<p>This party mood asethetic charcuterie board for kids and the young at heart. And it has a swimming hole!</p>

<p>Charcuterie boards are all the rage on lately. You can find tons of inspiration on Pinterest. I gathered several ideas and changed them up to fit the charm of a little cabin in the woods. Plus something that the kids would find magical. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids-576x1024.jpg" alt="collection of images of charcuterie board for Pinterest" class="wp-image-81830" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-Mood-Aesthetic-Charcuterie-board-for-kids.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The base is a square cutting board with a large handle. So the layout was basic. Placing items in the four corners and piling towards the center. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81834" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Stone-Chimney.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>I started with a gram cracker square held together with stiff frosting. I made my frosting using powdered suger, water and a drop or two of vanilla. </p>

<p>I added the frosting into a small zip lock bag. Sealed the bag the snipped a small hole in one bottom corner. This make a pastry bag that&#8217;s always been easier for me the handle. </p>

<p>Using a serrate knife, I cut the gram crackers instead of breaking them. Breaking them didn&#8217;t always make a straight cut. I made 4 squares and made a box. Then add two longer pieces for the roof. </p>

<p>Next, comes more detail, or snow! Then I cut more gram crackers to make a chimney. Lots of frosting covers the chimney and chopped almonds were placed into the frosting. Great idea for a stone chimney. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81832" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/party-mood-aesthetic.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The door was simply pretzel sticks, and I added broken rolled cookies as logs. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81829" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/making-a-charcuterie-board-for-kids.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The thatch roof is all bran type cereal. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81835" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/charcutie-fire.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Above the fire pit is made using red peanut patties, my favorite candy, broken into small pieces. Then I added a few logs and pretzel sticks using frosting &#8220;glue&#8221; to hold things in place. I was told the fire was yummy. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81828" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/lake-for-charcuterie-board.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>I started piling up candy and cookies to make a candy hill. </p>

<p>Next things got whacky! I had made blue jello several days before. I added a small amount to the plastic dish to set up in the fridge. When I was ready for the &#8220;pond&#8221; I add a little warm water to a bowl and placed the pond in to loosen the jello. It wouldn&#8217;t loosen! I tried again. Still no luck! I tried again pushing the smaller bowl of jello into the warm water. I pushed a bit too hard and the water came up over the jello!</p>

<p>Then I poured off the water. Dug my hands into the jello and lifted the pond from the container. The water made the jello very slippery. It almost landed on the floor! A bit more stiff frosting around the pond held it in place. </p>

<p>In Oklahoma, it&#8217;s a swimming hole! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81831" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Party-mood-aesthetic-charcuterie-board.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The only thing that would make creating this charcuterie board more fun is if I would have created it with the help of a few kids! </p>

<p>But I know a few kids that will enjoy it over Thanksgiving. </p>

<p>A winter thrift store luxe aesthetic combines cozy, vintage, and elevated styles. Styles that mix second-hand treasures with a touch of sophistication. Here’s how to achieve it.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/tempImageAyo07B.heic" alt="" class="wp-image-81810" style="aspect-ratio:9/16;object-fit:cover;width:600px"/></figure>
</div>

<p>T<em>his project is a Pinterest inspiration project. Pinterest is my happy, positive, and uplifting place on the internet. </em></p>

<p>Around 95% of the items in my winter cabinet display came from a thrift store! There&#8217;s a crystal bowl give as a gift and the silver dome butter dish came from a home store in Arizona. Everything else was collected from thrift stores and funky antique shops. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key Elements of my Winter Luxe Aesthetic</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81819" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Gather your winter luxe aesthetic items.</h3>

<p>Look for your layer of chunky knit, cashmere or wool scarves pieces with textue.</p>

<p>Collect long pearls, gold chains, silver strains.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Neutral and Earthy Tones</h3>

<p>• Stick to a palette of cream, soft beige, and vintage whites.</p>

<p>• Add the pops of gold or metallic details for a luxe feel.</p>

<p>• Inclued touches of glass for sparkle.</p>

<p>• Use silver and gold candlesticks and or a chunky holder.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81820" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/winter-luxe-lighting.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Add Lighting</h3>

<p>• Gather vintage holiday lighting or soft lighting.</p>

<p>• Grab your favorite candles, I used battery candle with a DIY chunkiness added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>• Add thrifted statement pieces like a brooch or a chunky gold necklace to add sparkle.</p>

<p>• Grab little balloon lights. <a href="https://amzn.to/3ZgX72I" data-type="link" data-id="https://amzn.to/3ZgX72I" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">These are my new favorite.</a></p>

<p>• Look for vintage glassware to hold candles, lighting, or to weigh down chunky knits in place.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81821" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Luxe-Aesthetic-Cabinet.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Jewels</h3>

<p>• Collect long pearls, gold chains, silver strains to drape over everything.&nbsp;</p>

<p>• Use shorter necklaces to wrap around candlestick bases and around bowls.</p>

<p>• Textures in Homey Layers (if creating a matching interior vibe)</p>

<p>If your display is larger, think about adding thrifted wool blankets, velvet pillows, or vintage photos. My next luse aesthetic display might be the whole room! </p>

<p>But, I&#8217;m not into dusting, so maybe I&#8217;ll keep everything contained in the cabinet. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-medium"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="300" height="132" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Pin-It--300x132.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81817" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Pin-It--300x132.jpg 300w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Pin-It--180x79.jpg 180w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Pin-It--600x263.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Pin-It-.jpg 820w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Thank you for reading along with my winter luxe aesthetic in the cabinet! Can you tell I love thrift store shopping? </p>

<p>This cabinet is one of my favorite areas to decorate. Mike and I found it in a rustic shop in Scottsdale about 20 years ago. </p>

<p>From the dollar store to the workshop, there&#8217;s a wreath that will peek your interest. </p>

<p>I don&#8217;t know about you, but this time of year gets hectic around our home. Raise your hand if your home is the same chaotic mess during the holidays. </p>

<p>I pickes these wreaths because they are either super easy and quick to make, or perfect to make while watching Hallmark Christmas movies. </p>

<p>So, let&#8217;s get started with the easiest and end with the one that requires a bit more time. -Watch two movies while make it! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">5 Easy DIY Christmas Wreaths</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Hoop Wreath</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="735" height="1100" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/3-hoops.jpg" alt="Easy Christmas Wreath" class="wp-image-16625" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/3-hoops.jpg 735w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/3-hoops-600x898.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 735px) 100vw, 735px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The hoop wteaths are so easy to make. The three above took about 2 minutes to make each one. I made them for spring, but replace the greens for Christmas holly and you&#8217;re ready to hang. </p>

<p><a href="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/3-hoops.jpg" data-type="attachment" data-id="16625">See the full tutorial on the orginial post here. </a></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The White Dollar Store Wreath</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="738" height="1104" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/winter-wreath.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-20138" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/winter-wreath.jpg 738w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/winter-wreath-600x898.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px" /></figure>

<p>This winter white wreath is perfect for Chirstmas time too. Replace the bow with jingle bells hanging from a red ribbon and it&#8217;s ready for Santa. </p>

<p><a href="https://countrydesignstyle.com/thanksgiving-wreath/" data-type="post" data-id="5588">Check out the dollar store item I used to make the white wreath here. </a></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Wrapped Wire Frame Wreath</h3>

<p class="has-small-font-size">Say that three times. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Wire-wreath-frame-hand-tied-Text.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-19641"/></figure>
</div>

<p>This wreath is easy, but it will take one Hallmark movie to finish. Simple grab a wire wreath frame and start wrapping and weaving cording, rope, chunky yarn and clothesline cord from the dollar store. Perfect movie watching activity. </p>

<p><a href="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wire-wreath-frame/" data-type="post" data-id="19629">Learm more about the wire wrapped wreath here. </a></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Classic Green Wreath</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="820" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Make-your-own-wreath-sq-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-18649" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Make-your-own-wreath-sq-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Make-your-own-wreath-sq-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--400x400.jpg 400w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Make-your-own-wreath-sq-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--100x100.jpg 100w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Make-your-own-wreath-sq-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x600.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>This classic green wreath requires hot glue, so watch your movie and your fingers at the same time! The post is about how to make a wreath. But it&#8217;s perfect for the holidays, don&#8217;t you think?</p>

<p>See the how-to for this wreath here. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">My Favorite Wreath</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-683x1024.jpg" alt="Rustic wood houses wreath" class="wp-image-80692" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-200x300.jpg 200w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-120x180.jpg 120w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-600x900.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-150x225.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons.jpg 1000w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>This wreath might take you a day of Hallmark movies, but it&#8217;s completely worth the time and the romance. I have never packed this wreath away. It always hangs somewhere in our home. Right now it&#8217;s hanging in my studio landing to my office and craft studio. </p>

<p>Today I&#8217;m sharing a peek at a few of our Home for the Holidays activities. </p>

<p>Are holiday activities span over several days. We finish our shopping several days before Christmas. That way we can relax and enjoy a peaceful holiday. No hussle and bussle around our home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here are some cozy, fun, and creative ideas for spending the holidays at home:</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree-576x1024.jpg" alt="Shaing favorite holiday pictures and creating holiday decor with photos" class="wp-image-81796" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/otis-under-the-tree.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Decorate with homemade items</h2>

<p>Decorate with homemade items. My favorite decor one year was little Otis falling fast asleep under the tree. I adore this picture so much it&#8217;s my photo on my watch. Plus, I made an ornament with a print of the picture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Set up and decorate a holiday tree with homemade ornaments. I have a good mix of handmade, old family ornaments and new.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-683x1024.jpg" alt="Rustic wood houses wreath" class="wp-image-80692" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-200x300.jpg 200w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-120x180.jpg 120w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-600x900.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons-150x225.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Wreath-for-all-seasons.jpg 1000w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Create a rustic wreath</h2>

<p>Create a wreath with pinecones, ribbons, and other natural decorations. You can keep it simple by add the elements to a <a href="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wreath-for-the-front-door/" data-type="post" data-id="80691">simple green wreath.</a> </p>

<p>Make DIY decorations, like snowflake cutouts or garlands, for windows and doors. Or try <a href="https://countrydesignstyle.com/dollar-store-snowflakes/" data-type="post" data-id="6355">hot gluing dollar store snowflakes</a> on your glass door or windows!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities-576x1024.jpg" alt="Creating Christmas gifts, decor and cards" class="wp-image-81793" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Holiday-activities.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Make handmade cards and gifts</h2>

<p>Make handmade cards to send to family and friends. I&#8217;m planning to add little pieces of artwork in the cards. </p>

<p>Frame your art to give as gifts. Make handmade ornaments to gift to teachers, neighbers and family.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Holiday-Themed Crafting</h2>

<p>Make homemade holiday cards for family, friends, or local nursing homes.</p>

<p>Create DIY ornaments using supplies around the house or from nature.</p>

<p>Try candle-making or soap-making as a fun and easy way to make holiday gifts.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Enjoy the crisp winter air</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows-576x1024.jpg" alt="roasting marshmellows over the fire outside" class="wp-image-81797" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/roasting-marshmallows.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>If possible in your area, make a fire outside or in your fireplace to roast marshmallows.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Share favorite holiday memories from your family.</p>

<p>Are you ready to unlock your inner architect? I have a video sharing how to cut and assemble the pieces. adding detailed decorations, and displaying your completed masterpiece. Get ready to unleash your creativity with these little paper houses. Plus, there are two sizes to pick from. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Choosing the right printable template</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-576x1024.jpeg" alt="Four paper houses" class="wp-image-80652" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-576x1024.jpeg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-169x300.jpeg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-101x180.jpeg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-864x1536.jpeg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-1152x2048.jpeg 1152w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-600x1067.jpeg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-150x267.jpeg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_8426-scaled.jpeg 1440w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The first printable house I created was the larger one shown above. I do suggest trying the larger house first. But I had a need to create smaller houses for a modern Christmas display. Simple and very easy to create.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Cutting and assembling the pieces</h3>

<p>To bring your paper house to life, it&#8217;s time to start cutting and assembling the pieces. Begin by cutting along the solid lines of the template. making sure to follow the outlines. You can take your time with this step to ensure accuracy in the assembly process. I don&#8217;t take my time and mine still work out fine. If you wish you can add details like doors and windows or roof tiles if you wish. Or wait until you have folded your house. I&#8217;ve done both ways. I tend to leave my houses basic&nbsp;</p>

<p>Next fold along the lines to create crisp and smooth edges.&nbsp;I use this <a href="https://amzn.to/3O1zqoI" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">cutter to cut the larger areas</a> and to make fold lines. This makes a crisp fold easy! </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Using different papers for added decorations</h3>

<p>You can use scrapbook papers or other card stock. I adore the scrapbook floral house. Try any paper that goes through your printer. No printer? Any copy store can help you.&nbsp;I bought this <a href="https://amzn.to/3O1zqoI" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">printer recently and adore it!</a></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Displaying your completed paper house</h3>

<p>It&#8217;s time to think about how you will display your completed creation. You can place it on a shelf or use it as a centerpiece on a table. They are adorable on tiered trays. Or create a miniature neighborhood with other paper houses! Share your paper house with others and let your creativity shine. They are cute as &#8220;gift tags&#8221; or tucked into stockings at Christmas.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree-576x1024.jpg" alt="Paper houses with paper star" class="wp-image-81780" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/mini-paper-house-tree.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Above I turned a thrift store frame into a Christmas tree using the smaller houses. I want to keep mine white. But you could add little windows, doors and even draw a wreath on the door. What fun to let the kiddeos color their own little houses! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tips for creating your own unique designs</h3>

<p>Add glitter, metallic accents, or tiny embellishments like miniature flowers or decorative trims. By adding your own personal touch to each house, you can make your paper house a masterpiece. Remember, the only limit is your creativity. Happy crafting!</p>

</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The steps for attaching tab to frame</h3>

<p>Pull the tab from your favorite soda can.</p>

<p>Get your hot glue gun warmed up. While it&#8217;s warming up, find the center of your frame. It&#8217;s important to find the center so your frame hangs straight. Then hot glue the tab to your frame. You can place the tab above the edge or place the tab along the bottom and use the bottom hole in the tab to place your nail. </p>

<p>Bilateral Drawing Exercises</p>

</div>

<p>The first time I encountered bilateral drawing I was about 9 years old. During one of our yearly family vacation trips to Oklahoma to visit family my uncle Terry showed me a trick. He could write his name using both hands at the same time. His left hand followed what his right hand did on the paper only backwards. It facinated me.</p>

<p>When we returned home to Arizona, I decided to try it myself. Come to find out, it wasn&#8217;t hard for me to do. Over the years, I would share my &#8220;party&#8221; trick. I&#8217;ve shared it twice on Facebook. I also learned my uncle Terry is left handed like I am. Being left handed doesn&#8217;t make a difference to anyone&#8217;s ability to master writing your name bilaterally. </p>

<p>Then Alzheimer&#8217;s grew fast within our family. I lost my mom and a dear aunt within a few months of each other. The art of mindfulness to maintain a healthy brain and nervous system is critical. More on the nervous system in the future.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Creating art with both hands is a fascinating way to engage both hemispheres of the brain at the same time. It is often referred to as ambidextrous or bilateral drawing. This practice involves using both hands to draw or paint. It often results in symmetrical or complementary images. It is though to enhance creativity, improve coordination, and stimulate brain activity.</p>

<p>Here are a few benefits and tips for creating art with both hands:</p>

<div class="wp-block-group"><div class="wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained">
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Benefits of Bilateral Drawing Exercises</h3>

<p>1.&nbsp;<strong>Brain Stimulation:</strong>&nbsp;Engages the left (logical) and right (creative) hemispheres of the brain at the same time! With a potential of enhancing cognitive abilities.</p>

<p>2.&nbsp;<strong>Coordination:</strong>&nbsp;Using both hands to create art developes your coordination. It challenges both hands to work together.</p>

<p>3.&nbsp;<strong>Creativity Boost:</strong>&nbsp;Encourages new ways of thinking. Breaks the usual patterns of your dominant hand.</p>

<p>4.&nbsp;<strong>Stress Relief:</strong>&nbsp;Can be a meditative practice, promoting relaxation and focus.</p>

<p>5. <strong>Trauma Reparation:</strong> Can be helpful in working with <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/arts-and-health/201509/bilateral-drawing-self-regulation-trauma-reparation" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">trauma reactions </a>according to Psychology Today.</p>
</div></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tips for Getting Started with your Bilaterial Drawing Exercises</h3>

<p>1.&nbsp;<strong>Start Simple:</strong>&nbsp;Begin with simple shapes or patterns. Simple will help you get comfortable using both hands at the same time.</p>

<p>2.&nbsp;<strong>Use Mirrors:</strong>&nbsp;Drawing with mirrors can help in creating symmetrical designs. &nbsp;</p>

<p>3.&nbsp;<strong>Practice:</strong>&nbsp;Like any skill, regular practice can improve your ambidextrous abilities.</p>

<p>4.&nbsp;<strong>Experiment with Mediums:</strong>&nbsp;Try different mediums. Try pencils, paints, or digital tools to see what feels most natural.</p>

<p>5.&nbsp;<strong>Stay Patient:</strong>&nbsp;It might feel awkward at first. But patience and persistence will lead to improvement.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Types of Bilateral Drawing Exercises</h3>

<p>&nbsp; 3. Color the shapes together, ensuring each hand stays within the lines.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 4. Experiment with shading and blending colors using both hands.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Ambidextrous Doodling</h4>

<p><strong>The Purpose:</strong>&nbsp;Foster creativity and spontaneous drawing skills.</p>

<p>&#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Materials:</strong>&nbsp;Paper, pens or markers.</p>

<p>&#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Instructions:</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp; 1. Set a timer for 5-10 minutes.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 2. Doodle freely with both hands at the same time.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 3. Don’t worry about the outcome; focus on the process and flow.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 4. Observe any patterns or shapes that emerge naturally.</p>

<p>Well, I think! I have to get Mike&#8217;s input on the smells. I lost most of my smelling abilities years ago. Sometimes, that a good thing. Lol! But I do have concerns if family and friends stop by and I can&#8217;t smell that there&#8217;s onion in the air. Eek!</p>

<p>From choosing the right containers and reeds, to maximizing scent distribution, you&#8217;ll learn everything you need to know to turn your living space into a fragrant oasis. Let&#8217;s dive in and discover the secrets to a beautifully scented home.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Choosing the Right Dollar Tree Containers</h2>

<p>When it comes to choosing the right Dollar Tree containers for your fragrance oils, consider both functionality and aesthetics. Pick containers that are not only sturdy and leak-proof but also complement the decor of your home. Clear glass jars can add a touch of elegance to your space. Plus you can easily see the level of fragrance oil remaining. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81449" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils-150x267.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/my-bathroom-natural-oils.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>

<p>By adding additional elements to your Dollar Tree containers, you can enhance the overall ambiance of your home with a cohesive look that reflects your taste.</p>

</div>

<p>This little candle jar is my favorite fragrance oil container. I bought 3 then went back and bought 5 more. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81459" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar-150x267.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Reed-Holder-using-Dollar-candle-jar.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The candle jar has a wood top. The wood is a soft basswood. That means it&#8217;s easy to drill through! I made a rough circle on paper. Then placed 7 holes as a template. I did have 8 lids to drill! That makes 56 holes! But, it was very easy. Make sure to use a drill bit a smidgen larger than your reeds. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81457" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this-150x267.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Dont-do-this.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Under the wood top is a soft spongy circle. I removed it from the first top, but quickly realized I should not have removed it. It holds the wood top in place on the candle jar! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f937-200d-2640-fe0f.png" alt="🤷‍♀️" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<p>So don&#8217;t do that! Instead, just drill through the spongy thing!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81460" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle-150x267.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Remove-the-candle.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Next, you need to remove the candle from the jar. This was easier than I expected! I used plyers and pulled on the wick and the candle slid right out! </p>

<div class="wp-block-kadence-image kb-image81424_031dcd-32"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-576x1024.jpg" alt="Dollar Tree container for natural room fragrance" class="kb-img wp-image-81461" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil-150x267.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Candle-jar-fragrance-oil.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure></div>

<p>This is my finish fragrance oil container using a candle jar from the Dollar Tree. I added 7 reeds to each jar and my favorite fragrance oil. I left the label on my jars, but you could add your own labels or remove them and leave it simple. </p>

<p>Do notice the wood gets darker as the oil moves up the reeds. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ideas to Add Your Personal Touch</h2>

<p>Consider adding a unique twist to your Dollar Tree containers by personalizing them with labels, decorative ribbons, or paint. You could even repurpose mason jars or tin cans for a more rustic look. Get creative with how you arrange your containers, whether it&#8217;s clustering them on a tray or shelf, or hanging them from hooks for a playful display. Engaging your senses doesn&#8217;t stop at the scent &#8211; add visual appeal by incorporating natural elements like dried flowers, seashells, or crystals around your containers. By infusing your personal style into your home fragrance display, you can create an inviting atmosphere that truly feels like your own sanctuary. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has--font-size">Selecting the Perfect Natural Room Fragrance</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why use natural room fragrance? </h3>

<p>When selecting natural fragrance oils for your home, it&#8217;s important to consider the scent profile and strength of the oils. Think about the mood you want to create in each room &#8211; whether it&#8217;s a relaxing lavender for the bedroom or a refreshing citrus for the kitchen. I looked for high-quality oils that are long-lasting and have a good throw. That means they will distribute the scent effectively throughout the space. The dollar tree and many discount stores have room fragrance oils, but they are not as lovely to smell. IMO!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Is there a real difference in the smell?</h3>

<p>I have to be completely honest, I can&#8217;t smell as well as I did in my younger years. You know the 40&#8217;s or 50&#8217;s! But when I do get a smell I want it to be lovely, soft and fresh. Even with my limited smelling abilities, I can tell the difference. You can experiment with different blends and notes to find the perfect fragrance that suits your preferences. By carefully <a href="https://amzn.to/4aHI2tT" rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" target="_blank">choosing natural room fragrance oils,</a> you can enhance the ambiance of your home and create a welcoming environment that envelops you in delightful scents. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ideas to Place your Fragrance Oils</h3>

<p>Tips for maximizing scent distribution include strategic placement of containers. Place in obvious locations, bathrooms and kitchen! But also think about air circulation. Place near windows and doors, or near air vents to help move the fragrance. Also adjust the number of reeds to achieve your desired level of fragrance throughout your home. In smaller rooms like the mudroom, closets or hallways, I place 3 or 4 reeds. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reeds or Cotton?</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-576x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-81463" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-169x300.jpg 169w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-101x180.jpg 101w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-600x1067.jpg 600w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance-150x267.jpg 150w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/reeds-for-oil-fragrance.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Personally, I don&#8217;t like the cotton sticks. They turn the color of the oil and look grungy to me. I do like the reeds. I get the <a href="https://amzn.to/4cVitaO" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">natural rattan reeds.</a> They have about 20 holes inside the reed that move the fragrance up into the air. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">When to replace reeds</h3>

<p>So far, I&#8217;ve replaced the reeds when I change fragrance to a different scent. But there have been a couple of times when I&#8217;ve reused them if the new fragrance goes with the new scent. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<p>I hope I&#8217;ve help you pick a great and inexpensive way to make your home smell amazing. Put the money into quality natural room fragrance oil and not the containers. Reeds are cheaper to buy in bulk. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tips to Make a Professional Looking Wreath </h2>

<p>To be sure, I&#8217;ve sold a few wreaths created over the years, but I&#8217;ve never considered myself a professional wreath designer. But, I have learned the basics. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Choosing the Right Wreath Materials</h3>

<p>Let&#8217;s talk about the base of your wreath. A popular choice for beginners is a simple wire or foam wreath form. These forms provide stability and are easy to work with, allowing you to focus on the fun part &#8211; decorating!</p>

<p>By the way, the boxwood wreath below has a DIY wreath base. The joy of small town living. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Fresh or artificial greenery</h3>

<p>Select foliage that complements your lifestyle. Fresh doesn&#8217;t last long and makes more of a mess. But, it smells amazing. Consider using evergreen branches, eucalyptus, or even flowers from your own garden.</p>

<p>If artificial is more your style, there are a wide variety of realistic options available. Here&#8217;s my favorite collection on Amazon.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Decorative Elements</h3>

<p>This is where you can let your creativity shine! Ribbons and bows, ornaments, pinecones, and berries, the possibilities are endless.</p>

<p>Pick your theme or occasion for your wreath and select materials that align with that vision. Don&#8217;t be afraid to mix and match textures, colors, and shapes to create a stunning design.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Wreath Making Tools</h3>

<p>The essential tools that will make your wreath-making experience a breeze.</p>

<p>Wire cutters</p>

<p>Floral wire</p>

<p>Floral tape &#8211; <a href="https://amzn.to/3SmT5ma" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">This collection has everything above &amp; is my favorite on Amazon</a></p>

<p>Hot glue guns</p>

<p>These are basic tools to attach materials to your wreath. These tools will help ensure that your design stays intact and stands the test of time and wind! I live in Oklahoma!</p>

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Step-by-Step Wreath Making</h1>

<p><strong>Step 1: Choose your wreath base</strong></p>

<p>Start by selecting a wreath base that suits your style and desired aesthetic. Most wreath bases are wire, styrofoam or some type of vine. Consider the size and shape of your wreath, keeping in mind the intended location. I tend to go larger.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2: Gather your materials</strong></p>

<p>Get creative and mix and match different elements to create a unique look. Remember, the rule of uneven numbers. Three, five or seven items tend to look better than even numbers.</p>

<p>A great idea for beginners is to gather three largest element, five medium size elements. Then fill in with smaller elements.</p>

<p>Get quirky with your items. Try small picture frames, vintage silverware for a dining room or kitchen wreath. broken jewelry pieces for a bedroom wreath.</p>

<p>Remember to add a wreath center!</p>

<p><strong>Step 3: Attach your base materials</strong></p>

<p>Work on a flat surface and create a layout. Start by placing larger elements around the wreath. Space them out to create a balanced composition. Or, gather them at the bottom or top. Then the next size elements.</p>

<p>Stop, and take a picture. Why? Because as you look at your wreath, you see 3 dimensions, but a photo on your phone, is 2 dimensions. Anything that looks off or outta whack shows better in 2D.</p>

<p>Secure your chosen base materials to the wreath form using wire cutters and floral wire or hot glue. To make sure things stay attached in the wind or if you want it to stay upright, attach in 2 spots. Start by attaching the larger elements, then the medium size.</p>

<p><strong>Step 4: Layer on more elements</strong></p>

<p>To enhance the visual appeal of your wreath add smaller elements. Play with different textures, colors, and sizes to create depth and dimension. Hot glue guns come in handy for attaching delicate or intricate pieces.</p>

<p><strong>Step 5: Add finishing touches</strong></p>

<p>To make your wreath shine, add some finishing touches that tie everything together. This could be a bow made from ribbon, a personalized sign, or even some twinkling fairy lights. These final details will elevate your wreath from ordinary to extraordinary.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Design Ideas and Inspiration</h2>

<p>The possibilities are endless when it comes to designing wreaths. Let your imagination run wild to create a wreath that reflects your personal style.</p>

<p>If you prefer a more minimalist aesthetic, consider a monochromatic wreath. Achieve this using flowers, foliage, or even ornaments in your chosen color scheme.</p>

<p>For those who appreciate a touch of whimsy, a themed wreath might be the perfect option. Whether it&#8217;s a wreath inspired by a favorite book, movie, or hobby, let your interests guide your design. Gardening enthusiast incorporate miniature gardening tools and faux flowers into your wreath.</p>

<p>Consider incorporating unconventional materials into your wreath design. Use unexpected items like recycled materials, fabric scraps, or feathers.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tips for a Professional Finish</h2>

<p>Here are some helpful tips to elevate your wreaths to professional-level creations.</p>

<p>Pay attention to the symmetry of your wreath. A well-balanced design will give your creation a harmonious and pleasing appearance. Take a moment to step back and check the arrangement of elements on your wreath. Make any necessary adjustments to colors, textures, and placements. Take a final photo.</p>

<p>Another pro tip is to invest in high-quality materials. Using quality materials gives your wreath a designer look. Plus, they tend to hold up longer making them easier to redesign and update a wreath.</p>

<p>If you have regular, normal styrofoam&nbsp;wreath you can skip the next 3 steps! &nbsp;We live in a small community. &nbsp;Not many places to get art supplies. &nbsp;Amazon in my other friend. &nbsp;But when you can&#8217;t wait to make a project, you improvise.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12464" title="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>One ~ The only wreath form was this&nbsp;round&nbsp;styrofoam&nbsp;disk. &nbsp;I used a marker to draw the inside circle.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-cutout-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-cutout | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12465" title="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-cutout | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-cutout-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-cutout-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Two ~ I used an old steak knife to carefully cut out the circle.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-shape-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-shape | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12466" title="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-shape | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-shape-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-shape-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Three ~ Still being careful and using that steak knife, I cut about a 45-degree angle. &nbsp;This was done on the inside and outside edge on the top. &nbsp;I left the bottom flat.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-wrapped-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-wrapped | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12467" title="Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-wrapped | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-wrapped-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-and-form-wrapped-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Four ~ Then I wrapped my &#8220;wreath frame&#8221; in floral tape. &nbsp;If you have a white wreath you can wrap it in floral tape or spray paint it green.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How to use floral tape</h3>

<p>If you haven&#8217;t used floral tape, add it to your shopping list. &nbsp;It&#8217;s so handy to have around. &nbsp;Floral tape is stretchy and sticks only to itself. &nbsp;Scissors are not necessary, simply tear off how much you need.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Use it on fresh and faux greens and flowers to hold together.</li>

<li>Tape on wide vases in a criss-cross pattern to help hold flowers.</li>

<li>Use to temporary hold lightweight items while you&#8217;re trying to snap a picture.</li>

<li>Wrap frail styrofoam like I did above.</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Now back to making your wreath</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12469" title="Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Five ~ I&#8217;m using the same boxwood stems in the link above from Amazon. &nbsp;Only 2 of the 4 stems were used in my 8 inch wreath. &nbsp;Use the wire cutters to remove the individual stems from the plastic &#8220;handle.&#8221;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12468" title="Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Six ~ The smaller stems just pop off. &nbsp;Other types of greens you may need to cut the smaller stems.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-faux-boxwood-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-faux-boxwood | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12471" title="Make-your-own-wreath-faux-boxwood | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-faux-boxwood-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-faux-boxwood-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Seven ~ Start adding the stems going in the same direction. &nbsp;The <a href="https://amzn.to/49bIlxi" data-type="link" data-id="https://amzn.to/49bIlxi" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">hot glue pot is the Bomb Diggity!</a></p>

<p>Take a moment and look at the image above. &nbsp;Notice on the right side the stems seem shorter and snug.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="820" height="500" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-cut-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-cut | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12470" title="Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-cut | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-cut-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 820w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-boxwood-stems-cut-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x366.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Eight ~ That&#8217;s because when I finished the wreath was too&nbsp;shaggy for the look I wanted. &nbsp;So I went around the wreath again&nbsp;and used the hedge clippers [okay, the scissors] to give it trim. &nbsp;I cut almost half the stems down. &nbsp;Then added the tops here and there.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="735" height="1100" src="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-without-big-bucks-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg" alt="Make-your-own-wreath-without-big-bucks | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" class="wp-image-12476" title="Make-your-own-wreath-without-big-bucks | Country Design Style | countrydesignstyle.com" srcset="https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-without-big-bucks-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com-.jpg 735w, https://countrydesignstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Make-your-own-wreath-without-big-bucks-Country-Design-Style-countrydesignstyle.com--600x898.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 735px) 100vw, 735px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>This is the end result.</p>

<p>Plus, I only used two of the four clusters from Amazon.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center">So, the other two clusters&#8230;</p>
