For this episode, we talk a bit about what’s been up for sale, what Kelly’s won so far, and then we evasively avoid talking about everything else we want to win. Then we talk to special guest Bart Blackburn about what he won in the auction.

Right off the bat, I have to apologize to the guys. I carried my heavy Yeti microphone all the way to San Diego and lugged that thing around the Gaslamp only to lose my earbuds, which made it so I couldn’t listen to our test audio. This made it so that I didn’t catch that the microphone that recorded our audio was my laptop mic, not the Yeti, which means the audio is pretty awful. I blame the chaos and lack of sleep at Comic Con and rest assured I will never let that happen again. It also means we should definitely do this kind of podcast again in October or something.

As you guys know, in the book Ender plays The Giant's Drink in his spare time and eventually gets to a point called The End of the World. We felt this made it a nicely fitting title for a topic that is metaphorically speaking, a door blocking Ender's way.

I apologize for my audio once again. I figured out the microphone issues I had the last time, which turned out to be really ridiculously stupid, but this time have a cold. So while it may sometimes sound like I'm getting so emotional that I'm moved to tears, sorry to disappoint, but I was merely losing my voice!

For those of you that need a handy reference while listening to the show, here’s the first official still released by Entertainment Weekly. (click it to enlarge, though you should open it in a new tab because clicking it will stop the episode from playing)

After you listen, we’d totally love it if you guys could come here and tell us what you think. Does Crystal have a dull voice and an odd Hawaiian accent? Does Kelly talk too fast? No, really, we’d love to know because it took about five full minutes of nervous giggling and deep breathing before we could start because we each had awful things to say about ourselves.

Feel free to comment about the opening and closing music as well. Is it too loud? Is it full of awesome? Let us know!

We dubbed ourselves with an almost stupidly simple podcast name, added a tagline that keeps us PG-13, yet still gives that aura of snark we both seem to have, and viola! EnderCast is born.

I hosted a live show and podcast years ago and because it was a 3-hour show, after it was over I swore off podcasting with a seriously bad case of burnout. But with the Ender's Game movie ramping up in 2013, it seemed like a great time to get back into things, albeit on a much smaller scale.

My name is Crystal Watanabe and I will be one of the hosts of the show. I run the fansite EnderWiggin.net. My co-host will be Kelly Severs, the founder of EnderNews.com. Together, us two knuckleheads will bumble our way through starting a podcast from scratch and hopefully, between our two site audiences, get at least five people to listen to us. Forgive us if we aim low to make up for our potential for disaster.

EnderCast will be a recorded podcast, not a live show. If demand is there, we'll reconsider and possibly do a live show now and then!

In the meantime, feel free to comment around our site to tell us what you want to hear us talk about, who you'd love to hear on our show as a guest, and what we're doing right and wrong.
