Independent publisher Venger’s Decks has officially launched the physical edition of The Chaos Card Deck TTRPG, a pocket-sized, standalone system designed for zero-prep tabletop adventuring. Driven by lead designer Scott Docherty, the Glasgow-based studio is expanding its repertoire of supplementary tools into a complete, rules-light experience available for £15. The retail release follows a period of digital playtesting, which Geek Native covered earlier this year.

The core appeal of The Chaos lies in its extreme portability and accessibility. Built for both solo and group play, the system eschews sprawling manuals in favour of a single, tarot-sized deck. It provides mechanics for character creation, session generation, and on-the-fly monster encounters. Players begin in The Keep, venture into The Realm, and return if they survive; a structural loop that deliberately accommodates fluctuating player counts and impromptu gathering.

While the digital rules remain free online, the physical release is pitched as a tangible, tactile upgrade for the table that circumvents the need for screen time.

In short, because there’s nothing like holding the deck in your hands and unleashing chaos at your table! I use my card decks for most of my game sessions. Encounters, critical hit flavour and mechanics, dungeon geomorphs, NPCs, and so on, and an entire ttrpg in card deck form is just a natural extension of that. I’ve always loved the idea of drawing a card from a deck and creating something magical. Plus, there’s the bonus of how portable it is. It can be run as a solo game, so you can take it wherever you like, pull it from your bag or pocket, and kick off a session with zero prep. All the rules and tables are right there in the deck.”

The deck integrates natively with existing Venger’s Decks products, such as The Crit or The Snap, allowing tabletop groups to stack encounter mechanics without requiring a laptop or internet connection. To bridge the gap for hybrid groups, every physical purchase also includes digital assets, such as high-definition classic battle maps, printable character sheets, and virtual tabletop-friendly fillable forms.

Early reception highlights the unpredictable narrative generation driven by the deck’s spark tables. When asked about his favourite story from early sessions, Scott Docherty shared an account from an early playtester of the game:

Told my group we were trying something new. Twenty minutes in, our rascal had accidentally started a cult. He’d rolled badly on a traits check and basically a bunch of randoms in town clocked him as some sort of radical revolutionary. The empath in the group decided the best response was to burn down the tavern and blame it on the rascal and ruin his rep. By the end of the session, the cult was still going, the tavern was ash, and the party’s now this feared crime family in town. We’d been going for two hours. I had nothing prepared. Genuinely don’t know how it ended up like that, but it was so much fun!! We’re playing again next Saturday, so who knows what will happen!”

Though the campaign lists its registered business address as Dudley, West Midlands, the core development team operates out of Turkey, building on their longstanding background in high-concept grimdark fantasy books. The new project serves as a comprehensive “codex of evil,” built to inject a darker tone into tactical roleplaying games.

Demonheart positions itself as an explicit, adult-oriented sandbox, centring its narrative around damned souls who have awakened in a brutal landscape constructed out of the corpses of fallen angels.

Navigating the Mechanics of Damnation

At its mechanical core, Demonheart introduces an entirely new character class forged in catastrophe, alongside 66 subclasses designed to fray standard character identities. Players must navigate seven distinct Sin Domains based on the seven deadly sins. The Pride domain, for example, allows upper-class characters to draw power from status and commanding presence, granting practitioners advanced tactical tools to dominate both enemies and social encounters.

The centrepiece of the volume’s mechanical changes is the Sin Die system, which layers a volatile element of risk over the standard duality dice mechanic. The release also outlines over 200 items that grant power at a direct cost, as well as more than 150 new adversaries, including the lurking Snatcher Demon, the twisted Strican, and the brutal Ursusian. Due to these heavy elements of body horror, ritual sacrifice, and existential dread, the creators have released an explicit reader discretion warning.

Under this updated arrangement, the publishing house will assume complete responsibility as the primary point of contact for all manufacturing, shipping, and backer logistics.

This transition represents a major pivot for the turbulent project. Just weeks prior, relations between the creator and the publisher had visibly strained, with Daniel D. Fox publicly raising the prospect of litigation over protracted manufacturing delays and outstanding backer rewards. By formalising this operational boundary, World of Game Design faces direct accountability to resolve the backlogged physical fulfilment, while Daniel D. Fox transitions out of the administrative crossfire into a purely creative and community-driven role.

Going forward, World of Game Design will be serving as the primary point of contact for all questions related to: Printing, Production, Fulfillment, Shipping timelines, Manufacturing updates, Address changes, Backer logistics. Under the new guidelines, independent creators will be permitted to write, produce, and sell their own supplements, adventures, and settings compatible with Zweihänder Reforged without paying a licensing fee.

As part of his refined responsibilities, Daniel D. Fox will manage this third-party pipeline and lead discussions on rules directly on the project’s community Discord server. While the introduction of a royalty-free license offers a clear path for community-driven content expansion, the immediate priority for the broader player base remains fixed on the physical books currently tied up in the newly reorganised logistical pipeline managed by World of Game Design.

The first trailer for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma has just dropped, and it looks both completely off and chain and like we’re in for a real horror treat!

The film, starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month (13th May), where it’s already received “significant praise”.

The trailer itself is full of references to classic horror movies such as Videodrome, Friday the 13th, and Sleepaway Camp. What as for the plot, here’s the official description:

Set at a summer camp unraveling under increasingly bizarre circumstances, the film follows a queer filmmaker (Einbinder) attempting to resurrect a fading horror franchise from a bygone era, determined to enlist its original final girl (Anderson) in a last attempt at revival.

A third expansion of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has just been announced by CD Projekt Red, titled Songs of the Past, and we have the first details to share with you.

Due out in 2027, Songs of the Past will be released a full 12 years after The Witcher 3‘s original release (2015), and will join expansions Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone – both of which were released in 2016 and 2015 respectively.

For fans, this is not entirely a surprise, as rumours about a third expansion have been doing the rounds for a while – however, to have it confirmed is still lovely and very welcome news.

CD Projekt is apparently co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team of “industry veterans” who had previously worked on The Witcher 3.

CD Projekt have also shared in a social media post that the new content will mean the game will need to update its system requirements “to ensure smooth performance and compatibility going forward.” This will become effective starting from the next update, and IGN have posted the details.

They also added:

We originally planned to make this big reveal during our REDstreams tomorrow, but let’s say we found something we didn’t yet expect on RED Launcher.

Personally, I love the name they’ve come up with for this expansion, Songs of the Past, because at least for me, the songs in game are so integral to the story (think Priscilla’s Song for example) and the feelings attached to it.

I downloaded the entire soundtrack, have listened to it many times whilst playing D&D with friends, or just because I’ve felt like it!

I can’t wait to find out what this next instalment has in store, and that we’ll be seeing more of Geralt – and not just potentially in Witcher 4, which is also in the works at the moment.

Word Forge Games, a publishing outfit known for picking up the pieces of troubled crowdfunding projects, has officially stepped in to manage the fulfilment of Heroes of the Pacific, a tactical wargame previously left stranded following the financial collapse of its original publisher, Devil Pig Games.

The game, which utilises the mechanics of the Heroes System, will make a major promotional appearance at UK Games Expo 2026.

Operating from the GMS Tabletop stand (Stand 844 in Hall 3), the team will run live demonstrations of the tactical scale system. These demos aim to bridge the gap between the game’s complicated past and its upcoming release window, currently estimated for December 2026. The development cycle represents a cross-border effort, with the foundational mechanics designed in France by the surviving members of the creative team, while final manufacturing is scheduled to take place in China.

The underlying mechanics of Heroes of the Pacific rely on the Heroes System: Tactical Scale, which previously earned an Origins Award for Best Historical Boardgame. The system simulates small-scale military conflicts using a combination of recruitment tiles, grid-based movement, and hidden order tokens. Players manage army construction via specialised command tiles, which introduce variation through the use of specific doctrine cards. The system focuses on tactical friction, using action cards to trigger unpredictable events that interrupt standard movement and firing sequences.

The current campaign serves a dual purpose as both a standard product launch and a community salvation initiative. Word Forge Games has imported backer data from the original, failed crowdfunding campaign. This structural change allows previous contributors who lost money to claim the completed project for fees ranging from £1 to £65, depending on their historical pledge levels, while new backers enter the ecosystem at the £100 tier. This tiered entry has sparked debate regarding the cost breakdown of independent fulfilment, though the publisher has clarified that the project will completely bypass traditional retail channels.

Paramount, GEA Live, and Senbla have announced that The Legend of Korra in Concert will tour the United Kingdom and Europe starting in January 2027.

Following the massive ticket sales of the Avatar: The Last Airbender concert series, this new live-to-picture orchestral experience will hit major UK venues, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. The tour is timed to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the acclaimed animated series’ original debut on Nickelodeon.

For the tabletop community, this is highly welcome news, specifically for fans deeply invested in Magpie Games’ Avatar Legends roleplaying game. As players continue to explore the politically complex, industrialised era of Republic City at the gaming table, they will now have the opportunity to experience its defining soundtrack live. Pre-sale tickets are scheduled to go live via Ticketmaster on Thursday, 28 May at 9 am, with general admission opening on Friday, 29 May at 9 am.

While the rapid turnaround for ticket sales might catch some fans off guard, especially given the complete absence of official pricing tiers in the initial announcement, the production promises a sprawling audiovisual event. The show synchronises a live symphonic performance with high-definition projections of memorable scenes from the four-season run. However, the producers have yet to confirm which specific orchestras or local ensembles will be performing the complex score during the UK dates.

The musical shift from the original series to The Legend of Korra is stark, abandoning purely traditional world music for 1920s-inspired jazz, electronic, and early modern cinematic orchestration. Emmy Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman returns to the spotlight for this tour, having defined the auditory landscape of both eras of the franchise.
