Our perception of visible light depends on context. You might go shop-ping for house paints, for example, and be shocked to find that the particular shade of white you selected in the store makes your kitchen look pink! You may have chosen the wrong shade of white because the ambient light in the store differs from that of your home. If we could accurately identify colors, we would never make such mistakes. People may think they are more adept at identifying colors, however, because they tend to associate hues with specific objects, which do not change. For instance, we will generally perceive an apple to be red because the light reflecting off its surface remains fairly constant from moment to moment.

In contrast, in hearing we identify objects, people and speech by the changes in frequency. For example, we can understand a sentence whether it is spoken by a girl with a high voice or a man with a low voice because the relative changes in frequency that occur as the girl and man recite the same words are about the same. In fact, speech and other sounds in

the environment are always changing, which is likely why we have evolved to recognize changes in frequencies rather than any single pitch.

Although few people develop perfect pitch—the ability to precisely name the frequency of a sound—we have a remarkable ability to discriminate among different sounds. We can distinguish house cats from tigers, bicycles from motorcycles, and basketballs from Ping-Pong balls. We use the melodic properties of speech to discriminate a person’s gender, identity and mood. We have an expansive musical memory that enables us to recall tens of thousands of melodies with ease. And with a modest degree of training, most musicians can develop relative pitch, the ability to identify an unknown tone in relation to a known tone.

Our forgetfulness is generally attributed to neurochemical conditions in the brain that occur during REM sleep, a phase of sleep characterized by rapid eye movements and dreaming. Perhaps the most compelling explanation is the absence of the hormone norepinephrine in the cerebral cortex, a brain region that plays a key role in memory, thought, language and consciousness. A study published in 2002 in the American Journal of Psychiatry supports the theory that the presence of norepinephrine enhances memory in humans, although its role in learning and recall remains controversial.

A lack of norepinephrine, however, does not completely explain why we forget dreams so easily. Recent research suggests that dreaming lies on a continuum with other forms of mental functioning, which are all characterized by activity in the cerebral cortex. On the one side of this continuum is concentrated, focused thought; dreaming and mind wandering lie on the other, with some overlap among the types. The dreaming/reverie end involves some of the most creative and “far out” material. This type of less consciously directed thinking, however, is not easy to remember. Can you recall where your mind wandered while you were brushing your teeth this morning?

In general, we are very good at forgetting nonessentials. In fact, many of our thoughts, not just those we have while dreaming, are lost. We tend to recall only things that we think about often or that have emotional significance—a problem, a date, a meeting. Mulling over important thoughts activates our dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), a brain region that facilitates memory.

Although most dreams vanish, certain ones tend to remain. These dreams were so beautiful or bizarre, they captured our attention and increased activity in our DLPFC. Thus, the more impressive your dream or thought, the more likely you are to remember it.

On my way home I boarded a public transit in a bus park at the Ketu area of Lagos State, Nigeria. I was sited in the bus when I noticed something that stuck my attention, there was an elderly man standing on the roof of a building and he was busy fixing, cutting and replacing the wires connected to an electric pole with his bare hands and a knife.

When i noticed what he was doing i decided to get a video tape of the mans action(which you can watch below).

A lot of things went through my mind, like what if there's power in those wires he was handling with his bare hands and cutting, what if some government official saw him, how would he explain himself.

What are the dangers of doing this kind of an act? You could get electrocuted while doing that and saving him might be difficult, again what it he was caught by some government official he might be arrested and would pay a heavy fee or be thrown into jail and all this would surely affect his immediate family.

My candid advice to Nigerians is that they should cease from doing things like this as it always have a negative effect one day.

I hope the officials responsible for power in Lagos, Nigeria would see this and act if possible.

Gombe lawmaker, Senator Joshua Lidani, has had to seek refuge in the residence of the traditional ruler of Talasse town, the headquarters of Balanga Local Government Area, after he was approached by protesters to “answer some of their questions.”

According to a live Facebook update by an activist, Ibrahim Wala, on Monday, April 2, 2018, the lawmaker representing Gombe South senatorial district had paid an unscheduled visit to Talasse town where protesters say he has neglected since he was elected in 2015.

Wala said, “I think it is important for people to understand that our politicians are becoming some form of threat to us. I’m getting a situation report from Gombe state – Balanga local government, there is a situation going on.

“There is a kind of standoff between some of the youth of Balanga local government. They are calling on the senator representing Gombe south, Joshua Lidani who is on a visit to the local government headquarters. He is having difficulty getting out of the local government.

“It appears all the youth in the area are saying ‘no’, they don’t want to see him, they want him to account for his stewardship.

“Ever since he was appointed, he abandoned them, he has never gone to see them for a day. Today he paid a visit there.”

A protester in Talasse who spoke to Wala on the phone reported that the former deputy governor had “refused to visit Talasse since his election despite several appeals.”

He said the lawmaker also refused to answer or return calls from the people of his constituency “only for him to sneak in today” to meet with political associates as the 2019 elections approach.

He also revealed that youths had put up several blockades on other roads and villages where the lawmaker could sneak through to escape.

“Apart from those at the emir’s palace, several youth groups have also blocked all other roads the senator may seek to sneak out, not just in Talasse here, but other villages along the road as well,” he said.

According to him, police officers had been called to the scene but they had to retreat to a distance to avoid confrontation with protesters.

Idiga Felix attended St. Mary's Primary school, Amaifeke, Orlu, 1972 to 1977 and later proceeded to secondary school. He was unable to complete secondary school in one stretch due to his natural quest for business and entrepreneurship.

Consequently, he ventured into the business world in 1984. With the help of his father, he was provided him the initial capital to start up a house utensils business in Onitsha. Inevitably, in June 1987, he went over to Lagos State, Nigeria to seek for greener pastures and to diversify his growing business. Later, he ventured into importation by traveling to Europe to import certain goods like designer shoes and apparels.
Felix later went back to school, Pre-Varsity Education Centre, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja in 1990, to complete his disrupted secondary education. He later, sat for his GCE/O'Level Examination. In 1992, he proceeded to University of Lagos, Akoka for his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.

6. Jafac Foundation sponsored cultural dance in 12 LGAs that made up of Orlu Zone. Participants won fabulous prices.

7. Jafac Foundation sponsored football talent hunt/ soccer competition across Orlu Zone and exceptional talents were discovered harvested.

8. Jafac Foundation provided basic remedies to the needs of people such as foods, monies, and financial respite to hospital patients in Orlu Zone.

9. Jafac Foundation has assisted many less privileged homes in Orlu Zone.
