Ricky Martin Wins First-Ever Latin Icon Award At MTV VMAs: “We Just Want To Unite Countries”

Ricky Martin was honored with the first-ever Latin Icon award at the 2025 MTV VMAs after performing a medley of some of his high-energy hits.

The Puerto Rican star is credited with being one of the artists to pave the way for other Latin artists to make the crossover, and was honored with a trophy for his music career. “This is for you all,” Martin said. “Thank you so much for your applause. I am addicted to your applause. That’s why I keep coming back. It’s you, not only here in America, but all over the world.”

He continued, “Thank you so much because it’s been 40 years — I started when I was a baby and we’re still here. We just want to unite countries. We just want to break boundaries and we just want to keep music alive.”

Martin dedicated his trophy to his kids, saying, “Everything I do, I do it with you in my mind and in my heart.”

Strictly's Bobby Brazier shuts down Celebrity Big Brother rumours

Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier has shut down rumours that he'll be joining the cast of ITV's Celebrity Big Brother. Responding to the suggestion that he could be one of the contestants on the rebooted spin-off, he told Woman Magazine: "Absolutely not." He continued: "I want to be an actor. Why would I do that when I've got EastEnders and other potential acting roles to think about.

"I want to be taken seriously as an actor."

Brazier is the son of late Big Brother star Jade Goody, who rose to fame after appearing on the series in 2002.

She later went back into the house for the celebrity version in 2007, which saw her embroiled in a racism row with winning contestant Shilpa Shetty. Goody passed away in 2009 after a battle with cervical cancer.

Brazier has found fame playing the role of Freddie Slater on BBC One soap EastEnders as well as finishing runner-up on 2023's edition of Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional partner Dianne Buswell.

Meanwhile, Celebrity Big Brother is set to kick off this March after a successful reboot of the main series last year.

Rumours regarding the potential cast have been doing the rounds since the series was confirmed, with Love Island's Chloe Burrows, Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, and Levi Roots all reportedly in the running to appear.

The show will also get a huge eviction shake-up with host Will Best revealing there will be two live evictions a week.

"It's going to be two evictions a week. We're going to get to have double the time together," he told The Sun.

Masters of the Air

Let’s rip off the band-aid: I’m shocked at how little I cared for “Masters of the Air.” “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific,” series produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, weren’t just perfect series that told the true stories of World War II servicemen. They were also incredible epics, taking viewers from big battles filled with unlikely heroes, experiencing instances of heartbreak, mourning, camaraderie, fear, and valor. These were also chances for sincere assessments of the personal culpability and questionable morality that happened on both sides that only made these men more human, and somehow larger-than-life.

When creators John Shiban and John Orloff announced “Masters of the Air” to complete the wartime trilogy, you couldn’t help but expect greatness. Here was another chance to learn about more heroes you never knew, seeing battles you only read in books, and becoming intimately invested in an outcome that was decided long ago. Here was a miniseries that promised an impressive list of directors: Cary Joji Fukunaga, Dee Rees, Tim Van Patten, and Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck. Here was also a different perspective. This time, told from the air.

And yet, unlike its predecessors, “Masters of the Air” doesn’t work to pull you in. We don’t have a preamble that begins in basic training or in someone’s cozy hometown. The opening salvo to the nine hour-long episodes is fairly abrupt, introducing us to two pilots—Major Gale “Buck” Cleven (Austin Butler) and Major John “Bucky” Egan (Callum Turner)—as they toast to each other’s good luck. Before long, navigator Major Harry Crosby (Anthony Boyle) also arrives. They’re part of the 100th bomber group, a division that became so accustomed to experiencing tragedies and heavy losses, they were known as the “Bloody Hundredth.”

While Donald L. Miller's book Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany serves as the series’ primary text, the real-life Crosby’s A Wing and a Prayer is also an inspiration. Hence why the bulk of the show’s voiceover is from Crosby’s perspective, a technique borrowing from the prior Spielberg-Hanks produced war shows that also employed a first-person voice. But when Crosby is elevated away from bomber to HQ, a narrative distancing away from Buck and Bucky, and the squadron’s many other fliers naturally occurs. His cavern transfers over to the audience as well.

The experiential gap between audience and show continues in the VFX, which is only partly understandable. There simply aren’t enough airworthy B-17 bombers and P-51 Mustangs available for these large-scale scenes, nevermind the fact that the antiques still flying certainly can’t endure precision sequences. Those realities forced creators’ hands to reach for the next best option: a mix of digital recreations and physical props. But there isn’t enough movie, or for that matter, television magic to replicate a real plane. The tactileness is missing. The immersiveness is gone. The dog fights and bombing runs are conducted in glossy, shiny skies where planes look like Etch A Sketch plastic. And the intended tension is just as easily shakable.

This is a series short on both realism and grandeur. And it is unable to give life to its primary characters. Buck, for instance, isn’t developed beyond being a stand-up, undaunted guy. Though Butler has found a niche playing archetypes—Elvis as a victim of corrosive capitalism and the rebellious heartthrob in the upcoming “The Bikeriders”—he is reduced to shouldering the patriotism of an era in a collection of longing looks. We know little of his inner-life (wants and desires) and even less about his personal life (we meet his partner at the beginning, but she never shows up again). Turner and Boyle fare no better; no matter how much time we spend with any of these characters, they’re little more than broad biographical re-imaginings rather than real people.

Apart from depicting acts of courage, “Masters of the Air” has very little to say about this era. Though the 100th’s base is nestled in an English country village, their surroundings are reduced to two thinly sketched local children. There are more women here, but none are as fully developed as, say, Renée Lemaire, the Belgian nurse in “Band of Brothers.” It’s a weakness not helped by the show’s rote dialogue, which sounds like a remix of war jargon from other better films like “Memphis Belle” and “A Matter of Life and Death.” As such, no one here feels like a real, complex person.

The ability to recall significantly better episodes of “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific” is another of the show’s glaring issues. “Masters of the Air” mostly follows the same blueprint of those previous Spielberg-Hanks offerings, making its own version of episodes like “Replacements” (where, in this series, a character like Robert Rosenthal played by Nate Mann emerges), “Why We Fight,” and “Okinawa.” These attempts to recapture a previously successful formula fall short because this series lacks any psychological dimension. In “Band of Brothers” an episode like “Crossroads” witnessed Winters confronting his casualties. The entirety of “The Pacific” concerns Eugene Sledge parsing his borderline war crimes. But no such introspection exists in “Masters of the Air.” It’s just a show concerned with the kind of blind patriotism that only sees war through the lens of American loss.

That kind of human complexity only takes place late, when the Tuskegee Airmen appear in an episode directed by Dee Rees. How can these Black men fight for a country that refuses to grant them rights? It’s a basic question, asked time and again. But in this series, where no white person interrogates themselves, even this kind of low-hanging fruit can offer a hearty meal. There’s one scene, for instance, where they’re talking about their sweethearts. Instead of showing a picture of a woman, one airman has a photo of his home—a nod to the pride he feels being a homeowner. These Black airmen, played by Ncuti Gatwa and Branden Cook, are so charismatic, in fact, you come to wish the entire series was about them.

And yet, it’d be difficult to label “Masters of the Air” as bad. It’s merely an average war drama, with a few sequences that will thrill, offering a little bit more insight than you had before with some sturdy period detail and costuming. It’s just that when sights are set high, a humdrum construction can be a fatal blow.

Just weeks after concluding his blockbuster ‘It’s All a Blur’ arena tour, Drake has announced dates for his 2024 U.S. ‘It’s All A Blur Tour – Big As The What?’ tour with J. Cole, presented by Cash App and Visa.

J. Cole will be joining Drake across many of the dates on the 2024 run. Produced by Live Nation, Drake and J. Cole will kick off the arena run with back-to-back shows in Denver at Ball Arena on Thursday, January 18 and Friday, January 19, before making additional stops in Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Nashville, St. Louis, Columbus, Memphis, and more; wrapping up on Wednesday, March 27 in Birmingham at BJCC’s own Legacy Arena.

Olivia Rodrigo Debates if Seeing an Ex Is a ‘Bad Idea Right?’ in Music Video Featuring Tate McRae, Iris Apatow, Madison Hu

Olivia Rodrigo will do anything to see an ex in the new Petra Collins-directed music video for her latest single, “Bad Idea Right?”

The guitar-heavy single, produced by Rodrigo’s main collaborator Dan Nigro, features Rodrigo speak-singing sassy lyrics about wanting to see a former flame, but knowing it’s not the best decision (and maybe not caring).

“Haven’t heard from you in a couple of months/ But I’m out right now and I’m all fucked up/ And you’re callin’ my phone and you’re all alone/ And I’m sensing some undertone,” Rodrigo sings in the first verse. The amped-up chorus repeats over and over, “Seeing you tonight — it’s a bad idea, right?”

The fuzzy video, which looks straight out of the ’90s, opens at a house party where Rodrigo and her real-life best friends Tate McRae, Iris Apatow and Madison Hu are congregating in the bathroom. While wandering (and crowd-surfing) around the party, random attendees confirm to Rodrigo that it’s a “bad idea, right.” But she ignores them all, saying to herself: “Fuck it, it’s fine.” She then begins her journey to said ex’s place: hitchhiking on the back of a truck in the rain and getting splashed by a slushie on public transit until she finally arrives.

The single and video were simultaneously released on Thursday night following Rodrigo’s social media teasers that gave fans a first look at the single’s music video and flirty cover art — a fuzzy photo of the popstar posing behind glass with the song’s pensive title emblazoned across it in red lipstick with kiss marks.

“Bad Idea Right?” is the second single and music video from Rodrigo’s upcoming sophomore album “Guts,” due Sept. 8 via Geffen Records. “Vampire” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rodrigo the youngest artist to debut three No. 1 hits on the chart behind “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”

“Guts” is the follow-up to her 2021 debut “Sour,” and like “Sour,” the 12-song set will be produced by Dan Nigro. “Guts” is said to be a project that will tackle the “growing pains” Rodrigo has experienced since launching into megastardom with her breakout track “Drivers License.”

In a cover story with Variety in August 2021, Rodrigo opened up about what drives her to be so candid about her emotions.

“I definitely talked about my deepest, darkest secrets and insecurities on ‘Sour’ — which is sort of strange to be like, ‘Here, you guys can have this. Anyone who wants to listen to it can listen to it,’” Rodrigo said. “But it’s really empowering when it comes out, and it’s been really awesome for me to see people resonate with that vulnerability and relate to it.”

Haley Odlozil Dies: TikTok Star Who Documented Her Cancer Battle To Millions Was 30

Haley Odlozil, who amassed an audience of millions while documenting her fight with Stage IIIC ovarian cancer on TikTok, has died at age 30.

Her husband, Taylor, announced her death on Instagram and Tiktok on Friday.

“It is with unbelievable sadness that I tell all of you my sweet Haley has passed away,” he wrote on Instagram next to a picture of the

couple with their 4-year-old son, Weston. “I cannot begin to describe the amount of heartache & grief myself & our entire family is experiencing. I never knew my heart could physically hurt.”

The cancer battle had been ongoing for eight years, and had spread to other parts of the body before her death.

The couple documented their journey on TikTok, compiling more than 2.5 million followers between the two of them.

On Friday, he had a different message.

“As the husband, I have seen every moment. The happy ones & the sad ones. One thing I can tell you, she suffered greatly fighting this disease that slowly tore her body apart for the last 8 years,” he wrote under a video that received 2.1 million likes. “The thought of her being completely healed in a body with no pain & no scars in heaven makes me so incredibly happy for her but so overwhelmingly sad I’m not there to see it.”

The couple had been together for 16 years, with Haley turning 30 in February.

In Friday’s post, Taylor bid his wife farewell.

“I love you Haley. More than I can put into words. You are a part of who I am and I will never stop loving you. I cant wait to see you again,” he wrote.

Taylor said he won’t be posting on social media “for a while” in order to process Haley’s death with his son.

Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s pregnancy announcement re-created a scene from a hit video by husband Travis Barker’s band, Blink-182

On Friday, Kardashian Barker shared video footage from a Blink-182 concert where she held up a sign that read, “Travis I’m pregnant,” from the audience.

As fans may recall, a woman did the same thing in Blink-182’s 1999 video for the hit song, “All The Small Things.”

In the video, which parodies '90s boy bands, Blink-182 performs for a crowd of adoring fans who hold up signs for the rockers that say things like “Blink Me” and “I Want You That Way, Baby.”

During video that covers an instrumental bridge, Barker kisses and rolls with a woman in an animal print bikini on the beach. That woman later, at the concert in the video, dances to the song while holding up a yellow sign that reads, “Travis I’m pregnant.”

In the video Kardashian Barker's shared, unlike the music video, Barker immediately jumped off stage to give her a hug and a kiss after seeing her sign.

Kardashian Barker’s pregnancy comes after the couple spoke of wanting to have a child together on her family’s reality show, “The Kardashians.”

“Travis and I want to have a baby,” Kardashian Barker said on the show.

She has three children with her former partner, Scott Disick: Mason, 13, Penelope, 10, and Reign, 8. Barker has two children from his previous marriage to model Shanna Moakler: Landon, 19, and Alabama, 17.

The show followed Kardashian Barker as she started IVF. However, in Season Three of “The Kardashians,” she said she was "officially done with IVF" and wanted to leave her family planning in God’s hands.

Why you shouldn’t make fun of those ‘sad’ Ben Affleck photos

Ben Affleck’s often snapped looking sad, annoyed and tired, but there’s a harsh reality behind these photos.

Affleck, 50, is one of the most famous and successful actors/directors in Hollywood and he has also had a very colourful personal life.

He was married to fellow actor Jennifer Garner and the pair share three children and he is now married to icon Jennifer Lopez.

The combination of his soaring career and star-studded personal life means he is often snapped out and about.

The man is so famous people want to see him at the grocery store, grabbing a coffee or even just chatting on the phone.

Usually, when male celebrities are photographed, they are either smiling or expressionless, but Ben’s had a history of looking sad, grumpy and even exasperated.

The result? He has become a meme.

It has become a form of sport on the internet to write funny tweets next to photos of Ben looking glum.

I suppose that reveals how rare it is to see a man convey emotion – if they do, it is meme worthy.

Sure, some of the commentary surrounding Ben’s sad faces are funny, but does it just enforce the outdated culture that men should be mocked for showing emotion?

Relationship expert Amanda Lambro said: “It is already typically difficult for men to show emotion. So if he is in fact sad, as a community, we are now pointing out to him that it isn’t acceptable to ‘look’ that way.”

Clinical psychologist Dr Aileen Alegado further explained: “It shows that this outdated concept of men having to hold in their emotion and ‘man up’ is still a widely held belief in society and we have a long way to go on a societal level.

“I see a lot of male clients who struggle to show their emotions and this impacts heavily upon their everyday life and wellbeing. It can impact upon their relationships heavily,” she said.

So what can we do to change this? Well, it’d help if we stopped making fun of Ben for daring to share an ounce of emotion.

“Talking about it, making men feel open to expressing how they feel and having these discussions in the media can help to bring about change,” Dr Alegado advised.

The reaction to Ben’s less-than-happy expressions enforces a culture that values men seeming stoic over sad.

“As a psychologist, I find when my male clients begin to open up and express their emotions, we really start to see positive change happen in all aspects of their lives,” Dr Alegado said.

Consider why you are shocked firstly and then work through it. It is a you problem and not a Ben problem.

The Oscar winner doesn’t need to learn to smile more – we need to learn to respond correctly.

“The best way to understand why we have these beliefs is to look inward at our own triggers and misconceptions. Where is this coming from for us? Once we can understand how these beliefs were formed and where these ideas came from we can actively work on reframing them for ourselves,” Dr Alegado said.

Despite the controversy, ‘The Idol’ is mostly guilty of being just plain boring.

The expression “From the sublime to the ridiculous” has seldom felt more fitting than in watching “The Idol,” HBO’s new wannabe-sexy drama, a week after the “Succession” and “Barry” finales. Although the series premiere isn’t as bad, or offensive, as reports of production issues and early reviews out of the Cannes Film Festival might have led people to believe, it’s guilty of another sin – namely, being just plain boring.

Created by Sam Levinson (“Euphoria,” who directed the opening episode) with star Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Reza Fahim, the show joins a long list of movies and TV shows pulling back the curtain on the slimy side of the music or entertainment industry. Despite endeavoring to feel provocative, “The Idol” mostly traffics in limp clichés and very, very stilted performances.

Lily-Rose Depp stars as Jocelyn, a Britney-like pop star (the comparison is overtly made) seeking to relaunch her career after an unspecified breakdown. She’s introduced as her assorted handlers fuss over and about her, reacting to a public-relations crisis created when a very private photo of her leaks online.

All of that amounts to an extended teaser, though, before Jocelyn agrees to a night out at a club, where she meets its semi-mysterious owner, Tedros (Tesfaye), and seems to be instantly drawn to him. (“Seems” being the operative word, since Depp basically is allowed to have one expression through most of the episode, so it’s frankly hard to tell.)

Although her assistant (Rachel Sennott) is convinced Tedros is bad news, Jocelyn invites him over and lets him listen to her yet-to-be-released new single. That creates an opening for him to begin his Svengali act, telling her that she needs to open up sexually in order to become a convincing singer.

Where “The Idol” goes from there remains to be seen, but if the first chapter is any indication, it’s hard to see the show getting anywhere particularly interesting. Unlike “Euphoria,” which traffics in pushing the sexual envelope around teenage characters (played, admittedly, by older actors), the glitzy backdrop actually works against the drama, such as i t is, feeling edgy or distinctive.

HBO took the unusual step of not making “The Idol” available in advance to critics who didn’t catch its Cannes screening, a sign that the network (like CNN, a unit of Warner Bros. Discovery) was hoping to avoid another drubbing before viewers had a chance to see it.

As is always the case with these things, it’s possible to run but not hide, though that decision does make one of Tedros’ lines of homespun wisdom to Jocelyn, “You’ve gotta stop caring what people think,” especially ironic.

During another exchange, Tedros muses to the pop star, “You’ve got the best job in the world. You should be having way more fun.”

Whatever else “The Idol” is or wants to be, it’s definitely not much fun.

“The Idol” premiered June 4 on HBO.

Hollywood icon Brad Pitt has had a number of high profile romances, but he's admitted that 'one of the greatest' was with Natural Born Killers star Juliette Lewis.

Brad Pitt has dated a lot of A-listers, including his ex-wives Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, but "one of the greatest" relationships he ever had was with someone he "still loves".

The 59-year-old actor met his ex-girlfriend Juliette Lewis on the set of their 1990 film Too Young to Die.

Despite Juliette being just 17 at the time while Brad was 27, the pair hit it off and went on to become one of the hottest couples in Hollywood.

The former lovers dated for three years, but decided to call it quits in early 1993.

While Juliette later said Brad is "not in my universe at all now", Brad gushed over his ex-girlfriend as he reminisced on the "great time" they had together.

"I still love the woman. There's some real genius there. I had a great time with her," he admitted in an interview.

"It was one of the greatest relationships I've ever been in. The problem is, we grow up with this vision that love conquers all, and that's just not so, is it?" he told Vanity Fair.

Back in 1993, Brad and Juliette starred alongside each other in their second film Kalifornia. Speaking about their romance at the time, Juliette said she already liked Brad as an actor before they started dating.

"We met on a movie of the week and started dating when it was over. I already liked him as an actor, plus you gotta respect somebody who’s in the same field as you," she told the Los Angeles Times.

She added: "We're like at the point in love, where we just like to see each other every single day and we don't get bored with each other, so it's really, really nice.

During an interview with The Guardian, she said: "He's not in my universe at all now. "It seems like a high-school relationship because now he's a very famous person. I look at this person that I shared a bit of history with. "I hope he finds happiness because I genuinely loved him. He's a very stand-up, good guy."

Later in 2009, she admitted that the only reason people approach her about him is because of his iconic Hollywood status. "People ask me about him just because he's famous. They don't really ask about my ex-husband, which is a far more significant relationship because we were married," she said.

He told Extra TV: “One thing I’ve always respected about how Jamie’s moved throughout his entire career, if you’ve noticed, he’s always been somebody who is extremely professional and extremely private.

“I believe when he’s ready, he’s going to address the awaiting fans in the world (about his health) the way that only he can.

When asked if Jamie had suffered a stroke, ‘The Masked Singer’ host Nick declined to give details on Jamie’s condition.

He added: “I’m probably in the same boat as you in that same sense of just knowing that, you know, as a friend, just being as respectful as I can, I don’t pry.

“I don’t ask any other questions. And other than the information that’s given to me and, you know, what’s asked of me.”

Nick also said whatever Jamie’s family has said so far is the only “information that they want to be out there”.

The presenter told Entertainment Tonight in April about Jamie: “He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so, we love it.

“I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it’s a beautiful thing.

“I know he’s doing so much better because I’m actually about to do something special for him, and doing him a favour.”

Nick had asked his online followers on 15 April to speak “words of affirmation” to help Jamie recover, adding on Instagram: “Let’s all speak complete and total recovery for the most talented human on earth with a Spirit bigger than this small planet!!

Homesick! Kourtney Kardashian opened up about missing her kids while supporting husband Travis Barker during his Blink-182 tour.

“Haven’t seen my babies in 10 days, the longest I haven’t seen them ever,” the 44-year-old reality star wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 28. “Cried for the past 2 days. Finally get to squeeze them tomorrow!”

Kardashian — who shares daughter Penelope, 10, and sons Mason, 13, and Reign, 8, with ex Scott Disick — has been on the road with Barker, 47, and his bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge. The group kicked off the series of concerts on May 4 in St. Paul, Minnesota, after announcing the string of shows in October 2022. (The trio reunited after finding out that Hoppus, 51, had been diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in April 2021.)

The Poosh founder has been documenting her time on tour via Instagram. On Sunday, she shared videos and photos from Blink-182’s performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey. A few days earlier, she posted snaps from Barker’s concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Wednesday, May 24, event was attended by Kourtney’s sister Kim Kardashian.

In a photo shared via Kourtney’s Instagram Story, the lifestyle guru gave the camera a pout as Kim blew a kiss in the background. Kim, 42, for her part, shared a behind-the-scenes snap of the sign above Barker’s dressing room before posting a video of the band on stage during their performance of “I Miss You.”

The Skims cofounder also shared a video of herself and Kourtney dancing to “All the Small Things” with friends Marni Senofonte and Harry Hudson.

The sister hangout came hours before the Thursday, May 25, season 3 premiere of The Kardashians, which teased the beginning of Kourtney and Kim’s feud over the Selfish author’s Dolce & Gabbana collaboration. The disagreement came about after Kourtney and Barker’s May 2022 nuptials in Portofino, Italy. Throughout the duo’s European celebration weekend, the wellness expert and the drummer wore Dolce & Gabbana ensembles, as did the members of the Kardashian-Jenner family.

“My mom has known [Domenico] Dolce and [Stefano] Gabbana for a long time and they were always asking me — even before the wedding — if we could do a book,” Kim explained in the season premiere. “Kourtney and Travis just worked with Dolce and that was her whole vibe of her wedding. Then after the wedding, I got a call saying they wanted me to creative direct their fashion show in Milan. I think this is such a good opportunity that I don’t want to pass this up.”

While Kim initially expressed apprehension over starting the project “too soon” after Kourtney’s wedding, she unveiled her curated line with the luxury label in September 2022.

Kourtney, meanwhile, admitted to being disappointed in Kim’s decision, accusing the SKKN by Kim CEO of using her wedding as a “business opportunity.”

“People think that it’s a misunderstanding. It’s not,” Kourtney said in the teaser, which also showed members of her family weighing in on the drama.

According to US Weekly, the singer found the rumors amusing and has no intention of pursuing anything further with Cruise, although they had a "fun" time when they met at the Formula 1 event.

Family friends of Shakira, such as Ana Lourdes Martinez and Emilio Estefan, spoke to Page Six, emphasizing that the interactions between Shakira and Cruise were friendly and not indicative of a romantic relationship.

"Miami has always been Shakira's home and refuge," confirmed Martinez.

"Even though she was living in Spain most of the time, Miami has always been a place that she loved.

"When friends are in Miami, they get together. The press wants to create a romance, but she's known Tom for a long time. She's focused on her family."

All the Best Red Carpet Moments From the 2023 Cannes Film Festival So Far

The 2023 Cannes Film Festival kicked off on Tuesday, May 16, and it's already brought together some of the biggest and brightest stars in the world. Ahead of the screening of Johnny Depp's "Jeanne du Barry," which opened the festival, photographers captured glamorous looks from Elle Fanning, Candice Swanepoel, Naomi Campbell, and more on the red carpet. Helen Mirren debuted her new blue hair and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones made it a family affair. Plus, Oscar winner Brie Larson made a splash as well — and she's on the festival's jury, so expect many more appearances from her this year. And on May 17, Viola Davis, Iris Law, Laura Harrier, and Ethan Hawke all hit the red carpet before screenings of "Monster" and "Strange Way of Life." A day later, Adriana Lima and boyfriend Andre Lemmers were photographed kissing on the Cannes carpet.

May 20 brought the premiere of Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon," and a bevy of stars showed up to see the film. Among those who walked the red carpet were the movie's stars Leonardo DiCaprio and new dad Robert De Niro, Will Ferrell, and Naomi Campbell.

Other films that are screening at this year's festival include Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City," "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," and Todd Haynes's "May December." Disney and Pixar's newest film, "Elemental," will also close out the festivities. Plus, HBO and the Weekend's very buzzy (and controversial) series "The Idol" will also be debuting its first episodes out of competition before its premiere this June.

A New York City cab driver who drove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for about 10 minutes on Tuesday night as they tried to shake off photographers has said the couple were clearly nervous during the short journey. Sukhcharn Singh, who goes by the name Sonny, told the BBC he picked them up at a local police precinct in Midtown Manhattan. Harry and Meghan's spokesperson has said in a statement that the couple endured a "relentless pursuit" that lasted for more than two hours. But Mr Singh, who witnessed one part of the drama, did not characterise his drive as a dangerous chase by paparazzi. Dressed in a navy blue shirt and speaking to reporters outside his family's home in Queens, Mr Singh described the headline-making drive. "I was on 67th Street and then the security guard hailed me. Next thing you know, Prince Harry and his wife were hopping into my cab," he said. "We got blocked by a garbage truck, and all of a sudden paparazzi came and started taking pictures." Harry and Meghan were about to share their destination when the security guard made the call to return to the police precinct. "They looked nervous, I think they were being chased the whole day or something," Mr Singh said. "They were pretty nervous, but the security guard, he was on it." In a statement, Harry and Meghan's spokesperson said they had experienced a "near-catastrophic car chase" on Tuesday. New York police confirmed an incident and said numerous photographers "made their transport challenging" - but that there were no reported collisions or injuries. One of the paparazzi drivers reportedly involved in the car chase has said it was "very tense" trying to keep up with their vehicle. Speaking anonymously to ITV's Good Morning Britain on Thursday, the driver said: "They did a lot of blocking and there was a lot of different types of manoeuvres to stop what was happening." He added: "If it was dangerous and catastrophic, it was more than likely based on the person that was driving." Photo agency Backgrid USA said it received photos of the event from photographers, "three of whom were in cars and one of whom was riding a bicycle". The agency said it took Prince Harry's allegations seriously and would be conducting its own investigation, but that according to the photographers, "there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident". "It is important to note that these photographers have a professional responsibility to cover newsworthy events and personalities, including public figures such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle," the agency added. The couple were in New York attending an awards ceremony - the Ms Foundation Women of Vision Awards - along with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland. When they were chased after leaving, the spokesperson said, they tried to take shelter from the paparazzi by going to a Manhattan police station - which is where Mr Singh picked them up. For at least the few minutes they were in Mr Singh's car, he did not believe they were in danger. "I don't think that's true, I think that's all exaggerated and stuff like that. Don't read too much into that," Mr Singh said of the statement. He later added "that must have happened before" they got in his taxi. "New York City's the safest place to be," he continued. "There's police stations, cops on every corner, there's no reason to be afraid in New York." The paparazzi were not being aggressive during his drive, he said. "They were behind us. Tom Hanks has raised the prospect of his career continuing after his death using artificial intelligence.

The Forrest Gump and Cast Away actor said the technology could be used to recreate his image, ensuring he continued to appear in movies "from now until kingdom come".

But he admitted the developments posed artistic and legal challenges.

His remarks came as the Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant said AI could be used by musicians to complete songs.

Hanks, 66, was asked about the legal ramifications of the new technology in the latest episode of The Adam Buxton podcast.

This has always been lingering," he said.

"The first time we did a movie that had a huge amount of our own data locked in a computer - literally what we looked like - was a movie called The Polar Express.

"We saw this coming, we saw that there was going to be this ability to take zeros and ones from inside a computer and turn it into a face and a character. That has only grown a billion-fold since then and we see it everywhere.

" The Polar Express, released in 2004, was the first film entirely animated using digital motion-capture technology.

Hanks said talks are being held in the film industry about how to protect actors from the effects of the technology.

"I can tell you that there is discussions going on in all of the guilds, all of the agencies, and all of the legal firms in order to come up with the legal ramifications of my face and my voice and everybody else's being our intellectual property,"

Hanks added. "What is a bona fide possibility right now is, if I wanted to, I could get together and pitch a series of seven movies that would star me in them in which I would be 32 years old from now until kingdom come.

"Anybody can now recreate themselves at any age they are by way of AI or deep fake technology. I could be hit by a bus tomorrow and that's it, but performances can go on and on and on and on.

"Outside the understanding of AI and deep fake, there'll be nothing to tell you that it's not me and me alone.

"And it's going to have some degree of lifelike quality. That's certainly an artistic challenge but it's also a legal one."

However, on Thursday, it was reported that the 55 year old Jamie Foxx's condition had worsened and his family was only keeping hope for a better outcome.

Earlier this month Foxx took to social media platform Instagram and gave a shoutout to Nick Cannon for filling in on his hosting duties for the upcoming season of "Beat Shazam". "Appreciate ya my boy @nickcannon. See u all soon," he wrote.

On April 12, Foxx's daughter Corinne had revealed that the actor had "experienced a medical complication".

The reports have also mentioned that while the family hopes for the best, they are also ‘preparing for the worst’.

Foxx was recently seen shooting the upcoming Netflix film "Back in Action" in Atlanta, as per the entertainment website The Hollywood Reporter. "Back in Action" reunites Foxx with Cameron Diaz, who took an eight-year break from acting before Foxx convinced her for the action comedy.

Foxx's health crisis has been so severe that the producers of his upcoming film Back in Action decided to finish production without him. They've used Jamie's body double to complete his last scenes with co-star Cameron Diaz.

Foxx won a best actor Oscar for his role as Ray Charles in the music biopic "Ray". His most recent credits included Netflix movie "Day Shift" and a guest appearance in "Spider-Man: No Way Home".

The Daily Mail obtained a copy of little RZA’s birth certificate, which not only shows that the world’s coolest baby is named after Wu-Tang Clan member RZA and his dad, who also has the middle name Athelston, but that he’s a Taurus with Leo rising. It seems only fitting that cosmically speaking, this kid is destined to be ambitious and hardworking, but the magnetic center of attention in any room that he’s in.

Little RZA’s name appears to be following a paternal family tradition: Rocky’s legal first name is Rakim, in honor of the rapper Rakim. In 2019, Rakim told Hot 97 about signing a baby Rocky’s diaper in Harlem after his mom spotted Rakim and told him the baby’s name. “I remember that day because that’s the first time I remember hearing somebody naming their son after me,” he said.

Fans had previously speculated that Rihanna and Rocky’s son, last spotted hanging out with his parents before their fashionably (very) late entrance to the Met Gala in New York City earlier this month, was named Noah. Not quite!

RZA’s birth name is Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, and his legacy is impressive: Beyond producing most of the Wu-Tang Clan’s records, he’s director of the martial arts movie The Man with the Iron Fists, deliverer of a legendary diss on pharma bro Martin Shkreli, composer of ice cream truck jingles for the modern era, and patron saint of Staten Island, with a boozy movie theater as his temple, among other accomplishments.

While Rih and Rocky haven’t revealed when their second child (who, as a reminder, has already been to the Oscars, Super Bowl, and Met Gala in utero, with the Super Bowl serving as the pregnancy reveal) is due, we’ll have to wait and see if they continue the namesake trend. Fans tuned in for explorations of controversial topics and for his controversial guests, who often ended up throwing chairs and brawling. Well, Jerry Springer died today. He was 79. Ann Thompson of member station WVXU reports. ANN THOMPSON, BYLINE: For nearly three decades, Jerry Springer was the host of a talk show that was seen by millions. JERRY SPRINGER: My guests today say they wish they could turn back the hands of time. Please meet Dusty (ph). He says there aren't enough excuses in a bottle of Jack Daniels for hooking up with his wife's mother. UNIDENTIFIED AUDIENCE MEMBERS: Oh. JENE GALVIN: I think his legacy is a lot of things, and it almost depends on how you knew him. THOMPSON: Lifelong friend and family spokesperson, Jene Galvin. GALVIN: Whether anybody likes it or not, his legacy is they knew him from the TV show. If you knew him from politics, then you know him in an altogether different way or an additional way. THOMPSON: But the television show was the way people remembered him most. TV critic David Bianculli interviewed Springer many times and says he was very polite and civil. But Bianculli says his television show was nothing but detrimental. However, it's a legacy that must be shared. DAVID BIANCULLI, BYLINE: If you're going to blame Jerry Springer for lowering the bar in terms of television and discourse and civility, you have to also blame the audience that had an appetite for that sort of misbehavior. THOMPSON: Gerald Norman Springer was born in London on February 13, 1944. His parents were German Jews who fled to England, and they arrived in the United States when their son was five. Springer went on to become an attorney early in life and got his start in politics before jumping to television. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1970. He was on Cincinnati City Council from 1971 until he famously resigned in 1974 after being caught writing checks for sex. He would run again and win and even served one term as Cincinnati's mayor. Jene Galvin says as a politician, he had an enviable approachability. GALVIN: People would just approach him with smiles on their faces, and he was kind to everybody and would, you know, shoot selfies, have a conversation. THOMPSON: Hamilton County Commissioner Alicia Reece, a longtime Springer friend, says at the start of his political career, he worked to help lower the age young people could vote in Ohio. ALICIA REECE: And he said, no, if we can go to war and serve our country, we can vote. And so he came with Vote 19. And that's really what led to us being able to vote at 18. THOMPSON: Springer got out of politics and later joined a local TV station starting a long career as a newscaster, commentator and even went undercover as an unhoused person to do a series of reports. American Idol saw a rare elective departure in the sixth episode of Season 21 when 25-year-old mom of three Sara Beth opted to leave the competition.

Sara Beth already had some memorable moments this season, namely her audition that featured a remark from judge Katy Perry that some viewers regarded as slut-shaming and Sara Beth considered mom-shaming. When the red-headed musician first auditioned and revealed her age and her number of kids, Perry mock-fainted in her seat.

“If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out!” the singer said in response. Perry’s response is what drew ire. “Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much!” she quipped. Sara Beth laughed in the moment, but later said in a TikTok that the comment was “hurtful” and she felt mom-shamed.

“Katy Perry made a joke that wasn’t super kind,” Sara Beth said in the video after fans asked how she was feeling about the comment. “It was embarrassing to have that on TV, and it was hurtful,” she continued. “I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom-shaming is super lame and I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman.”

The contestant has been a mom since she was 18 and has been pursuing her music career for less than one year. During the April 2 episode, which showcased the first performances of Hollywood Week and featured mentoring from Idol alums like Justin Guarini, Clay Aiken, Jordin Sparks, David Archuleta, and more, it wasn’t her dynamic with Perry that made her want to leave. Rather, she missed her young children and no longer thought the competition was worth it.

“This opportunity is really rad, but this is actually going to be my last performance, because my heart’s at home,” she told judges Perry, Lionel Ritchie, and Luke Bryan. “So, I’m going to get home to my babies. They kind of need me.”

“A big part of me feels like I’m not cut out for show business,” Sara Beth admitted at another point in the episode. “I don’t even know what show business is.”

“I’ve been a mom since I was 18. I’ve been married since I was 18. … I don’t think I realized quite how hard it would be to be away from my kids,” she added. “They’re all still really young. … There is a lot of guilt when you leave your kids to do something completely selfish.”

She was also seen telling a producer backstage, “I feel like I’m not gonna win the show anyway, so I might as well go home.”

Sara Beth had gotten mentoring from Aiken and performed what he called an “infectiously lovely” version of The Police’s “Roxanne.” Following her performance, Perry, Ritchie, and Bryan urged Sara Beth to stay and continue pursuing her musical dreams.

“What just happened? She’s gonna leave? What just happened?” Ritchie reacted to her departure announcement in shock. Bryan said her decision “was a mistake.” Perry had Sarah come back to the stage so she could tell her, “I know life is scary. I also know that it’s easier to walk away than to be rejected. But then I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential. I know you love your family, your kids; I know that as a mother. But self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don’t leave the competition.”

The trio of panelists revealed their intentions to progress her to the next round. “You’ve opened a door you thought you’d never open, and you got a yes. And you may get another yes in the future. Do not give up,” Perry urged. But the pleas were to no avail. Sara Beth had made up her mind. “I’m really humbled and grateful, and Katy had some really nice things to say. It would be nice if my kids were a little older.

I understand how big of an opportunity this is,” she said as she left the theater. “But I still kind of want to get home. I am sure when I get home, I will regret it and be like, ‘Man, you should have stayed.’”

Sara Beth may have been a “hidden gem” and “accidental idol,” as Perry described her, but some people just don’t enjoy competition.
