Fast forward to 1994, the "golden" era of 16bit games. Final Fantasy 6, known as Final Fantasy 3 in America, has become one of the most talked about entries and viewed as a must have in the SNES library. Mike is joined by Trevor and Justin ('veterans' of the conversation) to converse whether not FFVI is worth all of the praise and stands the test of time in gaming.
It has been a "minute" since a point and click adventure game was discussed on the show. Mike, Lili, and Dan discuss Artifex Mundi's title, My Brother Rabbit. It's a story revolving around a brother trying to comfort his sister due to an illness by utilizing his stuffed rabbit. The conversation revolves around how the beautifully surrealistic world is crafted incorporating elements of the narrative to convey the mood of the situation along with how the game provides no form of text - exception to the main menu - or auditory clues on the challenging puzzles to solve. Oh! The music is exceptionally well-crafted too. Enjoy the episode!Support the show

“Try this new penis out" - World War II is without a doubt one of the most famous wars in American history. Though, how many times in video games – even film – can that story be told and not become flat? Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, the sequel to The New Order, takes that war infused with advanced technology and turns it upside down: the Nazis are the victors. With its ‘colorful’ characters and engaging narrative, The New Colossus is a concoction of absurdity but yet manages to ‘ground’ its characters. One more thing. The guys reassure that there are good people within the Nazis/alt-right group……PFFT. Yeah right. F ‘em. Enjoy the episode!Support the show

“30 Years” – 2017 was and is a milestone for several reasons: a newly released Zelda entry, the first Zelda title hit store shelves, SEVENTY episodes and FIVE years of yours truly. Needless to say it was a time to celebrate. With that in mind, we chose a game that kicked off the title into stardom not only for itself, but for future games to come. We felt that it was appropriate to add a couple more guests to the show, Joe Wood and Matt White, to talk about this beloved title and franchise. We send our gratitude to the past guests on the show and to our listeners. We love what we do: play video games and chat about them. Thanks and enjoy the episode!Support the show

“It’s hyper everything” – Needless to say Bayonetta is one of a kind when it comes to presentation. The game has no boundaries and pushes the level of insanity to another level. It’s over-the-top-addicting gameplay drew the guys in paired with ‘Final Fantasy’ like visuals. Bayonetta may come off as a slim vixen on the surface but, the game gradually reveals that she is more than just hyper-sexual character which defied the pre-existing notions that the guys may have had in the first place. Prior to the feature the guys discuss some Overwatch and Uncharted 4. Also, a heads up regarding E3 and a plug for FortCON. Enjoy!Support the show

In what would appear to be a bizarre cross-over between two companies – Square Enix and Disney – has widely become a fan favorite amongst the gaming community. It’s even to the point that it’s getting an “official” third title since E3’s 2013 announcement. Kingdom Hearts takes Disney and Final Fantasy characters while putting its own spin on it. In their second “side-quest” discussion, Ben and Mike who are polar opposites in this review, go in depth as to why one has such affinity for it and why the other didn’t enjoy himself while playing the game. This first-person anti-shooter created by DICE (known for their Battlefield installments and gaming engine, ‘Frostbite’) gave players the feeling of what it’s like ‘walking on air’.
Dust: An Elysian Tail

Sadly CE Lowe did not join the guys for this episode. Although, they are graced by another man: Malcolm Rodgers. Meticulous is a word that can be described about Dust: An Elysian Tail. The history behind this game has quite the struggle and not to mention the heart behind it. Back in 2009, Dean DoDrill set out to create a “metroidvania” game with anthropomorphic characters that have a Don Bluth appeal to them. This game proves one does not need a corporation to produce a memorable game. In short:the guys agree. On top of the featured discussion, Josh advances into the next generation with his trusty PS4. He briefly talks about his experience with the new console. Enjoy the episode!Support the show

Dishonored

New IP’s are a gamble especially when the gaming market is littered with sequels. Sequels typically bring familiarity to the player almost assuring that they’re in for a similar experience, but with a little bit of freshness. In late 2012, Arkane Studios released Dishonored. Dishonored was critically well received and financially succeeded with what could be considered “triple A” sales so-to-speak. The gentlemen praise the game play mechanics as it was the “bread and butter” of their experience while the narrative wasn’t captivating when it should have been. Prior to the review of Dishonored, the guys discuss about Valve’s first announcement: SteamOS. Following the SteamOS discussion is CE Lowe’s quick review of Hotline Miami. Enjoy!Support the show

Fast forward five years later. The same type of immersing experience is released exclusively on the PS3 known as Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain for lack of a better word is different than most video games that are on the store shelves. One would argue that it isn’t even a video game. However, that conversation did not take place during the review since that alone can be discussed at another day and time. The guys welcome Ryan Pickard, who is one-half of Welp, That Sucked, to the show since it was his pick. Chris had a lot of enthusiasm when he initially picked the game due its “Metroid” like nature, but he expresses a slightly different “tune” when it comes to this game. Plus, Mike and Ben (the polarity bros) “tackled” Outland in co-op mode (no pun intended). Prior to the main feature, Josh talks about his experience at E3. One particular member is not too fond of the game, at all. In fact, it’s the lowest score he has given on the podcast. Two other members feel the game is just fine and the fourth professes how much he loves the game.
Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus, was a game in 2005 that took people by surprise. This ‘sister’ installment to ICO, provided the players a non-traditional story format allowing the gamers to focus the task at hand: defeat sixteen colossi. Like ICO, it was ported to the Playstation 3 with it’s ‘brother’ as an all inclusive package back in 2011. Two of the guys believe their revisit to this ‘PS2 darling’ still has the “magic” that they experienced on the PS2 years ago while the other two members are distracted how the game hasn’t graphically or mechanically aged well. Prior to the main feature, Mike talks about his first-time experience with Dead Space, Nvidia goes mobile, and the possibility of getting a movie adaptation of this episode’s topic of discussion. Prior to the review we get to learn about Brandon’s background in gaming and have Josh give us his quick review of Shadow Complex. This marks the fifth entry that we had Nolan North as one of the voices in a video game (Batman: Arkham City, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, Shadow Complex). Again, we just love him. The guys think conceptually the game is great on paper! Who doesn’t love jet-packs? However, one reviewer had his first rage quit for the show! Fun times! Sit back and listen to the men of Co-Op Mode and their guest converse about this pulpy sci-fi adventure that had its “heart” in the right place, but never fully took “flight”.Support the show

In this side-scroller, shoot ’em up – Shadow Complex, harkens back to the golden 16-bit era. Its primarily influences are Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of The Night.
Oh crap! Uncharted, again!? Yes! In this final installment of Nathan Drake and Co. we embark on a journey for “Atlantis of the Sands.” Naughty Dog shows that they are studio to be reckoned with. With each new entry they progress with their technicalities and narrative. This is another “gem” that PS3 owners should have in their collection. But, like all games they have their issues. A few members of Co-Op Mode believe that there are a couple of misused/missed opportunities the game could have capitalized on. One of them even goes further expressing that third installment didn’t come full circle with the Uncharted series as a whole and the game itself. Also, we summarize our thoughts on the Uncharted trilogy and whether people who own a PS3 should play them. I think we all know the answer to that one. Enjoy!Support the show

It was originially released in 2003 on Xbox, PS2, GC, and eventually ported to the PC. It combined stealth, action, and puzzle solving all in one to give the gamer a variety of gameplay. It’s colorful and stylized world is still inviting for new and veteran gamers. The HD port was released back in early 2011 on the PSN and XBL. While two members rejoiced and basked in the world of Hillys, the other half did not welcome it at all.
Crysis 2

We wanted to take a break from the RPG world and dive right into something different. Crysis 2 seemed like a perfect choice. It received an incredible amount of attention for its technical achievements. In fact, it was one of the highlights at E3 in 2010. It's a shooter with "sandbox" like qualities. The game offers the player to approach a scenario in whatever way he or she desires. Do you want to be a stealthy predator? Perhaps you want to be a "tank"? How about both? The choice is yours. Amongst our conversation one could say there is a bit of crisis with the scoring system that hasn't been fully established. It's a two for one deal! What more could a person ask for? Sit back and listen to the varying opinions flood your cerebellum. Enjoy!Support the show
