"Eagles: Legacy" Box Set available November 2

On November 2, a new career-spanning Eagles box set is coming out called Legacy. You can read all about it in a lot of detail on the official Eagles site, but to sum up, it includes:

* Re-releases of all of the Eagles' studio albums, Eagles Live, Hell Freezes Over, the Millennium concert CD from the Selected Works, the Hell Freezes Over DVD, and the Farewell 1 Blu-Ray.

* First-time-on-CD ultra rare B-sides "Get You in the Mood" and "Funky New Year" as well as first-time-on-CD "single edits" and "single versions" of several songs (specifically, "Take It Easy", "Outlaw Man", "Best of My Love", "One of These Night", "Lyin' Eyes", and "Take It to the Limit"). For those who don't have Very Best of the Eagles, this is also your chance to get "Hole in the World" and "Please Come Home for Christmas" on CD.

* A 54-page book full of "rare and unseen photos, memorabilia, and artwork that encompasses the band’s entire career."

The price for all of this: $180.

Vinyl collectors: you can get all of the above sans the videos as a vinyl box set for $350.

Eagles.com also offers bundles with a T-shirt; it adds $20 to the price, but it's a pretty cool T-shirt (IMHO).

The Border is Open Again

The Border is open! There are probably going to be a lot of bugs and we're sporting an awful default look thanks to the fact that we had to reinstall with a software upgrade and thus lost all our customized styles, but we can once again post.

Thank you to Kay S. for coming down to my place to help me work this out, and for those who are contributing to help pay for the software upgrade and server space (we also abandoned the old server which was going down so often). Border Down

"Hotel California" deluxe 40th anniversary re-release in November 2017

A special deluxe edition of edition of Hotel California is being released in November of 2017, according to the LA Times. It comes in three versions: a remastered version of the album ($10), a remastered version of the album and a live CD with ten unreleased live tracks ($20), and then there's the REALLY deluxe version: all of the above plus a Blu-Ray audio of the album and an "11 x 11 hardbound book, rare and unseen photos from the era, a replica tour book, and an 11 x 22 poster" ($100). Remaining Eagles accept Kennedy Honors in December 2016

Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh will all participate in a tribute to Glenn at the Grammys on February 15. Jackson Browne will also be performing with them. The Grammys will be televised live on CBS so we can all see it as it happens.

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.

Here we are in 2016 - can you believe it? Before we start the new year, let's look at the year that's just gone by.

Our biggest events were the end of the History of the Eagles tour and Don Henley finally releasing his much-anticipated album Cass County. Also, the Eagles were chosen to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. Not too shabby!
