The 10X Rule. I have set a goal of reading and reviewing a new non-fiction book in 2019. My reading this year is the 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure, by Grant Cardone.

At first I wasn't sure I would like this book, with the description showing it might be an ordinary motivational speaker designed to inspire but not always enlighten.

Maybe I read it at the right time for me, but in three nights I finish the book and, every time I read a few more chapters, my brain spins and keeps me up late, making lots of notebooks.

It's a bit fuzzy; good motivation but mild at specific steps or actionable.

Here are some of the parts I highlighted on my Kindle. You will see what I mean.

The 10X Rule book

Extremely successful people know that their efforts must continue in order for them to realize new achievements. Once the hunt for a desired object or goal is abandoned, the cycle of success comes to an end.

When people start limiting the amount of success they desire, I assure you they will limit what will be required of them in order to achieve success and will fail miserably at doing what it takes to keep it.

You must set targets that are 10 times what you think you want and then do 10 times what you think it will take to accomplish those targets. Massive thoughts must be followed by massive actions.

10 times the thoughts and 10 times the actions of other people. The 10X Rule is about pure domination mentality.

The 10X Rule assumes the target is never the problem. Any target attacked with the right actions in the right amounts with persistence is attainable.

"No one can keep up with me. I'm not going away. I am not a competitor. I am the space."

I suggest that you become obsessed about the things you want; otherwise, you are going to spend a lifetime being obsessed with making up excuses as to why you didn't get the life you wanted.

Over that year and a half, I published three books, introduced four new sales programs, produced more than 700 segments of training material for a virtual training site, did 600 radio interviews, wrote more than 150 articles or blog entries, and made thousands of personal phone calls. While the rest of the world withdrew, we expanded on every front possible.

You must first make a vow to have your brand, idea, concept, company, product, or service make a footprint on the planet. To do so, you have to get involved with your community, school system, neighborhood, and local politics. You have to attend and be seen at events, write in the local paper, and get connected to the players in your community. Once involved do everything possible to stay active, have people see you, read you, hear you, and think about you. Say yes to every opportunity to get your word out. Write about it, talk about it, give lectures on what you do, and even bark on the street corners if you have to. Commit to omnipresence!

The most successful people I know read everything they can get their hands on. They approach a $30 book as though it has the potential to make them a million dollars.

Big thinking, massive actions, expansion, and risk taking are necessary for your survival and future growth. Staying small and quiet are just ways to continue being small and quiet. Keep thinking this way, and sometime in the very near future, no one will be able to see you, hear you — or be aware that you ever existed.

I like this to talk a lot. It resonates with me. The notion of market saturation, absenteeism, and a high level of ongoing activity is part of my personal approach to business.

But did I come from reading this book with tips or ideas that can be followed up on? This approach is somehow socially acceptable. That's about the best I can say about it.
