American Express has announced a new partnership with Fanatics. This will involve three things

American Express has announced a new partnership with Fanatics. This will involve three things:

New Fanatics American Express® Card card. Card will launch later this year with details available in the coming months.

Card will earn FanCash

Cardhollders will receive exclusive benefits and elevated tier status within Fanatics ONE loyalty program

Membership Rewards will be transferable to FanCash within the next year.

American Express becomes official payment partner of Fanatics & Fanatics Fest

Our Verdict

It seems like the card will be issued by First Electronic Bank and managed by Imprint. That means this isn’t a true American Express card, it just runs on the American Express payment network. A number of brands use this set up (e.g Rakuten, Shell & More).

I can’t see being able to transfer to FanCash being that useful unless the transfer rate is really good or they offer lucrative transfer bonuses. We will add this to the list of announced credit cards for 2026.

Our Verdict

Last week the code was for $28 but it was only for new users of Ibotta. Existing users seemed to get $1-4 from what I can tell. It’s not clear if it’ll be a flat discount each week or increased rates on merchants through Ibotta. Doubt this will be as good as the 7-11 fuel codes but one can hope.
Rize credit union has their Beyond Checking account which offers a 7.5% APY interest rate on balances up to $10,000 when you make 5 debit purchases. Might be limited to Nevada or certain areas

Update 5/20/26: Looks to be nationwide now, excluding ‘Idaho, Utah, Louisiana, Texas’. Hat tip to reader DW

Offer at a glance

APY: 7.5% APY

Maximum balance: $10,000

Availability: Nationwide, excluding Idaho, Utah, Louisiana, Texas

Hard/soft pull: Unknown

ChexSystems: Yes (chex sensitive for online applications)

Credit card funding: Unknown

Monthly fees: None with estatements

Early account termination fee: None

Household limit: None listed

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

Rize credit union has their Beyond Checking account which offers a 7.5% APY interest rate on balances up to $10,000.

To qualify for and earn dividends, you must make 5 debit card purchase transactions that post to your account during each statement cycle (ATM withdrawal transactions are not considered debit card purchases).

Enroll in eStatements to avoid $5 monthly fee.

Our Verdict

Excellent rate and pretty easy qualifications, we’ll add this to our Regional section of the Best Savings rates.

You might remember Rize Credit Union from the bank bonus we posted last week. A reader sent in that they were able to open both the Free Checking with the $400 bonus and the Beyond Checking for the 7.5% interest rate with one branch visit.

The account be opened online as well, but possibly only for those who live in Nevada. (The other deal was limited to Nevada, and I’m not sure if that’s a system-wide limit now for all of their accounts.) Also note that Rize is chex sensitive.

This started with Robinhood and then WeBull who offer similar matches for their paid premium subscribers. This Ally Invest offer is interesting since it has no subscription cost and it has a lower 24-month holding period.
We don’t know if they plan on running this promo each year or it’s a one-time thing. I’d consider using them long-term if it becomes an annual recurring offer.

Our Verdict

Previously this card just offered 1% cash back on all purchases so the 3% and 2% categories are new. Given that you can earn 2%+ cash back on all purchases the 1%/2% categories on this card are useless (even more true when you consider that there are better options for restaurants & gas stations). 3% on phone/internet and cable services isn’t that attractive either given the other options. $300 is one of the better cash sign up bonuses though, but the $3,000 minimum spend requirement is quite high.

Our Verdict

Comparing these offers to the prior round a few months back:

The Aspire offer is same as prior.

The Business card has 130k and waived annual fee instead of the prior offer for 175k and free night.

The Surpass has the same 130k bonus as prior, but removes the free night and instead waives the $150 annual fee for the first year.

The no fee card is now 100k + $100 versus the prior offer of 70K+free night.

I think most people will prefer the prior offers with the free nights. Because of that we probably won’t be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

Insurance Settlement

Blue Cross is being sued for violated antitrust laws by entering into an agreement not to compete with each other and to limit competition among themselves in selling health insurance and administrative services for health insurance.

Settling Defendants deny all allegations of wrongdoing and assert that their conduct results in lower healthcare costs and greater access to care for their customers. The Court has not decided who is right or wrong. Instead, Plaintiffs and Settling Defendants have agreed to a Settlement to avoid the risk and cost of further litigation.

Check your Eligibility and File a Claim Here

Who is Eligible?

If you were covered by certain Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance or administrative services plans between February 2008 and October 2020, you may be a Class Member.

You may be eligible to receive payment if you are an Individual, Insured Group (and their employees) or Self-Funded Account (and their employees) that purchased or were enrolled in a Blue Cross or Blue Shield health insurance or administrative services plan during one of the two Settlement Class Periods. Government accounts are excluded from the Class.

The Settlement Class Period for Individuals and Insured Groups is from February 7, 2008, through October 16, 2020. The Settlement Class Period for Self-Funded Accounts is from September 1, 2015 through October 16, 2020. Dependents, beneficiaries (including minors), and non-employees are NOT eligible to receive payment.

All Individuals, Insured Groups, and Self-Funded Accounts that purchased or were enrolled in a Blue Cross or Blue Shield health insurance or administrative services plan during the applicable Class Period will also benefit from the parts of the Settlement requiring Settling Defendants to change certain of their practices that were alleged to be anticompetitive. Dependents, beneficiaries (including minors), and non-employees will benefit from this part of the Settlement.

How Much Will We Get?

The Net Settlement Fund is estimated to be approximately $1.9 billion. No good estimates are given for how much you’ll get when filing.

Important Dates

February 7, 2008 through October 16, 2020 is the affected timeframe for Individuals and Insured Groups

September 1, 2015 through October 16, 2020 is the affected timeframe for Self-Funded Account

October 20, 2021 is the Fairness Hearing

November 5, 2021 is the final date to file a claim

Final Thoughts

Lots of people use the various branches of Blue Cross insurance and will be eligible for this settlement. Easy process to file – they don’t force you to give exact dates and the like (though they ask for that if possible). Some people even got a postcard with a unique code to use, others got one with no unique code and have to use the regular filing process. Hopefully it ends up being a nice check whenever this all settles.

Our Verdict

Doesn’t work to purchase Ikea gift cards, but you should be able to use any discounted gift cards you have to make your purchase. Relatively rare to see Ikea discounted.

The Crypto.com credit card traditionally earned rewards in CRO, that has now changed (at least for new cardholders) and you can choose between earning CRO or BTC. You still need to stake in CRO to avoid the monthly fees and there are earning caps if choosing to earn in BTC. The spend caps are low, for example with the Plus tier you earn 3.5% on up to $500 in spend per month.

There is also a sign up bonus of $300 after $5,000+ in spend on the Pro/Private tiers. We’ve covered this card before. I don’t think these changes make a meaningful difference for most people due to the low caps. Might be more interesting if you could stake in BTC but even then there are a lot of risks involved.
