NIGHT manoeuvres is a brand new collaborative project uniting London DJ/producer ABSOLUTE., a veteran dancefloor architect, with synth polymath and multi-instrumentalist Dot Major (London Grammar). NIGHT manoeuvres’ sonic aesthetic is a symbiotic fusion of the duo’s expansive skillsets commanding crowds, behind the decks and in the studio — blending ABSOLUTE.’s prowess in producing pulse-racing basslines and stone-cold hits with Dot Major’s impressive classical training and their shared love for UK underground sounds, blending percussive left-field house/techno, analogue bass and ambient textures into an emotional, often euphoric club landscape.

Let’s catch up…

Coming off the back of our first tracks and shows last year and our first fabric R2 takeover, writing sessions with some exciting vocalists and spending as much time as possible in our studio for our next string of releases on fabric and beyond. We’re coming to a point already where the identity of NIGHT manoeuvres feels more instinctive, and where the rhythm, the space and the feeling intercommunicate.

We recorded the mix live at Dot’s home studio in London. It’s a hybrid setup that we’ve been exploring playing out with recently, Technics 1210s, CDJ3000s, Eric Synths drum machine, some live piano, Oberheim OB-6 and the Erica Synths FX pedals all running through the V10. We always take at least a synth with us whenever we DJ now. The more we play live the more we appreciate the freedom this is giving us. We’d rather it feel tactile and raw in the moment together than too polished.

The idea was emotional propulsion with elements of our hybrid live show. There’s a thread of tension running through it with pads and atmosphere against drums that feel urgent and restless at times. It showcases some of our unreleased music as well as some from mates Sam Girling, Cameo Blush, an unreleased remix of us by Ploy on fabric. We’ve also weaved in some other ideas we’ve written for the future into artists we are already working with like Manami.

Up next…

We have a remix EP landing on fabric Records in March followed by original music every couple of months for the rest of the year, working our way into an album. We have hybrid live shows coming up in an Ancient Greek ruin with Caribou and a London show with Percolate where we’ll be blending DJing with live synths and drum machines. It’s exciting to be at the beginning of something unfolding and the best friendship it’s created.

Founder of the selector favourite Semi Delicious, his label – much like Demi’s own career – continues to go from strength to strength.

Demi launched Semi Delicious in 2019, and carried on releasing music throughout lockdown; despite the lack active dancefloors, there was still a hunger for new music from Demi and the other talented artists on the label, which has continued to evolve. Receiving a DJ Mag Best of British Award for Best Label in 2025, and welcoming the likes of Retromigration, Clint, D Stone, The Trip and Aldonna to the fold – 2026 promises to deliver further, with Demi’s ever growing locker of A-list demos prepped for release in coming months, and a bold new look for the label to be revealed on its next release.

2025 was also a standout year for Demi as an artist, closing out the year with the No Given Time EP on Semi Delicious, featuring collaborations with The Trip, Michelle Manetti and Hammer, he also released a standout EP on DJ Tennis’ Life & Death in collaboration with Luke Alessi, and toured extensively across the globe. Collaborating with the likes of Manami and Clint and remixing Confidence Man, Manuel Daquart, Jon Pleased Wimmin and Cinthie, 2026 promises to be another big year for Demi.

Demi Riquísimo is this week’s guest for the FMB mixtape series.

just lil is an artist and DJ from South East London. Her style is inspired by the vocals of UK underground music. Having learnt how to sing by imitating garage & grime vocals plucked from 90’s R&B, just lil found her voice and developed an intricate approach that re-contextualises the practice of sampling within more traditional songwriting structures to create a sound that feels both nostalgic and strikingly fresh. First emerging through collaborations on ones’ debut project, her debut EP ‘WWED’ built on her foundations and featured production from Cameo Blush and Dot Major and mixed by Hessle Audio’s Pearson Sound; following a series of features with Douvelle19, Ludwig A.F and on Barry Can’t Swim’s Mercury-nominated album.

We’re excited to share just lil’s mix for the FMB series this week…

BEKEFI’s innovative approach to music has garnered her a strong following and critical acclaim, establishing her as a prominent figure in the electronic music scene. As the co- founder of SOAK, her label and party series, she’s built a platform that uplifts emerging queer artists and creates inclusive spaces for underground talent to thrive. Her high-intensity sets and hybrid live performances move through house, acid, electro, and Detroit techno with raw emotion and precision. She played iconic spaces like Fabric, KOKO, Renate Berlin,Body Movements Festival, Waterworks Festival, Pikes Ibiza and Village Underground amongst others. BEKEFI has shared stages with incredible artists like Danny Tenaglia, Maya Jane Coles, HAAi, Saoirse, Midland to mention some. Through her music production she was selected as one of the emerging artists by AVA Festival in 2025.

We’re excited to share that she’s this week’s guest on the FMB Mixtape series.

Let’s catch up…

It’s been an amazing year, but the past couple of months have been truly unbelievable. I had the chance to support Danny Tenaglia at KOKO Camden, play at Body Movements Festival, Waterworks Festival,Fabric, and Village Underground, and one of my tracks was featured in John Digweed’s Apple Music mix and I also supported Kate Simko and the London Electronic Orchestra. There were many other milestones, but these stood out for me personally. I am so happy with how things are going musically. Special thanks to my team Archie, Doug and Casey.

I recorded the mix in my music studio in Hackney Wick, London and I used a turntable to be able to play some of the records I’ve been collecting from the early 90s, my Roland TR8S (for the live jamming bits) and 2 CJDs and a mixer. I recorded it with a very specific scene in mind: a dark, no-frills club with an incredible sound system where music is the only thing that matters. No lights on me, just a small lamp so I can see my records as I flick through them, while bodies move in sync with the rhythm in a hot, sweaty room. This mix feels like the third hour of an all night-long set.

Next up…

Well! Where do I begin? Working on music of course, and doing collabs with unreal talent. I am making my Budapest debut as part of the Mixmag and Burn Europe tour at the end of the year, and I am looking at a pretty busy year ahead with new residencies (which I can’t announce yet) and will be playing in many places in Europe. SOAK, my party that I co-run is going back to Fabric London and more music to be released soon. Everything I just listed, I am so so grateful for. And thank you for having me.

Let’s catch up…

I’ve been locked away in the studio writing those new bangers. It’s been really fun exploring new ideas and pushing the boundaries in many ways. Finding inspiration and new ideas through collaboration has been a big part and also, it’s more fun to do things together isn’t it? So yeah, that’s been a big focus as of late. Besides that just had the best time playing out this summer, Dekmantel festival has been a real highlight and it’s been incredible to see one of my recent singles ‘long sleeves’ pick up steam after that. Getting those stamps of approval from the biggest in the game has been very sick.

The mix was recorded in my living room, my setup is on a really low piece of furniture made for TVs, but also great for getting back pain while recording DJ mixes!

With these kinds of sets I’m always trying to kind of create an anthemic atmosphere, like just that feel of being in the peak of the day/night building towards that euphoria that we’re all craving. Trying to keep up with the energy while giving space to breathe. Leaving room to look around and take in all that’s happening in the moment. Tried to build around all the new material that has been eager to leave the studio!

Next up…

I’m continuing to work on a couple new records, really excited for what’s next. It’ll be fun to further explore the concepts I’ve been working out the last few years. New music new music new music. Can’t wait!

Once upon a time, Belfast-hailing and Persian-rooted Nina Shafai (a.k.a Nina Patrice) was known for her tendency to lean into the worlds of darker minimal and stripped back techno. Whilst, South-West born Connor Male was intrinsically linked with early 90’s proggy records, swingy UK tech house and emotive breakbeat cuts. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what we call a “Juxtaposition”. But as the two began to play together more often, a beautiful happy medium started to form. By discovering their musical roots were inherently connected they discovered that the musical elements that made each of them tick, were actually the same.

JUXTA join us on this week’s episode of the FMB mixtape series.

Let’s catch up…

To be honest, we’ve been enjoying some time away from the endless London party circuit. It’s given us time to focus on the label and explore the roots of both of our musical interests. We’ve found inspiration in other musical world’s, that we once thought were something completely separate. From seeing LCD Soundsystem transcend an entire field of people at Glasto to witnessing Robert Smith’s perfection at The Cure’s Troxy Show. Coupled with the newly found free time, where we’ve been able to listen back to forgotten B-sides and revive old records that we’re now hearing in a completely different light. We’ve been able to re-identify with the values in music that we treasure so deeply.

The mix was recorded at home using 2x Technics 1210 MK2, 2x Pioneer CDJ-900 Nexus and an Allen and Heath Xone 92 mixer.

Despite the fact that this set up is near-on our ideal combination of hardware to play on… there’s nothing that’s harder than recording a mix at home. The endless room for self criticism and the chase for transition perfection, is something that both of us have always found really tough. But having said all that, when you do get it right in the comfort of your own home, it’s nothing short of magic.

The idea behind this mix was to create something that showcased our newly positioned sound as ‘JUXTA’, whilst also honouring both of our underlying influences from BICEP over the years… From their intricate productions to the journeys they created during their transcending live shows & DJ sets . Their resurgence of an undeniably trance-influenced sound, resonated with each of our roots into dance music. With Nina growing up in Belfast, a city that for decades has been so heavily associated musically with techno and trance. To how Connor’s introduction into the electronic music world, was through playing trance and jungle records at free parties in the South West, at the humble age of 15 years old.

Each of us have always strived to make our mixes a free-flowing journey which sonically tells a story with a start, middle and an end. So, over the last few months, we’ve been endlessly going back and forth on the B-sides of old techno records, Belgium-inspired Trance cuts, late 90’s prog, swingy minimal and pad-laden electro. With the added challenge of attempting to showcase all of these styles in one 60 minute mix comprising just 13 songs.

It also just so happened that the next release on the label happens to be a proper ode to the trance era and couldn’t have fitted more perfectly into this one. Then the last track is a truly special one, which we’d like to dedicate to someone just as special, Jane <3.

Next up…

We just released a digital compilation on our mental health charity label ‘Serenity Records’ to coincide with World Mental Health Day. It’s the first time we’ve released tracks from the back catalogue digitally and synonymously aligned with World Mental Health Day. So it’s going to be lovely seeing the response to that over the next few weeks.

Beyond that we’re always on the look out for new spaces for the combined art and music parties Nina runs under her ‘Kübe 6’ imprint – it’s been nearly a year since we’ve done a party and we’re starting to get itchy! We’ve also made a number of mix-related promises to friends/labels for next year, so I guess we’ll be straight back down the Discogs rabbit hole once again…

This week we’re joined by The Trip, a DJ and production project by Max van Dijk and Oliver Hiam. The duo are the founders of the long-established party and label Tessellate. After a decade of hosting events and DJing at Corsica Studios, the duo began releasing music under the name “The Trip” in 2020.

Their sound is shaped by watching some of their favourite DJs perform at Tessellate. Sonically, they draw on UKG, progressive, tech house, and house elements from the ’90s onward, weaving these influences into a distinctive, sample-heavy style.

Now seven records deep in original material, The Trip continues to gain momentum, having released Fantasy Traxx and Uncovered in 2024. Their music has become a staple for a broad range of DJs including Palms Trax, Moxie, Avalon Emerson, Shanti Celeste, Sally C, Eliza Rose, and Pangea. They have also received significant airtime on BBC Radio 1, with Sarah Story dubbing The Trip the “DJ’s Producer”.

Off the back of their sell out All Night Long show in London at the end of 2024, the future promises an exciting mix of original and collaborative releases, alongside an increasingly busy local and international calendar.

Let’s catch up…

We’ve just got back from Ibiza and released our new EP Clubdance2025.

The mix was recorded at home on CDJs, then tidied it up in Ableton and it reflects what we’re enjoying musically at the moment.

It’s club ready but hopefully translates for home listening. It features a load of edits and reworks we’ve put together especially for this mix, as well as an unreleased track from ourselves.

Next Up…

Next up, we’re working on new original material. We’ve got some tour dates coming up, including a few at ADE and our all night long in London on 31st October at Night Tales

This week, we welcome international DJ, music producer and curator Sarah Farina. She hosts and curates the interdisciplinary Berlin event series Emergent Bass, which focuses on the historical awareness of cultural contexts of music and celebrates and uplifts the Afro-diasporic influences in underground club culture. She’s innovative, she’s skilful, and she’s the smiling antithesis of genre cliques and sour scene elitists and sprinkles positivity over the darkest bass. What you hear is all you need to know. And what you’ll hear from Sarah Farina’s sets and music productions are seamlessly blended bass-heavy frequencies and futuristic beats with fearless forays through the hardcore continuum and beyond. It’s inclusive, forward-thinking and unrestrained. It’s a genre-rejecting style that she’s named Rainbow Bass. She’s vocal about the issues of current club culture and runs the project „Transmission“ with researcher Dr. Kerstin Meißner, which aims to make the political relevance and history of international sound, club and rave culture audible and visible.

Let’s catch up…

I got to play some really lovely gigs this summer including shows in Amsterdam, at Montreux Jazz Festival, and a free, early evening event at the Berlin museum Hamburger Bahnhof. Each one was special in its own way, and the Berlin night stood out because the concept was one DJ for the whole evening. Since it was free and started at 7pm, it brought together a very diverse crowd – especially in terms of age, which I really love and is kind of rare to see, at least here. I really hope we’ll see more free, early, and generally more accessible, intergenerational and diverse events in the city.

I also spent some time in NYC, where I was spoiled with so much good, uplifting music, food and the sweetest people! And I recently hosted a remixing/editing workshop for Radio Refuge Worldwide in Berlin, which was so much fun. I learned a ton myself and hope to do more teaching in the future – it feels so nice to explore music outside of club culture, and to be in community, sharing and exchanging.

On the gear side: I just got a TR-8S drum machine and I’m learning to produce with it! Right now I’m focused on creating new music and developing material for a new EP.

Oh, and my remix of Josi Miller’s track “You Have A Drug Problem” has just been released!

The mix was recorded at home on a cozy afternoon with my usual set-up ～(￣‿￣～)

It’s a rainbow bass mix – my way of describing a colourful spectrum of sounds connected by bass, always shifting and full of energy. I’m hoping it makes people feel good, energised and want to dance!

Up Next…

I’m finishing new music and working on a track for a lovely animated short film coming out next year by Anne Isensee and I’m also preparing DJ and music production workshops, getting in better shape for my 2026 tour, and lining up some fun gigs over the next few weeks. And when I need a break… I’m working on my Nintendo Switch Mario Kart skills ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fall Forward, the long-time resident of the UK’s much-loved and prolific promoters Bugged Out! is moving steadily into a production career that spans releases on Dusky’s 21 Steps and remixes for Groove Armada and Todd Edwards. His new EP ‘Memory Phase’ sees Fall Forward distill their bright, party-ready style into their most detailed, sophisticated productions yet and thoroughly tested and perfected on some of the London’s greatest sound systems, alongside The Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, and Orbital.

Let’s catch up…

I recently released my new EP Memory Phase, you can check it out here.

This mix was recorded in my flat in South East London – one take, some loops and an attempt to tame some live drums. To paraphrase a much missed North Star, the idea was to sequence some records together without the joins being too apparent.

Up Next…

My next EP is cued up to run the algorithm gauntlet towards the end of this year.

We’re also continuing the 30th birthday year celebrations of Bugged Out, with Drumsheds in London, Document in Bristol and IWF in Liverpool to name a few.
