MHW Diablos is a tough monster and commonly known as Horned Wyvern. Remember the “King of the Skies” and the Apex Monster in Ancient Forest — MHW Rathalos —? Well! Diablos is the Apex Monster in Wildspire Waste, though it eats only cacti!

MHW Diablos is also a one of the 2 Apex Monsters you’ve to defeat, before getting The First Wyverian’s mouth opened about Zorah Magdaros.

I’m sure you’ve had a rough time with MHW Diablos and that’s why you came here. No worries! Everybody had their rough time with this scary Horned Wyvern.

MHW Diablos Weakness

Monster Hunter World gives you a lot of useful tips inside the game, and they totally help you become a better hunter. As you collect Diablos Tracks, your Hunter’s Notes gets updated by Ecological Center with various Diablos tidbits.

Of course, you have to collect enough tracks to get ALL the MHW Diablos information.

But if you still haven’t reached that point, take a good look at below screenshots.

As of now I have hunted down 198 MHW Diablos and captured 52. And yeah like you, I too had trouble defeating it. Actually Diablos caused so much pain till I had nothing left to try under my sleeves at that moment, but not more than the Anjanath in the Ancient Forest.

Then with some SOS help I finally ended the Diablos story, and learned almost everything about this monster going to any Diablos SOS requests I saw.

Alrighty then, here is what’s shown for Diablos Weakness  under Diablos Physiology in Hunter’s Notes. Yep, we are going to find out how to exploit Diablos Weaknesses in a moment.

Diablos Weak Parts are …

1. Head
2. Front of Wings
3. Chest
4. BONUS: Mid-section of Tail
5. BONUS: Back

So you shouldn’t focus on the Diablos legs, horns or the end of Tail where you see the big ship-like part. But you know what, with a good weapon you can easily break the Twin Horns which gives Diablos rare rewards.

If you’re using Tenderizer Decorations to gain Weakness Exploit skill, then you really shouldn’t focus on any of the 3 parts above as well as the Back too.

I always target the Diablos Chest and Mid-section of Tail when I’m using Greatsword. Somehow if I have to face Diablos face and Horns, I’m doing Greatsword Charged Tackles which also can easily break horns and Stun the monster.

After going over 2,000 rampage Greatsword hunts, I started to use Heavy Bowgun and I’m like surprised about the damage caused by Piercing Ammo to the big guy, MHW Diablos.

Piercing Ammo do crazy piercing damage when you target the wings. It’s Too Awesome to keep watching!! See the fun it brings in the video above.

TIP: Be near one of the Pillars and then jump away when Diablos comes at you with its Charging Attack to stuck it for a few seconds. Watch how Diablos try harder to get the horns out when you do this, in the video.

If you’re a regular to GamesTunnel Live Streams, you know Mounting. Knock Out. Biggest Combo. is one of my favorite strategies for almost any monster. However, there is not much environmental support to perform a Mid-Air Attack in the first 2 areas.

In the first 2 areas, you can use Sliding to do Mid-Air attacks or get the Diablos to break one of the pillars in the Upper Layer.

Diablos Tail can be severed as usual with any other monsters, but you should focus on the Mid-section of the Tail, but not the Tail’s End like in Rathalos as the End is not a Weak Spot. For this effort, you’ll be rewarded with rare stuffs, but about that in a moment!

Diablos Elemental Weaknesses are …

1. Ice
2. Water
3. Dragon
4. Thunder

Like I said, I don’t change my favorite weapons just to get a bit of advantage over Elemental Damage if it’s not Behemoth or AT Monsters. So it’s up to you to decide whether you exploit Diablos Elemental Weakness.

But I don’t do the same thing with Ailment Weaknesses, because after I started using Heavy Bowgun, one thing I’m in love with is, Monster Ailments.

Diablos Ailment Weaknesses are …

1. Paralysis
2. Poison
3. Sleep
4. Blast
5. Stun

I mean Diablos Ailment weaknesses can stop the monster for a bit. If you love stopping, then using 2x Paralysis, 2x Sleep and 2x Traps to rape the monster suits you.

These days Sleep is my favorite as my Empress Cannon “Styx” has only Sleep Ammo support. Funny thing is, I can sleep the monster 4 times without resupply. Watch how I Sleep Bomb Sniping the poor Diablos in the video above

TIP: Screamer Pods can also stun the Diablos, when it’s coming at you with its Underground Burrowing & Pop attack. Just fire your Screamer Pod as soon as Diablos Tail goes under the sand, it’ll come out with a Boom Stun

While Screamer Pods do wonders to the big guy, irreplaceable Flash Pods can also distract the monster 13 times, if you wish.

MHW Diablos Location

Unlike other monsters such as Rathalos, poor Diablos cannot be found anywhere else other than Wildspire Waste. If you ever find a Diablos outside Wildspire Waste, that’s a captured one in Special Arena.

MHW Diablos Rewards

Armors, Weapons and Charms using Diablos parts or powers require various Diablos Rewards. As usual, there are 5 ways you can gain Diablos rewards,

1. By hunting Diablos.
2. By carving a slayed Diablos.
3. By breaking Diablos body parts.
4. By melding Diablos Blos Medulla at Elder Melder.
5. By purchasing at Argosy.

Fourth and Fifth options are only available for Hunters who have progressed further in the MHW Storyline, so your only option might be killing or capturing a Diablos.

There are 3 Diablos rare rewards,

• Majestic Horn
• Blos Medulla
• Diablos Marrow

How To Get Diablos Rare Rewards — Majestic Horn, Blos Medulla & Marrow?

Most of the MHW Diablos rewards are not that harder to get, for example it’s not harder like in MHW Rathalos. However, Majestic Horn and Blos Medulla is bit harder than Diablos Marrow as both of them available only in HR Diablos hunts.

Diablos Marrow can only be obtained by,

1. Carving a slayed Diablos in LR.
2. Quest Rewards for defeating or capturing a Diablos in LR.
3. Breaking the Diablos Back in LR.

This means if you use a weapon which you cannot attack Diablos Back, you’re missing one option to get a Diablos Marrow.

Diablos Blos Medulla can only be obtained by,

1. Carving a slayed Diablos in HR.
2. Quest Rewards for defeating or capturing a Diablos in HR.
3. Breaking the Diablos Back in HR.

Diablos Majestic Horn can only be obtained by,

1. Breaking the Diablos Horns in HR.

Well, there’s ONLY 1 way you can get a Diablos Majestic Horn and that too on High Rank. You can break both horns of Diablos to increase your chances of getting this Diablos rare reward.

And most people avoid targeting Diablos face or Horns due to massive range of attack with those parts. If you’re one of those avoiding hunters, then you’ll have a really hard time obtaining a Majestic Horn.

Greatsword Tackle works great to break Diablos Horns. And if you’re a Longsword guy, you have your super move which you can avoid any Monster Attack like it didn’t happen, that too without any Health Loss!

Some of these Rare Rewards no longer become rare once you have progressed through the story as both Argosy and Elder Melder options also become available. You could even ready Research Point or Wyverian Print payments too easily.

However, Majestic Horn has ONLY 1 way and that’s the only way, I’ve seen so far!

How To Beat Diablos in Monster Hunter World — #3 Strategies

If you’ve been here this far in GamesTunnel’s MHW Diablos Guide, you’re fully aware of,

• Diablos Weaknesses [Weak Parts, Weak Elements, Weak Ailments, Weak Pods]
• Diablos Nesting location
• Diablos Main Attacks list
• Diablos Rewards list and factors

Those Diablos tidbits alone can help you face this scary Horned Wyvern yourself, but here are 3 surefire strategies you can use to easily beat Diablos.

First MHW Diablos you meet in the A Horned Tyrant Below the Sand quest will be Low Rank, so much easier to takedown. This LR Diablos has 3500~ HP.

However, HR Diablos has 6000~ HP and varies by Investigation or Tempered Level. Then again HP increases by 2.5 if you SOS, or bring a team.

Quick Prepping Guide,

1. Upgrade your Armor to Max Level which gives you More Defense. (Max available for you)
2. Upgrade your chosen Weapon to Max Level which gives you More Attack or Damage per shot. (Max available for you)
3. Focus on using Better Skills Armor parts such as Maximum Might, Weakness Exploit, Attack, Critical Eye, Elementless and Guard. Of course, you can’t have all of them.
4. Don’t try to get any Defense, Health, Damage Reduction Skills with Armor.
5. Eat for Max Health with Attack & Defense Boost at the Camp’s Canteen before the hunt.
6. Don’t be GREEDY! Don’t get hit by watching Monster Moves and Animations.
7. Learn the Superman Dive Jump. Seriously!

Diablos Strategy #1 — Hit & Run

This is the very basic strategy everybody knows and uses, but easily forgets due to so much greed for satisfying combos. Most people assume time for a full-fledge Combo is every time you draw out the weapon.

But in reality, this world as well as the game world is NOT built for whole time satisfaction.

If it was, you wouldn’t fail, disappoint. Sooner you realize this, better you become with Hit & Run strategy.

You need to calculate the time it takes for you to sheath in and out your weapon, or you’ll get hit while you sheath out when you only have the time to roll or guard.

You need to be aware of all common Diablos moves and animations, or you’ll get hit so badly in a streak, plus a one final shot when you’re seeing Stars!

Diablos often does a Tail Swing after a Charging Attack, and if you’re far away it sometimes goes for a Underground Burrowing attack. This attack is how most new hunters get kicked, because their timing sucks when rolling.

If you’re using Greatsword, you can block the Undeground Burrowing attack. If it’s a Heavy Bow Gun with Shield custom Mods, you can block it. You can simply roll away at the right time, or do a Superman Dive Jump with perfect timing.

When To Attack Diablos …

In the Hit & Run strategy, you don’t focus on combos. Just 1-2 Hits and then Move away. In order to do this, you need to be aware of the Diablos Pattern.

1. Diablos scream as soon as it sees you for the first time as well as couple of times during a fight, you can avoid Scream Animation by timed rolling, Superman Dive Jump or Guarding. If you can do this while close to Diablos, you have a chance to Hit twice.
2. Then run to the same direction as Diablos when its doing the Charging Attack, but without getting hit. Place yourself under the Diablos Chest and attack twice.
3. Once you learn to roll safely when Diablos doing its Underground Burrowing attack, you can hit twice if you do it right.
4. You can stuck Diablos to Wildspire Pillars for like 3-seconds. You can again do 2 hits. There are 3-4 Wildspires you can use.
5. Greatsword hunters can Tackle every single Diablos attack, when timed properly to keep attacking.
6. Longsword hunters can master the Foresight Slash, super move letting you avoid any attack without any health loss.

Since I’m using Greatsword for most hunts, I Tackle each Diablos Charging Attack. Funny thing is, when it’s normal LR or HR Diablos, Horns break and the Diablos stops the Charging Attack like it hit a wall.

Of course, that requires a couple of Tackles or a few Charged Tackles.

While Hit & Run is a more safe approach, if you have a weapon which lets you mount the Diablos, go for it.

Diablos Strategy #2 — Mount. KnockOut. BIGGEST COMBO.

Everything I said in Hit & Run strategy applies to the 2nd Diablos Strategy, because the first one is a fundamental basic way of hunting every single monster in Monster Hunter World.

Mount. KnockOut. Biggest Combo. strategy is more advanced and also fun.

Each monster has a specific Damage Total for various body parts. Once you do enough damage to meet that number for a target body part, monster falls down — A KnockOut!

Then there are Staggers (Flinch) too. Similar to how Knockouts work, Staggering also happens with a specific Damage Total.

But instead of falling down, monster only goes a step back stopping whatever attack or animation it is doing.

In this strategy, we’re going to target all sorts of KnockOuts, Staggering, Stuns, Traps and Pods to do satisfying massive combos to Diablos in Monster Hunter World.

Mounting & Staying

Once you mount Diablos, target the Diablos Tail until the KnockOut happens. If you prefer, you can stop doing the final blow when the Diablos signals it’s ready for the KnockOut. As soon as Diablos gets back its Stamina, start attacking again.

You can do that like 3 times before Diablos KnockOut automatically. Then quickly position yourself near the Diablos Tail and do your BIGGEST COMBO.

With Greatsword, you often can do Normal Slash, Charged Slash Lv2 and True Charged Slash when Diablos is Knocked Out. Or You can do Normal Slash, Tackle and True Charged Slash.

Focus on Diablos Tail until its severed.

You can stay mounted longer with the earlier tip. Then you can mount a monster at least 2 times if you hunt faster, or 3 times for 10-min hunts. Leverage the Mounting and Mounted Time as many times as available.

Also don’t try to mount the monster as soon as you finish your BIGGEST COMBO. Instead deal more damage and then launch the 2nd mounting attempt.

Quick Hit & Run

Once Diablos is back up after having your delicious combo, it’ll most probably do a Charged Attack. If it’s a melee weapon, quickly position yourself below the Diablos Chest and do a 2-Hit & Run.

Or you can stop Diablos with a Flash Pod by inflicting a stun. Keep in mind, Flash Pod stuns can make Diablos do blind attacks. Most common attack when Flash Pod stunned is 2-Sided Ramming attack. So positioning yourself behind the Diablos will be good.

I am Podman!

Keep both Flash Pods and Screamer Pods near each other in the Item Bar as you need to switch between them quickly.

If Diablos goes for its Underground Burrowing attack, quickly switch to Screamer Pods and shoot it on the ground as soon as Diablos is completely underground.

You should be ALWAYS closer to Diablos when you use Screamer Pods, or the Attack Window is wasted. So run towards him or wait for him to come near you when shooting Screamer Pods. Timing is important once again.

You can use 13 Flash Pods and 13 Screamer Pods with 3 Flash Pods, 10 Flash Bugs, 3 Screamer Pods and 10 Screamer Sacs. That’s more than enough!

Screamer Sacs are needed to craft Screamer Pods, so be sure to hunt dozens of Nois — Flying small monsters above Northeast Camp(15) in Wildspire Waste.

Tail Gone. Next … Chest

As soon as the Diablos Tail is cut, your next focus is the Diablos Chest. With enough damage at this point, Diablos will KnockOut once again automatically because the body part Damage Total is met.

Honeypots For You

Next thing in the arsenal is Pitfall Traps. Unlike Shock Traps which gets broken if the Diablos burrows below it, Pitfall Traps work great for Diablos.

Similar to Pods, you can bring a total of 4 Traps. 1 Pitfall Trap, 1 Shock Trap and 2 Trap Tools + 2 Nets for crafting 2 more Pitfall Traps.

So as a quick summary of Mount. KnockOut. BIGGEST COMBO. strategy,

1. Start the hunt by mounting Diablos.
2. Stay mounted while attacking until the Diablos Knockout automatically — Not by your final blow.
3. Do your biggest combo quickly on Diablos Tail.
4. Use up to 13 Flash Pods to distract Diablos, then attack from behind.
5. Use up to 13 Screamer Pods to stuck half of Diablos within sand, then attack Chest from the front side.
6. Focus on Chest after cutting down Diablos Tail to automatically KnockOut Diablos.
7. Then use 4 Traps at the same time after Diablos free from each Trap, while dealing good damage.
8. Diablos might automatically KnockOut once again, if you deal heavy damage. If not go for 2nd, 3rd Mounting.

This strategy creates a LOT of windows to attack Diablos, assuming you leverage all these opportunities, Diablos should be done by the end of everything.

You can also capture the Diablos at 30% HP instead of killing, but that’s up to you to decide.

Diablos Strategy #3 — Sleep Bomb Sniping

Okay guys! This is my favorite strategy these days that I’m using for a lot of monsters.

But this requires a Wyvernsnipe Bowgun!

Bow takes a lot of arrows to sleep a monster. I haven’t played Light Bowgun yet, so I know Heavy Bowgun is great for sleeping monsters than Bow.

In fact, you can watch how I sleep HR Diablos in Wildspire Waste Expedition 4 times with a single item loadout in the video above.

First sleep comes with 3 shots of Sleep Ammo #2 always. I brought a total of 8 Sleep #2 ammo and 12 Sleep #1 ammo plus the Spare Shots coming with my Empress Cannon “Styx” Heavy Bowgun.

Out of the MHW weapons I’ve tried so far, HBG Snipe shot is the most powerful I’ve seen. It’s fast. It’s flexible, It recharges quickly. It pierces the monster and finally it explodes like HELL!

Watch how I One Shot KnockOut the mighty Behemoth. HBG Snipe shot is that powerful. Think how powerful it will be, if you were to use Trueshot Jewel twice with all other Attack buffs.

Things you need,

• Any Wyvernsnipe Bowgun with Sleep Ammo #1 and #2 as well as Piercing Ammo #1 support with good capacity.
• Up to 9 Mega Bombs.
• Having Cluster Bombs are good.
• Up to 4 Pitfall Traps.
• Up to 13 Screamer Pods.

Out of all 3 Diablos Strategies, Sleep Bomb Sniping is THE best. This is the Too Awesome strategy that will make you explode like MHW Diablos, but with Happiness!!

This time no Hit & Run, mostly.

You can use everything in Mount. KnockOut. BIGGEST COMBO. strategy with this one as preferred.

Here we go by being the Winner, already …

Initiate Sleep Mode

Equip your best Wyvernsnipe Bowgun with Sleep Ammo #1, #2 and Piercing Ammo #1, #2 support. Having a lower recoil at least for these 2 ammo types will make the fight faster.

Eat your meal at the camp and then visit the Diablos after selecting Sleep Ammo #2 in the ammo slot. Now fire 3-shots and it will sleep.

Quickly put 2 Mega Bombs exactly on top of the Diablos Chest. Load your Wyvernsnipe Special Ammo. Now position yourself couple of steps away from the Diablos Neck and shoot, so that the snipe shot goes through the Neck, Bombs, Chest and Tail.

What? N I N E Mega Bombs?

Now quickly craft 2 more Mega Bombs.

In case you still haven’t figured that out, we bring 9 Mega Bombs similar to how we brought 13 Screamer Pods. You can bring 2 Mega Bombs, 2 Barrel Bombs, 5 Barrels, 10 Devil’s Blight and 20 Gunpowder.

Like that you need to craft new Mega Bombs, Sleep Ammo as soon as possible.

Cluster Bombs Rain vs Special Snipe Shot

Once Diablos is back up and running, shoot 8 Sleep Ammo #2 or more if it’s Sleep Ammo #1. It’ll go back to sleep once again. But you wouldn’t have Special Snipe Shot charged. In this case, I put my 2 Mega Bombs on the same spot as earlier.

Then use Cluster Bombs rain. My HBG can rain up to 6 Cluster Bombs from Level #1, #2 and #3. Sometimes I get spare shots, so I often do 8-10 Cluster Bombs.

However, Diablos will wake up, scream and then try to do a Charged Attack before I finish my rain. To fix that, we use a Pitfall Trap right between me and Diablos. So even if Diablos do the Charged Attack or the Underground Burrowing attack, it’ll be ready for my rain.

It Still Happens, With What We Have

If for some reason your HBG doesn’t support Cluster Bombs. Then you can use Piercing Ammo till your Special Snipe Shot is recharged or use a Wyvernblast shot before placing a Pitfall Trap like I explained a moment ago.

As soon as the Diablos is trapped, you either rain all available Clusters WITHOUT reloading OR fire all available Piercing Ammo after positioning yourself left to Diablos Wings.

Yeah, that’s because Piercing Ammo hits through Diablos this wing to other wing doing crazy amount of damage. Don’t focus Chest or anything below as Piercing Shots only work better when it’s a topside part like top of Back, Tail or Wings.

Reload! Reload!

Now evade Diablos carefully while also reloading all our main ammo and crafting Mega Bombs, Pitfall Traps. In case you need more Sleep Ammo, bringing 10 Sleep Herbs would be useful.

You can stuck it on a Wildspire pillar, if you’re having a hard time reloading.

Now back to the fight. If you’re comfortable in using Screamer Pods, this is your chance to use all 13 Screamer Pods or less until your Special Snipe Shot is recharged, or till you’ve reloaded Piercing Ammo, Sleep Ammo and Cluster Bombs.

Sleep is Coming, Again …

Launch the 3rd Diablos Sleep and repeat the same process as earlier. Goal is to stuck the Diablos either by Sleep, Pitfall Trap, Wildspire Pillar or Screamer Pod. Don’t give any chance for Diablos to playaround.

TIP: You can drain the Monster’s Stamina by repeatedly attacking, Or making it run around with heavy moves. Lost Stamina monsters will move slow, drool saliva and weaker attacks.

MHW Diablos Armor

There are 2 Monster Hunter World Diablos armor types as as Low Rank and High Rank. As with all LR Armors, they are useless as soon as you defeat the Diablos first.

From that moment you get access to High Rank, so you should craft HR Armor since then.

Rarity #5 Armors start from High Rank monsters. MHW Diablos HR Armor has again 2 types as Diablos Alpha and Diablos Beta. Find more specific details about all 3 Diablos Armors in the table below.

MHW Astera Map

Astera is the base of operation of the Research Commission in the World. There are various places within Astera which you can get resources to aid in your hunting. Astera consists of following places,

Resource Center

Resource Center lets you register bounties, investigations, deliver items and more. You can earn Research Points, Armor Spheres, Wyverian Prints etc. as rewards in this place of Astera.

Smithy

Smithy is a place you visit very frequently in the beginning of the game as this place lets you use materials you collect during hunts to forge, upgrade, augment your equipment such as Weapons, Armor and Charms. You can also sell your old equipment for money at Smithy.

Botanical Research

Botanical Research is one of the three places I visit every gaming day for every 5 hunts. Because it lets you cultivate various items you need for ammo, bombs, boosts etc. I always cultivate Flash Bugs, Might Seeds, Adamant Seeds and a couple more I can’t live without. You can add fertilizer to cultivate your items in bigger quantities. Max you can add fertilizer is for 9 quests, that’s why I visit Botanical Research for every 5 hunts to refertilize.

Argosy

Argosy is another place I visit frequently to buy all the items he brings when he arrive. I have asked the Argosy to bring me 2x Consumable Items and 1x Material Items. You need to spend your Research Points to buy at Argosy.

Provisions Stockpile

If you’re a Gunner, Archer or Bomber, then you have to visit Provisions Stockpile frequently unless you love to go gathering. Of course, you have to pay Zenny to buy stuffs here. You also need to visit this place in case you need Astera Jerky, Cool Drink, Trap Tool and the most important ones — Powercharm and Armorcharm — letting you boost your Attack & Defense just carrying it in the Item Pouch.

Elder Melder

Elder Melder is a granny on top of the big pot, but it’s not that useful for me except for getting the one missing material for my equipment. I have used Elder Melder to get a couple of monster Gems.

Ecological Research

Ecological Research is the place that updates your Hunter’s Notes book to show Monster Weaknesses, HR-LR rewards and Monster Physiology data as you Level Up each monster’s Research Level by collecting tracks. Not a place I visit frequently. This place also gives you Special Investigations such as the Elder Dragon hunting quests initially.

Canteen

When I started MHW on PC release date, I used the Astera Canteen a couple of times. But after couple of quests I started using Camp’s Canteen to have meals cooked by my Handler almost all the time. In fact it’s a long way to reach Astera Canteen when I’m down near my favorite Astera Places.

Gathering Hub

Gathering Hub lets you meet other hunters when you’re playing online outside of quests, but they also need to visit Gathering Hub to meet them. Gathering Hub is a crazy useful place because it has its own Canteen and many of the above mentioned places exists within the Gathering Hub saving your time a lot. When I go there, I always eat before departing on a quest.

Other Astera Places

Other than the above important places, Quest Board and Item Box is the most frequent thing you access. You can set Decorations, change equipment and do lots more using Item Box. Then there are other places such as Armory selling crappy weapons, but very useful Mantles as a payment for delivering items.

MHW Ancient Forest Map

Even before you land on Astera, Ancient Forest is the one you get to know early in the game. Ancient Forest is also the home location of Astera. It’s a major part of the commonly visible Monster Hunter World map 5 locations. These commonly visible 5-locations are a reason why we say World is the island referred to in the Tale of The Five book.

As the name implies, Ancient Forest is a huge forest with 3 floors consisting various useful stuffs distributed among 17 Areas. It’s a big place as well as annoying since you to have to travel a lot when hunting.

I also found Rainbow bug in Ancient Forest which is an Achievement in the game.

Monster Hunter World Camp Locations — Ancient Forest

Knowing all MHW camp locations can save you a lot of time. It also increases your chances of getting better SOS support. There are 4 Ancient Forest Camps. Each campsite consists Item Box, Small Canteen, Palico spot and a Tent where you can change your equipment and items.

1. Southwest Camp (1) Ancient Forest

You access this first campsite early in the game when you fell out of sky. This Ancient Forest camp is in the Area #1 in the first floor and the only one setup automatically. This camp is the best place when hunting Great Jagras.

2. Northeast Camp (11) Ancient Forest

This is the 2nd campsite in the forest and I had a rough time finding this camp when the quest objective asked me to do that. But turns out Northeast Camp is in the Area #11 in the Northeast first floor. So this is the final Ancient Forest camp setup by the storyline. This is my favorite camp when I’m hunting on this location, but not the only one I use. And this camp is the one you need when hunting Tobi Kadachi, Rathalos and couple of other monsters depending on their location at the moment of you hunting.

3. Northwest Camp (8) Ancient Forest

Northwest Camp is a place you should find yourself to setup the camp. It’s in the Area #8 behind a tree hole in the first floor.

4. Ancient Forest Camp (17)

This is the hard one if you don’t know where to look as this camp is on the top. It’s in the third floor on the big tree in Area #17. Having this final camp makes it easier to hunt monsters such as Rathalos, Kushala Daora in Ancient Forest map.

Closest location to Ancient Forest Grymalkines Camp is the Area #17 camp. In order to access their camp, you need to chase a Grymalkine known as Bugtrappers to their camp. Actually it’s a beautiful place they have got. Look for yourself below!

Monster Hunter World Wildspire Waste Map

After you progress through a part of the MHW storyline, you get access to Wildspire Waste. It’s a big desert, but also has various plants and a big swamp and watery places including a waterfall. So the Wildspire Waste desert is the 2nd location you access. Similar to Ancient Forest map, Wildspire Waste also has 3 floors divided into 15 Areas.

You’ve got 4 Wildspire Waste camps making the life easier. Again having all camps will improve the support on your SOS requests.

1. Southwest Camp (1) Wildspire Waste

Similar to the first Ancient Forest camp, this one is automatically setup as you progress through the storyline when you first visit the Wildspire Waste looking for Zorah Magdaros stuffs. It’s in the Area #1 of Wildspire Waste map. This camp is closest to Rathian and Anjanath often.

2. Eastern Camp (11) Wildspire Waste

Eastern Camp is the second campsite you have to build as a part of the story similar to the 2nd camp in Ancient Forest. This camp is the closest to Jyuratodus and Barroth sometimes.

3. Central Camp (6) Wildspire Waste

Wildspire Waste’s Central Camp is a campsite you have to build yourself after finding it yourself.  Of course you have to deliver couple of materials to build all unlockable camps. This camp is the closest to Kulu YaKu as well as Barroth.

4. Northeast Camp (15) Wildspire Waste

This is my favorite camp just above the Diablos and Black Diablos nest. However finding this Northeast Camp is a bit tricky as there is only a hole to go inside and it’s not easily recognizable. Door is in the North of the Wildspire Waste where you find the biggest rocksand pillar — You’ll find a hole there. And yeah this camp is closest to Diablos, Black Diablos as well as Teostra investigations.

Monster Hunter World Grymalkines Location & Camp — Wildspire Waste

Grymalkines known as Protectors exists in Wildsspire Waste location and they have their own camp too. Funny thing is, Protectors’ camp is inside our own Northeast Camp (15). Once you enter this camp from the top floor hole, you’ll find a small space where you can find Wildspire Waste Grymalkines. They will ask you to capture 3 lost protectors with your Capture Net before becoming an ally.

MHW Coral Highlands Map

Next MHW location you get to visit as the story progresses further is, Coral Highlands. Well as the name says, it has lots of corals — Big and Small. Unlike Ancient Forest map or Wildspire Waste map, this one is much smaller and easy to travel mostly. Coral Highlands map has 3 floors divided into 15 areas and only 2 campsites.

Since Coral Highlands map is smaller, it only has 2 campsites. While there’s 2, I always use only one camp. Though there is only 2 camps, you can also use ropelifter to travel like you do in the Arena.

1. Southern Camp (1) Coral Highlands

As the usual pattern happens, Southern Camp (1) is created automatically when you first land on Coral Highlands with the Third Fleet airship. You can even see the airship attached to the ground near this camp. Tzitzi YaKu, Odogaron are closest to this camp.

2. Northeast Camp (12) Coral Highlands

This Northeast Camp in Coral Highlands needs to be found and built by you delivering a few materials. This is the only camp I use in Coral Highlands these days as it’s the closest to Legiana, Paolumu, Kirin, Pink Rathian as well as Odogaron and Tzitzi YaKu sometimes.

Monster Hunter World Grymalkines Location & Camp — Coral Highlands

Down below the Pink Rathian nest, I found Grymalkines known as Troupers on top of Shamos. They asked us to hunt 2 Tzitzi YaKu troubling them and once I did that, they invited me to their camp. Just like Bugtrappers Camp in Ancient Forest map, Troupers also built their camp on a beautiful place.

Monster Hunter World Rotten Vale Map

Fourth location you explore in Monster Hunter World is Rotten Vale with 3 floors and 16 areas. The darkness filled, ghosts traveling location in MHW. And yeah I don’t like Rotten Vale, because it’s actually rotten. It smells bad, air is acidic and the apex monster, Vaal Hazak drinks acid for all 3 meals. Rotten Vale air alone can suck up your life due to acid.

Similar to Coral Highlands, there are only 2 camps in Rotten Vale and it’s the smallest location in MHW.

People who have played Monster Hunter since the early days say, Rotten Vale is created from a dead Dalamadur bone. If Dalamadur is that big, I’m not sure if we can hunt it down alone. Maybe it’s the whole Commission thing just like Zorah Magdaros.

Monster Hunter World Camp Locations — Rotten Vale Camps

1. Southeast Camp (1) Rotten Vale

This is the first Rotten Vale camp, so built automatically when you landed from the Third Fleet Airship after scaring a Great Girros. This camp is closest to Radobaan and Great Girros.

2. Central Camp (11) Rotten Vale

Breaking the pattern, Central Camp (11) in Rotten Vale is built for you by the story itself, so nothing to find and setup here. It’s my favorite as it closer to Odogaron and Vaal Hazak nests as well as you can reach Great Girros and Radobaan faster climbing up or going through small holes or shortcuts.

Monster Hunter World Grymalkines Location & Camp — Rotten Vale

Inside the nest of Odogaron, you’ll find Lynian Researcher asking you to find Grymalkines in Rotten Vale and once you find a Grymalkines known as Plunderers in that same spot, you need to chase it to the cave near the Vaal Hazak nest. You’ll find 3 Plunderers afraid of you beyond the lake inside that cave. Your Palico will ask you to put some Raw Meat on the floor to lure Plunderes and then you guys become friends.

Since the Rotten Vale sucks, Plunderers’ Camp is also sucks. BUT the Palico equipment from Plunderers are totally useful as you can craft Armor or Weapons without actually defeating a specific monster.

Monster Hunter World Elder’s Recess Map

Out of all 5 MHW locations, Elder’s Recess is my favorite. Majority of my hunts happen on Elder’s Recess map as I love to hunt Nergigante and Behemoth. Look and feel of the Elder’s Recess is totally amazing. It’s also the home of Xenojiiva’s nest Confluence of Fate location. There are 2 floors and 16 areas in Elder’s Recess.

You can also get Gajalaka Shortcuts to travel between areas, if the Elder’s Recess Camps are not enough after befriending Gajalaka.

MHW Camp Locations — Elder’s Recess Camps

Again breaking the pattern, there are only 3 Elder’s Recess camps given for all hunters and each camp is more closer to monsters in Elder’s Recess than any other camp in the other locations.

1. Southern Camp (1) Elder’s Recess

As you may have figured out already, Southern Camp (1) is the first camp automatically built as you progress the story, when you first arrive to this new location with The Admiral. This camp is the closest to Dodogama, Uragaan and Behemoth.

2. Eastern Camp (8) Elder’s Recess

Eastern Camp should be found and built by yourself. It’s located near Kushala Daora and Bazelgeuse nests. It’s also closer to Uragaan nest a bit. This camp has a lake where you can fish.

3. Northwest Camp (16) Elder’s Recess

Holy cowabanga! This is my favorite camp in Elder’s Recess map, because it’s the closest to Nergigante, Teostra, Lunastra as well as Azure Rathalos. It’s also near the Gajalaka Camp and Behemoth’s final stage.

Monster Hunter World Gajalaka Settlement Location & Camp — Elder’s Recess

Once you find the camps of all Grymalkines and befriend with them, Lynian Researcher asks you to focus on Gajalaka. You need to find Gajalaka Doodles and then Lynian Researcher will ask you to come down below the Eastern Camp (8) at night to proceed with the operation. It can only be done at night as Gajalaka Settlement happens only at night. You can fast travel to Astera till its night.

Then you need to sneak past the dancing Gajalakas till you get inside through a Gajalaka Hole to their camp. This Gajalaka Camp is located near the Nergigante nest and you can travel through their camp to your Northwest Camp (16) by the small river.

MHW Confluence of Fates Map

Confluence of Fates is located just behind the HUGE crystals near the Rock Pillars of Kushala Daora nest. This location is not visible in your World Map and can only be access in the final boss monster, Xeno’jiiva hunt. Confluence of Fate is simply the nest of Xeno’jiiva.

It has 2 Floors with a bunch of Boulders on the first floor and ledges. Floor 2 has crystal pillars where you can walk just like in the center of Elder’s Recess. You and Xeno’jiiva can fall down in Floor 2, but will respawn in the same floor.

MHW Caverns of El Dorado Map

Just like Confluence of Fates, this one is also a special location only available during Kulve Taroth hunts. Caverns of El Dorado is the home of Kulve Taroth and Golden Gajalaka tribe.

Tale Of The Five — Story Time …

Once there was a world without time. The world was nothing but white light, inhabited only by people and five dragons.

In that world, there was only eternity, and a sun that burned without beginning or end. And because there was only timeless eternity, nothing was ever lost … yet nothing was ever gained.

One day, the people began to wonder why their world had no beginning or end, so they asked the dragons.

The dragons opened their mouths as if to answer, but from their mouths poured water instead of words. It rushed out in streams to create the sky and the oceans, and the dragons swam away. The dragons swam to the center of the ocean and there they began to transform into an island.

One dragon sank into the sea and became the land.

One dragon lifted its gaze to the sky and became the mountains.

One dragon stooped low and became the lakes, and scattered its scale to create the rain.

One dragon fell into a deep slumber and became the forests.

The last dragon climbed far into the sky to become a Star of Sapphire Blue, shining brightly above the island.

The people could not understand why the dragons had left, or why they had transformed. Eventually, a lone youth decided to go the island to seek the answers from the dragons themselves. He donned a simple cloak, climbed into a simple boat, and cast off alone into the murky seas.

At last, guided by the light of Sapphire Star, he reached the Island of The Five.

Some time passed, and the youth returned.

“Did you speak with the Dragons?” the people asked.

“Yes, I spoke with them,” he replied.

“Then tell us, why did they create the island?”

But the youth did not answer. Instead, he reached into his cloak and pulled out five Dragon Scales, which he gave to the people. And then, before anyone realized, the youth disappeared.

The people left their white world and sailed across the ocean.

Using the five scales, they created their own lands, their own mountains, their own lakes, and their own forests. Last of all they created a bright moon, so that the Sapphire Star, which had guided the youth during his voyage to seek the dragons, would no longer shines alone in the sky.

The land grew large enough to obscure the sun, and day and night were born.

The mountains, lakes and forests breathed together, and the seasons were born. The moon casts its light on the ocean, and waves were born.

And thus time was also born.

Swept up on the almighty current of time, the people came to know death. But the people also came to know life.

Countless days and countless nights have passed since people first came to live on the islands they had created. As time passed, they lost their memory of the Five Dragons, and even the memory of how Time itself had been born.

But deep in their hearts there dwelt a quite knowledge of the Island of The Five, the most sacred place in the world, which to this day sleeps in the middle of the ocean, uninhabited by people, and unchanged even by the relentless flow of time.

Housekeeper Knows It!

Your Housekeeper says various things about the Sapphire Star and the Tale of The Five book. Chamber of The Five which is located in the Gathering Hub cabin exists until you get access to the final Unlockable Room in Monster Hunter World. After that this Chamber of The Five is converted to your final Unlockable Room, Private Suite.

The Chamber of The Five holds a purr-ecious place in the hearts of Commission members, especially those of the First Fleet.

When times were tough, they would gaze up at that window with its depiction of the Tale of the Five until their hearts were soothed.

The chamber, the window, and the Tale of the Five itself… It’s all tied to our greatest symbol of hope – our Sapphire Star.

Housekeeper isn’t the only one nudging the Tale of The Five story. The Seeker says following,

When I decided to go after Xeno’jiiva alone, I felt like a certain voyager braving the dark sea in a tiny boat…

But was it the Sapphire Star I was following, or Xeno’jiiva?

…I’ll never know the answer to that, will I?

The Sapphire Star

According to the Tale of The Five book, The Sapphire Star is one of the five dragons who climbed far into the sky to become a star. It’s the same Sapphire Star’s light that guided the Youth in his voyage to cross the sea for Island of The Five.

After you finish the main storyline in Monster Hunter World, you come to know the secret behind Elder Crossing. The Sapphire Star is the final boss monster, Xeno’jiiva, because Xeno’jiiva is the one who guided the Elder Dragons from Old World to New World, which is the Island of The Five. New World also has 5 areas with mountains, lakes, forests etc. and the Xeno’jiiva’s nest is North in the Elder’s Recess.

Then there is another Sapphire Star in Astera, it’s YOU. Everybody calls you The Sappire Star once you beat the 3 Elder Dragons — Tempered Nergigante, Tempered Teostra, Tempered Kushala Daora — in “The Sapphire Star’s Guidance” optional quest. Because you’re the guidance to all hunters in Astera to become a Pro Hunter.

The Argosy is currently in Port in Astera. You can obtain numerous items and materials from the Argosy captain that you can’t get anywhere else, and his stock changes every time he calls into Port.

Monster Hunter World General Tips

Building New Camps

If you discover an area that can be made into a Camp, you can visit the Resource Center to set it up. Check out our MHW Camp locations guide here.

Restoring Health

You can restore health by using potions. If you have some Honey, you can combine it with a Potion to make a Mega Potion, which restores even more health.

Stamina

Dashing, evading, and performing certain action will deplete your stamina. Your maximum Stamina will also decrease over time, but it can be maintained by eating Well-done Steaks or Rations.

Crouching & Camouflage

Press the dodge button while standing still to crouch. Crouching in brush grants you camouflage so you can hide from monsters.

Sharpness

Close-range weapons such as Greatsword gradually lose sharpness with each attack. As a weapon’s sharpness falls, its attacks are more likely to be deflected, but you can restore its sharpness with Whetstones as well as Whetfish Fins.

Health Drinks

To increase your maximum health, drink Nutrients or Max Potions which can be obtained by crafting.

Max Potions

These powerful Potions not only completely restore your health, but also restore your Max Health to its limit 150. Max Potions can be crafted by combining Mandragora with Mega Nutrients.

Scoutflies

Scoutflies respond automatically  to Monster Traces and many other substances in the environment. If you feel lost in a new locale, follow your scoutflies to discover points of interest as you grow accustomed to your surroundings.

Tracking With Scoutflies

Once you’ve examined a certain amount of a monster’s tracks, your scoutflies will begin to detect more of them. Continue discovering more of them and your scoutflies will be able to guide you to the monster’s location.

Gajalaka

Though some tribes of Gajalaka (ones with the Green Marker) are friendly towards hunters, most are aggressive, so be careful.

Hunting Tips

Preparing for a Hunt

Prepare yourself for quests by carefully considering the best armor, skills Palico Gadgets, and weapon elemental for the job at hand. Not required for most hunts, but comes handy when it’s an Arch-tempered monster or you want to finish the fight quickly. Remember that you can also change your loadout at camp.

Monster Parts

There are soft parts of monsters that are weak to attacks, just as there are tougher, more resistant parts. Identifying a monster’s weak parts is the key to becoming a successful hunter.

Elements

There are five elements,

• Fire
• Thunder
• Water
• Ice
• Dragon

Take advantage of a monster’s Elemental Weaknesses to deal extra damage to it.

Monster Hunter World Mounting Monsters

You can mount monsters by striking them with attack is Mid-Air. Once mounted, if you avoid getting thrown off the monster while you continue to damage it, you can knock it down. You can move to another part when the screen becomes red to avoid thrown off instead of grabbing to quickly knock it down.

Mounting Controls

Once you’ve mounted a monster, press Ctrl key when the monster trashes about to hold on, Or LS to avoid certain attacks. Be careful: You’ll automatically fall off if your stamina runs out.

Know Your Environment

There are myriad Endemic Creatures (Flashbugs, Wedge beetles etc.) and points of interest (Vine Traps, Ledges etc.) in the environment that will help you on hunts. You can see where and what they are by checking the map.

Monster Clashes

When large monsters encounter each other, they may end up attacking one another. Take advantage of these situations to turn the hunt to your favor. While this is cool, Turf Wars in AT monsters are there to scare you so badly

Breaking Monster Parts

Focusing your attacks on specific body parts may break them, weakening the monster and sometimes limiting its mobility or attacks. However, when the monster is on Rage Mode, these breakings often mean nothing. There are also materials that can only be gained by breaking certain parts such as Tail.

Using the Environment

Observe your surroundings carefully. The environment is filled with ledges to jump off, walls to climb and slopes to slide down.

Wedge Beetles

Wedge Beetles can be found in many different places. Fix your aiming reticle 0n (Basically press V) one and Right-click in mouse to hook on to it and swing across like Spiderman.

Carving Materials

Slaying a monster allows you to carve materials from its carcass. You can use these materials at the Smithy to forge or upgrade Weapons and Armor.

Gathering Points

You can get materials by carving monster carcasses, and also by collecting them from Gathering Points such as Mining Outcrops and Bonepiles.

Upgrading Weapons

You can improve your weapons by upgrading them at Smithy using the materials you collect on hunts.

The Training Area

You can test any of the 14 different weapon types in the Training Area. To travel to Training Area, speak with the housekeeper in your room.

Armor Skills

Armor is imbued with skills that carry positive effects and boost your attributes. Choose Armor with skills that best complement your choice of weapon or play style.

Investigations

Investigations have different completion conditions than average quests, but they also offer better Rewards.

Armor Spheres

You can upgrade your Armor using Armor Spheres. Armor Spheres can be obtained as quest rewards or by completing Bounties at the Resource Center.

The Botanical Research Center

The Botanical Research Center allows you to cultivate various items. Additionally, you can increase the amount of items cultivated by applying fertilizer.

Tempered Monsters

You may find traces of especially fierce monsters — called Tempered Monsters — while on High Rank expeditions. If you collect enough of these traces, you may receive new Investigation quests.

Traps and Elder Dragons

Traps, like Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps, have no effect on Elder Dragons. These beasts cannot be captured.

Automatic Material Storage

Materials you gather on quests or expeditions are automatically sent from your Item Pouch to your Item Box upon your return.

The Intrepid Field Researchers

There are Researchers within the Commission that brave the various locales to study a variety of subjects besides monsters. Find them out in the field and speak with them to learn useful tips.

Info-gathering in Astera

Astera is replete with knowledgeable members of the Commission, from Hunters and Handlers to Researchers and Engineers. Speak with as many as people possible  to learn valuable information for your adventure.

Camera Types

You can choose between Camera Types in the options. FOCUS: Always fixed to the target. TARGET: Fixes to the target when you press the button. From my experience this seems to be sucks.

You can change various Camera Settings in the Start Menu.

Multiplayer

Up to 4 Players can participate in quests. If you’re having trouble hunting alone, take some friends along with you!

SOS Flares

During a quest, you can access the menu to send an SOS Flare when you’re playing online. This will put out a call to other hunters to help you with your quest. This is useful if you find yourself lacking the numbers to accomplish a difficult quest.

Hunter Rank

Completing quests will increase your Hunter Rank. As your Hunter Rank increases, you’ll be able to take on more difficult quests. Other than that, there is no any other benefit to having 999 HR or any HR after 50.

Fast Travel

You can Fast Travel to camp by selecting it from the Wildlife Map (Press M), but be careful: You cannot Fast Travel while in combat or when a monster has been alerted to your presence. You can hide in a brush and then do this once the Mini Map turns to White from Red.

Damage Reduction

It’s not all about your Armor or Defense stat — the weapon type you equip will change the amount of damage you take.

• Close-range Weapons → Reduce physical damage
• Long-range Weapons → Reduce elemental damage

You can keep track of where the Field Researchers are by checking “Field Researchers” on the World Map.

Increasing your resistances to elements reduces the effects of their blights and abnormal statuses, and may even negate them entirely.

Very rarely, you might obtain an item after investigating monster tracks. I have had these rare chances and even got Wyvern Gems too.

Monster Hunter World Kulve Taroth Tips

Objective of the Kulve Taroth Siege

The objective of the siege is to severe the Kulve Taroth’s horns. But first you must break the Gold plating covering them. The siege is considered a success once one person in the Celestial Pursuit manages to completely severe Kulve Taroth’s horns.

Kulve Taroth Weakness

Attacking Kulve Taroth with Fire Element weapons is the best strategy to weaken its metallic plating. Effective elements change during the course of the siege, so be sure to experiment.

Once Kulve Taroth is cornered, Thunder Element weapons are good. At the final fight after losing its big golden tail, Ice Element weapons are the best.

The Golden Tribe

A strange Golden Tribe — like Gajalaka, but with gold — lives within the Caverns of El Dorado, and may carry some useful items. If you attack their golden crystalline armor, they may run away from you.

Kulve Taroth’s Fury

If you can destroy the Golden Parts of Kulve Taroth a certain number of times before reaching Area 4, you’ll incite Kulve Taroth’s fury. The key is to destroy as many parts as possible in one pass before she retreats. Mega Bombs, Sleeping and Knockouts can help with this.

Inciting Kulve Taroth’s Fury

All hunters in the Celestial Pursuit will receive the same benefits when the Pursuit or Reward levels are increased. Team Up with other hunters to track down Kulve Taroth.

Arch-tempered Kulve Taroth Siege

A golden white Kulve Taroth has been spotted in the Caverns of El Dorado! It is believed that its new form is related to the destruction of the monster’s previous gold plating. Proceed with caution as this Kulve Taroth is exhibiting wild behaviors like that of an Arch-tempered monster!

Arch-tempered Kulve Taroth’s Gold can produce never before seen weapons. If you incite here fury before repelling her, you stand a chance of getting incredible rewards.

Monster Hunter World Behemoth Tips

Getting the Behemoth’s Attention

A hunter with a weapon designed for blocking should attack the Behemoth’s head to get its attention. Actually you don’t need that as you can simply go circles without getting hit by also using Superman Dive jump. I’m doing this all the time when I use Dual Blades, and yep I also have Earplugs Level 5.

When the Behemoth goes on a rampage and his head is hard to attack, use a weapon with Paralysis properties or mount the beast to create an opening. Or you can use Sticky Ammo, Slicing Ammo for the head just before doing a sweet  Sniper shot through the head. This can get you a knockout as well as the attention. You can also use Dragon Pods too for getting attention.

Dropping the Behemoth’s Health

When another hunter has the Behemoth’s attention, that’s the cue for the rest of the team to go full on the offensive. Use weapons with Water Element or Ammo for best results. Actually I have never used Water Element weapons. I’m using Blast and Dragon weapons or Elementless for Behemoth mostly.

Items and Weapons

Even for an experienced hunter, slaying a Behemoth is no easy task. Head back to camp for stock up on items or even to change your weapon if you need to change strategies. Sometimes I start with Heavy Bow Gun with Sniper Ammo and then switch to Blast Dual Blades.

Breaking Parts

Breaking parts off a Behemoth can turn the battle to your favor. You may be able to change its course, or his attacks may become weaker once certain parts are broken. Severing the Behemoth Tail is very important as his rotating attack sucks.

Utilizing Skills

One slip-up against a Behemoth can spell disaster for you and your team. Use armor skills such as Health Boost, or food skills like Felyne Moxie or Felyne Insurance. Spending Armor Skills or slots to get Health Boost is not recommended since you can get Max Health with food or using Max Potions. Then the 2 Food Skills are totally recommended while you can only be certain about Felyne Moxie as the Felyne Insurance is a Daily Skill that keeps rotating.

Supporting Teammates

The Behemoth’s attacks are so damaging that you absolutely need to help out your teammates. This is a bit funny because AT Nergigante’s attacks are on another level compared to Behemoth. Anyway, use Lifepowder, Demon Powder and the Wide-Range skill to keep your team topped off.

I’m using Wide-Range skill Level #1 as my usual decoration in the Armor, and I only use freely given Health Potions on the Quest Item Box unless it’s a surefire winning match against a hard monster.

Utilizing Comet

Ecliptic Meteor impact zone is HUGE!! Making escape from it is almost impossible. You are guaranteed to faint if you’re caught in the impact, so use the Comet Meteorites that fall before the Ecliptic Meteor as a shield. Farcaster or Fast Travel is not available. You can’t even use Whetstone.

If you’re step or 2 away from the Comet, you may survive the Ecliptic Meteor with a Superman Dive Jump to the back of the Comet — Not front. I have done this once and everyone thought I’ll die. It was a surprise for even me …

And if somebody placed the comet in the middle of the big meteor, then as it lands try to see the Shadow of the comet and that’s the side you should be.

Charybdis

Behemoth’s Charybdis summons a tornado where a targeted hunter is standing, and stays in the area for a period of time. If you’re being targeted, move to an area where it won’t be an obstacle to your hunt.

You can also stop Charybdis using Flash Pods. And if you get stuck or thrown inside a tornado, don’t wait as you’ll get hit again if you do nothing. Prepare to press space to perform multiple Superman Dive Jumps which will save you from losing any health. Timing is important for this special crazy jump

Useful Functions

Voice Chat

Hold 1 and 2 and press Esc at the same time to see a list of the members in your Voice Chat.

Auto Crafting

Auto-crafting will automatically craft an item from your crafting list as soon as you have the items required to craft it. Press SPACE to select the items you’d like to enable auto-crafting for.

Accepting Guild Cards

You can receive Guild Cards you’ve received by selecting Guild Card from the Start Menu. Note that you can only hold up to 20 unaccepted Guild Cards and up to 100 accepted Guild Cards.

Challenge Quest Records

Your comp0letion time for a Challenge Quest is recorded along with the date and time, displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Guild Card Restrictions

You cannot check or edit your Guild Card during a quest or expedition, but you can still send it to others. Same applies for viewing received Guild Cards during the quest.

Eating Meals at the Canteen

The Canteen is a facility where you can eat meals that boost your Health, Stamina and other stats — Attack Boost, Defense Boost & Elemental Resistance Boost. Meals also grant you the benefits of Food Skills.

Meal Effect Duration

Meal effects will wear off if you faint during a quest or expedition. They will also wears off  once you complete, fail or withdraw from a quest or expeditions. After eating a meal you’ll be unable to eat for a short period of time.

Oven Roasting

You can request the Handler to oven roast various items for you at the Canteen. It takes sometimes for the items to finish roasting, but once they’re done you can claim them from the Canteen or directly from the Handler.

Meal Vouchers

Vouchers let you eat a Meal for Free. Though each Voucher can only be used once, it also gives certain menu bonuses to the quest members in your hub. Actually for everyone in the session gets the Free Meal with 3-Star Food Skills availability.

Ecological Research

After gaining certain amounts of Research Points, you can visit the Ecological Research Center to increase Research Level. You can obtain valuable information about monsters, which is added to your field guide — Hunter’s Notes.

Monster Research

By collecting monster traces and increasing your Research Level, you’ll learn more detailed ecological information about monsters, such as their weaknesses. Your scoutflies will also be able to better detect monsters that you have researched thoroughly.

The Resource Center

Bounty Updates

The list of registrable bounties is updated whenever you return from a quest or expedition. Once you have registered bounties, you can review their details from the Start Menu.

Bounty Rewards

Once you’ve completed a bounty, you can visit the Resource Center to collect the rewards, which are often Armor Spheres and Research Points. You can also gain Wyverian Prints which are useful at Elder Melder.

Limited Bounties

A limited bounty is a special bounty periodically made available for download worldwide, but only for a limited period of time. Be sure to complete limited bounties while they are still available, as each one is replaced by the one following it.

Botanical Research

Cultivating Items

At the Botanical Research Center, you can handover items such as plants, fungi, bugs, honey, and so on to cultivate more of the same kind of item. Each item takes a specified amount of time to cultivated before it can be harvested.

Fertilizers

You can spend Research Points to use Fertilizers at the Botanical Research Center. Fertilizers increase the amount of items obtained from each harvest or can be used to shorten the cultivation time.

MHW Tailraider Safaris

Deploying Tailraider Safaris

You can deploy Tailraiders and other players’ Palicoes on expeditionary safaris, where they will collect items & materials and unlock investigations for you. Safaris cost Research Points to deploy.

Tailraider Safari Members

The members of each Tailraider Safari can be chosen from the Palicoes of hunters you have exchanged Guild Cards with. The higher the Palicoes’ levels, the better the rewards you can expect upon their return.

Deployment Routes

When selecting a route for your Tailraider Safari, you may see some routes marked with additional symbols. These routes offer a higher chance of better rewards.

Collecting Safari Rewards

Tailraider Safaris take time to complete, so you’ll have take on quests or expeditions while they are underway. You can also collect rewards while a Safari is still ongoing, or cancel an ongoing Safari.

Melding Items

Melding allows you create high-tier consumables, Bowgun ammo, and more by converting less valuable items into melding points. Compared to crafting, melding gives you more choice when it comes to picking which items to convert.

MHW Argosy Tips

Trading with the Argosy

The Argosy is a trading ship that sporadically calls into port in Astera and offers special items sets for sale. The item sets change every time the Argosy visits, and they may contain rare items available nowhere else.

The Argosy Sets Sail

The Argosy only remains in port for a limited time. After 3 quests Argosy goes and after another 3 quests Argosy comes back with new item sets.

Greatsword

The Greatsword has a long reach and powerful attacks. Because its sheer weight limits the speed of your movement and attacks, it lends itself well to Hit-and-Run combat tactics

Longsword

The Longsword enables fast, fluid movement and combos, but it cannot be used for guard.

Sword & Shield

Lightweight and easy to use, the Sword & Shield also boasts outstanding attack speed. The shield can be used to guard, though it may not hold up to certain attacks.

Dual Blades

Use Dual Blades to unleash a whirlwind of combo attacks on your enemy. Though they’re lightweight and relatively simple to use, they cannot be used to guard.

Hammer

The Hammer is a powerful blunt weapon with a surprising amount of mobility. It’s also possible to stun monsters by delivering a Hammer attack to the head.

Hunting Horn

The Hunting Horn is a blunt weapon that can bestow positive status effects on yourself and your allies. Use it to perform melodies that can boost Attack power, Restore health, and grant other beneficial effects.

Lance

The Lance is better at guarding than any other weapon. In addition to its long reach, its thrust attacks can be executed with little exposure to enemy attacks. Great for Defense-oriented combat.

Gunlance

The Gunlance offers more offensive power than the Lance thanks to the adding of Shelling Attacks, and it also has good Guarding capabilities. It may take time to master.

Switch Axe

The Switch Axe morphs between Axe and Sword modes. Axe mode boasts power and long reach, while Sword mode features fast attacks and explosive finishers.

Charge Blade

Sword mode boasts mobility and high guard capabilities, while Axe mode boasts more powerful attacks. Store up energy while in Sword mode, and then use to deal high damage in Axe mode.

Insect Glaive

The Insect Glaive can be used to control a Kinsect, a small insect that harvests extracts from monsters to boost your abilities. The Insect Glaive also allows you to vault, so you can perform jumping attacks anytime.

Bowgun

The Bowgun can be used to attack monsters from long-range. There are 2 types of Bowgun: the Heavy Bowgun, which can use powerful ammo, and the Light Bowgun, which allows for greater mobility and evasive capabilities , and faster shooting.

Bow

The Bow is a mid-range weapon that can perform a variety of attacks. Its charged shots can deal significant damage when aimed at a monster’s weak points.

Charged Slash

Release the button at just the right time to unleash the full potential of the Charged Slash. Learn the proper timing by carefully watching your hunter’s movement and paying attention to the controller’s vibration, if you use a controller.

Tackle

A resilient attack that prevents any Knockbacks. Time it according to the monster’s attacks, and you can continue your combos uninterrupted. You can also use Greatsword Tackle to stop animations for monster screams and tremors.

Leaping Wide Slash

Because this attack deals more Elemental and Status-inflicting damage than others, it’s most useful when paired with strong Elemental Greatswords. It can also be used to change your position sometimes.

Spirit Roundslash

Landing a Spirit Roundslash on a monster will increase your Spirit Gauge by one level, increasing your Attack Power. Your Attack can be boosted up to 3 levels.

Spirit Thrust

A high-powered attack that consumes one level of the Spirit Gauge to execute. It deals most damage when the Spirit Gauge is red.

Foresight Slash

Foresight Slash allows you to dodge an enemy attack and deliver and immediate counterattack. It can also be chained into a Spirit Blade. This is the super move that lets you avoid any and all monster attacks with no health loss.

Actions with Weapon Drawn

If you use the Sword & Shield, you can still use items or your Slinger while your weapon is drawn.

Use item: Hold Ctrl or V and press E.

Use slinger: Hold V and press Ctrl.

Advancing Slash

The Advancing Slash can be chained into various different actions depending on the type of terrain (ledges, slopes etc.) you perform it on.

Elemental Swords

The Sword & Shield’s fast attack speed can make up for its relatively low Attack Power, especially if you combine it with a Sword that has Elemental Attacks that target your enemy’s weakness.

Monster Hunter World Dual Blade Tips

Demon Dodge

You can perform a MidAir Spinning Blade Dance after jumping off a ledge with a Demon Dodge.

Archdemon Mode

You can enter Archdemon Mode by landing attacks while in Demom Mode and maxing out the Demon Gauge. There are some special attacks that only available in this mode. For example, you can do a rotating a blade dance moving forward even while your weapon is not drawn out.

Heavenly Blade Dance

Heavenly Blade Dance is an impressive flurry of slashes that carves a path down the full length of a monster. This one is my favorite every time there is a slope, ledge or a wall. You can cutoff Behemoth’s tail after 3-4 runs with this attack.

Monster Hunter World Hammer Tips

Power Charge

You can perform a Power Charge to boost your Attack power and some charged attacks. The effect persists until you put away your hammer or take damage.

Stunning Monsters

Stuns can be achieved more easily by hitting monsters’ heads with Charged Upswings or Charged Brutal Upswings.

Charged Slide

Release Ctrl during a Charged Slideto perform Aerial Spins, or chain the Charged Slide into other moves by pressing attack buttons.

Advanced Performance Techniques

You can perform your stocked melodies in order by pressing Ctrl. You can also press Ctrl + another Attack button at the same time to start your performance from the second or third stocked melody.

Using Performances to Attack

The initial shockwave created by the Hunting Horn Performance has high Attack and Stunning power, making the move completely viable as an attack in its own right. You can also chain a normal attack into a Performance, and then cancel the Performance with a dodge roll.

Performance Effect Radius

You can tell if a party member is within range of your Performance effects by looking at the icon next to their name.

Power Guard

Power Guard greatly diminishes pushback during a guard reaction. It also enables you to perform a quicker counterattack which you can chain further into an attack in any direction.

Dash Stepping & Guard Dashing

By combining Dash Steps with Guard Dashing, you should be able to stick close enough to a monster to maintain your offensive.

Dash Attacks

During a Dash Attack, you can also perform other actions like sidesteps, 180-degree turns, jumps and guards.

Shelling

Shelling is unique in that it can deal fixed damage to a monster’s parts regardless of their resistances. However, it also consumes a large part of the Sharpness Gauge, so can’t be used when the Sharpness is in Red.

Wyrmstake Shot cannot be reloaded with a Quick Reload. It must be reloaded normally.

Types of Shelling Attacks

Gunlances possess one of three different types of shelling attack. The attacks differ in Power, Ammo capacity and range. be careful in choosing your Gunlance, as each type requires a slightly different play style.

Switch Gauge

Attacking in Sword Mode consumes the Switch Gauge. Switching from Sword Mode to Axe Mode refills a small amount of the gauge. The gauge will also refill automatically over time.

Sword Mode Attacks

Attacks in Sword Mode utilize the effects of the Switch Axe’s phial, making them much harder to deflect. This makes the Sword Mode useful for targeting tough body parts.

Amped State

Land enough attacks on a monster while in Sword Mode to enter an Amped State, which increases your Attack Power. The number of hits it take to enter Amped State depends on the type of Switch Axe phial.

Sword: Condensed Element Slash

By chaining a Charge into a Condensed Element Slash while Element Boost is active, your attacks in Sword Mode will also temporarily benefit from phial effects.

Some High Rank weapons contain Hidden Elements such as Fire in Wyvern Ignition Impact Greatsword. You can unlock a weapon’s hidden element by equipping it while the Free Element or Ammo Up skill is activated. Awakening Charm can be used to activate it by 66%.

MHW Skills & Decorations Tips

Stacking Skill Effects

By equipping Armor or Charms with the same skills, you can power up the effects of certain skills.

Equipment Slots

Some equipment made from High Rank materials contain slots, which can be filled with MHW decorations that activate skills.

Obtaining Decorations

You can acquire Appraisal Items from High Rank quests . After you appraise these items, you can use them as decorations. Attach decorations to your equipment slots to activate special skills.

Slot Level

Decorations can only be inserted into Slots of the same level or higher.

Setting Decorations

You can attach or remove decorations at the Smithy or the Item Box.

Monster Hunter World Slinger Tips

Slinger Ammo

Slinger ammo must be collected out in the field. Though there are many types of ammo, you can only carry one type at a time. Picking up another type of ammo will discard the current ammo.

Stones

Stones can be picked up and used as Slinger Ammo. Though they don’t deal much damage, you can use them to hit faraway plants, barrel bombs or boulders.

Brightmoss

Brightmoss can be equipped as Slinger Ammo and can be fired at walls or other objects to illuminate the area. You can also shoot it at the heads of Flying Wyverns to make them fall out of the air.

Redpits

Redpits can be picked up and used as Slinger Ammo. Same as Stones they don’t do much damage, but they can add a small stun effect when hit at heads of the monsters.

Scatternuts

Scatternuts can be picked up after falling them off of trees using stone or Redpits. When they hit something, they break apart, emitting a loud noise and small shockwaves that can stun monsters.

Slinger Torches

Slinger Torch Ammo — Torch Pods — bursts into flame when it lands, repelling certain monsters, and potentially attracting monsters that are drawn to fire.

Slinger Bombs

Slinger Bombs or Bomb Pods explode on impact and deal heavy damage. (eg. 60 Damage)

Piercing Pods

Piercing pods can pierce their target to inflict damage, which can be picked up and used as Slinger Ammo dropped by monsters. Firing at the right place will get you more damage than Bomb pods.

Slinger Thorn

Slinger Thorn ammo or Thorn Pods which are dropped by monsters, sticks to the target and explode when hit with an attack.

Dragon Pods

Dragon Pods again dropped by monsters can inflict Dragon Damage and even flinch the monster. For example, if you’re not in a position to Flash the fleeing Nergigante, you can fire Dragon Pods to get it back on the fight without fleeing.

Puddle Pods

Watermoss can be picked up and used as Slinger Ammo called Puddle Pods. Try using it to trigger faraway plants and Barrel Bombs, or to clean mud off of a target. I also use Puddle Pods on Kirin.

Flashbugs

Flashbugs can be collected and used as Slinger Ammo called Flash Pods. They emit a blinding flash of light upon contact. Flash Pods are the magic item #1 to stop any monster for some heavy hitting. However, it doesn’t work on Tzitzi YaKu and Kirin. All flying monsters such as Rathalos fall down with Flash Pods.

Dung Pods

Dung Pods produce a stench so vile that it causes the monsters to flee the area. You can craft Dung Pods by gathering monster dung that you find out in the field.

Utilizing The Environment

Vitalities

Vitalities are plants that release a curative nectar when struck. This nectar restores the health of anyone that touches it.

Flashflies

When struck, Flashflies emit a flash of light that can stun monsters. The flash is stronger when more Flashflies struck at once. So get your team mates to handle all Flashflies at once.

Sporepuffs

Sporepuffs release a cloud of spores when struck, that can be used to provide camouflage.

Paratoads

Paratoads release a spray of gas when struck and it’s strong enough to even paralyze large monsters.

Wiggly Litchi

These nutrient-rich larvae can be consumed to halve Stamina Depletion for a short time.

Vigorwasps

Vigorwasps collect vitality nectar to make their honey, and release it in a cloud when struck. This can serve as a useful method of healing when out in the field.

Poisoncups

Posincups release a shower of poisonous fluid when struck. Watch your step, as the poison remains pooled on the ground for a short time.

Sleeptoads

Sleeptoads can put even large monsters to sleep by releasing a spray of strong gas when struck.

Nitrotoads

Nitrotoads release a spray of volatile liquid that explodes with enough power to stagger even large monsters, when struck.

Palico Tips

Trusty Hunting Pawtners

Palicoes are reliable comrades while out on the hunt. They’ll support you in numerous ways during quests, from attacking monsters to using useful gadgets such as Plunderblade.

Palico Equipment

You can forge Palico equipment at the Smithy. Materials are required to forge it, just as with Hunter Armor.

Palico Gadgets

Palico Gadgets are support tools that your Palicoes can use in the field to provide a variety of useful effects, from damage-dealing to healing and buffing.

Tailraiders

Your Palico can speak with Grimalkynes and certain other monsters to convince them to help you on your hunts. Those you befriend will accompany you for a short time as Tailraiders.

What Furr-iends Are For

The Palicoes of hunters and friends you’ve exchanged Guild Cards with will sometimes appear out in the field. Talk to them and they might tag along to help you on your hunt!

Palico Training

While your Palico is on standby, it will automatically train itself, gradually gaining small amounts of experience.

Gadget Proficiency

Your Palico has a degree of proficiency for each Palico Gadget. Proficiency improves every time your Palico takes the gadget out on a hunt. As your Palico becomes more proficient, the gadget becomes more effective.

Endemic Life Tips

Omenflies

Omenflies are insects that glow red in the presence of large monsters. Look for them and note their color to get a quick feel for the area around you.

Revoltures

These black-feathered birds with red-topped crests are often seen picking meat from monster carcasses. They’re also commonly seen circling the skies above large monsters, waiting for a chance at the leftovers.

Sushifish

Sushifish are popular hunter staple. Their nutrient-rich scales can also be used to restore health.

Carrier Ants

Carrier Ants have been known to carry around various objects. There have been rare sightings of them from carrying around materials from large monsters.

Iron Helmcrabs

These creatures like to carry around hard objects like stones, and are often found holding Piercing Pods.

Great Fish

Many species of fish have “Great” specimens that are unusually large. These have more powerful effects when used as items and result in more Research Points.

Rare Endemic Life

The New World is filled with creatures, some of which only appear at certain times or during certain weather conditions such as Rainbow bug. Speak to the Endemic Life Researcher to find out more.

Endemic Pets

Endemic Creatures you capture can be placed various spots in your room. Certain critters can only be placed in specific areas of your room, and the number you can place depends on the type of room. Speak with your housekeeper to place your pets.

About The Commission

The Elder Crossing

The Elder Crossing is an Ecological phenomena in which Elder Dragons travel to the New World. Though it used to occur only once every 100 years or so, the Crossings now occur about once in every 10 years. Mysteriously, some Elder Dragons never even make it to the New World.

Elder Dragons

Elder Dragons are monsters that are far removed from the known tree of life. The very appearance of an Elder Dragon is enough to cause natural phenomena and disasters. Much remains unknown about them.

The Research Commission

The Commission is made up of the elite members of the Guild. Included in their number are hunters, scholars and engineers, all whom were required to pass rigorous tests before they could join.

The New World

Though its existence was known of for a long time, the New World remained unexplored because of how far away it was, and because of the dangerous weather surrounding it. Advances in seafaring technology, however, have allowed the Commission to land Five Fleets on the New World.

Scoutflies

Standard gear for the hunters of the Research Commission. These small insects give off a green glow, and are stored in a small cage. They can pick up particular scents and substances, which comes in handy when the Research Commission goes on expeditions, or is tracking down a monster.

Slinger

Standard gear for the Research Commission’s hunters. They resemble small crossbows attached to the left arm, and can shoot stones, knives, ropes, capture nets and more.

The Research Base

Researchers comprise 90% of the Third Fleet, whose base currently rests in the Great Ravine. The Third Fleet was trapped after their airship balloons were destroyed by a monster. They are currently conducting research on the Rotten Vale.

The Tale of The Five

The sigils of the Research Commission are all derived from the Tale of The Five. You can read this story from a book in the Chamber of The Five.

MHW Rathalos, At a Glance

MHW Rathalos Weakness

As usual MHW gives you various details about the game, its monsters, weapons and many other things inside the game. There’s also a book known as Hunter’s Notes where you can find Rathalos Weakness details, but the thing is it’s not available until you research the monster.

At the moment of writing this Rathalos guide, I’ve killed 187 MHW Rathalos and captured 26 AND who knows what number I failed.

So, this is what’s shown for Physiology of MHW Rathalos in the Hunter’s Notes. Yeah, that’s Rathalos Weakness data in a scientific way.

Rathalos Weak Parts are …

1. Head
2. Front of Wings
3. End of Tail
4. BONUS: Back

Therefore, attacking Rathalos legs, between legs, between legs & tail’s end or neck won’t do much damage.

If you’re using Weakness Exploit skill, then you sure do need to focus on weak body parts of Rathalos for satisfying yellow Damage Numbers like the one you see in the video above.

TIP: Target one of the Rathalos Wings and break that part to avoid annoying Aerial Attacks. Watch how Rathalos falls down when you do this in the video.

Jumping attack on to the Rathalos Back can also do big damage as well as letting you to mount the monster. Mounting. Knock Out. Biggest Combo. Yeah, that’s a favorite combination of mine.

Since Tail is a weak spot and it’s the only thing severable, it’s a good idea to cut down the Tail to avoid all Tail attacks. Plus you get the chance to gain a Rathalos rare reward, but about that in a moment.

Rathalos Elemental Weaknesses are …

1. Dragon
2. Thunder
3. Ice

Using a weapon powered with Elements deal extra damage to the monster. For example, you can watch how I did extra 100 Blast Element damage with Empress Galea “Styx” Greatsword for MHW Rathalos in the video above.

That extra damage is useful when the monster has that element as one of its Elemental Weaknesses.

Then there is Ailment Weakness too. Ailments can stop the monster for a bit giving you a while to nail the weak parts for a truckload of damage.

Rathalos Ailment Weaknesses are …

1. Sleep
2. Paralysis
3. Stun

Out of those ailments Stun is the easiest Rathalos Ailment, because attacking weak part, Head causes Stuns as well as a quick Flash Pod too make it happen. Watch how I stunned Rathalos with a Flash Pod before breaking something precious of it in the video.

MHW Rathalos Location

MHW Rathalos has its native home in the Ancient Forest. In all MHW Story Mode assigned quests, Rathalos has appeared only in Ancient Forest. Yet in Optional, Investigations and Event quests, Rathalos has appeared in other areas too such as Elder’s Recess.

Ancient Forest can be painful in finding monsters, when you don’t have Monster’s Research Level at max. But no worries now, because I’m going to show you common locations where Rathalos appear in Ancient Forest.

Here are common Rathalos Locations …

1. Area #16

3. Area #12
4. Area #14
5. Area #8

Area #16, Ancient Forest Camp is Closest

Area #5, Northeast Camp is Closest

Area #12, Northeast Camp is Closest

TIP: Build all 4 Camps in Ancient Forest to travel faster in case you don’t find Rathalos in a specific location.

MHW Rathalos Rewards

Armors, Weapons and Charms using Rathalos parts or powers require you to have various Rathalos Rewards. There are 5 ways you can gain Rathalos Rewards,

1. By hunting Rathalos.
2. By carving the slayed Rathalos.
3. By breaking Rathalos body parts.
4. By melding few Rathalos parts at Elder Melder.
5. By purchasing at Argosy.

Of course, beginner hunters won’t have access to Argosy and Elder Melder. If that’s the case with you, then there’s no other way than hunting a Rathalos to gain rewards.

But if you feel Rathalos is too hard, there’s SOS hunters to help you. Monster that gave you so much trouble will be over like in a minute or two.

How To Get Rathalos Ruby and Rathalos Plate?

Majority of the Rathalos Rewards are received frequently by hunting or carving both Low Rank Rathalos and High Rank Rathalos. However, Rathalos rare rewards are actually harder to get. In fact Rathalos Ruby is more harder to get as it’s available only in HR Rathalos hunts.

Rathalos Plate can be obtained by,

1. Breaking Rathalos Head in both LR & HR.
2. Breaking Rathalos Wings in both LR & HR.
3. Breaking Rathalos Tail in both LR & HR.

Rathalos Ruby on the other hand can only be obtained by,

1. Breaking HR Rathalos Head.
2. Breaking HR Rathalos Wings.
3. Breaking HR Rathalos Tail.

It’s also possible to get both Rathalos Plate and Rathalos Ruby rare rewards by Elder Melder, but the cost is too high as Silver & Gold Wyverian Prints are hard to farm.

Sometimes having a warthog up on the base is useful.
