Most consumers look at megapixels first when buying a digital camera, but the sensor size actually is a more important factor. The sensor captures light through small photosites or pixels, and it’s the size of each pixel that determines the amount of light, color, noise, sharpness, and dynamic range. Even if a camera manufacturer is able to cram a high number of pixels onto a tiny sensor, a camera with a larger sensor will produce better images. Point-and-shoot cameras have the smallest sensors, although they have improved significantly in recent years. Mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras are a new generation of compact with considerably larger sensors than a point-and-shoot but without the bulk of a digital SLR. The largest sensors usually come in digital SLRs, which are bigger and heavier than compact cameras but produce the highest quality photos. Does sensor matters for landscape photography

The size of sensor that a camera has ultimately determines how much light it uses to create an image. In very simple terms, image sensors consist of millions of light-sensitive spots called photosites which are used to record information about what is seen through the lens.

The scene covered is wider in a full frame camera compared to a crop sensor camera for the same focal length. A medium format sensor or a large format sensor produces excellent images which not only cover more width and height but their colour reproduction, details captured etc. are far superior to what 35mm cameras do.

Larger sensor cameras are more expensive and heavier than smaller sensor cameras.

Larger format sensor images can be blown up to bigger size prints without loss of detail.

Exposure

What is that, what is the use of exposure, how it works ¿

Learning how exposure works will help you to take control of your camera and take better photos.
Aperture, shutter speed, ISO are the elements that combine to create an exposure.
As you’ll soon learn, these elements have an effect on more than just the exposure, causing alterations in depth of field, motion blur, and digital noise. Once you understand how each one works, you can start diving into manual mode and really take that control back from your camera.

Aperture

What is it, how does it work in camera¿

In the simple words- Aperture is ‘the opening in the lens.’
When you hit the shutter release button of your camera a hole opens up that allows your cameras image sensor to catch a glimpse of the scene you’re wanting to capture. The aperture that you set impacts the size of that hole. The larger the hole the more light that gets in – the smaller the hole the less light.

ISO

How to adjust ISO setting while photography.

ISO is the sensitivity of your sensor to light. The ISO setting you use depends on the amount of light in the scene you are photographing. The more light you have to work with the lower you can set your ISO.

As settings go, ISO is one of the key camera menù you need to learn.

In simple words

Smaller sensor= More noise

Larger sensor =Less noise

I take care of this too while writing screenplay. But, if screenplay demands a location such us Hospital or University, we may have to go there and ask permission saying that you are making low budget short-film. You have to convince people to get things done. For my 2nd short-film I needed a building under construction. Though work was in progress in that building, I convinced the builder that I wont disturb anyone and it is for a good cause. He obliged me without asking for money!

•Equipments

Video camera:

You can use any camera which records video such as DSLR camera, Handycam, point to shoot camera or iPhone camera! You may need tripod for most of the shots!

Cannon 700D or iPhone6s to iPhone7 will be better choice

Camera techniques:

For making trolley shots, you can place camera on trolley suitcase and can move suitcase! Or els you can use offices chairs as a moving trolley

You can place your camera with objects on a bike or car to make chasing scenes!

Use iPhone to take underwater shots. Place a full transparent small square glass over camera lens and tie it with iphone firmly. Also cover the phone by binding waterproof cover case.

Light arrangement:

I used thermocol and white cardboard with attached silver foil which reflects light smoothly over the objects. Also, you can use diy studio lights that you can carry in hand and focus on objects.

Live sound recording:

This can be done by placing iPhone in shirt pocket of the characters on screen with sound recording on. Later you can remove noise using Goldwave or Audacity.

This is the film which we made with almost zero cost!

The cameras built into iOS devices have gotten progressively better and more sophisticated as well as other smartphone users also But, how many of you are still dumbfounded when it comes to getting good night shots? Don’t feel bad if you’re in that camp, but I’ve got some tips that can help make your pics better.

Whether you want to shoot the stars or capture the mysterious, romantic, or magical feeling of a scene at night, there are tricks to the trade. Taking great pictures at night requires skill, accessories, and the right settings. That’s not always easy to do with the stock Camera app, so I’ve put together these tips to improve your iPhone night photography.

iPhone night photography takes some skill, practice, and the right tools

Keep it steady for stellar iPhone night photography!

The first and probably most important step is to keep your iPhone or iPad steady. At night, your camera needs longer exposure times to make the most of the available light. The only way you can do that without getting blurry pictures is to keep it steady. There are several ways you can do this.

Tuck your elbows against your ribs

This is the cheapest way to keep your shot steady. Tuck your elbows against your ribs, and hold your device in both hands. Make a triangle with your arms. You won’t be able to eliminate all shake, but this should take care of most of it.

Lean on a table

Here’s another option. Sit down at a picnic table or other surface. Prop your elbows on the table, and hold your iPhone in both hands. You’ll eliminate much more shake this way. You can also use a low wall, railing, windowsill, or any other solid surface. If you’re really creative, you can get hands-free by using books or stones to hold your iPhone in a steady and upright position.

Use a tripod

This is the best option. If you use a tripod, you’ll eliminate almost all of the shake, assuming you’ve got a good ’pod. I’d recommend the Boush 62-inch professional tripod. Of course, the iPhone doesn’t exactly have a tripod mount, so you’ll need one more thing. With the Accmor Tripod Mount Adapter, you’ll be able to attach your iPhone directly to your tripod.

For a more mobile-centric solution, Bryan Chaffin recently reviewed iKlip Grip Pro, a combination tripod and selfie stick.

Use a remote shutter release

Even with a tripod, you might get a bit of shake when you tap on your phone to release the shutter. Luckily, there are a couple of ways to minimize or prevent this, too.

• Use the volume buttons on your iPhone.

• Click the shutter with the volume buttons on your Apple Earpods or other headphones.

• Buy and use a remote Bluetooth shutter release. Muku Shuttr is a great choice.

Taking great photos with your iPhone is a lot easier than recording good quality video. You certainly can make good video with an iPhone filmmakers have created some great films with the device

but you need to approach it in the right way if you want to do it consistently, repeatably, and creatively

After all Camera is a Camera

When you’re shooting video with an iPhone it’s important to remember that the rules of filmmaking haven’t changed. If you use your iPhone properly, no one should even think that the footage came from a smartphone. Don’t neglect composition, framing, story and everything else that goes into a great short film, documentary, interview or whatever else you’re creating, just because you are using your phone instead of a larger camera. Instead, the simplicity of using an iPhone should allow you to spend more time focussing on the basics.

Important Techniques and Rules for cameraman/photographer/videographer

•The iPhone has limits as a camera; be aware of them.
• The only app really worth recording video with is FiLMiC Pro.
•Your iPhone needs support if you want to get stable footage. A monopod is perfect if you want to be able to move around. A tripod is better if you're looking for real stability.

• The iPhone can record time-lapses and slow motion video. Why not use them as establishing shots or cutaways in your films?

• Airplane mode: use it.
• One is none, and two is one. Backup your footage as soon as possible.

The iPhone won't always be the best, or even an appropriate, tool for the job. Don't be married to the idea of using it if something else you can use would be better. Don’t get too caught up on the idea of using your iPhone at the expense of everything else.  
Ultimately, the iPhone has its advantages and disadvantages but it is a capable, even uniquely capable, video camera for the money. If it’s the right camera for what you’re doing then great! Use it without hesitation. However, know the limits of the tool: if it isn’t the right camera, accept the limitations and don’t try to force it.

All you need to get started is a camera and a few accessories, a tripod, a microphone and a computer with an editing program. If you want to keep it even simpler, you can film and edit on an iPhone or iPad . Don’t spend too much on gear when you’re starting off: buy basic, buy used and hire anything you won’t be using regularly.
