This Le Crueset is so pretty in kiwi and it's a great pot. It has the Le Crueset looks without the heaviness. Be sure not to use a metal utensil because I used one in my last one and the coating on the bottom scratched slightly.

I love this pot, it is the perfect size for a pot of beans. I have other ones that are really large so this is a nice addition to my kitchen. Great price I have seen the same stockpot at stores for 89.99 so this is a steal. I also love the color it adds a nice punch of color.

cooking in style

This pot is great! I had it before but one of my children took it. It is the perfect size and shape for soup; and it is not too small as some say; I have six children and the amount feeds us all, you do not need a hugh pot to cook in unless you want lots of leftovers or putting hugh pieces of meat or lots of bones in, I for one, don't care for to many leftovers. I got the kiwi green and it is beautiful.

Nice features - low price

This is a great little fryer. It cooks enough for 2 servings at a time, do not overload. It has a nice list of features. The basket is very handy, the temperature guage and ready light work well and the lid with vents and a filter help reduce the grease smell in your house. Some foods with a lot of moisture will not fry well with the lid closed and even with the lid closed you will not eliminate the odor completely. I set this up on my stove when I use it so that I'm able to use the exhaust fan as well and then I am able to eliminate all of the smell. It cleans up nicely and I'm able to store the oil in it between uses for weeks.

The previous reviews clearly were not using as this is intended. I suspect they were overfilling with oil/food/both.

I love a bit of grease

A great gadget. No spills, no over boils, no stink, no mess.

Ensure your food is patted dry...or use a bit less oil if you don't want an over boil of grease coming out of the top.

It also says, to prevent food gunk sticking to pan..like hand batter fish don't use the basket. I just put the basket down into the grease and drop the fish in. Didn't stick.

Easy to clean. Lid lifts off, and it has a small catch for when you open the lid in the back of the unit.

I think it was easy to clean. Lid comes off, filter pops out, bowl lifts out and the bowl is immersable. Little hot water and Dawn and like new...

It took about 51 ounces of oil.

Order extra filters, it only comes with one.

great little fryer

This fryer is way better than the one I bought a few years ago [the fry baby]. The only word of caution I want to share with folks is to really remove the ice crystals from food before putting in the fryer. The ice crystals make the oil boil up too much and will cause leakage. I had this happen the first time I fried, and since then I rinse the chicken wings under cool water and shake em off before putting them in the basket. If anyone is wondering, it takes a bottle and a half of cooking oil to get to the "max fill line", which is where they recommend it to be. The cooking/draining basket is probably the best feature of the product because you can let the oil drain off before putting the food on paper towels. I've noticed a lot less grease on my paper towels after letting the food drain for a couple of minutes.

Best Slow Cooker

I've been using Crock-Pot SCVT650-PS 6-1/2-Quart Programmable Touch Screen Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel was happy with it until I got this Emeril by T-fal Slow Cooker. I saw HSN presentation and realized this slow cooker can do so much more and it's great price. I'm using Emeril Slow Cooker Recipe Book a lot and my favorite one is Korean-Style Short Ribs. It's really amazing. Split Pea Soup is also my favorite. It's a great Slow Cooker and I am absolutely happy with this appliance.

inconsistent quality?

My first bulb was installed in Dec 2007, and is still running fine as of Feb 2008. However, I installed my second bulb on a different socket (on the same circuit) 2 weeks ago, and it has already burned out. I called Feit to complain, and they insisted that they could not help me out because my bulbs don't have the model number printed on their base. After offering to read off the model number that's printed on my box (ie, 50PAR20/QFL), they were very reluctant to accept this info. Strange. Anyway, after ~10 mins or so, they eventually stated that they'll ship me a replacement, and that it should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks. Yup, 4 to 6 weeks! A Final Warning: Feit informed me that they don't normally offer replacements for bulbs purchased through online vendors. I guess I should consider myself lucky?

Good price and Long Life too

I just purchased these halogen floods for my new range hood which came without any bulbs. I like the 130 volt rating for longer life when operated at 120 volts. I needed 2 but purchased 4 for the free shipping and for spares. They are great so far and cost less than purchasing 120 volt bulbs locally (130 volt rated bulbs not locally available).

I found this Breville Juice Fountain Compact a great buy and particularly like the large 3 inch wide chute to push in citrus, fruit and vegetables. It takes a relatively smaller size counter footprint compared to my other (older) full size Breville Juicer but still packs 700 watts of power which is somehow MORE than my older full size Breville Juicer. I saved over 15% versus the standard "new" model- smaller, more power, cost less--whats not to like? Oh it has dishwasher-safe parts, too!

The Most Beautiful Espresso Machine, Works Great!

My Starbucks bill gets high so my husband bought me this machine as a gift. I used to own De'Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker a while and died less than a year. It's the most beautiful looking machine, so my kitchen looks amazing for just having this unit. It's very easy to use and clean. Heats up very quickly. I'm very happy with this gorgeous item in my kitchen and start a day with a Latte which does not cost $5.

Krups KT600 silver art

I love this coffee maker! It's been a long time since I had my 1st Krups, & their newer models didn't get the water as hot as this one older model,until now. This does the job, brews a great pot of coffee, keeps it hot for hrs & still tastes great. I'm very picky about my coffee. I'd gone to a french press because I couldn't get a decent pot in the electric drip(my old Krups went to my X). So now I have this model & love it. It's a very sleek design, simple on auto off once it's brewed,& the 10 cup karaf keeps it piping hot without that acidic taste u get when coffee stands warm. This size is good for 4 lg cups/mug. Enjoy.

Great and great looking

This was the best looking coffee maker we could find, saw it, had to have it. This is my third Krups and it makes a great cup of coffee. Coffee stays super hot for at least 3 hours.

Drawbacks: I think it pours a little slow and the markings on the side are a little hard to read. My husband thinks the requirements for descaling every forty runs is excessive.

I Agree on All the Good Points

The beauty, the properly heated cup of excellent tasting coffee and the fact that the coffee stays hot all morning are all great aspects if this coffee maker. But I want to point out that it is very slow to pour and to get the last cup or so of coffee you will turn the carafe a good 120 degrees. The water reservoir is not removable so it you overfill the container you have to use a small container to ladle out the water or unplug it and walk it to the sink. Oh, and it turns out that 8 "European cups" are just three 12 oz. mugs of coffee. If water is still in the basket my coffee maker tends to leak it onto the carafe's pad. Finally, and just a small point is, there is no provision for storing excess cord in the coffeemakers base. And yes, I still love this coffeemaker and just work around the short comings because it makes great coffee and looks so good doing it.

Compared with the Jura ENA 4!! Love It!!

I just received this Krups Espresseria automatic machine. I have a Jura ENA 4 at my work so I will try to make some comparisons to them. The Jura is about the same price and they both have very similar features. I was so excited when I found out I would be receiving this Krups machine so that I can make my cappuccino at home too! I am a coffee fool so I make alot. With winter coming up this will be well used. Ok I have been using the Jura for some time at my work and it has been a very nice machine and is easy to setup, clean, and use. The Krups is no exception here as it is very easy to setup. Just fill the water container, bean hopper, set language, ML or OZ for liquid measurement, water hardness and ready to go. I use beans I buy here on Amazon. They are eight Oclock brand 50 % decaf. I chose the fine grind setting and brewed my first Cappuccio in less than a minute and the froth was superb. The coffee taste and strength is every bit as good as the Jura maybe alittle stronger with the Krups. I like that the machine is fully programable for different fill levels of coffee. You can fill one or two cups at a time. The nozzle height can be adjusted for taller cups but will not accommodate tall cups without sliding the drip tray out. The Jura can accommodate tall glasses no problem. The steam wand worked very well with no mess and produced a very nice froth and is fully adjustable for many positions. I really liked the spill tray as it has a float in it that rises to let you know when it is full. The Jura does not have this. Both machines come with a water filter to help reduce the bad flavors and reduce machine descaling frequency. The both come with a starter pack of cleaning tablets. As with any coffee espresso machine it will need cleaning to keep the flavor and machine working properly. It looks like the Krups requires less frequent cleaning. Both the frothing nozzles need cleaning frequently. All in all this is a very nice machine that will see alot of use. Oh yeah I was kind of surprised when I opened the box and noticed a small amount of coffee grinds in the machine. I called Krups customer service and was promptly advised that the machines grinders are tested during the assembly. I found no mention of this in the owners info so I was surprised but it is very nice to know that the machines are quality tested before shipping them out. Oh I should note that Jura does mention in there instructions that small traces of coffee grinds may be found in there machines for the same reason. Well I will try to make some comparisons now.

The Krups you can only use whole beans and no preground coffee.
The Jura has a bypass doser that allows you to use preground coffee.
The Jura does not come with a milk container and must be bought separately for about 80-100 dollars.
The Krups does come with its own stainless steel milk container even though it is not mentioned or shown in any of the pictures. I was really hoping it did come with it. Yeah!!
The Krups is made in France and not Mexico or China.
The Jura has a removable bean container.
The Krups does not have a removable bean container so no quick swapout of beans. Must run them all trough machine.
They both hold about the same amount of old grind cakes at 14.
The Jura needs to be cleaned every 180 cycles.
The Krups needs to be cleaned every 360 cycles. Big plus here!
The Jura takes about 44 minutes on the cleaning cycle.
The Krups take about 22 minutes on the cleaning cycle.
Both have an energy saving mode that is programable.
Both can be changed from ML to Oz for fluid measurement.
Both Krups and Jura come with a 2 year or 6000 cup warranty.

My likes about the Krups are slightly stronger coffee than the Jura.
Less frequent cleaning demands with the Krups.
Krups comes with its own Stainless milk container so you can fill it and put back in fridge when not using. The Jura you must purchase the milk container for 8-100 dollars.
Krups has a drip tray float to remind you when it needs cleaning out.
The Krups costumer service department was very quick and responsive when I called them. Oh yeah and they were all American so I could understand them.
The Krups has a better look for a home than does the Jura in my opinion.
I like being able to see how full the bean container is on the Krups without looking down in it unlike the Jura.

My dislikes abouth the Krups are no removable bean container. So when you want to change coffee beans to another brand you must cycle them through where as the Jura you can remove the bean container and empty it out.
Cannot use preground coffee as an option where as you can on the Jura.
The Krups nozzle does not raise as high as I would like to accommodate taller cups but can if you slide the drip tray out first.

So bottom line would I recommend the Krups Espresseria machine??? Yes I defiantly would!!!

UPDATE:

Ok so I have been using it for some time now and love it more than ever!! My wife too!! When just making a good old fashioned coffee the creama is so rich and yummy. I love it. I am still experimenting with all the minor adjustments you can make to custom tailor it but so far I like the grind set on very fine for a very robust flavor but not bitter at all. I am also loving the included milk container for the milk froth. It is very nice to be able to just fill it, use it, then put back in the fridge when done. Jura makes you pay extra for there milk container so nice job Krups!! Well just wanted to give an update as to how things are going here. Thanks

Krups - The Gold Standard In Home Espresso Machines

The Krups Espresseria is a fully automatic WHOLE BEAN espresso & coffee machine. I have a Krups espresso machine that is well over 10 years old and still in operation. So, knowing that the Krups brand has been a good fit in my household, I thought that I would pick this product up and give it a try. As of the writing of this review, I have used the machine over 20 times.

I had this machine out of the box and was drinking my first cafe latte in under 30 minutes. Super easy set up and operation of this machine is one of it's best features, in my opinion. It even has an attached pull out, plastic quick reference guide. The first thing to do, though, is to measure your water hardness with the enclosed test strip and set your machine up. Super easy on-screen instructions let you complete this in under 5 minutes.

Yes, this machine does EVERYTHING! Grinds the beans per your preferred grind with a hermetically sealed and transparent coffee bean hopper to store fresh coffee beans, percolates at your preferred temperature, has an optional and included Claris - Aqua Filter System cartridge, has a detachable nozzle that steams milk and dispenses hot water for tea/hot chocolate etc and said auto-cappuccino steaming arm also includes an optional and, may I say, VERY AWESOME large lidded, stainless steel milk container used for steaming and frothing milk for cafe lattes, cafe au laits and capuccinos. This accessory alone is priced at $70 on the Krups website. This product also includes the oily bean accessory that has not been mentioned either. This accessory helps with the flow of whole, oilier (as opposed to drier roasted)coffee beans to eliminate clumping.

I love the many different options on the LCD graphic display and electronic controls such as: espresso, strong espresso, coffee, and longo (long coffee). You also have the option of making 2 cups at a time just by tapping the button twice (this is available for all selections except for longo). The display also has date, time, auto on and off, water hardness/water filter (if used), and a fully automatic cleaning/maintenance program for the machine. Also included are 2 cleaning tablets that you place in the cleaning tablet pipe for cleaning after a WHOPPING 360 cycles and a packet of descaling powder.

The other cool features on this particular machine are amazing! The coffee outlets are of adjustable height and this is a plus because my other Krups machine could only handle short, espresso and tiny coffee cups. The cup tray on top is heated, the REMOVABLE water tank is large (1.8 liter,)the drip tray grid has a float attached and also the machine tells you when it needs to be removed and dumped along with the automatically ejected, used coffee grounds.

All in all, a great product from a reputable company. I could not be more pleased with this machine!

Makes good coffee, but at that price it better

Let's get something out of the way right now: when I wrote my very first Amazon review, I was working at Starbucks, so I know a little something about espresso. For the last year or so I've been using a Krups XP 4000 (bought refurbed, no longer in production), and it's a reasonably effective espresso machine. Having worked on the big pump-driven commercial machines, I find the simplicity of a basic pump unit comfortable and the entire full auto espresso thing a little... suspect might be the word? So this is not something I'd have ever actually paid for.

The important thing, right off the top: this thing does make good coffee. The learning curve is definitely steeper than it should be for something that's allegedly meant to make things simple, though it doesn't take quite as much practice as a manually operated unit. It does exactly what you ask it to, which is nice, but it's learning to speak its language that's the tricky part. The interface is mostly menu-driven, with multiple languages and the option of using either metric or US measurements. It also makes a more typical cup of coffee (albeit not very drip-style, with the espresso crema on top); I'm assuming it adds hot water after the brewing stage because I didn't notice any significant off-flavors from overextraction. Milk steaming is run on a timer and needs a little trial and error to get right, but it's otherwise no harder than any other steam wand; in fact, it actually improves on other thermoblock machines by not requiring an especially long cooling time between steaming and pulling the shot (if you've ever gotten overzealous about pulling a shot and overpressurized the portafilter, you know why this is a very good thing). Styling is simple and lacks the weird church-like design that companies like Jura tend to favor, and that's just fine with me. It also includes a fairly heavy duty water filter and a service schedule that's actually programmed into the firmware, and my unit came with an automatic milk heater/dispenser attachment (the Krups XS6000 Cappuccino Accessory) that seems to be a reasonable compromise if you can't get the hang of the steam wand, though I don't think it's part of all packages.

But... here's the problem. Although the results are great, a full auto espresso machine is *always* a rather huge investment, and I've never been convinced that the reduction in learning curve is worth the price and complexity of the device, which leads to another problem: failure points. Between the grinder, the brewing system, the steamer, and cleanout/disposal mechanism, this is a device with a lot more parts than a simple pump machine, and a lot more things to go wrong. To that end, Krups even includes a brief service guide (printed on waterproof plastic) that stores in the unit just in front of the water tank, complete with support hotlines for three dozen different countries. On top of all that, it's kind of hard to look at this as anything other than a monument to your very large paycheck. However, what looks excessive for home is fine for an office -- it's perfect for a workplace that can't get to a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts easily, since all someone has to do is push a couple of buttons to get a decent shot of espresso or a fresh-brewed cup of coffee.

So, yeah... I like the unit just fine, but I probably wouldn't pay money for it unless I had a lot of people who wanted fresh-brewed coffee and didn't want the waste of a Keurig machine OR unless I was buying it as a birthday/wedding/white elephant gift for a coffee aficionado in my family. But for myself alone? Not really worth it.

Best Coffee Maker

I bought this machine because of the option to make smaller amounts of coffee instead of always having to make 12 cups. When I set it up at home, I started playing around with the functions and learned it has options to pre-program to my travel mug or my "Sunday morning" mug. All I do is press a button and it dispenses the exact amount!! It keeps my coffee hot, thanks to the stainless steel carafe. Really easy to use and program. Plus, it looks sleek on my countertop!

The Best Coffee Maker

I finally found the perfect coffee maker for my household. I make a batch of coffee when I get up in the morning then everyone else can have a hot, fresh tasting cup when they get up. I like that the coffee is held inside the machine instead of in a carafe, it taste so much fresher, not stale. The adjustable tray is also nice since I can move it down and fill up my travel mug without making a mess.

This coffee maker is PERFECT ! Not only the coffee is held inside the machine and kept warm for 4 hours (no thermal jug do that anywhere) but it is so simple to use ! You just push the button and that's it ! Your coffee is ready, wheter it is large, small... It really is a cup on request !

Quiet Blender ...

I love that this blender is quiet. And all parts dishwasher safe. It doesn't wake up the entire family when I make my smoothies in the morning. I don't fill it all the way because it seems to work better when I only fill it about half way ... which is fine. I'd rather have a chunky smoothy or salse vs. a liquid smoothie (otherwise I'd just drink juice!)

Two Settings

The KRUPS ZX7000 can be used with or without the pressure lever. Built-in sensors activate juicing process once the press arm and fruit are in proper contact.

Using the Lever

The lever helps press citrus fruits against the rotating juicing cone for clean, efficient extraction. It is also helpful when pressing larger fruit, or larger quantities of citrus fruits. Simply raise the lever to the upper position, place a glass on the grip tray, cut your fruit in half, apply pressure to the lever and the citrus press will start working automatically.

Pressing by Hand

In manual mode, fruit is pressed by hand against the rotating juicing cone. Simply raise the lever to the upper position, place a glass on the grip tray, cut your fruit in half, apply pressure with your hand against the fruit and the citrus press will start working automatically.

Removable, Dishwasher Safe Parts

Removable parts can be washed in the upper level of the dishwasher. The pressing lever and lever pin should only be cleaned in the sink.
For easy storage, the underside of the Citrus Press base includes a cord wrap when the appliance is not in use.

Assembly of Lever

For first time use, remove the small lever pin in the bag attached to the pressing lever. Hold the lever upright against the base. The lever should be on top of the citrus arm press. Align the holes, hold the black end of the lever pin and push the lever pin through the holes. The lever can now move up and down.

Krups ZX7000 Krups Citrus PressI am very happy that I bought this unit. It is well made and works well. I went on a trip and had the best pomegranate juice in the world made right in front of me., so when I got home I needed a citrus juicer. My choices were getting something mechanical or this but, I have arthritic hands so the electrical was a better choice. I can make a big pitcher of juice in less than half an hour. My hands are not bothered and the juices are fresh and taste much better than from the stores.

Fresh Juice!!

This press is great! Highly recommended. It has a lot of power so the juicing cone continues to spin even with a lot of pressure. You have option to use the lever to press or your hand. ALL the juice was extracted from my fruit. I'm not a pulp lover and I was thrilled when most of the pulp was left in the bowl. But for my Mom who is a pulp lover, it was easy to scoop out the pulp for her glass of juice. Besides that, it was very easy to assemble (remember the pin on the back of the handle) and it was easy to clean too. All the removable pieces are dishwasher safe. It's also smaller than a juice extractor ... so it doesn't take up a lot of counterspace and I can store it in the cabinet too.

Great Juicer

I am so glad I bought this Krups Citrus Press. I can get fresh squeezed juice with lots of pulp every day in a few minutes. It's simple to use, easy to clean - just put it in dishwasher. This is exactly what I needed. It's a quality product. Highly recommended.

Excellent Blender for Soup

My Cuisinart CSB-76W SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Whites just broken so I needed a replacement, ideally something step up. I found this beautiful blender, Krups kichen products always catches my eyes, I really like their design, European look applpiances fits well in my kitchen. This unit has very nice LCD screen tells speed which is a great great function. This item works really great and I am making soup. If you are looking for step up blender, this is the one.

Best blender ever

I bought a Cuisinart CSB-76BC SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome at the beginning of the year and it broke, so I bought this one. I love it, it is very powerful and efficient, I can make ANYTHING with it: soups, gazpachos, smoothies, cocktails... Crunching ice in my smoothies and cocktails is no problem, I've used it for months and the blade is still intact! It's also very easy to clean, I really just have to rinse the shaft, wipe the handle, and that's about it. Eating fruits and vegetables has become so easy! I highly recommend it.

Efficient operation as well as efficient design: tiny footprint on your counter with the sleek heating element plate that it rests on, and the cord stays out of the way with a hidden space underneath the base to guide and hand wind any extra slack. Single wall construction; the surfaces other than the handle do get hot to the touch when in use. Easy to fill (press the upper lever to open), then press the clear lever to turn on and that lever will light up. Features auto shut off - once it comes to a boil, after a second or two, the "on" lever will release to "off" and the white light will turn off. Note: Krups recommends emptying the kettle after each use to prevent scale buildup on the interior surface.

A word about the "wood optics" detailing - I googled this term and it seems to be something Krups has made up to describe the faux wood grain featured on this model. It is something you'll definitely notice straight out of the box but probably not enough to think it's a deal breaker. As I mention in the video I think it may actually be a *good* thing that the faux finish is made of a material designed to work with heat/steam/water as opposed to real wood that may have been less suitable in this application. The listing detail photos which offer close-up and zoom views of the handle give a much better idea of exactly what the wood optic finish looks like. This model has a TWO year manufacturer's warranty which might help calm any fears about the wear and durability of this machine.

If you have to boil water, this is definitely a high end, high *art* way to do it.

I could not resist buying this item when I saw it at department store, it's so gorgeous looking. It's not only a great look, but also a great quality. It's a bit expensive than other kettles yet it's worth it to spend a bit extra. The design is stylish, easy to clean. I'm so happy with this addition to my kitchen and it's highly recommended.

Best Juicer, Fresh Squeeze Juice Every Day in a Sec

What a great product! The cone rotates so fast so I can make juice in a sec, so easy to use. In addition, the item looks very beautiful so it's nice to have such a great looking appliance in my kitchen. It's cordless so I don't have to use it in kitchen... I can do it while watching TV.

High Quality machine

A few weeks ago we shopped for a new expresso machine at the Bed, Bath and Beyond store. Take in your 20% discount coupon and you will get a great deal.

Overall, we give the Krups XP5220 machine 5 stars. It is a quality made machine and makes good creme (foam). The nicest feature is the automatic tapping and the push-button to pop out the used coffee puck, no longer need to bang the filter holder on the garbage can to get the grinds to fall out.

One word of warning: we found a number of unhappy amazon.com users who had broken the tabs off the steam wand. A customer may not realize that in order to remove the nozzle for cleaning you have to pull the slip ring down and pull straight off which requires a bit of force. If you pry one of the 3 tabs which are in a vulnerable position they will break and then the steam wand may not stay on under pressure. Once you understand the proper removal and installation, it's not a problem. The manufacturer should review this design and make it a bit more robust. Otherwise it is a high quality machine and does a great job.

We benefitted from previous reviewers on the subject and were careful with our steam wand. Once you understand how to properly remove the nozzle it's not a problem. Don't overlook this machine, it is very nicely made and works well.

Great machine...

We've had this espresso machine for just over a month and it works wonderfully.

It's a huge step up from our previous model (XP4030). For one thing, the previous machine was extremely loud and vibrated so badly that it couldn't be left unattended. We expected a bit more noise, and did get used to it, but not being able to turn our back while the coffee was brewing wasn't an option. This machine is much quieter, and there is no vibration. I can leave the room and come back to find the carafe or cup in the same spot I left it.

The coffee does pull slower, but that's not an issue for us.

Secondly, this machine has an auto tamping system. At first I was dubious about that, but now I love it. No more worrying about how far to tamp the grind down, just put it in the holder, put the holder in place, turn it a click or two, and you're ready to go.

If you click too far, not only will the holder be too tight, but the coffee won't flow. If nothing happens after a second or two, simply shut the machine off, release the holder, then click it one turn back. At that point it should work without having to remove any of the grounds (though in the beginning I did have to take a bit out). It takes a little practice, but you do learn how much ground to put in the holder.

The third thing that this machine has over our previous one...NO THIN RUBBER GASKET!! That was a big draw. We had spent quite a bit of money replacing gaskets (from the six month point on), and every other machine that we looked at (and we looked at them all) had the same rubber gasket.

Fourth, Krups finally got wise and encased the metal that was behind the drip tray. No more exposed metal, no more rusting. And instead of a pull out drip tray, the entire piece lifts off for easy emptying.

All of these things made the machine more expensive than our previous one, but it's less expensive than a lot of the brands/models we looked at. And though we're serious about our espresso/Americano's, we're not ready to take the plunge into the machines that cost hundreds of dollars. This is a good alternative (for us anyway).

We've had no problems with the frothing wand. It seems as sturdy as any of the others we've seen.

I will say that with our old machine it was extremely difficult to develop a good froth. With this one, I expected about the same, but then we hadn't purchased the machine for fancy drinks.

That said, this machine makes a fantastic froth and it's very simple to use. I had given up even trying with our previous machine, and whenever I wanted a cappuccino my husband had to do it (with mixed results and never quite as good as our old steam espresso maker).

It's nice to be able to make my own cappuccino's now. :-)

Who knows. I may be back in a few months with some negative comments, but for right now we're enjoying this machine.

*And here I am. Ten months in and we experienced the same problem with this machine as with the less expensive machine. The inner rubber gasket (which isn't visible on this model) failed.

Our first order of business was to find out if replacement parts were available. With none found, and since the machine is still under warranty, we contacted Krups. They would not send a replacement part, but did pay for the machine to be sent to (and returned from) a service center for repair. A few weeks later the machine is back home and in good working condition. With any luck we'll get ten more months of usage before the problem arises again (hopefully longer, but I won't hold my breath). With even more luck, Krups will decide to make replacement parts available to the consumer by the time we need a new gasket. We certainly couldn't afford to mail this machine off every time it needs a new part.

HOWEVER, the steam wand is the most fragile, bad design I have ever seen. The steam wand is actually PLASTIC, NOT METAL. There is merely a thin, aluminum cover that surrounds the body of the steam wand, but underneath, and more importantly, at the top of the wand, it is ALL made of plastic. And soft, cheap plastic at that. It's like Krups was trying to save a few bucks in manufacturing by making this part out of cheap plastic instead of steel, which is what it should be made out of.

The wand broke on its own, maybe 6 or 7 times after it was used. Not through some sort of force, or because we handled it too roughly; the wand literally split away from the rest of the machine due to the steam heat coming out of it while we were steaming milk. All of a sudden steam started coming out of the top of the wand, instead of the tip of it, and the milk would not steam. Then the wand fell off. The place where it broke clearly looked like it had partially melted, and just split away from the rest of it where the piece was supposed to be solid.

We took the unit back to the store where we bought it, thinking that this surely must have been due to a manufacturing defect in our unit, since the espresso maker was so well made otherwise. THAT WAS VERY NAIVE OF US. After receiving the replacement unit, we used it again, this time taking EXTRA care in being very gentle with the steam wand. This time, the steam wand worked fine for about 2 months, then all of a sudden the exact same thing happened again. It was CLEARLY the heat causing the plastic to split and separate at the top of the steam wand.

FORM: Snazzy, sleek, modern, industrial-style. Surprisingly, the beautiful brushed stainless steel is not a magnet for fingerprints.

FUNCTION: Quick and efficient.

OF NOTE: Perhaps a negative to some, this kettle is on the heavy side (the upside of which is its sturdiness).

For optimal use of the removable filter when filling the kettle and subsequently pouring the boiled water, Krups instructs the user to fill directly into the spout. I prefer to fill through the wider opening in the top of the kettle because there is less spillage. Since I use filtered water to begin with, this is not an issue to me.

a quality product

We purchased this kettle to replace two failed Capresso programmable kettles (the lids fell off both among other faults). It was immediately apparent that this product is well made and the first impressions have proved to be correct. The kettle boils water fast and switches off very quickly once it boils.It also looks good so what more could one ask for?
No negative points yet and dont expect any as this is a real quality product.

I like this product very much. The only drawback I've noticed is a big noise when it comes to the boiling point.
Other then that it's on of the best on the market. Practically no smell, no plastic parts inside.

Compared with the Jura ENA 4!! Love It!!

I just received this Krups Espresseria automatic machine. I have a Jura ENA 4 at my work so I will try to make some comparisons to them. The Jura is about the same price and they both have very similar features. I was so excited when I found out I would be receiving this Krups machine so that I can make my cappuccino at home too! I am a coffee fool so I make alot. With winter coming up this will be well used. Ok I have been using the Jura for some time at my work and it has been a very nice machine and is easy to setup, clean, and use. The Krups is no exception here as it is very easy to setup. Just fill the water container, bean hopper, set language, ML or OZ for liquid measurement, water hardness and ready to go. I use beans I buy here on Amazon. They are eight Oclock brand 50 % decaf. I chose the fine grind setting and brewed my first Cappuccio in less than a minute and the froth was superb. The coffee taste and strength is every bit as good as the Jura maybe alittle stronger with the Krups. I like that the machine is fully programable for different fill levels of coffee. You can fill one or two cups at a time. The nozzle height can be adjusted for taller cups but will not accommodate tall cups without sliding the drip tray out. The Jura can accommodate tall glasses no problem. The steam wand worked very well with no mess and produced a very nice froth and is fully adjustable for many positions. I really liked the spill tray as it has a float in it that rises to let you know when it is full. The Jura does not have this. Both machines come with a water filter to help reduce the bad flavors and reduce machine descaling frequency. The both come with a starter pack of cleaning tablets. As with any coffee espresso machine it will need cleaning to keep the flavor and machine working properly. It looks like the Krups requires less frequent cleaning. Both the frothing nozzles need cleaning frequently. All in all this is a very nice machine that will see alot of use. Oh yeah I was kind of surprised when I opened the box and noticed a small amount of coffee grinds in the machine. I called Krups customer service and was promptly advised that the machines grinders are tested during the assembly. I found no mention of this in the owners info so I was surprised but it is very nice to know that the machines are quality tested before shipping them out. Oh I should note that Jura does mention in there instructions that small traces of coffee grinds may be found in there machines for the same reason. Well I will try to make some comparisons now.

The Krups you can only use whole beans and no preground coffee.
The Jura has a bypass doser that allows you to use preground coffee.
The Jura does not come with a milk container and must be bought separately for about 80-100 dollars.
The Krups does come with its own stainless steel milk container even though it is not mentioned or shown in any of the pictures. I was really hoping it did come with it. Yeah!!
The Krups is made in France and not Mexico or China.
The Jura has a removable bean container.
The Krups does not have a removable bean container so no quick swapout of beans. Must run them all trough machine.
They both hold about the same amount of old grind cakes at 14.
The Jura needs to be cleaned every 180 cycles.
The Krups needs to be cleaned every 360 cycles. Big plus here!
The Jura takes about 44 minutes on the cleaning cycle.
The Krups take about 22 minutes on the cleaning cycle.
Both have an energy saving mode that is programable.
Both can be changed from ML to Oz for fluid measurement.
Both Krups and Jura come with a 2 year or 6000 cup warranty.

My likes about the Krups are slightly stronger coffee than the Jura.
Less frequent cleaning demands with the Krups.
Krups comes with its own Stainless milk container so you can fill it and put back in fridge when not using. The Jura you must purchase the milk container for 8-100 dollars.
Krups has a drip tray float to remind you when it needs cleaning out.
The Krups costumer service department was very quick and responsive when I called them. Oh yeah and they were all American so I could understand them.
The Krups has a better look for a home than does the Jura in my opinion.
I like being able to see how full the bean container is on the Krups without looking down in it unlike the Jura.

My dislikes abouth the Krups are no removable bean container. So when you want to change coffee beans to another brand you must cycle them through where as the Jura you can remove the bean container and empty it out.
Cannot use preground coffee as an option where as you can on the Jura.
The Krups nozzle does not raise as high as I would like to accommodate taller cups but can if you slide the drip tray out first.

So bottom line would I recommend the Krups Espresseria machine??? Yes I defiantly would!!!

UPDATE:

Ok so I have been using it for some time now and love it more than ever!! My wife too!! When just making a good old fashioned coffee the creama is so rich and yummy. I love it. I am still experimenting with all the minor adjustments you can make to custom tailor it but so far I like the grind set on very fine for a very robust flavor but not bitter at all. I am also loving the included milk container for the milk froth. It is very nice to be able to just fill it, use it, then put back in the fridge when done. Jura makes you pay extra for there milk container so nice job Krups!! Well just wanted to give an update as to how things are going here. Thanks

Makes good coffee, but at that price it better

Let's get something out of the way right now: when I wrote my very first Amazon review, I was working at Starbucks, so I know a little something about espresso. For the last year or so I've been using a Krups XP 4000 (bought refurbed, no longer in production), and it's a reasonably effective espresso machine. Having worked on the big pump-driven commercial machines, I find the simplicity of a basic pump unit comfortable and the entire full auto espresso thing a little... suspect might be the word? So this is not something I'd have ever actually paid for.

The important thing, right off the top: this thing does make good coffee. The learning curve is definitely steeper than it should be for something that's allegedly meant to make things simple, though it doesn't take quite as much practice as a manually operated unit. It does exactly what you ask it to, which is nice, but it's learning to speak its language that's the tricky part. The interface is mostly menu-driven, with multiple languages and the option of using either metric or US measurements. It also makes a more typical cup of coffee (albeit not very drip-style, with the espresso crema on top); I'm assuming it adds hot water after the brewing stage because I didn't notice any significant off-flavors from overextraction. Milk steaming is run on a timer and needs a little trial and error to get right, but it's otherwise no harder than any other steam wand; in fact, it actually improves on other thermoblock machines by not requiring an especially long cooling time between steaming and pulling the shot (if you've ever gotten overzealous about pulling a shot and overpressurized the portafilter, you know why this is a very good thing). Styling is simple and lacks the weird church-like design that companies like Jura tend to favor, and that's just fine with me. It also includes a fairly heavy duty water filter and a service schedule that's actually programmed into the firmware, and my unit came with an automatic milk heater/dispenser attachment (the Krups XS6000 Cappuccino Accessory) that seems to be a reasonable compromise if you can't get the hang of the steam wand, though I don't think it's part of all packages.

But... here's the problem. Although the results are great, a full auto espresso machine is *always* a rather huge investment, and I've never been convinced that the reduction in learning curve is worth the price and complexity of the device, which leads to another problem: failure points. Between the grinder, the brewing system, the steamer, and cleanout/disposal mechanism, this is a device with a lot more parts than a simple pump machine, and a lot more things to go wrong. To that end, Krups even includes a brief service guide (printed on waterproof plastic) that stores in the unit just in front of the water tank, complete with support hotlines for three dozen different countries. On top of all that, it's kind of hard to look at this as anything other than a monument to your very large paycheck. However, what looks excessive for home is fine for an office -- it's perfect for a workplace that can't get to a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts easily, since all someone has to do is push a couple of buttons to get a decent shot of espresso or a fresh-brewed cup of coffee.

So, yeah... I like the unit just fine, but I probably wouldn't pay money for it unless I had a lot of people who wanted fresh-brewed coffee and didn't want the waste of a Keurig machine OR unless I was buying it as a birthday/wedding/white elephant gift for a coffee aficionado in my family. But for myself alone? Not really worth it.

Rolls Royce of Espresso Machines

If you want the very best of espresso machines then this is the one you want. Krups is the top manufactor of top quality machines. This is true of this one. It's made in France not in China or Cambodia. This is a big plus for me. There is nothing like the smell of freshly ground coffee in the morning. It's one of three favorite smells along with newborn baby and chocolate chip cookies just out of the oven. It almost makes me weak in the knees when I first wake up. It has lots of great features:
1. The machine itself grinds the coffee beans. The drawback is not removable so you must use the ones in there before getting new ones. Also, you can not use preground coffee. Ok with me as I'd rather use beans but some may object.
2. It has a stainless steel milk frothing bottle which is excellent. Most machines require you buy them as an option for around $70-$100. This is a big plus.
3. It gives you lots of options on how you want your espresso brewed- weak to strong. This is great.
4. It has an automatic clean rinse cycle and only needs a deep clean after more than 350 cycles.
5. There is a steamer nozzle for hot water for tea, hot chocolate, hot apple cider,etc.
6. It is energy efficient and has an automatic off timer.
7. The machine alerts you for cleaning and replacement needs. There is a drip tray float to remind you to clean it.
8. I found it easy to use.

Most importantly it makes a great cup of coffee and has wonderful features. It's major drawback? The price. It is more
than I would pay for an espresso machine but since it will probably last at least ten years, it seems a lot more reasonable. If good coffee is important and you plan to keep it for awhile, then this is the machine for you.
