean the blinds in your bedroom, put it on the list.

Spring Cleaning Supplies

Once you’ve decided on your method, it’s time to make a list. You can find my lists for these methods in the brand new Spring Cleaning Guide or take some time to figure out what you want to spring clean and how you’re going to approach it.  As a general rule, you want to work from top to bottom and left to right in a room or area.

Here are a couple spring cleaning tasks to get you started:

• dust corners and edges and ceilings
• clean light fixtures/fans
• touch up / clean walls
• vacuum or launder draperies
• clean blinds
• clean window sills and sashes
• wash windows
• dust /clean surfaces
• vacuum /spot clean furniture
• launder soft goods: bedding, throw blankets, pillows, etc.
• clean high touch areas: remotes, light switches, phones
• vacuum/wash baseboards
• vacuum floors
• clean/wash area rugs
• wash hard surface floors
• deep clean carpeting
