Alfie The New Glenartney Dog has arrived!

Alf arrived about 5 weeks ago and has settled in well, it seems to be his mission to meet everyone! He is constantly trying to sneak into the guesthouse, probably because he knows that is where he gets the attention.

He still needs lots of sleep and can only exercise for a short time as his legs have lots of growing todo!

Robbie has been working very hard on a great calendar which celebrates mountain rescue on Arran for 50 years. All proceeds go to Mountain Rescue funds. You can buy one throughout the island soon.

Robbie and I are busy with the final refurbishments for the 2013 season.
The are several bedrooms that have been redecorated.
New beds have arrived and there's a room full of new pillows.
My task now is to make headboards....

Glenartney has opened her doors for her 81st season today.
The weather is beautiful, blue skies and sun!
Glenartney is looking at her best with lots more renovations keeping us busy over the winter months.
Anda and Michal are back to help look after our guests and Valerie is looking after the garden.

Woodlea now has a beautiful newly landscaped back garden with a large deck patio area. It was hard work but really worth it!

Lots of renovations and redecoration have taken place over the winter months.
Glenartney is looking great, we can't wait to open the doors and welcome our guests.
Robbie is working hard in Woodlea garden to get the landscaping finished for the the 31st March, the weather is being kind at last!

Glenartney is being prepared for her winter hibernation - we close on Sunday 2nd October, we wake her up again on the 30th March 2012

We shall be continuing with Glenartney's makeover over the winter months.

Woodlea is going to have a garden makeover this winter as it has become an ongoing project to keep ontop of the tryphids!

Miles is taking his Cytech bike mechanics qualifications soon -so we can offer an even better service to our cycling guests for 2012.

Being Scotland there was a variety of weather conditions to keep everyone on their toes!

The beginning of August sees a flurry of activity on Arran

3rd August we have the Agricultral Show with Princess Anne coming for a visit.
The Best of Kendal film festival at Corrie Hall is being staged in the evening too.

The 6th August is the Brodick Highland Games...busy busy busy -ensure you get to the ferry early otherwise you could be left on the quay!

Arran is coming to Glasgow!!!

The Glenartney re-opens on the 8th April so we are busy getting ready for the new season.

Lots of renovations are taking place as usual. Angela is covered in paint and Robbie has bashed his thumb! But apart from that all is going well!

Edith , the shepherd's hut - has just arrived on Arran. thanks for Ashwood Timber of Taunton for creating her!

Our new website has been launched today!
After a lot of hard work our website designer, Tom (PComs) has created a great site which gives all the information you should need to plan you break on Arran at the Glenartney.

She's a grand old girl who had a magnificent facelift in 2010 and is in for more work this winter!

Glenartney is now tucked up for the winter and will re-open 8th April 2011.

Well done to two of our guests for setting themselves the challenge of cycling around the island then climbing Goatfell in a day! They returned to Brodick in the evening just finding enough energy to eat!

Three guests played 120 holes of golf each in 3 days and plan to come back for more next year!

Anyone visiting the island should be aware that the 'String Road' which splits the island in half (across the middle) is actually closed to traffic at the moment and will be until the road has been repaired!
Hopefully if the work gets done on schedule it'll be navigable by the end of June.

If you are heading to the 'west' of Arran you should allow at least a further 30-45 minutes to your journey which means heading north from Brodick, thru Corrie and Lochranza, Pirnmill and onto Blackwaterfoot.

There is still plenty to take in along the journey if your plans are to circumnavigate Arran!

The great weather has arrived on Arran with blue skies and trace of snow left on Goatfell it is beautiful.

Everything has come alive on Arran;

Mountain bikers and walkers are making their way past our front door up the Fairy Glen Trail

Kayakers are out with Arran Adventure exploring the coast line

The rib is whisking people out to Ailsa Craig

Glenartney guest house is looking excellent after her winter renovations.

Our new self catering house is up and running, we've a few spaces left for the summer but they are filling up quickly .

Zak our dog is very happy to have lots of guests on hand to throw his ball, he's waiting in the garden for everyone to come back!
