Happy release day friends! This is our sixth year doing holiday cross stitch ornaments and I couldn’t be more thrilled to show off this year’s designs! The Yuletide cross stitch features festive motifs that bring a traditional classic vibe to your holiday this year! I wanted these to feel old-school, vintage, and cozy too! The best part is that this stitch is totally beginner friendly! The motifs are small, but cute, and perfect for new stitchers, or experienced stitchers looking for a relaxing fun project!

The pattern includes instructions for both the individual ornaments, and for a whole cloth version. I stitched the ornaments and my tester helped me this year and stitched the whole cloth version for me too, so I have both to display! I can’t wait for the holiday season to start so I can decorate my space!

Finished Size:

• Ornaments: 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
• Wood House Ornaments: 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
• Whole Cloth: 6.6″ x 10.4″

The pattern includes an easy-to-read full-page color-symbol charts for both the individual ornaments and the whole cloth version.

• DMC Floss, see chart below
• 15″ x 18″ Wichelt 14-Ct Aida (Beautiful Beige)
• Size 26 Embroidery Needle

Ornament Information

The sample is stitched on 14-count Wichelt Aida (Beautiful Beige) with 2 strands of DMC floss. Stitch count is 33 x 33 for each ornament. If you stitch with the recommended fabric, each finished piece will be approximately 2.4″w x 2.4″h (3.5″ x 3.5″ once finished as ornaments). I mounted them on these wooden house ornaments! I painted them with a thin layer of white acrylic paint then sanded them a touch to make them look a little rustic. I added a little gingham ribbon as well in both green and red. I think they turned out so cute! Full finishing instructions and links for everything I used is included in the pattern as well.

Whole Cloth Information

The sample is stitched on 14-count Wichelt Aida (Beautiful Beige) with 2 strands of DMC floss. The whole cloth stitch count is 93 x 146. If you stitch with the recommended fabric, the finished piece will be 6.6″ x 10.4″. I mounted my finished piece on this cute wooden house from Hobby Lobby SKU 6392781. It is a seasonal item and was on sale at the time of purchase. I stained my house using Minwax Water-based stain in Dk. Walnut, then sanded the edges to make it look more rustic. Full finishing instructions and links for everything I used is included in the pattern as well.

This cozy quilt is a wonderful way to celebrate the season and features a mix of prints from some of my previous fall fabric collections. I love how the different prints come together to create a warm, timeless look that feels like fall in every stitch. The quilt features scrappy pumpkins and tumbling leaves all around! And, stay tuned, this quilt is the first in my “Simply” series, so you can look forward to more seasonal variations coming soon!

A Cozy Quilt for Fall

The Simply Fall quilt finishes at 64″ x 70″, making it the perfect size for snuggling under on the couch with a good book, a cup of coffee, or your favorite fall movie.

It would also make a beautiful addition to your fall home décor. Drape it over the back of a sofa, fold it at the end of a bed, or keep it nearby for those cool autumn evenings.

And because the quilt is beginner friendly, it’s a great project if you’re new to quilting or simply looking for a fun, relaxing sew for the season.

Use Your Favorite Fall Fabrics

One of my favorite things about Simply Fall is that you can make it using fabrics you already have in your stash!

The quilt shown here features prints from several of my previous fall fabric lines, making it a fun way to revisit some favorite fabrics. You could also mix in your own favorite autumn prints, pumpkins, leaves, plaids, florals, and low-volume backgrounds to create a look that is uniquely yours.

This would be a great quilt to make from your fall fabric stash or even a collection of leftover fat quarters!

I recently decided that my sewing space needed an update. While I’ve loved my previous layout, I always find inspiration in moving things around and trying something new. This time I enlisted the help of chat GPT to help me figure out a new layout for my space. In hindsight, I should have been more specific on the measurements of all of my furniture and my room size. Instead, I took a photo of my room and asked it to make me a new layout that might be more functional. Here’s the photo I uploaded…

This is my previous layout. While I loved the open feeling, I really wanted to get more use out of my table space. I have my machine on the left side and so it left only half of my table as usable space.

I added a little input oh my goals and here’s what chat came back with…

While the results weren’t exactly accurate, it did give me a few ideas! I decided to try my large table in the middle of the room. I was definitely hesitant because my room is only about 13′ x 14′. And my table is about 46″ x 78″ which means that it takes up a significant amount of my space! It’s been about a month, and so far I’m actually really enjoying the space.

One of my criteria was that my desk faced the windows. Unfortunately, I work at my computer more than I sew, and I like being able to see outside. I also like having my sewing machine near my computer because I’m frequently sewing and editing patterns at the same time. Being able to go back and forth between the two is nice. I also wanted my machine near my ironing board to help speed things up for me when sewing. That said, it might be better to have it on the right side of my machine, but I think the overall layout works better this way.

As for my table…It’s so nice to be able to have the entire table free to use for cutting, laying out fabrics, arranging blocks, and generally having enough space to work. I think I’m going to really enjoy having the extra working space! Even though it’s a little tight on the back side of the table, I’ve found I have plenty of room to sew and work.

I kept my Pink Sherpa chair in the room as well, even though it’s a bit tight in the corner. I love having a chair in here. My kids and husband all come and sit throughout the day to chat with me and I love having a little company! I originally wanted the chair to sit in to cross stitch, but honestly I rarely use it. It’s mostly just for company.

The last thing I added to my room was a cozy pink rug under my main table. It really softens the room and also gives me something comfy to stand on when I’m spending time at the cutting table. I love the warm touch it gives and I think the colors will go nicely with my Christmas decor as well!
