This is a hot book, sort of a la Zane erotica series, but the only difference is that it is a book of poems, reviews, and short essays on important subjects and topics ranging from dating, mail brides, lonely American and Canadian men and women, falling in love after divorce, the dos and dont's of dating, the new dating scene, whether it is appropriate to hire a dating coach, where to go to meet single parents, the lows of divorce court, infidelity, dumb cheating with smartphones, fertility issues, getting caught sexting while married or in a relationship, narcissism to social media preaching and building instant gratification and a me-generation etc.

Ruth Anne Lovemore and Christopher Luis Charlemagne have done a good job addressing the above mentioned topics and much more in this new book. Using their combined fields of work, psychology, psychiatry, therapy, ABS or behavior management, these two authors got tired or listening to the stories of their close friends and family members who had to go through divorce, separation and heartache. They decide to help them decipher and come to terms with the various facts of their particular cases and move on with their shattered lives. Miss Lovemore and Mr. Charlemagne present and synthesize real stories of real people who want to seek love in the wrong places and from the wrong kind of people.

The authors write about subjects such as how to make a baby, fertility issues, natural fruits and foods that boost sexual drive and may lead to pregnancy. They also show the importance of prayers and connectedness in their quest and pregnancy adventures.

This is a great read for anybody who has ever fallen in love, gotten out of love, or is thinking about dating again or getting married some day.

What are the steps involved in IVF?

First, let us define In Vitro Fertilization.

In Vitro Fertilization is usually referred to as IVF. IVF is the process of fertilization by manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. When the IVF procedure is successful, the process is combined with a procedure known as embryo transfer, which is used to physically place the embryo in the uteru
According to various pregnancy magazines and web sites, the steps are as follows.

What is involved with in vitro fertilization?
There are basically five steps in the IVF and embryo transfer process which include the following:

Monitor and stimulate the development of healthy egg(s) in the ovaries.
Collect the eggs.
Secure the sperm.
Combine the eggs and sperm together in the laboratory and provide the appropriate environment for fertilization and early embryo growth.
Transfer embryos into the uterus.
Step 1: Fertility medications are prescribed to control the timing of the egg ripening and to increase the chance of collecting multiple eggs during one of the woman's cycles. This is often referred to as ovulation induction. Multiple eggs are desired because some eggs will not develop or fertilize after retrieval. Egg development is monitored using ultrasound to examine the ovaries and urine or blood test samples to check hormone levels.

Step 2: Your eggs are retrieved through a minor surgical procedure which uses ultrasound imaging to guide a hollow needle through the pelvic cavity. Sedation and local anesthesia are provided to remove any discomfort that you might experience. The eggs are removed from the ovaries using the hollow needle, which is called follicular aspiration. Some women may experience cramping on the day of retrieval, which usually subsides the following day; however, a feeling of fullness or pressure may last for several weeks following the procedure.

Step 3: Sperm, usually obtained by ejaculation is prepared for combining with the eggs.

Step 4: In a process called insemination, the sperm and eggs are placed in incubators located in the laboratory which enables fertilization to occur. In some cases where fertilization is suspected to be low, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) may be used. Through this procedure, a single sperm is injected directly into the egg in an attempt to achieve fertilization. The eggs are monitored to confirm that fertilization and cell division are taking place. Once this occurs, the fertilized eggs are considered embryos.

Step 5: The embryos are usually transferred into the woman's uterus anywhere from one to six days later, but most commonly it occurs between two to three days following egg retrieval. At this point, the fertilized egg has divided to become a two-to-four cell embryo. The transfer process involves a speculum which is inserted into the vagina to expose the cervix. A predetermined number of embryos are suspended in fluid and gently placed through a catheter into the womb. This process is often guided by ultrasound. The procedure is usually painless, but some women experience mild cramping.

These steps are followed by rest and watching for early pregnancy symptoms. A blood test and potentially an ultrasound will be used to determine if implantation and pregnancy has occurred.

Why Do Women Have Sex? Book Review: women have sex for physical, emotional and material reasons; to boost their self-esteem, to keep their lovers

This is a review of the book, Why Women Have Sex. It is by Cindy Meston, a clinical psychologist, and David Buss, an evolutionary psychologist. It is a very thick, bulging book. I've never really wondered Why Women Have Sex. But after years of not asking the question, the answer is splayed before me.

Meston and Buss have interviewed 1,006 women from all over the world about their sexual motivation, and in doing so they have identified 237 different reasons why women have sex. Not 235. Not 236. But 237. And what are they? From the reams of confessions, it emerges that women have sex for physical, emotional and material reasons; to boost their self-esteem, to keep their lovers, or because they are raped or coerced. Love? That's just a song. We are among the bad apes now.

Why, I ask Meston, have people never really talked about this? Alfred Kinsey, the "father" of sexology, asked 7,985 people about their sexual histories in the 1940s and 50s; Masters and Johnson observed people having orgasms for most of the 60s. But they never asked why. Why?

"People just assumed the answer was obvious," Meston says. "To feel good. Nobody has really talked about how women can use sex for all sorts of resources." She rattles off a list and as she says it, I realise I knew it all along: "promotion, money, drugs, bartering, for revenge, to get back at a partner who has cheated on them. To make themselves feel good. To make their partners feel bad." Women, she says, "can use sex at every stage of the relationship, from luring a man into the relationship, to try and keep a man so he is fulfilled and doesn't stray. Duty. Using sex to get rid of him or to make him jealous."

"We never ever expected it to be so diverse," she says. "From the altruistic to the borderline evil." Evil? "Wanting to give someone a sexually transmitted infection," she explains. I turn to the book. I am slightly afraid of it. Who wants to have their romantic fantasies reduced to evolutional processes?

The first question asked is: what thrills women? Or, as the book puts it: "Why do the faces of Antonio Banderas and George Clooney excite so many women?"

We are, apparently, scrabbling around for what biologists call "genetic benefits" and "resource benefits". Genetic benefits are the genes that produce healthy children. Resource benefits are the things that help us protect our healthy children, which is why women sometimes like men with big houses. Jane Eyre, I think, can be read as a love letter to a big house.

"When a woman is sexually attracted to a man because he smells good, she doesn't know why she is sexually attracted to that man," says Buss. "She doesn't know that he might have a MHC gene complex complimentary to hers, or that he smells good because he has symmetrical features."

So Why Women Have Sex is partly a primer for decoding personal ads. Tall, symmetrical face, cartoonish V-shaped body? I have good genes for your brats. Affluent, GSOH – if too fond of acronyms – and kind? I have resource benefits for your brats. I knew this already; that is how Bill Clinton got sex, despite his astonishing resemblance to a moving potato. It also explains why Vladimir Putin has become a sex god and poses topless with his fishing rod.

Then I learn why women marry accountants; it's a trade-off. "Clooneyish" men tend to be unfaithful, because men have a different genetic agenda from women – they want to impregnate lots of healthy women. Meston and Buss call them "risk-taking, womanising 'bad boys'". So, women might use sex to bag a less dazzling but more faithful mate. He will have fewer genetic benefits but more resource benefits that he will make available, because he will not run away. This explains why women marry accountants. Accountants stick around – and sometimes they have tiny little feet!

And so to the main reason women have sex. The idol of "women do it for love, and men for joy" lies broken on the rug like a mutilated sex toy: it's orgasm, orgasm, orgasm. "A lot of women in our studies said they just wanted sex for the pure physical pleasure," Meston says. Meston and Buss garnish this revelation with so much amazing detail that I am distracted. I can't concentrate. Did you know that the World Health Organisation has a Women's Orgasm Committee? That "the G-spot" is named after the German physician Ernst Gräfenberg? That there are 26 definitions of orgasm?

And so, to the second most important reason why women have sex – love. "Romantic love," Meston and Buss write, "is the topic of more than 1,000 songs sold on iTunes." And, if people don't have love, terrible things can happen, in literature and life: "Cleopatra poisoned herself with a snake and Ophelia went mad and drowned." Women say they use sex to express love and to get it, and to try to keep it.

Love: an insurance policy

And what is love? Love is apparently a form of "long-term commitment insurance" that ensures your mate is less likely to leave you, should your legs fall off or your ovaries fall out. Take that, Danielle Steele – you may think you live in 2009 but your genes are still in the stone age, with only chest hair between you and a bloody death. We also get data which confirms that, due to the chemicals your brain produces – dopamine, norepinephrine and phenylethylamine – you are, when you are in love, technically what I have always suspected you to be – mad as Stalin.

And is the world mad? According to surveys, which Meston and Buss helpfully whip out from their inexhaustible box of every survey ever surveyed, 73% of Russian women are in love, and 63% of Japanese women are in love. What percentage of women in north London are in love, they know not. But not as many men are in love. Only 61% of Russian men are in love and only 41% of Japanese men are in love. Which means that 12% of Russian women and 22% of Japanese women are totally wasting their time.

And then there is sex as man-theft. "Sometimes men who are high in mate value are in relationships or many of them simply pursue a short-term sexual strategy and don't want commitment," Buss explains. "There isn't this huge pool of highly desirable men just sitting out there waiting for women." It's true. So how do we liberate desirable men from other women? We "mate poach". And how do we do that? We "compete to embody what men want" – high heels to show off our pelvises, lip-gloss to make men think about vaginas, and we see off our rivals with slander. We spread gossip – "She's easy!" – because that makes the slandered woman less inviting to men as a long-term partner. She may get short-term genetic benefits but she can sing all night for the resource benefits, like a cat sitting out in the rain. Then – then! – the gossiper mates with the man herself.

We also use sex to "mate guard". I love this phrase. It is so evocative an image – I can see a man in a cage, and a woman with a spear and a bottle of baby oil. Women regularly have sex with their mates to stop them seeking it elsewhere. Mate guarding is closely related to "a sense of duty", a popular reason for sex, best expressed by the Meston and Buss interviewee who says: "Most of the time I just lie there and make lists in my head. I grunt once in a while so he knows I'm awake, and then I tell him how great it was when it's over. We are happily married."

Women often mate guard by flaunting healthy sexual relationships. "In a very public display of presumed rivalry," Meston writes, "in 2008 singer and actress Jessica Simpson appeared with her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, wearing a shirt with the tagline Real Girls Eat Meat. Fans interpreted it as a competitive dig at Romo's previous mate, who is a vegetarian."

Meston and Buss also explain why the girls in my class at school went down like dominoes in 1990. One week we were maidens, the following week, we were not. We were, apparently, having sex to see if we liked it, so we could tell other schoolgirls that we had done it and to practise sexual techniques: "As a woman I don't want to be a dead fish," says one female. Another interviewee wanted to practise for her wedding night.

The authors lubricate this with a description of the male genitalia, again food themed. I include it because I am immature. "In Masters & Johnson's [1966] study of over 300 flaccid penises the largest was 5.5 inches long (about the size of a bratwurst sausage); the smallest non-erect penis was 2.25 inches (about the size of a breakfast sausage)."

Ever had sex out of pity and wondered why? "Women," say Meston and Buss, "for the most part, are the ones who give soup to the sick, cookies to the elderly and . . . sex to the forlorn." "Tired, but he wanted it," says one female. Pause for more amazing detail: fat people are more likely to stay in a relationship because no one else wants them.

Women also mate to get the things they think they want – drugs, handbags, jobs, drugs. "The degree to which economics plays out in sexual motivations," Buss says, "surprised me. Not just prostitution. Sex economics plays out even in regular relationships. Women have sex so that the guy would mow the lawn or take out the garbage. You exchange sex for dinner." He quotes some students from the University of Michigan. It is an affluent university, but 9% of students said they had "initiated an attempt to trade sex for some tangible benefit".

Medicinal sex

Then there is sex to feel better. Women use sex to cure their migraines. This is explained by the release of endormorphins during sex – they are a pain reliever. Sex can even help relieve period pains. (Why are periods called periods? Please, someone tell me. Write in.)

Women also have sex because they are raped, coerced or lied to, although we have defences against deception – men will often copulate on the first date, women on the third, so they will know it is love (madness). Some use sex to tell their partner they don't want them any more – by sleeping with somebody else. Some use it to feel desirable; some to get a new car. There are very few things we will not use sex for. As Meston says, "Women can use sex at every stage of the relationship."

And there you have it – most of the reasons why women have sex, although, as Meston says, "There are probably a few more." Probably. Before I read this book I watched women eating men in ignorance. Now, when I look at them, I can hear David Attenborough talking in my head: "The larger female is closing in on her prey. The smaller female has been ostracised by her rival's machinations, and slinks away." The complex human race has been reduced in my mind to a group of little apes, running around, rutting and squeaking.

I am not sure if I feel empowered or dismayed. I thought that my lover adored me. No – it is because I have a symmetrical face. "I love you so much," he would say, if he could read his evolutionary impulses, "because you have a symmetrical face!" "Oh, how I love the smell of your compatible genes!" I would say back. "Symmetrical face!" "Compatible genes!" "Symmetrical face!" "Compatible genes!" And so we would osculate (kiss). I am really just a monkey trying to survive. I close the book.

The Role of Spirituality in Fertility: Study Shows Spirituality Leads Women to Have More and Frequent Sex and Connectedness

Jessica Burris, one of the study’s researchers at the University of Kentucky, says that spirituality plays an important role in sexuality.

For women, spirituality was the strongest predictor for the number of sexual partners, the frequency of sex, and the tendency to have sex without a condom.

It seems that the male undergraduates were not so lucky. "The study found that spiritual men weren’t sexually affected — in fact, their frequency of sex decreased. The researchers figure men might not view spirituality as sexual because they biologically don’t think of sex as a gateway to emotional intimacy...."

Ok guys, it makes sense to accompany your wife to church or mass. If you want a baby with her, you want to make sure you pray with her. That will increase your connectedness. By increasing the emotional connectedness, you have a better chance of getting her pregnant.

Good Sex For Married Couples: Independent Women and How they Can Let a Man Be a Man

If you have friends, couples you socialize with, in most situations, you can see who wears the pants. In many households, women want to be the ones with the final say. They want men to be followers. Even to compromise, they are not willing to try. There must be a chief and an Indian, for the lack of better terms. No wonder that bedroom problems end up happening. Men have traditionally been the leaders. In many instances, leadership is determined by who brings in the most dough. In the agrarian societies, men were the ones who went out of the home to work. Therefore, they were more likely to have more money. At least, they brought more money home. Women were there to help manage it. In our modern societies and especially among some ethnic groups, too many women want to call the shots. No compromise. Some women repeat that they are not going to let a man dominate them. They want a man who respects their opinion. Very rarely will you find women who approach their husband with this type of openness, "Baby, why don't we do things your way this time?" Oh no, they are too proud to use this humble approach and get started on shoring up the relationship. And if the couple can not agree on the mundane things, the routine things of life, money, raising the kids and making other family-oriented decisions, soon their sex life will suffer. There is no doubt that sex is important in any relationship. When that bonding tool is lacking or replaced by arguments and discord, there is bound to be more trouble in the bedroom. Working hard at merging their lives will take back seat. One will rise against the other in no time.

What do you see when women of other ethnic and/or racial backgrounds are more willing to let a man be a man. There seems to be more harmony, more common, mutual goals for the benefits of the household.

We have been reading with great pleasure a book by the Reverend Stacy L. Spencer, senior pastor of New Direction Christian Church. He wants married couples to have more fun in bed. "Naked and Unashamed: The Journey Toward Sexual fulfillment in Christian Marriage" is the title of his new book. The minister is not shy of discussing some taboo subjects. In this book, he recommends couples try various sex toys and oral sex to keep their relationships intact. He adds, "God's desire is for married couples to enjoy sexual intercourse."

What every man expects from a woman is to feel wanted, included, supported and loved. Good sex is also included. As you can see, sex is not all men from women. They want companionship, friendship, respect and dedication to the journey they have embarked on. How many women are ready to quit, drop the baton when the men in their lives lose their jobs, get sick or are making much less money than their friends' husbands? It is time that we start to value the chore values that make a man a real man. What are the traits women are looking for in a man? Kindness, character, patience, hard-working qualities should be prized. Are women quick to run away from a good father, a good breadwinner who has made enough to afford those expensive cruises and all-expense paid vacations?

Many women usually complain about the few eligible men they encounter. They are only chasing after a minority, a small group of men. For them, good is defined by the amount of money that man makes, the car he drives, where he lives, the country clubs he frequents, the clothes he wears and how attractive he is. In most cases, these are ephemeral qualities. Most women do not look at the man's character and other intrinsic qualities he possesses. Dating men with money is not always a guarantee for happiness. Yes, money will make things easier, but in the end, the true qualities of kindness, patience, hard-work, trustworthiness, loyalty and fidelity will triumph.

OC Assemblyman caught discussing two simultaneous affairs on video and audio. Poor Susan Duvall, his wife who stayed in Yorba Linda with the rest of the family! Once he realized he got caught, he issued a statement giving his resignation.

The tough guy, noise-causing motorcycle rider and family values guy apparently had a few soft spots. Sacramento women were his downfall from grace. Duvall is also the owner of an insurance company.

"Duvall has unabashedly espoused conservative  principles and is known as a partisan Republican with a knack for theatrics:  He has noisily driven his Harley-Davidson motorcycle to functions. In 2008,  Duvall blasted efforts to condone gay marriage..."

We wonder whether Duvall romances his wife the same way. Based on his own admission, Duvall was not wearing a condome. Imagine his wife's reactions when she reads and hears his bragging about these two hot women in his life in Sacramento.

Mike Duvall had no idea his dais microphone was on, for about a minute before the start of a cable-televised hearing. So he was spilling the beans to this guy...another assemblyman who did not say much. Hello, Mike, sex is messy! Here is part of the recounting of his affairs.

"...."She wears little eye-patch underwear," said Duvall, who is married with two children. "So, the other day she came here with her underwear, Thursday. And  so, we had made love Wednesday--a lot! And so she'll, she's all, 'I am going  up and down the stairs, and you're dripping out of me!' So messy!"

Keep in mind the assemblyman represented Anaheim, Fullerton, Placentia, Orange, Brea, La  Habra and Yorba Linda. He also offered clues to the identity of his sex partner. 

Mike Duvall will probably learn to keep his mouth shut after sleeping with a woman who is not his wife. Actually, any woman should trust a man is not going to be on cable TV to talk about their liaison.

"And so her birthday was Monday," he said at the Wednesday, July 8 committee hearing. "I was 54 on June 14, so for a month, she was 19 years younger than  me. I said, 'Now, you're getting old. I am going to have to trade you in.' And she goes, '[I'm] 36.' She is 18 years younger than me. And so I keep  teasing her, and she goes, 'I know you French men. You divide your age by  two and add seven, and if you're older than that, you dump us.'"

Mike Duvall was not talking to a Democrat. He was telling a fellow Republican about his sordid affairs. One was not enough. He had two women among many others in Sacramento.

He referenced a second, simultaneous affair with another woman. He seemed amused that he was cheating on both his wife and a mistress.

"Oh, yeah, Sher, Shar, Shar," Duvall said. "Oh, she is hot! I talked to her yesterday. She goes, 'So are we finished?' I go, 'No, we're not finished.' I go, 'You know about the other one [Barsuglia], but she doesn't know about you!'"

Mike resigned after his comments got publicized. Now he will have enough time to spank himself.

Now, guess what he is doing. He is backtracking this way.

I have come to the conclusion that it would not be fair to my family, my constituents or to my friends on both sides of the aisle to remain in office. Thank you for writing to Q&A Confidential. You addressed many issues in your message. We will try to address them in view of what is known about our contemporary times and men who are advancing in age. First thing first, you guys are parents and business owners. These two activities bring a lot of stress. You did not mention whether you are an at-home mom. But I imagine that you have your hands full. Raising three kids in New York City while apparently having some fertility issues as related to your fruitless efforts to get pregnant is a major undertaking. You did not mention in your letter how much help you get from your husband or anybody else. As far as your marital life is concerned, I am not sure whether it is all your husband's fault. Remember that it takes two to tango. A tired and depressed man is not going to enjoy intimacy at 100%. You stated that his business has been running into financial problems. He has been very preoccupied lately. Ruling out any other health problems, that may be one of the sources of his midlife crisis.

In your message, you stated that your husband has been complaining about getting hitched too early. Apparently, both of you did not have time to sow your wild oats. You also stated that you were college sweethearts who dated exclusive. I can not tell you whether you are tired of each other after 18 years, a business and three beautiful daughters and one handsome son. Well, if we need to let the reality set in. That may be the case. Many couples call it quits after all of these memories and years together. You would not be the first ones to go through a separation or a divorce. But it appears that you are willing to do anything, whatever it takes to hang onto what you have with this man. The other question I would like to ask you is whether he has a history of depression. At that point, I would advise you to encourage him to discuss his problems with his doctor or a marriage counselor. This way, we can rule out any health issues.

I also want to congratulate you for wanting to see a shrink or a marriage counselor. Go ahead and make sure both of you see a marriage counselor if you want to save the marriage. It will be time and money well spent. There are a signs that he may be walking out on you. You talked about his non-interest in intimacy. He just does not care about pleasing you and making love to you. Have you recently checked the signs of infidelity? If no medical condition exists, he has been acting odd enough. His doctor can ask him to have a blood test whose reading may show that he has low testosterone levels. That may be one of the reasons why is libido is so low. Keep in mind that testosterone is the male hormone that drives sexual desire and other elements of male sexuality. It also governs growth of facial and pubic air and the deepening of the male voice. Also, testosterone helps build muscle and bone mass. As men age, testosterone levels gradually decline, but they do not drop that fast. It is a gradual change. At 35, would your husband be in that category? Men with low T may encounter some of the changes women experience after menopause - a higher risk of bone thinning that can lead to osteoporosis and fractures, increased irritability, problems concentrating, depression and even hot flashes. Unfortunately, besides low libido, low testosterone (T) can also lead to ED or erectile dysfunction, low energy and low bone density. Now, you may have a few clues as to where his sex drive goes. Many studies have shown that low testosterone, if left untreated, may present some clear dangers. Men with low T may not live as long as men with normal T levels. Many researchers state that this hormonal decline can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome - a combination of abdominal obesity, high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Unfortunately, research has not shown that reducing these risks or replacing T can reduce the risk of those disorders. There is a good chance that your husband's doctor may recommend testosterone replacement if the blood test results show that is what he needs. T replacement is often recommended for low libido, ED or erectile dysfunction, low bone density, loss of strength or muscle mass, low energy and depression. In the long run, testosterone replacement may have a positive development on diabetes. Researchers are still trying to answer this question. Keep in mind that low T has also been linked to diabetes. Your husband's doctor will also rule that out.

You have asked us to help you find happiness again. In the preceding sentence, you stated that you are even willing to let your husband date other girls as long as they are not mutual friends, exes or co-workers. Just be careful about what you are asking for. You may be desperately wanting to hang onto your husband, but if he wants to adopt a new lifestyle, there is not much you can do to stop him. You are about to open another can of worms. I hope you have not persuaded him to look outside your marriage as if that was a good solution to the problem. By giving him carte blanche, you may be inviting other types of problems. By giving him this option, you are telling him that it is ok to go ahead and start sowing his wild oats.

Negotiated Wedlock, Open Fidelity, Open Relationships, Family Arrangement or Affair, Extramarital Activity or Monogamy 2.0: Whatever you want to call this new phenomenon of sleeping around.

I am interested in finding out what type of relationship you have with this man, your husband. From Woodstock, we may have inherited this push for negotiated wedlock, open fidelity or monogamy 2.0. Well, let me just say that you just creating your husband's fantasy. You have just given him a pass to sleep around with any women who are not known in your immediate surroundings. Who is to say that he is going to respect this new vow? Are you ready to deal with jealousy issues? What messages are you sending out about the institution of marriage?
Well, we must recognize that for the past few decades, it has come under a lot of attack from many corners. What is clear is that married couples get bored over time. But what is supposed to be the solution to boredom? Letting your husband have his wish and fantasy by sleeping around? A lot of our contemporary new age couples are ready to accept the "for richer, for poorer" stuff but have issues with "forsaking all others."

More and more couples 2.0 are getting engaged into sexual arrangements just to have a high, a temporary one. They express that the ends justify the means. By that, they mean that once the other partner has been down this road, they often patch things up and have awesome sex again. This may work for some, but it will never work for the majority. The recent technological advances in communications, the Internet, cell phone, texting or sexting, women's empowerment and education that tend to surpass men's give rise to rigid individualism and heightened sense of privacy and entitlement. It is not uncommon for your husband to have married friends who talk about "low-impact hookups, fuck buddies and friends with benefits." They have long abandoned the expectation that all great relationships must be anchored on monogamy. They prefer to be in "partnered nonmonogamy" which stands for a relationship between two committed adults who embark on extramarital dalliances. If the 1970s had the swinging couples, our times have seen the rise of these couples. Couples are trespassing and going to the realm of infidelity.

Besides those who choose to be unfaithful to their partners, you will find a large group of people who ask all the reasonable and logical questions before they settle on some type of arrangements. They may reason that they do not want to lose what they had with the other partner. They do not want to wreck their kids' lives. They do not want to lose their business partners or lose money to contested custody battles and divorce proceedings. Many fertility doctors are recommending that women should not put off having children if they do not have to. OB/GYN specialists at Columbia University Medical Center, UCLA and elsewhere are advising single women in their thirties to try to have a baby on their own. If they can not have the baby, they may want to start making plans to adopt one. Waiting too long, you may run the risk of having to deal with declining fertility issues. Most of the specialists will tell you that a woman's fertility begins to decline in her late twenties.

In an age when more and more women are spending longer time getting educated, there is a tendency to wait far too long. It is good to have an education, but keep track of the clock. This is a book that Oprah will undoubtedly showcase on her show. She will probably recommend it to many of her readers. To say that it is written by a liberated Muslim woman does not diminish anything from its impact on women in the Middle East and the US. The premises are that Ms. Lootah wants to help muslim women get comfortable talking about and enjoying sex. Well, she is on a mission to change things for women in her country and elsewhere. She is not shy to talk or write about finding and experiencing orgasm. This book has been rocking the Muslim world these days. And she did all of that with specific quotes from the Koran! Now, do you think that most Muslim men would appreciate and encourage her work?

No. Not all of them want to hear about that. Some of them even go as far as threatening to kill her. Many of these guys may be hypocrite. In the book, the author warns against or confronts homosexuality because many men use other men for their sexual experience and expect to continue to receive the same acts from their spouse when they get married. No wonder Ms. Lootah has to counsel them when they are faced with divorce. According to Dubai's laws, couples contemplating divorce must first get some counseling to solve their marital issues. Ms. Lootah did not write the book for herself. "In Saudi Arabia and other countries where the genders are rigorously separated, many men have their first sexual experiences with other men, which affects their attitudes toward sex in marriage, Ms. Lootah said.

“Many men who had anal sex with men before marriage want the same thing with their wives, because they don’t know anything else,” Ms. Lootah said. “This is one reason we need sex education in our schools.”

She wrote for women who are not even sure whether they could kiss their partner all over their body. Now they have a book they can turn to. She gave the example of an older woman whose world was rocked when she discovered orgasm. She spent all of these years to procreate. She is now a grandmother who had never experienced sexual satisfaction with her husband. Ms. Lootah gave many other examples in the book.

Ms. Lootah is not some type of sexual activist. She is a marital counselor in Dubai's main courthouse. In her job, she has seen many couples battling intimacy issues. She realized that a lot of them are not educated in the matters of sex ed. Muslims should not limit their sexual pleasures. For that, she is a new evangelist in the Arab world. It is nothing new for many Muslim men who get this type of sexual favors from foreign women brought to the country because of the growing economy and oil revenues. In the age of the Internet, SMS, text message, twitter and other tech gadgets, it will be hard to keep these repressed Muslim women with a veil over their brain. Ms. Lootah wants to change the statut quo. She wants Muslim women to know about their G spot and make specific requests from their partners who may be surprised by such requests. It may be too much work for some of them.

Honor killings are still prevalent in the region. Women can not have sex before being married. If they engage in such activities, they can be stoned to death or hung. Men can also die if they take the virginity of a woman whom they do not want to marry. No wonder that both sexes have to cut corners! Kids Made-to-Order: Science Gone Awry
Bishop Sgreccia Points to Instinct of Manipulation

A Los Angeles-based fertility clinic offering would-be parents a child made-to-order -- complete with the desired skin tone or hair color -- is an example of science when it is not put at the service of the good, says Bishop Elio Sgreccia.
The retired president of the Pontifical Academy for Life spoke to Vatican Radio today about an offer from The Fertility Institutes, to give would-be parents the physical traits they want in their child -- green eyes, for example, or dark skin or blonde hair.
The process screens babies at the first stages of life -- applying technology already used to kill children for sex selection, or who have or could develop genetic defects -- and selects thos e embryos that meet the tastes of the buyer. The rest are eliminated. The price tag for the process is about $18,000. The Fertility Institutes claims to already have some half-dozen requests for the service.
Bishop Sgreccia said this "is not the first time that these kinds of announcements come up, which have the objective of increasing the number of clients. In any case, it is about an ethically mistaken operation, and one that wounds the dignity of the offspring, since it is oriented toward manipulating the body, dominating it and transforming it according to one's tastes."
The bishop said that just as it is illicit for a child that has or could develop defects to be eliminated by negative selection, "it is also illicit to make a selection that obeys only the wishes of the parents."
"This is a typical example of science that is not placed at the service of the good, but rather at the desires of those who buy its services; meanwhile t hose who pay the price in this case are the children," he lamented. "When a norm of creation that is so delicate is violated, the law should take interest in this field."
Bishop Sgreccia said the situation points to the "instinct of manipulation," an instinct that can be detected in the times of Nazism "to a certain degree, since they didn't know everything that is known today." This instinct to manipulate, he affirmed, "continued beyond the abolition of the totalitarian regimes."
"It could seem that it is a tendency proper to the thirst to dominate that political absolutism has always wanted to exercise over the life of people," he contended. "Unfortunately, this type of instinct to dominate exists in man, if it is not braked by morality and the law, and it survives even the regimens that are no longer totalitarian."
Now, Bishop Sgreccia said, these parties no longer obey a regimen that "wants bio-political results" but rather "the interests of those who have money and the whim to play with others' lives."

Fertility Booster No. 1: Weight Control

Whether or not you eat the so-called "fertility foods," maintaining a healthy weight is another way to enhance your fertility.

Studies show that having either a very low or very high BMI (body mass index) disrupts ovulation and may also affect production of key reproductive hormones.

"One of the first things I counsel women about is the role of their weight in influencing their fertility," says Janet Choi, MD, a reproductive endocrinologist at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.

For many women -- particularly those who are overweight -- problems are traced to ovulatory dysfunction, often caused by PCOS. That said, a recent Dutch study of some 3,000 women found excess weight could also interfere with fertility even if a woman is ovulating normally.

Reporting in the journal Human Reproduction, researchers documented a 4% decrease in conception odds for every point in BMI above 30. For women whose BMI was higher than 35, there was up to a 43% overall decrease in the ability to conceive.

The good news: Losing those extra pounds may preclude the need for pricey fertility treatments.

In fact, the British Fertility Society in 2007 issued new guidelines urging members to defer fertility treatments in very obese women (BMI over 35) until they gave weight loss a try.

At the same time, being too thin can also keep you from conceiving. "Women who are extremely lean often have a problem getting pregnant because they are not able to sustain a regular menstrual cycle -- for these women, it is more beneficial to gain weight," Chavarro says.

Fertility Booster No. 2: Reduce Stress

Although links between stress and infertility have been long debated, evidence continues to mount that the two are intertwined.

In studies conducted by Alice Domar, PhD, at Harvard's Mind-Body Institute, women who underwent stress reduction therapy saw dramatic increases in their ability to get pregnant. In fact, even women who were already undergoing fertility treatments had more successful outcomes when stress was kept under control.

More recently, research conducted at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh by Sarah Burga, MD, linked stress to a condition known as functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA). Affecting some 5% of women in their reproductive years, it causes irregular or absent menstrual cycles.

Choi says, "I don't advocate quitting your job just to get rid of stress, but if you can try to get better day-to-day management of your anxieties, I believe it can work in conjunction with other methods to encourage fertility."

What can you do to reduce fertility-related stresses? Experts say anything that makes you feel relaxed can help -- be it listening to music, doing yoga, getting regular massages, writing in a journal, reading, gardening -- even chatting on the phone with friends.

You can also think outside the box for some unique ways to reduce stress. One recent study published in the journal Psychological Science found the simple act of holding hands with your spouse can drop stress levels dramatically. Or you might try renting a stack of romantic comedy videos.

If you're tempted to handle your stress by smoking or drinking alcohol, experts say don't. Numerous studies have shown that smoking contributes to both male and female infertility and can even impair the outcome of fertility treatments. Fertility Booster No. 3: Acupuncture
Studies linking acupuncture to conception have by and large been conducted on women undergoing fertility treatments. Still, many experts are quick to point out that this ancient Chinese medical art may also work to help encourage fertility overall -- even for those couples trying to conceive naturally.

"I sometimes recommend acupuncture, in conjunction with stress reduction activities such as yoga, to help encourage pregnancy," Pollack says.

"I wouldn't advise a couple to rely only on acupuncture, or to try it without first getting a fertility workup, but if everything checks out OK, acupuncture can be helpful," she says.

Fertility Booster No. 4: Ovulation

While being intimate during the "right time of the month" won't do anything to increase your fertility, it can increase your chances of getting pregnant -- simply by ensuring you and your partner connect during the time conception is possible.

Timing is key, says Pollack, because "an egg only lives for 24 to 36 hours." But sperm can live in the lower portion of a woman's reproductive tract a lot longer -- often up to five days. So to increase your chances of conceiving you should be intimate with your partner beginning three to four days prior to ovulation, and continuing up to 24 hours after ovulation.

But how do you know when you're about to ovulate? Experts say there are several methods you can use to approximate.

Chart your basal body temperature (BBT): Your BBT, which is the lowest temperature your body reaches during the day, is affected by the hormones that influence ovulation. Just prior to egg release, your BBT drops about a half degree, then rises again after you ovulate. So by carefully monitoring and keeping track of your daily temperature for one or two months, Pollack says you will begin to see a pattern take shape. If you have intercourse during the days when your temperature drops, then there is a good chance you will be within your fertility window.
Chart your cervical mucus: Corresponding to changes in body temperature are changes in cervical mucus. Just prior to ovulation, the mucus will seem more copious, thinner, and more clear than on other days. You might even be able to pull it apart so that it looks somewhat like rubber cement -- a phenomenon known as "spinbarket." By checking your cervical mucus daily and coordinating its consistency with your BBT, you can further nail down your most fertile time.
Use an ovulation predictor kit (OPK): These over-the-counter kits, costing from $20 to $75 a month, check for the hormonal changes found in urine prior to ovulation. Some use a color-sensitive dipstick while newer OPKs have digital readouts that may be easier to interpret. OPKs can alert you to ovulation up to two days in advance. Once the OPK is positive, Pollack says, you would "have intercourse that day and every day for three days to help increase your chances of conception." Another device that may predict fertility is the "ferning" microscope, which can be used to detect changes in saliva that precede ovulation. However, experts say this approach may not be as reliable as an OPK.

There is a vibrant market here that can easily support these two competitors. The demographics explain it all. All the major stores are already here. How Much Time is Appropriate For Satisfactory Sex? How much Time is Enough to Get a Fertile Woman Pregnant?

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to read this piece of advice. Satisfactory sex does not take all night. If your co-workers are bragging about their sexual exploits or their all-nighter, this study conducted by the Pennsylvania State University will make them think twice. Satisfactory sexual intercourse for couples typically lasts only three to 13 minutes. That revelation tends to go against some of the claims by men and women who tend to brag around the water coolers. Keep in mind that this time does not include foreplay. It is all in the magic of what happens before you get to the actual act.

About 50 members of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research who have seen collectively thousands of patients over several decades were the respondents. So the study is backed by people who know what they are talking about. Two-thirds of them responded to the survey and rated a range of time lengths for sexual intercourse under the categories of "adequate," "desirable," "too short," or "too long."

How Long Should Intercourse Last?

What is too short? What is too long? What is adequate?

The group agreed that one to two minutes was too short. but adequate time was three to seven minutes, with the most desirable length of time for intercourse being seven to 13 minutes. Ten to 30 minutes was too long. So guys and gals, you have the recipe for satisfactory sexual intercourse. Now does it that long for pregnancy to occur?

Not all. One to 3 seconds is enough to cause pregnancy in a fertile woman.

How many disappointed men and women have there been all this time? Widely held beliefs, popular culture, and bragging rights maintained over centuries are the cause of such frustrations. How many relationships and marriages that have been destroyed by these faulty knowledge bases? Some past research also found that a large of percentage of men and women preferred sexual intercourse that lasted 30 minutes or more. No wonder that the situation for disappointment and dissatisfaction was always existing.

The results of this study will be published in the May issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, under the title, "How Long Should Intercourse Last?" The goal of this article is to dispel fantasies and encourage men and women with realistic data about acceptable sexual intercourse. Disappointments and dysfunctions will also be avoided.

Americans, Europeans and rich patients from other countries who want top-notch medical care on their own terms have recently found top Britain and US-educated Indian doctors. In fact, they are willing to fly all over the world to avoid the high costs of local medicine. If something is not done to address these galloping costs, India may have to treat most Europeans and Americans in the next few decades. Indian doctors who used to come to the States or Britain to practice won't have to go anywhere anymore. So far, they have been able to gain lots of experience in western hospitals. Once they decide to go back home to practice, they take all this experience with them. Now that they have charmed patients all over the world, these patients are willing to go to them. The words are already out. Indian doctors are good. According to a recent 60 Minutes report, India is not the only destination. Thailand and Singapore have also invested in top-notch hospitals catering to the needs and whims of value-seeking US and European patients.

So far, those who are seeking to have orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, infertility treatment and cardiology can head to India to find treatment. They are asking questions and making economic decisions. Most patients already know this for a fact. In most US, Australian, and British hospitals, you will find names of Indian doctors serving in various capacities. Fleeing high cost treatment in their native countries, patients are outsourcing to India, Singapore and Thailand. They get lots of satisfaction for a fraction of the cost.
