RIIO-ED1 is the first electricity distribution price control to reflect the new RIIO (Revenue = Incentives + Innovation + Outputs) mode l for network regulation. RIIO is designed to drive real benefits for consumers. It provides the companies with strong incentives to step up and meet the challenges of delivering a low carbon, sustainable energy sector at value for money for existing and future consumers.

This page provides you with information to keep you up to date with recent publications, stakeholder engagement opportunities, and key developments in the RIIO-ED1 price control review process.

The electricity distribution network operators (DNOs) hav e submitted their business plans for the eight-year RIIO-ED1 period to Ofgem. They have also published the plans on their websites, at the following locations:

Severn Trent Water has awarded a three-year contract extension to Ctrack for the provision of an advanced vehicle tracking solution for its commercial vehicle fleet. Under the agreement, the company has upgraded its existing tracking system to Ctrack Online with Driver ID's across approximately 1,700 commercial vehicles with the aim of enhancing health and safety, boosting performance and reducing operating costs.

Ctrack Online will be accessible to around 300 users at various offices across the Midlands. The web-based tracking tool will be operated alongside an existing scheduling system to support the efficient planning of jobs and to optimise processes. By accessing real-time data Severn Trent Water will have greater visibility of all vehicles, enabling them to better coordinate the fleets operations and to achieve high levels of customer service.

Meanwhile, Driver ID will enable Severn Trent Water to gain greater insight into the status and whereabouts of its Field Workers, especially employees that share multiple vehicles. This will positively contribute to the company's constant focus on Health and Safety. The vehicles are fitted with a Driver ID reader and each Field Worker is assigned a unique key that is scanned before starting a journey.

David Cross, Project Manager at Severn Trent Water commented: "The functionality and usability of the Ctrack Online system means it will meet our current and future needs to help drive productivity, completion of work and enable further Health and Safety benefits. As customer satisfaction and job resolution is at the forefront of everything we do, the new vehicle tracking platform will contribute towards this."

"Moving forward we will also be able to enhance the tracking solution by taking advantage of Ctrack's range of innovative tools to support changing business and operational requirements."

John Wisdom, Managing Director of Ctrack said: "We are the partner of choice within the utility sector because of our ability to deliver advanced tracking solutions that meet the precise needs of service management operations. This latest contract recognises the value we can provide by taking advantage of our market-leading technology and unrivalled support."

control - RIIO-T1 Tools for cost assessment

Overview:
This is the first transmission price control to reflect the new RIIO (Revenue = Incentives
+ Innovation + Outputs) model. RIIO is designed to drive real benefits for consumers;
providing network companies with strong incentives to step up and meet the challenges
of delivering a low carbon, sustainable energy sector at a lower cost than would have
been the case under our previous approach. RIIO puts sustainability alongside
consumers at the heart of what network companies do. It also provides a transparent
and predictable framework, with appropriate rewards to promote timely investment in
the networks.

Britain needs rewiring in a smarter way to
ensure secure and sustainable energy supplies
for consumers. Ofgem has introduced a new
performance based model “RIIO” to set price
controls to ensure consumers pay a fair price
for this vital investment.

12 February 2010

At 1230 GMT today the Prime Minister will join a videoconference with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia to launch a High Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing.

The launch follows the agreement reached at Copenhagen that 100bn dollars a year of public and private finance was needed by 2020 to help developing countries cope with the consequences of climate change and transition to low carbon models of economic development.

The Group - to be co-chaired by the Prime Minister and Prime Minister Meles - will explore new and innovative solutions on how to scale up long term financing for mitigation and adaptation for those most at risk.

The UN Secretary General will open the event, followed by remarks from both Prime Ministers, and then a few questions from journalists assembled in New York.
Electricity -
